While running Firefox 3.6.8, pc reboots when manually moving forward in flash video!

I loaded a video from Radio-Canada Tou.tv site. If I let the video run for a little while, and then I drag the time bar to move forward in the video, that causes my pc to stop and reboot every time!
I have accessed the same video with Internet Explorer and the approriate Adobe Flash Player and everything ran well.

Hi Vinny, LOL, I had the right thread, just the wrong link!! I was on several sites researching and that google link was one of them but didn't intend to post it to you:-)

On that FF, I couldn't find anything helpful on the forum there. I think I'll look elsewhere.
Thanks,

    Dear All,
Firefox hangs when i try to play flash videos from any site but when i run firefox as administrator it works fine. (but Google Chrome, Opera & I.E9 Plays videos without running as administrator.) I am using Windows 7 & Firefox 7.0.1. Please help.

A possible cause is security software (firewall) that blocks or restricts Firefox or the plugin-container process without informing you, possibly after detecting changes (update) to the Firefox program.
Remove all rules for Firefox from the permissions list in the firewall and let your firewall ask again for permission to get full unrestricted access to internet for Firefox and the plugin-container process and the updater process.

  • Anyone know why the Finder in OS X disappears while running Firefox?

Finder disappears while using Firefox, but is viewable with Safari. Anyone have any solutions?

This is basic Mac understanding. The Finder does not quit, it is backgrounded each time you start, or switch to, another application, and resumes foreground status when you follow one of the choices below.
In your example, Firefox is running (application or version doesn't matter). You want to open a Finder window. Your choices are:
Click a mouse button anywhere on your desktop background to make Finder current. Finder keyboard commands now also work because you also have keyboard focus.
In the current application, press command+tab to see all running application icons. If Finder is already highlighted, you can press return, or if not, use mouse or arrow buttons to select it.
Move your mouse to the Dock and click on the Finder icon.

  • Wireless mouse will not work at the top of the page on ANY website while running Firefox 7.0.1

I am currently running Firefox 7.0.1 and have not had many problems until today. I have noticed that my wireless mouse will not work at the top of any website. This means I cannot log into many sites. I have also noticed that during page downloads, I have to move the mouse in order for the page to load or it just pauses. Any help would be appreciated!

If it does work in Safe-mode then disable all extensions and then try to find which is causing it by enabling one at a time until the problem reappears.
*Use "Disable all add-ons" on the [[Safe mode]] start window to disable all extensions.
    * Close and restart Firefox after each change via "File > Exit" (Mac: "Firefox > Quit"; Linux: "File > Quit")

  • Firefox returns to regular view when I pause a fullscreen flash video

    Hi,
I have a very annoying problem with Firefox.
Whenever I view a flash video fullscreen and then I pause it, it switches off to regular view after a few seconds. Safari or *shudder* Chrome doesn't do this at all.
Anyone know why its doing this?
P.S. I tried disabling ALL of my addons but it still has that problem. I even tried reinstalling Firefox while deleting the old one and starting from scratch....that didn't go over so well either. Wish I saved my bookmarks at least. ouch...

Try to disable hardware acceleration in Firefox (you need to close and restart Firefox).
*Tools > Options > Advanced > General > Browsing: "Use hardware acceleration when available"
You can check for problems with current Flash plugin versions and try these:
*disable a possible RealPlayer Browser Record Plugin extension for Firefox and update the RealPlayer if installed
*disable protected mode in the Flash plugin (Flash 11.3+ on Windows Vista and later)
*disable hardware acceleration in the Flash plugin

  • Bridge Freezes While Running Firefox

Has any one else experienced the same problem? Bridge CS3 will freeze up if Firefox 3.0.15 is running at the same time. It seems to me that Firefox conflicts significantly with Adobe CS3 such as Bridge and Photoshop. If I force quit Firefox, Bridge and photoshop will un-freeze. I have expereiced this with Bridge CS4 and Firefox once as well. Is there a solution to this problem? Thanks so much in advance.
PS. I am using OS 10.5.8

Not aware of problems with Firefox, at least, this is the first time I hear
    of it.
But I wonder why you are using Bridge CS3 when you have Bridge CS4. If you
for some reason would like to open the images in CS3 you can set this to the
preferences for Bridge. Bridge CS4 is far better then CS3
And also the question, why do you use Firefox 3.0.15 while the current
    version is at 3.5.5 ?
I'm not saying you need to update right from the moment it is available but
CS3 is several years old and also Firefox is 5 upgrades further in the list

  • I upgraded to Firefox 7 and was told to reboot. Each tie I try to run Firefox it tells me to reboot. How can I remove it?

I installed a new copy of Firefox 7.
After installation I was told to reboot to complete the previous installation.
Now each time I try to run FF I am told that I need to reboot to complete the previous upgrade of Firefox.
I have reboot several times with no success.
I need to remove this upgrade. How?

I have a similar problem; but I think the cause of the "already running" message is that my computer crashed.
I rebooted before I learned to look for the parent lock file, but even when I knew to look for it, I found my original profile folder to be empty.
So I created another profile folder, and FF works, but I cannot access my old profile folder. When I open the location where it should be, nothing's there. But if I go to profile manager, I see my original profile is still there (and it has a location, it's where it should be - and where it's invisible, but even if I type in this location, nothing comes up).
I tried making all folders visible (I run Windows 7), but this did not make my old profile visible.
I want to find it because of the bookmarks I bookmarked recently.

  • Plugin-container.exe is using 90-100% CPU - even while running Firefox in safe-mode. Can I fix this?

I am using fire fox 5.0 (after using 3.6 for what seems like forever) and the plugin-container.exe has been sucking up my CPU power like a vampire. It had been doing that in 3.6 but not as much. I figured if I upgraded the problem would go away, but no, it has not. After reading some other similar posts, I ran Firefox in safe mode with no plugins running and sure enough after browsing for a bit it started running slower and used 90-100% of my CPU. Is there any way to fix this issue? Or am I doomed? Thanks in advance for any help you may be able to provide.

That's supposed to show you the problem isn't Firefox, don't know how successful that actually is. You can delete it so that it starts up again. Susggest restarting Firefox when you see it has used about an hour of CPU time as the next hour of CPU time will take shorter to get there and you will be locked out.
Also see this -- the solution on all the items seem to fix a lot of problems with the places.sqlite database.

  • How can I access windowsxp files while running firefox 3.6?

I have WindowsXP installed and use Firefox 3.6 to interface with my computer. Occasionally I need to access run Windows XP. My question is how can I go from Firefox to Windows XP and then go back to Firefox?
    Thanks very much.
    Sid

Firefox is not an interface for the computer, it is just a web browser.
You can close Firefox by selecting File > Exit, and restart Firefox by clicking on its icon. With Firefox open, you can use the Windows task bar to switch to other applications. You can also minimize Firefox by clicking on the minimize button in the top right of the Firefox window.

  • Humming while running firefox

Whenever I browse the internet for more than a minute or two, my powerbook starts to hum.
Its not a spinning up sound, like the hard drive has started working. It is much louder, and sounds like something is working TOO hard. the humming comes from under the keyboard, more to the left than right, but not significantly more.
Sometimes after it has been humming for a couple of minutes, firefox starts to lag and occasionally crashes.
I had a similar problem to this last year, and it ended up being the hard drive, but I replaced it and since then it has been fine. Also, when it was the hard drive, there was nothing regular about when the humming started. It would just start anytime, no specific trigger.
I ran a hardware test and everything checked out ok. I also check my RAM, and both cards are recognized.
Could this just be my computers sick way of telling me I spend too much time on the internet???
    Any advice greatly appreciated.
    Thanks in advance.
    Caity

My PowerBook and iMac both will rev up just sitting at NBA.com for example, a graphics intensive site at times.
Run Activity Monitor from the Utilities folder and watch what is going on.

  • I'm running Windows 7 on a Toshiba Satellite A505-S6035 while running Firefox 4 Beta my video card crashes on a regular basis. Solved it by uninstalling Firefox 4 Beta and running Firefox 3.6. Update for a Firefox 4 Beta?

After installing Firefox 4 Beta my graphics card keept crashing on my laptop. After looking at the reliability report on the laptop i noticed that a key event that happend shortly before the video crashing began was that i installed Firefox 4 Beta. From this i uninstalled Firefox 4 Beta and went back to Firefox 3.6. My laptop has not had a video crash since then.

Thanks for your reply! Actually, yesterday I upgraded to the new kernel (version 3.4.3-1) and my laptop has not freezed since then. So, maybe I will wait for a couple of days and hopefully mark this as solved.
