While trying to burn a cd in itunes, I receive the message "unknown error occurred" (-3)
I had no trouble burning with Itunes until two days ago. When I tried to burn, the disc was prepared, then the burn was cancelled with the message "unknown error occurred" (-3)
I use a speed of 2x to burn discs.
Hey there gmell22,
It sounds like you are unable to burn an audio CD in Windows and are getting this error code number 3. I can see how that would definately be frustrating. I have two articles for you to help resolve the issue. First:
Can't burn a CD in iTunes for Windows

Then:

When I try to download the newest version of iTunes, I get the message : "An error occured during the installation of assembly "policy 8.0 Microsoft VC80.CRT type= "win32-policy".version="8.0.50727.6195.public Key Token="1fc8b3b9a1e18e3b.processorArchitecture = "x86" Please refer to help and support.
Ok I cant find a way to fix this so I basically cant use my Verizon Iphone 4 because it wont connect on an old version...OK. You may have to reinstall everything from scratch but follow following steps:
1. Go to Microsoft website to fix install and Unistall problems. Click "Run now" from Fix it to remove all iTunes & related installer files:
http://support.microsoft.com/mats/Program_Install_and_Uninstall
Be aware that Windows Installer CleanUp Utility will not remove the actual program from your computer. However, it will remove the installation files so that you can start the installation, upgrade, or uninstall over.
2. You should remove all instances of iTunes and the rest of the components listed below:
it may be necessary to remove all traces of iTunes, QuickTime, and related software components from your computer before reinstalling iTunes.
Use the Control Panel to uninstall iTunes and related software components in the following order:
iTunes
QuickTime
Apple Software Update
Apple Mobile Device Support
Bonjour
Apple Application Support (iTunes 9 or later)
Follow the instructions from Apple article listed here: http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1923 to remove all components
3. Reboot your computer. Next, download iTunes from here:http://www.apple.com/itunes/download/ and install from scratch -
When trying to update my apps I get the message, "unknown error occurred", any ideas how to fix this?
I really thought signing out would do because that works frequently for the unknown error message. Try these two things.
Go to Settings>General>Date and Time>Set Automatically>Off. Set the date one year ahead. Try to update the apps again. If you get an error message, go back to the settings. Correct the date and time (set automatically) then go back and try to update the apps again.
Or this ... The old stand by....
Reboot the iPad by holding down on the sleep and home buttons at the same time for about 10-15 seconds until the Apple Logo appears - ignore the red slider - let go of the buttons. -

When I first got my iPhone, I was successfully able to add my music to the iTunes library. Over a period of a month, iTunes hasn't been able to "find" increasingly more of my songs. Then this error message began to appear: unknown error (-54). After listening to tech support I backed up my phone and try to restore it. Afterwards I only had on my phone the songs I had bought. So I tried syncing it again. The same error message as stated before consistently shows up. And now my music is scrambled on my phone (since when did Stevie Wonder sing Mean and Enchanted by Taylor Swift???) Has anyone had this problem? It looks like iTunes is messing up my music. Whats the solution?
Hi Memalyn
Essentially, the bare issue is that you have a 500GB hard drive with only 10GB free. That is not sufficient to run the system properly. The two options you have are to move/remove files to another location, or to install a larger hard drive (eg 2TB). Drive space has nothing to do with SMC firmware, and usually large media files are to blame.
My first recommendation is this: download and run the free OmniDiskSweeper. This will identify the exact size of all your folders - you can drill down into the subfolders and figure out where your largest culprits are. For example, you might find that your Pictures folder contains both an iPhoto Library and copies that you've brought in from a camera but are outside the iPhoto Library structure. Or perhaps you have a lot of purchased video content in iTunes.
If you find files that you KNOW you do not need, you can delete them. Don't delete them just because you have a backup, since if the backup fails, you will lose all your copies.
Don't worry about "cleaners" for now - they don't save much space and can actually cause problems. Deal with the large file situation first and see how you get on.
Let us know what you find out, and if you manage to get your space back.

I tried doing the factory reset by iTunes restore option as the device was diabled due to password wrong entry number of times. It did to some extent and then my device did not get restored to normal. If I keep the power and home button pressed it just shows the apple icon and after some time the screen blinks and goes off and again the same apple icon. If i leave the home button then it shows the symbol to connect to iTunes and on the iTunes it goes to restore option but not happening and I get the unknown error message.

iOS 5 seems to work on my ipad, but apparently something went wrong when restoring. I lost music and movies, and when I connect the ipad to my macbook, I get the message that itunes was interrupted when restoring. I try to restore again and I get the message "An error occurred while restoring this iPad (-50)." What happened and what should I do?
I have had the same issue since day 1 of the ios5 installation. I always hit "Cancel" and then the iPad eventually shows up again in iTunes. Then a few hours later, I get the same message again. Annoying, but I've not found a way around it.
