While iPhone 5 is locked my texts and calls only come through intermittently
So, this has been happening to me for almost a year now, I have been through everything to try and fix it, I am about to upgrade to the soon to be announced iPhone 6 but I would like an answer on it at least.
While my iPhone is locked I do not receive calls or texts, now this doesn't happen 100% of the time but probably about 80% of the time. I have had my phone replaced, my sim card replaced, restored my iPhone and been through countless hours with my network provider to try and resolve this, still to this day it happens.
Anyone have the same issue? And please don't say it it DND (Do Not Disturb) because it is not, I have literally tried everything I can think of, I am also a technical analyst by trade so I have not been naive about trying to sort this out.
To add, I live in London and it happens everywhere, it is not only happening in a certain area.
Please someone help.

I'm talking about the notifications in the lock screen, yes. However, I have the 'View in Lock Screen' option on for all email accounts and it has always been this way, it's just that in the past few days this hasn't been functioning as intended. Now emails only come through once the phone is unlocked, which is annoying as I now have to manually check my mail, meaning that I may miss important emails.
With the calls, it's happened 100% of the time, again over the past few days, all in the same location which I have never had issues with.
Because both of these issues have arrised recently, I feel like it might be an issue with the hardware?

Emails and calls only come through when my iPhone is unlocked?
Emails suddenly only seem to be coming through once I have entered my lock screen password and unlocked the phone, whereas previously they were being pushed to the lock screen as normal. I am connected to Wi-Fi constantly with a strong connection (all 3 bars).
Also, when someone tried to call me recently, the call kept going straight to my voicemail, despite the fact that I had full/almost full signal (4 or 5 bars).
I have an iPhone 4 running the latest version of iOS and have not changed any settings recently that would affect the behavior of either of these features. The device is in full working order.
Anyone know what's going on?

The iPhone 5s is about 140 days old, I called apple yesterday before I knew about this problem and send a diagnostic test to which they said was all good, they said the phone ismy blocked in anyway and that I got a great buy And it's second hand but in Christine condition with around 200 days left of warrenty.

its not in airplane mode.
it does not have "do not disturb settings on.
its locked on EE and has a T-Mobile SIM installed and is showing signal bars.

I deleted a contact out of my iPhone 4S but when I go to send a message the contact appears although that individual is no longer in my address book. I deleted all text and call history pertaining to the deleted contact but still shows up. Does anyone have the same issue and how do I fix it?

i have just switched to samsung and i have removed the sim from the iphone however i am still receiving texts rather 'imessage' on the old iphone. how do i make sure all messages only come to my new phone??
You can turn iMessage off on your iPhone. That's relatively easy. Since iMessage is an Apple product/service, I have no idea how a Samsung phone will deal with an incoming one. For that answer you should probably contact Samsung support.

Is there a software in which I can hook up my iPhone 4s to my computer and send and receive text messages and calls (via headset) through my computer? Whether it's free or cost money, can someone please give me a name of a program or software that allows me to do this? I can't seem to find anything like this for the iPhone.

i came home and my iphone is now frozzen on the apple screen and it hasnt been doing anything i put it in the charger and its not doing anything how do i get it to work so i can text and call and stuff
I got to that page but clicking on the Subscribe Free had no effect.
Nothing showed in the Podcasts nor the iTunes U.
In fact I also subscribed to Stanford's lectures and despite actually managing to DL them there is still no subscription in iTunes U, just the Intro to Computer Science belatedly.

YOu will need to contact your cell phone provider to resolve those issue, those are carrier features.

Engage the mute switch while you're on the call. It's the little slider switch over the volume buttons on the side of the phone.

Recently the sound on my Iphone 4 for texts, and email alerts started working intermittently. I have upgraded to the latest software and the Apple store even replaced the phone but safe issues
For each mail account, along with designating a primary SMTP server, you should be able to just turn off any and all other SMTP servers you have listed. In that case, if there is a problem with comcast, the message send should just fail.
Also make sure your comcast smtp settings are correct (port, likely 587 but might be something else for comcast, whether you should be suing SSL or not, do you need authentication or not).
You might find the comcast forums useful for getting the settings right - I found this:

Whenever i try and send an imessage to someone that has an iphone it gets stuck at times and won't go through. I then have to send it as a basic text and then it will respond message failed to send what should i do when it does this i need help
The use of iMessage depends on both the sender and the receiver having an active data connection. If either of the two connections are interrupted, the message can fail. The sending of an iMessage differs from the sending of an SMS, and if you are having SMS failures, that would be a carrier concern.

When I send a text message from my iPhone response only comes back to my iPhone . If I send from iPad, response only comes back to iPad. Whichever I used last is where response comes. Responses are not coming to both anymore!
On both devices when you go to settings>messages>send and recieve how are poeple contacting you on each device?. e.g. email or mobile number.
