While listening to iTunes via Apple TV

While listening to iTunes both through Apple TV or an old Airport Express the music intermittently cuts out. It plays through my MacBookPro uninterrupted. I'm running the latest Yosemite 10.10.2. Also everything is connected via a time capsule. Thought my Airport Express was dying but the Apple TV is new and the same thing happens.

Hello whyard1,
Thanks for using the Apple Support Communities. It sounds like you are experiencing performance issues with AirPlay. The following resource may provide a solution:

What is the simplest way to copy CDs and listen to them via Apple TV?

Realistically though I reckon using Apple Lossless you'd get over 2000-3000 albums on a 1TB drive, and you'd get one for the cost of a handful of CDs.
i would use lossless all the way.
the problem i have is that i have 2 iphones and an ipod classic as well, and of course using lossless on those is not really an option. (the ipod classic being in the car so that i have all my music available)
so i would end up needing duplicates of everything. i settled for 256Kbps AAC.
I rip all my CDs to Apple Lossless in iTunes, I also used to sync them to an iPhone but could not fit them all. However iTunes now (finally!) allows you to keep the tracks in Apple Lossless in iTunes but 'on the fly' convert them to AAC 128Kbps when syncing to an iPhone, iPod, or iPad.
As a result, I still have all my music in Apple Lossless in iTunes for use in the home, but can now also fit them on my iPhone in AAC format. I don't need to keep two copies of the tracks in iTunes.

  • While listening to itunes on my iphone I don't what the music to stop when a call comes in

while listening to itunes on my iphone I don't want the music to stop when a call comes in

That's the way it works. If you don't want to be bothered with calls while you're listening to music, put it in airplane mode.

  • HT4743 My TV will play movies purchased from itunes via apple tv but not tv shows..why ? thank you

My TV will play movies via apple tv but on trying to play tv shows keeps asking for authorization..why ? How do I authorize ? Many thanks

    Welcome to the Apple Community.
Are the movies purchased from the iTunes Store and if so were they purchased from the same account as the TV shows.

  • Can I stop a screen saver kicking in while listening to iTunes 11?

    Hi,
Since updating to iTunes 11 my screen saver kicks in after a period of time (default setting). This is so annoying because before I updated, I used to have iTunes 10 running in full screen cover flow mode and this temporarily disabled my screen saver from starting while it was running in this mode.
Is there any way I can run iTunes 11 in the same way without having to mess around with my screen saver settings?
Why Apple decided to remove the cover flow feature in iTunes 11 is beyond comprehension and hope they reinstate it again soon.
Thanks in advance for any help you guys can give.

  • Pop Up while listening to iTunes

While playing itunes a pop up arrives every time the song changes?  I have no clue.

It sounds like your hard drive might be busted. That "?" you get means it can't detect the boot files it needs. The clicking noise you're getting is this "arm" piece that moves back and forth the radius of the drive as it spins to process data. But you also have an intel-based mac and there are some parts that need to be reset. The SMC manages the power in the system and the PRAM stores settings. They're very easy to reset yourself and it requires no tools. If those don't work, hold in command and r at the same time as soon as you turn it on. You'll boot into recovery mode and from there, select disk utility. Select "Macintosh HD" and look at the bottom of the window. It should look something like this
It should show how much storage (capacity) your hard drive has and how much is open (available). It should also say "/" for Mount Point. If it doesn't indicate any of these, your hard drive most likely failed. I would take it to apple just to diagnose the issue. If it's the hard drive, you should be able to replace it yourself, just make sure it's compatible with your model. I would suggest getting an SSD from www.crucialmemory.com. They're faster and stronger, making them more reliable since SSD stand for Solid State Drive so it has no moving parts.

  • Can you redirect the audio output of iTunes via Apple TV?

I currently have iTunes running on Windows XP with an Airport Express connected to my home stereo. I toggle the iTunes audio between my PC and the Airport Express via the iTunes speaker setting. With Apple TV, will I be able to toggle the audio output from the Apple TV interface?
    Thanks,
    Chaaad

No, you can use AppleTV like an Express to have audio playing in iTunes relayed to it, but you can't play something on AppleTV and direct the output to the Express.

  • Cannot listen to itunes via Jabra Bluetooth headphones?

My headset work with everything except listening iTunes thru them. I can chat with them, I can even pause and play itunes, but no music comes thru them, only the computer speakers
    do I need a driver ?

Using a headset needs several steps even needed if you have the latest computer or Mac OS X release. Please make sure to follow them in order.
Download the Apple Bluetooth Firmware Updater
    Install it
Remove as much USB devices from your computer as possible
Launch it from Applications > Utilities > Bluetooth Updater
Apply it to your adapter (takes very long and disconnects your Bluetooth mouse).
Start the Apple Bluetooth Assistant and select Headset. Do not use anything else!
Make your headset Bluetooth visible. Look up the manual of your headset how to do that.
Now select the headset in System Preferences > Sound.
In most cases step 3 is missed. You have to start the already installed updater yourself (do not ask me why).

  • TS3297 no sound when viewing HD movie from iTunes via Apple TV?

Recently added AppleTV to the home theater (via HDML).  Downloaded HD movie from iTunes, but there's no sound.  Pretty picture, just no sound.  Other AppleTV functions have sound (movie previews, Hulu), and viewing photos and listening to songs from MacBook work fine.  Any suggestions?

  • How to setup so kids carnt purchase on iTunes via Apple TV

Hi everyone I have purchased several Apple TV 2 and 3 .
My dilemma is I have my main Apple TV that I use set up so I can purchase from iTunes and see what I have on iCloud ,
but I want too setup 2 more atv up for the kids in their bedrooms but don't want them to purchase anything from iTunes
,although I still want them to see what's on the iCloud and be able to watch.
Is there any settings or way to connect these up like that.

Don't allow them to remember the store password for purchases, plus set up parental controls to require a passcode to purchase.

  • Skipping/interference while listening to itunes on PC

Hi everyone, I'd appreciate some advice on this if possible.
When listening to music on itunes there doesn't seem to be a problem until I go and do something else, even something as simple as looking through the itunes store.
If I start using the internet or access the itunes store the songs start to skip and I'm not sure why as I didn't think mp3s do this!
Is this normal or is there something I can do to stop the skipping?
    Many thanks,
    YIB

    Thanks for your reply.
What you say makes sense but my PC has recently been upgraded. I don't particularly remember having a problem before the upgrade tbh.
Not sure if these are the specs you mean, this is all I know:
    AMD Athlon 64 processor 3000+
1.81 GHz, 1.00 GB of Ram
    NVIDIA GeForce 6600

  • Songs ending early while listening from itunes match

itunes match songs are ending early.  I have shuffled the tracks of a single album and the song is getting around 80-85% complete and then moving on to the next track.  Was wondering if anyone else is seeing this behavior.   Iphone 4s using itunes match with a catalog song from a windows 7 computer last night.  The tracks are from an album in the apple store.

Similar to the problem that I'm having.  I started a discussion here: https://discussions.apple.com/message/16759669#16759669
Are you having the problem on your iPod/iPhone or on your computer?
I'm curious, if you delete the songs from the computer and re-download them from the cloud, do you have the same issues on the computer as yoru iPhone?

go system preferences > sound (or some such preference pane). see what kind of settings you can change and if that helps.
