While updateing iphone 3gs, lost internet connection. now only option is to restore in itunes. I just want to finish update!
I was updating my iphone 3gs. I lost internet connection when my went to restart (I forgot I was using hotspot). Now when I connect my phone to finish, the only option it gives me is to restore. I don't want to do this. I have disconnected and restarted phone and macbook pro. Software is up to date. What can I do?
If the only option is giving is to restore or has a connect to itunes logo - then that is the only option you have. You may need to put it in forced recovery mode in order to restore. http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1808?viewlocale=en_US
Once restored you can restore from a backup or sign into icloud in order to recover any contacts, etc that you had on the phone previously. If you are still missing contacts, which is usually one of the most important things on a phone than make sure you have added any and all email accounts you previously had on the phone.

well first make sure that when you click on the name of your iphone on the left hand side of itunes that you go to the app and music tab and check mark the sync apps and sync music. then try clicking apply in the bottom right hand corner. then if not try doing it again after going to prefrences in the top menu and going to devices tab and click reset sync history if that doesnt work with music try and drop and drag to the name of your iphone, lastly if that doesnt work you can try restoring from a backup from before you updated. it will keep the new software but put everything that was on your phone when you created the backup back onto your phone.

IPhone 3GS: Push e-mail now only works on 3GS, not WiFi

Well, my iPhone 3GS (iOS 5.1.1, which it's been running for a long time) suddenly stopped receiving pushed e-mail from my Yahoo e-mail account (the only one of my accounts that offers push) over WiFi at home. Now Push only works when I'm on 3G. It used to work on both. Any ideas?

- restarted the phone?
- made a hard reset? Simultaneously press the sleep/wake and the home buttons for 10-15 seconds until the device reboots (ignore the shutdown screen).
- force quit the app? When in the app, press on the sleep/wake button until the shutdown screen appears, then press the home button until the app quits. -
Iphone 32G 3GS crashed during upgrade now wont turn on or restore in itunes
i was performing the latest upgrade last night (4.0 i think) and half way thru i accidentally knocked the USB cable from the laptop and the upgrade did not complete and now the phone will not turn on except to tell me to connect to itunes and when i do its wont retore the phone to the original settings either. i cannot use my phone at all - HELP!!!
I had this same problem before. You have to put your phone in DFU mode to be able to successfully restore your iPhone. I'd recommend not restoring from a backed up profile and just starting a new one when you do get it restored. I'd recommend one of the "Alternative Methods". The first method is tricky because the timing has to be perfect.
Just a word of advice though, I'd strongly recommend staying on iPhone OS 3.1.3 until Apple releases iOS 4.1. There is an increase of people having performance issues on the 3GS with iOS 4.0. I was one of them, but just downgraded back to 3.1.3 and am not having any of those issues any longer.

Lost internet connection while restoring iphone 4S from backup after iOS 6
Hi everyone..
I have just updated my iPhone 4S to iOS6 yesterday. It was iOS5.1.1 and was in jailbreak mode before the update.
I did sync my iphone and did the 'Backup' as well before the update by using my latest iTunes via my laptop.
The iOS6 update was successful.
However, the 'Restore from backup' failed.. many times!! Everytime I tried to Restore from backup, i lost internet connection towards the end of the 'restore in progress' process so it was never complete. I had to pull out the iphone cable or restart my pc every single time that happened. Because i cannot get an internet connection after that happened. I cannot connect to any wireless network, so I had to restart the pc!
(the iPhone says 'Restore complete' as soon as I pulled out the cable. But phone stays as NEW phone, none of my backup data was restored).
During the 'restore from backup' attempts (via iTunes 10.7 on laptop), I have tried:
- Restoring to factory settings first and then restore from backup = tried many times and still failed.
- Uninstalled Apple mobile device and iTunes and re-installed them = still failed.
- Switched OFF the phone and hold the Home button while connecting to the laptop. Restored to factory settings, then tried to restore from backup = still failed!!
- switching to different USB ports on my laptop including USB 2.0 and USB 3.0 = no luck, still failed.
NOTES:
-Laptop is on Windows 7 and have had NO such problems so far. I have been using iPhone since 3GS.
-Internet connection is via wireless router, steady connection.
-My 3GS was on jailbreak mode before. I bought iPhone 4S and successfully restored from my '3GS backup' without any problem.
-iTunes 10.7 installed/updated.Nevermind.. I just found the solution to my problem.
I copied the Backup folder into my mate's laptop and did the 'Restore from backup'.
All is good now.. Only need to re-install my apps, soon after all will be back as per normal! -

First let me say that I am ready to throw this POS in the lake. Is there a way that I can control iTunes with my iPhone without any internet connections? On my houseboat I have a wifi router and want to connect my phone to my computer to control my music which plays from my computer through my stereo. I can easily do it with my laptop without having to jump through any internet APPLE BS , but I dont want to have my laptop out on the deck. I just want to use the phone as a remote control.
Remote wont do it because it keeps saying Im not connected to the internet, even though is is connected to my computer. Same problem with JumiAmp.It should have an option to manage iTunes library without network connection, like Bluetooth or connect directly to the computer without a router or wi-fi, i live outsite of the city and i dont have the ability to control my iTunes librry from the iphone

I was in the middle of a restore on my Ipad 2 and lost internet connection about 2/3 of the way through the firmware update, and now it fails everytime I try to restore. It says ERROR 2. Can anyone help?

since installing the latest update on my iphone 3gs this afternoon whatsapp now says it cannot access my photos. I have gone to settings-location services- but whatsapp is not listed in the list below. Please help!!!!

There is no logical expectation for Whatsapp to be listed under location services or for that to have any affect on what the app can access. -
In the middle of downloading an update for garage band and lost the connection, now the app won't open or finish the download. Can I reinstall the app without losing my music?
The obvious way to resolve this on a computer would be to uninstall the app, then reinstall it, however on an iOS device that would cause all the data assoicated with the app to be thrown away.
Make sure your iTunes library has the latest updates for all your apps, then backup and restore the device. This should pull back a fresh copy of the app from your iTunes library and then give it the data from your device backup.

Just one month before i bought iphone 5... but the iphone has the internet connectivity problem... while a iphone 4s is cathcing 3G tower, whereas iphone 5 is catching 2G network only.... I've tried so many things to get recovered, but alas, nothing is workable- such as- restaring the iphone, reseting the networks etc... Please help me out from this problem..
to be clear, my phone works fine when not in motion in a vehicle. If I pull over and come to a complete stop, remaining in the car, my phone works.
And while the phone is not working when I'm in motion, an internet search or a text message will go through, but I can not use Siri or any voice assistance when doing the text message or internet search. The microphone is greyed out.
So this is a unique issue, which appears to be the iPhone and not Verizon. -

Try use "forget this network" then re enter the wep/wpa key (network password) this happens sometimes with my iTouch.
Other than that, there is no reason the iPhone cannot connect. =/
