White artifacts/stitching in between vector layers

Hi there,
I am not sure what I am doing wrong here but I have an illustration I did and when exporting as a PDF I get these white stitch marks inbetween the layering. My steps previous to that were Object > Live paint, where I finalized colouring of my illustration. I'm guessing live paint probably made the layers space out a bit, but I wouldn't see why. The layers are fine when in Illustrator, it's only when I export it into PDF. I would have put a image up but the forum doesn't allow me to post PDFs for some reason. Thanks for the help in advance.

Hi Mike,
I tried those settings and the lines go away, but now the lines look a lot more jagged and not very smooth. My main concern is if I send them off to the printers, will the final product look jagged or smooth?

  • White dust & lint under or between the layers of my iPhone 3G touchscreen

    I have white dust & lint under or between the layers of the touchscreen? More of the "white dust" seems to be contained in the lower 1/3 of my iPhone 3G. I ran a test by putting up a large "black color" wallpaper to see the detail of the dust. It's not as easy to see in a "white" or browser background.
    1. Will Apple let me get a new iPhone 3G because of the dust?
    How can I get it out?
    Is it coming from the large Apple usb apple connector at the bottom of the iPhone, maybe from sliding in & out of my pocket?

    Its possible. If the dust is a result of a defect then they will probably replace it. Make an appointment at your nearest genius bar and discuss the issue.
    The worst they can say is no.

  • JDeveloper Error: White spaces are required between publicId and systemId.

    I'm using JDeveloper 10.1.3.1.0.
    This error is occurring in a BPEL process project.
    With one particular web service I have, adding a Partner Link to the BPEL generates the following compile error:
    Error: White spaces are required between publicId and systemId.
    I can add Partner links from other web services and the BPEL will compile fine. The main difference I can see is that this web service supports WS-Addressing.
    I have found one other reference to a similar (but not exactly the same) problem elsewhere in these forums but the fix is not really applicable. All of the wsdl files pass the "Validate WSDL" operation, and I don't see anything wrong with them.
    When the error occurs and I select "Go To Source" it points back to the first line of the bpel file.
    Can anyone help me out on this?

    I have discovered two issues.
    1. JDeveloper does not seem to like the SOAP 1.2 envelope and encoding namespaces. Is this a known limitation? Changed them to 1.1.
    2. JDeveloper does not like the double definition of wsaDemoResult.
    When these two items are changed, the bpel compiles clean. Now I've got to get the message header to populate correctly. There are no values assigned, only namespace definitions. This is the SOAP packet that is received at the web service.

  • Why does Illustrator CS5.5 crash when opening 1.5GB sized vector layered files on my iMac OS X?

    Why does Illustrator CS5.5 crash when opening 1.5GB sized vector layered files on my iMac OS X?

    1.5GB for a vector file is very large. If you can ever open this file would recomend  file >> save as >> turn off PDF compatibility.
    Can you please tell us why your file is so large, you may have a problem such as deleted global swatches, or an exceptionally large number of items in your symbols, styles, brushes palette. For even the most complex illustration filling the entire 227.54" artboard, you should be under 20mb if you have no embedded or linked images.

  • Org.xml.sax.SAXParseException: White spaces are required between publicId

    Hi,
    Im migrating an application from weblogic to tomcat 5.5.23 with java 1.5. application involved PDF generation using xalan.jar for transformation. tht pdf generation part is not working in tomcat. Im getting a "org.xml.sax.SAXParseException: White spaces are required between public-Id and system id" error.
    so i replaced the old xalan.jar with latest one ( xalan 2.7.1 ) still no use. I have also explicitly defined the property "javax.xml.transform.TransformerFactory" to "org.apache.xalan.processor.TransformerFactoryImpl" still getting the same exception.
    plz help
    Thanks in Advance.

    I have had good results using JTidy to parse HTML into a DOM.

  • Live tracing a jpg gave me a white square with a few vectors

    I used the 3D Revolve effect to create a sphere. I then "expanded appearance" to try and "subtract from shape area" a portion of the sphere. It ended badly. So I copied and pasted the sphere into Photoshop, removed the portions I wanted gone and placed it into Illustrator in hopes "live trace" would save my bacon. It didn't. When I select the graphic and choose expand "live trace", it gives me a white square with a few vector points in it. What am I doing wrong?
    Thanks in advance!

    Go to Live Trace Trace Options so you can change the setup to color then choose 4 or 5 or 6 colors and check ignore white you get this.
    You have to change the option to color or convert to grayscale and choose grayscale the default is b&w which is not what you want.

  • White spaces are required between publicId and systemId

    Hello,
    I'm new to Java/XML and have been searching the XML forums for a viable answer trying to get around this error
    "White spaces are required between publicId and systemId"
    I'm a little unsure of this, however my understanding of this error is that "whitespace" must exist between my "tag entities". So I have modified my XML document to include white space between entities...below is a snippet of my XML doc
    // Begin snippet...
    <auth>
    <userid>
    12345
    </userid>
    <first>
    first value
    </first>
    <second>
    </second>
    </auth>
    //End snippetBelow is the fragment of code I use to set up and parse the XML parse
          SAXParserFactory spf = SAXParserFactory.newInstance();
          //spf.setNamespaceAware(true);
          SAXParser saxParser = spf.newSAXParser();
          XMLReader parser = saxParser.getXMLReader();
          urlConnection = url.openConnection();
          in = urlConnection.getInputStream();
          ins = new InputSource( in );
          // create a handler
          Handler handler = new Handler();
          handler.setBVSessionData( bvdata );
          // assign the handler to the parser
          parser.setContentHandler(handler);
          parser.parse( ins ); // SAXException is thrown here...what gives??
    //...In addition, I'm able to read the XML file fine if I point the URL to the XML file locally on my PC, however when the XML doc is served by a web server over HTTP, then read by my app, the SAXException is thrown. Any insight or examples is greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance.

    In case anybody is interested here is what I've been able to find...thanks to a little helpful book "XML and Java 2nd Edition" [Maruyama, Tamra, Uramoto, Murata, Clark]
    Since I'm using a SAX parser the example doesn't really help. However the book references a DOM parser and uses a "getIsIgnorableWhitespace()" method which as my luck may have it is not available in SAX...
    The book goes on to state there are two ways to tell an XML processor or an application if certain whitespace is significant:
    1) "Define the significant whitespace in the content models in the DTD"
    2) "Specify the xml:space="preserve" attribute in an XML document in order to indicate the intent that applications preservce all whitespace"
    Can anybody elaborate on the above, especially #1 or even provide an example that would work with SAX. Thanks...

  • Layered vector AI file with raster (Photoshop) layers included as vector layers?

    I've been using Illustrator since the late 80's but this request just now came up for the first time, twice in one day: the clients each want me to send them layered files (OK-no problem) wherein all the layers, even the raster layers, register as vector layers. Or at least all the layers, regardless of file-type (vector or raster) are contained within an unflattened Illustrator file. One of the clients specifically asked that the Type layer (No problem-all the type is on one layer) be  "vector mapped", whatever that means, while all the other layers can be Photoshop layers, if necessary.  So how do I hand them an open, unflattened Illustrator file containing both vector art and raster art?  Can someone point me to a Knowledgebase article or a previous post that addresses it? Can it be done in Acrobat, as a PDF? I'm working in AI and PS CS5, but I can and will upgrade if I have to.

    I read your post in the PS forum as well.
    Point is, just send them the unflattened AI or PS file with live type--type that one could double-click on the text layer in PS or use the type tool in AI to edit the text. That's the gist of it. Hopefully they have those fonts. If they do not have the fonts, you can outline the type in AI and it is still vector, just not editable as type.
    And you likely have some client education needed. They need to understand the ramifications of using live type insofar as they need to own the exact same fonts you are using (you cannot legally just supply the fonts, they need to purchase the fonts) in order to prevent issues if they want to edit the type.
    And yes, you can export as a PDF and keep the text live depending upon the effects used, else it could be rasterized. Something they evidently do not want.
    Good luck. Mike

  • Selecting vector layers issue

    I have tons of layers in my projects. So i like to select them visually by Ctrl+click (auto-select is unchecked and mode is layer) It works fine for me with raster layers.
    But if i try to select vector layers, this works in some kind of "sticky mode": when i ctrl+click outside surface of vector layer, but close enough (about 5-10px) it do selects. Why ?
    Is this some kind of bug? I'dont want photoshop to act like this. More logical for me is to select vector layers same as raster (or smartobjects) when selection made only if cursor is exactly at surface of vector layer.... Any idea?
    ps I have windows platform  and photoshop CS6 (ver13.0 x64)

    Yes this vector shapes are quite  simple, created by rectangle tool and of course solid... That is why im confused, cos if i create rectangle vector layer, try to select it  with ctrl+click, this strage behavior takes place (i can select it beeng just close to it) if i rastrize this layer, then everything works fine - i can select it only if cursor is precisly inside shape, 1px outside and it wouldnt select...

  • PSD Placement in Muse (Retain Vector Layers)

    So in my eyes, Muse is for those like me. We can design, but can't code. Caters basically to designers without any HTML or CSS knowledge. Well, I think Muse needs to make a few improvements to really be a graphic designer's go-to tool for web design.
    I always prefer starting a website concept in Illustrator or Photoshop. It handles and renders images, text and vectors perfectly. Everything looks pixel perfect. This is why I would prefer to build an entire website in Photoshop first, then export elements to then re-organize in Muse.
    The problem with this process is that it is very time consuming. When I discovered that I could place a PSD file's layers into Muse, I was excited! BUT, that feature is a little behind the times... Every layer from that PSD is treated as a rasterized image. Logos, and even some text elements I like to use SVG (which is awesome that Muse can import SVG now). But this place PSD tool is useless to those smart object layers in the PSD file. This should be a feature to be added to reflect the new SVG support in Muse.
    On a side note / problem, Muse' handling of SVG files is pretty poor. It's not anything like handling a vector in Illustrator or Photoshop. It has the loading style spinning wheel when moved and sized, and has this odd white bar below each image in Muse preview. I wish Muse would render things properly within Muse. It's highly frustrating as a pixel-obsessed graphic designer.
    Adobe, please take note and add these to your to-do list!

    Thanks for your input , please feel free to add your suggestions in our ideas section. We are working actively to include more features.
    Thanks,
    Sanjit

  • White space/stripes in between cropped clips

    Hi there,
    I have shot a video of an rotating object in a photo studio (see example below) on which the cardboard sides are visible.
    My goal is to stretch the background on both sides of the rotating object to get rid of the cardboard and create an infinite studio.
    So;
    - I created 2 copies of the original footage
    - I cropped the first copy from the left side of the object to the left screen
    - I cropped the second copy from the right side of the object to the right side of the screen
    - I scaled both copies in width to the point where the cardboard disappeared out of the screen
    - Finally I created a little overlap of both copies with the original so there was no gap between the left and right side
    - Voila, I created a infinite studio
    Here is the problem; reviewing the file in Adobe Premiere everything looks perfect. But the rendered file shows two white stripes in the middle of the screen (on the edges of the cropped clips).
    I have no idea how to fix this.
    Can you help me?
    Smile, Tom

    Thank you for your replies! I am not very experienced when it comes to Adobe Premiere Pro, but thanks to your help I solved the problem!

    I am completely new to using linear wipe and masks. But due to the tutorials I found (which where based on transitions between clips) I am a bit wiser now.
    Thank you. I have also looked at the waveform monitor, and though I think I've seen the "spikes" you where talking about, I have to admit that it looked like complete abracadabra to me!
    @Ann Bens
    Thank you, your solution makes sense. But the footage I've shot has a flicker in it which makes the background color change from grey to wh
    What I did:
    I kept all the layers and used Featered Crop from Creative Impatience to feather the overlaping parts of the layers. The rendered file had no stripes and looked perfect!
    Again, thank you all for taking the time to help me!

  • WHITE LINES APPEARING ON PHOTOSHOP Cs6 LAYERS THAT PREVIOUSLY WERE NOT IN THE SAVE FILE -

    I Keep having this reoccuring problem today - white lines keep appearing attatched to certain & all layers in photoshop files that I have, the only solution that seems to get rid of them is to put a mask on the layer and mask the line away, these are appearing on text, smart objects & rastersized layers. They were not there when I previously saved the file and they should not be there now, I then went to open another file I had and white lines started to appear on the files. This is really frustrating because some of the website documents have alot of layers. I have attatched an example below, they only appear to be 1 pixel and can range up to 2500pixels wide and they overlap making the line look thicker sometimes. Any advise would be great, Thanks.

    Trevor,
    I had been thinking about a display issue too, but upon re-reading the post, it sounded like the artifact was consistant on each Image (different place for each, but then always the same place for THAT Image). I was about to inquire about the video driver, but the location aspect prompted me to forget that possibility - still, I could well be wrong, and you could be correct.
    We'll just to wait a bit, and see.
    In a worst-case, the OP could send me a PM (Personal Message), and I can provide my POP address, to have them attach an offending PSD to an e-mail. I would be glad to test it on my systems, to see if something jumps out. However, as Csuebelle asked, having the file posted, for many to explore it, would be better than just one of us trying to track down the culprit.
    I have encountered something similar, when I moved Layer Masks around in DVD Menus, and one was just a tad too small, revealing pixels that I intended to mask out - usually a DUH! moment for me, but easy to fix. Not sure if this is what we have, or something else? Often, what appears to be the same issue, looks like the same issue, is actually something totally different.

  • Quick tip help. How to add to vector layers using shape tool

    This is something that's bugged me for a few versions and I'm sure someone has a tip for this.
    When I use Shape Layer tool, I get a solid color with a vector mask. The tool always makes a new layer every time I use the tool. So to get around that, I draw my shapes (one per layer) and then use the Path Selection Tool and cut and paste between Shape Layer layers.
    How can I draw another shape on a currently selected Vector Mask? (I want to build compound Pathfinder-like shapes)

    Yes, press the shift key to add to the current shape layer (vector mask).

  • Flattener causing stitching on transparent vectors?

    Hi I've been using adobe acrobat and the flattener preview under the advanced>print production menu. Before I flatten it, this is what it looks like.
    http://img171.imageshack.us/img171/1906/normalv.jpg
    After using the flatterner, on high resolution tranparency settings, This is what I get.
    http://img692.imageshack.us/img692/2503/cutp.jpg
    The original file was made in Illustrator saved as a pdf 1.4, the box that the stitching happens to is a transparent vector shape.
    I have read somewhere in the forums that this may be a result of Acrobat creating atomic areas? And if I turn on smooth line art, this will not appear on the press. However when I reopen the pdf in Illustrator, the shapes are physically split and are actually in 4 pieces, one of them being larger than the other, hence creating that stitched artifact.
    How do I remedy this?

    Hi Bill,
    Thanks for the reply.
    Well as I stated in my original post,
    Hi I've been using adobe acrobat and the flattener preview under the advanced>print production menu. Before I flatten it, this is what it looks like.

    So I'm not sure what I haven't said. I'm don't know how I can even clarify any more: I have a pdf I made in Illustrator, that I opened in Adobe Acrobat Pro 9, and I'm using the Flattener Preview function under the Advanced> Print Production menu..to flatten transparent objects?

  • Difference between vector obj.clear() and Vector obj = null

    What is the difference between clearing the Vector object with .clear() method and assigning null value to Vector object?
    As per memory point of view, is it advisable to first clear vector and then assaign it to null for garbage collection or it doesn't make any difference.
    Vector may contains large volume of data.
    Please reply this if any one has fair idea regarding this.
    Thanks in advance.

    What is the difference between clearing the Vector
    object with .clear() method and assigning null value
    to Vector object?
    Vector victor = new Vector(); //victor is a reference to a Vector object
    victor.clear(); //now that Vector object has no elements
    victor = null; //now victor is a null reference; it doesn't point to any Vector object
    //if that was the only reference to that Vector, the Vector is now available to be GC'ed.
    As per memory point of view, is it advisable to first
    clear vector and then assaign it to null for garbage
    collection or it doesn't make any difference.Hard to say. My gut says there will be no advantages to first clearing it. You'd have to try and measure.
