White accessories and cases for unibody 15" pro

Hi...i'm getting a new macbook pro 15" unibody. For some reason, i'm just enamored with the white mac stuff. i have the white iPhone and love the look and was hoping to find an all white, sleek case for the mbpro. i can find black ones...red ones...purple ones and more...but no white. i've thought about the idea of getting some plain white decals from macstyles.com but thought i'd hear from anyone else who might have any ideas. thanks.

That largely depends on eactly which year and MacBook Pro (e.g., 5,1 ) model you are talking about, as well as whether you are rather "handy" and can do the swap yourself.
On older Macs, used complete screens are available on the secondary from machines that have died. Step-by-step photo-illustrated guides are also available for sources like ifixit.com. [Their motivation for providing these guides for free is that some readers will buy their parts to make the repairs themselves.]
Newer Macs may be valuable enough that having Apple fix them may be cost-effective. A free appointment at the genius Bar (with no obligation to proceed with ANY repairs) can get you a quote to consider.

Protective Case for my Macbook Pro?

ive been looking for a protective case (shell) for my Macbook Pro 15", but all the ones i keep finding are for the older model (black keys, 2 USB ports on the left instead of 1 like mine has etc..).

Your post is very confusing, since it's the current models that have black keys and all their ports on the left side. The older models have silver keys and ports on both sides. You seem to have gotten this backwards, and you don't tell us clearly which model you have. Choose About This Mac from the Apple menu, click "More Info", and tell us what appears in System Profiler > Hardware as the Model Identifier for your MBP. It will be something like 3,1 or 5,1 — a number in that format. That will tell us what sort of MBP you need a shell for.

No one from Apple here - we're just users like you. All I can tell you is that electronic fail and with MacBook Pros (and most notebooks) the components are so integrated as to make a repair to the logic board practically impossible, hence the high prices charged for repairs.
Only you can decide if you want to have your computer repaired or put the money towards the purchase of a new computer. If you do decide to purchase a new unit I would suggest that you also purchase the AppleCare Protection Plan which increases your warranty from one year to three years.

The New cases say Unibody and for the new 13.3'' Macbook Pro. My computer was bought in 2010 does it fit the Unibody standard? Should I get this case?

I think the best / strongest / hardest cases are the MacTruck
They aren't light but mine's been round the world a few times and kept my MBP safe in some crazy situations (like schools can be)

Best Windows version and drive for my Mac Pro?

I am looking to purchase an new internal drive for my new mac pro exclusively for the purpose of installing windows and playing pc games via BootCamp. Questions: Which drive will work best for this?(looking for 500GB or less) and which version of Windows will be more reliable and perform best (XPpro, XPhome, Vista) in my system? Thanks!!

I just had exactly the same situation- I looked at different hard drives and bought the Western Digital Caviar Black WD6401AALS from Buy.com for about $78.00. Incidentally when you look at the prices of these products , the range is very tight- just $9 get you an additional 140 gigs and the black series is much faster than the SEII series for only a slight increase in cost. The drive is fast and quiet.
I tried using boot camp to install Vista ultimate and got a series of formatting error messages, then pulled out my mac OS drive, installed Vista without any trouble at all, then installed the drivers to be used with the mac pro and boot camp for windows. Works great so far. Then I reinstalled the mac os hard drive and now can boot into windows or mac. The 64 bit version of vista ultimate is very fast on the mac pro (2008 version).

I just bought a Macbook Pro, an upgrade from my iBook G4, and need to get a sleeve. I definitely want something that has hard edges that will fit in my messenger bag, as I ride the bus and my bag sits on the floor of the bus when it is full. What are peoples recommendations? I was looking at the Booq Viper M2, but would welcome suggestions.

What's the best case for my Macbook Pro Retina? College Student.

I have a 13 inch Macbook Pro Retina and since I will be going to college next year I am looking to protect my laptop. Any suggestions on cases or anything? Thank you!!

I wouldn't bother. The case is a tough, metal shell.
Putting any sort of covering over that is just going to attract dirt, dust and possibly interfere with cooling.

Wireless equipment and setup for Mac Book Pros

I've recently bought a Mac Book Pro after having used PC's since the 80's. Like it so much, I ordered a second machine for my wife.
Question: Using my Linksys wireless router used originally with our PC's, I've made several attempts to wireless network the two Macs using our same DSL connection but have failed each time.
Can someone tell me what I need in terms of equipment and also where to find the instructions to set up both Macs via the wireless mode.
Apparently, I'm clueless.

Your Macs should work with the same wireless equipment as your Windows PCs.
But, in my experience, there have been some problems with some versions of OS X and some versions wireless router firmware - specifically in the area of WPA wireless security.
The first thing I would try is reconfiguring the Linksys to run an open network, with no security. If the MacBook Pro is able to connect correctly, reconfigure the Linksys with a new SSID (wireless network name) and enable WEP security. If that works correctly, reconfigure the Linksys with a new SSID and WPA2 security.
I suggest using different SSID's for these tests because the Mac saves information about the wireless connections based on the SSID; using different SSID's for the different security settings reduces the chance the Mac will get confused by the security changes.

Is it normal and safe for my macbook pro to be at this temp

So I installed Starcraft 2 onto my 2010 Macbook Pro 15" i7 and I also installed Fan Control. When I play starcraft 2 i noticed that the fans get louder and some parts of the computer are hot. I checked the fan control to see the temps and they reach 60-65 degrees. Is this ok? What would be the threshold of the computer?

If the CPU temperature of your machine rises into the high 90s (C.) and stays there even with the fans running at or near 6000RPM, then you may have a problem of some kind that requires attention. If the CPU temperature ever reaches 105°C, the MBP will shut down for its own protection. That is the upper limit of the CPU's safe operating range, according to Intel's specifications.
