White Background under an image

Hello!
I'm not English so I'm sorry for my bad english. I hope of able at good explain.
I have a problem with after effects:
I wanted to import an image in after effect. but when I imported it there was a white background under the image...
So, I tried to delete this background with photoshop:
I copied only the image in a empty level and I deleted the background level.
When I imported the image there was another time the white background.
How can I solve?

But to what format did you save it? In order to retain the trnasprency, you need to use ther PSD format or formats like TIFF and PNG. Nothing is achieved, if you save to JPEG or such, since they cannot support transparency channels. Also make sure, you are actualyl importing the transparency by picking the layer in the PSD import dialog or importing the whole document as a comp. If you just choose to import the merged layers and still have the original in teh background, of course you will only end up without any transparency again... I recomemnd you read the help for Photoshop and AE on how to get the best out of both for such workflows...

I'm having trouble with something in firefox, it's quite minor but still bugs me. Last night suddenly when I right-click-view-images in firefox, they appear centered and against a black background. It's usually meant to be a white background and the image appearing at top left. I can't remember what I did to change this if it's my fault; if someone knows how to revert it I'd be thankful.

cor-el : thanks for the pointers! I wish the solution isn't an add-on every time ... if such long-standing behaviour is going to change, the least that could be done is put in an about:config option to get back the old behaviour.

  • White background of extracted image prints in pdf

    Hi'ya
Using the "Extract" filter to crop a photo in Photoshop 7.0 allowed me to extract a person from a photo and it was saved as a .psd file.
In my InDesign 2.0.1 layout, the psd file looks great and as it was an extracted image, I can put things in the foreground or background for a layering effect.
I go to make a pdf and the pdf looks great on screen but when it comes to printing a white but invisible box prints around the psd file and blocks off items behind it.
    HELP!

Did You export a pdf 1.3?
And what kind of printing are You talking about? Offset or some office inkjet?
Because in my experience the Acrobat preview (if Overprint Preview is active at least) represents the actual output very closely; and therefore I wonder if the printer or the RIP may be at fault.
But actually I think the problem might be better fit for the Acrobat forum as Photoshop seems not to be the cause of the problem.

  • Color match the 'white' background of 2 images

I created an image with two cubes and added two dices to show the scale of the cubes. It seemed ok, but when I looked from a different angle I noticed the white of the background of the dices is different from the white of the total picture. How can I easily correct the background without messing up the shadows of the dices?

You can use levels to pull off white to white. Try levels as an adjustment layer first, as that is non-destructive meaning to you alter or remove that layer any time in the future.

  • HOW DO I Make White Background of an Image layer transparent?

i used photoshop to open a photo with a person and background and delete the background so that now it's white with the person still fully intact.
I open the file in and lay this image layer on top of another video layer track in fcut express and hoped that the background would be gone so it would look like my person is in the movie. I saved the pic as JPEG even tried it with GIF and then selected the SCREEN option or the subract or the alpha and nothing makes it transparent .how?
    fcut express 3.5.1

yes, use psd (tiff or png) format. jpg will not work.
also, make sure you delete the "background" layer in photoshop. the picture should appear then sitting on a checkerboard indicating transparency. the background layer in photoshop by itself is not transparent by default.

  • White Background Image how do I take off?

Hey guys, recently I made my first project and it looks like this:
    https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hXQEDreFoe4
Problem im thinking of doing the same concept but I dont want the white background of the image.
Does anybody know how I can erase the white background and only show the red/black letters? Thank you!

A media player will always have a background. If you remove any colored background you'll get black, not transparent because no media player, not YouTube, not Vimeo, not Widows Media Player, not Quicktime, will render a transparent background. Without seeing a screenshot of your project with all properties revealed by pressing the U key twice, it is impossible to give you step by step instructions for changing the background but the most likely solution is to turn off or delete the bottom layer and replace it with something else.

  • Gallery Images: How to make clear PNG's open in full screen with a white background?

    Hi,
So in the Life on Earth textbook, there is an image of an ant that has no background, so when you pick it up, you can see the text below without the standard "white box" around it.
I've scorwed the internet looking for answers but couldn't find any.
Please see the photos snapped from my phone of this:
Unfortunately... When I try to achive this, my images open on a black background.
I can achive the pick up.
Would really appreicate the help. Thanks...
    Grant

Well, if I put a white background in my image, it opens in full screen with a white background. But has a white square when I pick it up:
This is with a 2028 x 1496 image same as above, just no background - came out of Illustrator - and this has the effect I want, as the first post but still opens to full screen with a black background.
Thanks for the help... Hope to get this one figured out!

  • Move image to larger white background

I have Elements 5 and use it to prepare photos of products for my website.  My photos need to be square with a white background.  Several of my vendors supply product photos, but many of them are not square and are cropped too closely to the product for me to crop again without cutting off crucial parts of the product.  Is there anyway for me to place the product image on top of a larger white background?

Using Image>Resize>Canvas Size is one way and then crop the image
    so it's square.

  • How do I remove a white background from a photo of a watercolour painting.

How do I remove a white background from an image of a botanical watercolour painting?

Is the logo in a pixel layer surrounded by white?
You could make it a layer if it isn't already, then use the Layer Style dialog and set the Blend If parameter so that it will make light colors transparent...
You can composite it into a web page with transparency by saving it as a PNG file, as JJMack has noted.

  • Creating a white background

Hello.  I am trying to create a white background in my images; eliminating shadows in the photos.  Currently, I am using the quick selection tool to wrap the image, then I'm clicking on the oval icon in the bottom right corner, and I'm clicking on curves, and moving the graph to the upper left to get a pure white background.  My question is there another way to use the quick selection tool to wrap the image?  I'm asking this because when I'm using the quick selection tool, it doesn't always cover the right areas of the image.  Is there a way to wrap the image at the pixel level to get a more accurate selection of the image, so other areas do not get selected when using the quick selection tool?

  • Make white background transparent

This Q must be very old. Why can´t someone invent a sigle button for this I have tried all the things by the book but still when I try to lay text image with white background over an image the white is still there althoug I made it transparent. tried to sa for web as png-8, png-24 and gif. nothing works. To use magic wand gives bad result when applied to text? So what can I do? I am trying to place text over image. I know I could write it over the image but I need the text as a transparent layer some place else.
    thanks

Use one of the selection tools, e.g. selection brush, lasso tool, to select the object
Place the object on its own layer -  Layer menu>new>layer via copy or CTRL+J
Place a blank layer between the background layer and the layer with the object, then place your new background on this blank layer.
You should have 3 layers: Background layer that you started with, the blank layer with substitute background, layer with object at top.
    Here I selected the swan
Placed a blank layer below the layer with the swan
Filled this layer with a gradient for demonstration.

  • Anyway to eliminate white background tone when using multiply

I'm multiplying 3 different monotone clips on top of each other. The montone was created using BASICS/ COLORIZE and remaping the white to white and the black to a specific RBG. The clips are then placed onto of each other and blended using COMPOSITING / MULTIPLY. The issue I'm having is that tone in highlights is creates frame edges to appear. Is there anyway to completely remove the white background and multiply the images so that the background edges don't show? I could increase the contrast but this takes away tone from the faces. See the attached clip reference.

How about using a Keyer effect to key out the white background in each image? You could then add a white background or just set it in the preferences.

  • How can I add .PNG images to templates without getting a white background?

I'm having problems with a image field when I add a .png image which doesnt have a background it is showing up with a white background. Is it possible to use images in templates so you can overlay them on something else?

Hi, You can do this but only with a PNG with a palette of 256 colors (maybe GIF as well) so doesn't get a lot of use, good enough for image buttons and the like, but might be ok for your image as it does not have that many colors. Otherwise radzmar's suggestion would be the better approach.
This is the link I was tring to find (in your previous thread) that tells how to do it using GIMP (a free image editor), http://smartforms.business.gov.au/DeveloperResources/Pages/HintsandTips.aspx ,  but the one I have uploaded here comes from photoshop (in photoshop it is called an indexed png).

p.s. I'm always on the lookout for a new beer to try if this one you would recommend? 3% and all.

  • White background of image created in Photoshop prints as grey through iPhoto postal ordering service.

I have created an image in Photoshop with a white background (I stuck with the default white background that the new image gave me). Over the top of this, I placed some images, saved it as a JPG, imported it into iPhoto and ordered it as a postcard-sized picture.
When I received it in the post, the whole image had printed with a grey overtone: the white background was in fact grey, and the pictures over the top were darker.
How can I resolve this to print my image with a truly white background through iPhoto's ordering service?
    Many thanks,
    Adam

If unchecking the scene-referred profiles box clears the display problem in Photoshop, you most likely have hit a known bug with defective monitor profiling packages building defective monitor profiles that affect Photoshop and After Effects — specifically, the defective profile is erroneously marked as "scene referred."
Version 4 ICC Profiles: If your are using v4 printing profiles, try Googling for more information...some symptoms of this bug are Photoshop prints a light cyan or blue in the page white areas. The Fix is to use Version 2 printer profiles.
there is another old known issue that has to do with trying to Hard Proof simulate press conditions (printing cyan in whites) but i am not sure what you are trying and i can't recall it right now
if those aren't it upload these screenshots of your workflow:
show full Photoshop window including zoom% and Docuent Profile in lower left corner

  • Image with transparent background shows up with a white background in ID

    Amateur needs help.
I have a copy of a logo with a transparent background.  I made the (white) background transparent in PS by creating a layer from background and then selecting the white color in the background and deleting it.  This has always worked in the past.  But when I place this image into ID, it shows up with a white background.  I have tried saving as a PSD, TIF, JPG, etc.  I cannot get it to work.
I normally research these things until I find an answer, but I am on a tight deadline.  Thanks!

I totally forgot to put that in my post.  Yes, I am putting logos with transparent backgrounds in front of colored rectangles.  That's how I noticed that this one logo is showing up with a white background.  The weird thing is that the other two logos are fine.  I did find a different version of this logo and this one works fine.  The one that works fine is a JPG and the one that shows up with a white background is a JPG.
