While typing characters disappear

While typing an email or entering search text in Safari after about 3-4 letters are type they start disappearing or the word totally disappears.
This is sporadic, and can not make it happen.
Restarting does not seem to fix the problem.
What do I look for ?
MacBook Core 2 2Ghz 10.6

Since the last Safari update I have run into the same issue a few times on my iMac. Never had the issue prior to this update. I just quit Safari and relaunch it and it works properly, at least for a while. As for th eissue happening while using mail, are you making sure you are not touching the track pad while typing. I have seen a lot of people do that by accident.

The message suggestions that pop up while typing have disappeared. How do I get this feature back?

I recently upgraded to ios 8.0.2 on the iPhone 5. One new feature I noticed was a grey box that listed word suggestions to add to a text as it was being typed (not to be confused with the auto correct or original word bubble that pops up for autocomplete). It disappeared and I am not sure why or how I can get this feature back.

If there is a thin gray bar with a white dash in the middle immediately above the keyboard, you can reopen the suggestions by placing a finger on the white dash and dragging up.
You can turn the suggestions on/off by going to Settings > General > Keyboard > Predictives

You could just try changing your Input Sources under System Preferences>Language & Text:
But I kind of doubt that's going to work. It may be a hardware problem or a system problem. If you take it into Apple they might be able to determine which and might advise a reinstallation of System software. I would take it to an Apple Store or an AASP but, first, make sure that you have a backup just in case they suggest a clean install of the system.

Checked. I did not have Rollbacks (Tim Horton’s???) enabled...so assume I have lost an hours work. I’m obviously not impressed with the Contribute programmer’s that would allow this to happen...why not just a simple BACK button? I’ll talk to Adobe.

Start Firefox in [[Safe Mode]] to check if one of your add-ons is causing your problem (switch to the DEFAULT theme: Tools > Add-ons > Themes).
See [[Troubleshooting extensions and themes]] and [[Troubleshooting plugins]]
If it does work in Safe-mode then disable all your extensions and then try to find which is causing it by enabling one at a time until the problem reappears.
You can use "Disable all add-ons" on the [[Safe mode]] start window to disable all extensions.
You have to close and restart Firefox after each change via "File > Exit" (Mac: "Firefox > Quit"; Linux: "File > Quit")

How do I hide the keyboard while typing an email?

On the iPad you can hide the keyboard anytime while typing. I cannot see a way to hide the keyboard when typing a mail message. I saw a post saying you close, save, go to your saved messaes and open the message again - too time consuming. There is a fix on the jailbroken site, but I dont want to jailbreak the phone. There must be a way to hide the keyboard in a mail messge. In a text message you can. Any help would be appreciated.

I CAN, but not fully for a preview, as the text box goes up completely after 80 odd characters on the iPhone.
So, now i cannot see a previous message for reference.

Is your problem due to the keyboard or to NeoOffice Characters? You have to change probably the font. Not all fonts are supporting all Unicode sets. Which font you have in your NeoOffice set to write Tamil? Try with Arial Unicode MS for example.
Are the letter e-Ex and ai-Ex right in your posting? If they are right, how you inserted these letters in your posting? By copy and paste or by typing? If by typing, your question is related to NeoOffice. Probably you should reinstall or update NeoOffice? Or switch to OpenOffice?

Ipad 2 typing immediately disappears

A strange ipad2 problem --- I've tried extensive searching but cannot find any posts on this problem.
Problem = typed characters in the email APP disappear immediately after being typed. A hard reset corrects this, but it usually reoccurs in 2-7 days.
- using an apple bluetooth keyboard, but once the problem of typed letters disappearing immediately (only in the email App) occurs, it continues to occur even with the virtual keyboard and the bluetooth keyboard turned off. A hard reset corrects the problem. when the problem occurs it does not affect other areas such as notes, typing there remains normal
- have had the ipad totally wiped out and reloaded at the genius bar, occured again 2-3 days later. Since I wasa told that the problem could be from corrupted data which could be saved by itunes I did not restore the ipad and the problem resurfaced.
- So Apple replaced the ipad with a new one, one week later (I did restore the ipad this time) same problem.
-any ideas, could it be the keyboard? could it be a a "bad" email doing this?

Cursor pauses/skips while typing

i am using win 8. for last 15 days i facing a problem that while typing either in word or anywhere the blinking line typing automatically disappears for a while and reappears and typings remains paused durig that dissapearing
moment.
as i have a habit of typing while seeing the keyboard. so problem arise when like i have to write " i am facing the typing problem " after typing the whole sentence when i look
up at monitor there it would be " i am facithe typoblem "
not only this i have to rename a folder with name " hollywood movies" some times it got renamed as "holly" ror " hollywoo" or '"hol" like this i got the right name after a
lot of try. as you can see while cursor pauses it automatically saves the name i.e. it works like a left click while pausing.
another problem arise when like if i selec some file with left click and waiting for a moment when cursor automtically pauses it deselects the file like nothing has been selected.
pls suggest the solution for thid problem as soon as possible.

If this is on a laptop with a Touchpad under the keyboard you should try to find a way to conveniently toggle off your Touchpad while you are typing. Otherwise disable the Touchpad completely and get a real mouse which can not be affected by the motion
of your hands while you type.

Does speaking while typing not work in every program?

We are trying to use Pages (iWork '08) as word processor with VoiceOver. While typing, VoiceOver does not seem to read the characters and/or words. This works fine, when using e.g. TextEdit, so the VoiceOver preferences seem to be correct.
Does anybody have the same problems?

You're perfectly correct! Pages is not accessible to VoiceOver. VisioVoice from AssistiveWare has a spoken interface which provides some assistance with this, but it's clumsy and awkward to produce and edit documents in Pages.
This has already been reported to the iWork development team, but please do submit a bug report to Apple via the feedback page. The greater the pressure, the quicker we'll get iWork accessible throughout!

ALT+S problem while typing in Blend in Polish

Polish language has some special characters which are generated by pressing ALT+Letter (e.g. ALT+a=ą?, ALT+e=ę?, ALT s=ś?). Following the update of Blend to 1.2 pressing ALT+s while typing email sends the message to the recipients. It used to be the case in previous version of Blend but I believe it only worked if the Windows language was set to English. If Windows language was set to Polish pressing ALT+s did not cause the message to be sent.
This problems makes usign Blend for typing in Polish almost impossible. Any ideas for a solution or hopes this bug will be fixed in the upcoming version of Blend?

Go to Settings>General>Keyboards>Predictive Text>ON. If it is on, you can toggle it off and then back on. The other method is to check in the typing area of the Messages app and it could be minimized. You would see a small line in the center just below the typing area. You would just need to put your finger on that small line and swipe upwards. But either should bring it back.

Chinese font characters disappearing in CS6

I need to redesign an InDesign file that is in Chinese and originally created in CS5. When I open the document in CS6 some characters disappear (no pink box). When I substitute the font with another Simplified Chinese font, some of the missing characters appear but then I lose other characters. Is this a CS6 issue? Any solutions?

Chinese fonts can vary dramatically in character count, whether simplified or traditional, but older simplified fonts are particularly small (GB vs. GBK, etc.): the ChineseMac site has a handy list showing character counts for a bunch of fonts. And sometimes ID doesn't show a pink box, just a blank.
Differences can be really subtle. Several years ago I worked on a job using Adobe Fangsong, if I recall correctly. Some stuff disappeared on a colleague's machine, and it turned out he was using a version of the font bundled with an earlier version of InDesign and hadn't installed the revised font when upgrading ID. (The older one lacked some of the vertical punctuation symbols I'd added to the files.)
