White Balance not Syncing in Lightroom 4.4

When copying or syncing WB settings from one image to the next, WB settings do not transfer. It did in 4.3.

I think that the behaviour DdeGannes describes is counter-intuitive. In fact this is the first time I've discovered that it's not a bug (although I long ago worked out how to overcome the problem). A quick Google confirms I am far from the only one.
I think the logical behaviour would be to sync the temperature values by default, with a possible user-override to apply 'as shot' in the dialogue shown, or in the Preferences file. But even if it is the default it would be good to offer users a way to specifiy that they wish to sync temperature values.
Part of the reason I shoot RAW is because I don't want to think about WB when shooting. I suspect many people adopt the same approach. Once you've hit Lightroom who cares what WB you shot it at (regardless of whether that was a deliberate choice or you just let the camera do it for you)? At that point if you're changing the temperature values you just want to optimise it so that it looks good on screen.

  • Why does my infrared custom white balance not load into Lightroom or CameraRaw?

The preview shows the correct WB, but the full render removes WB and any monochromatic color profiles.
Correct WB that I want. As seen from back of camera
Once the full preview loads. DO NOT WANT.
White balance is at 2000, the coolest it can go. I cannot recreate the custom WB that is in camera. I can make all of the B&W, but I want the custom WB so I can do a proper channel mix in PS.
    Thank you for any help.

You can use the DNG Profile Editor to add a negative bias to the WB settings in an existing camera profile and save it as a new profile (for IR) so you can adjust the effective WB lower than 2000K:
    http://stevencastle.wordpress.com/2010/07/17/processing-infrared-shots-in-adobe-camera-raw /
It still won’t pick up what the camera did, but you can adjust things lower, at least.

  • Lightroom D100 custom white balance not read

I have a D100 converted to IR use. I shoot with a custom white balance set off green grass. If I open an image in Raw Shooter or Capture I get the balance I expect. In Lightroom it opens as what looks like an unbalanced "pink" IR shot. Manually adjusting the white balance in LR I can't get my normal results - may be related to the fact that the red channel looks completely clipped at the high end which I don't see in RSP.
The D100 is meant to be supported for reading white balances.
    Any suggestions ?
    Andrew
ps: I thought I posted this a few days ago but after a couple of days with no response couldn't find it myself so if it is lurking somewhere, apologies !

    Suggestion for a workaround:
It seems that you want to work with a specific WB value you know.
Just create a preset with a fixed WB value which you apply by importing your IR shots. Then you don't even have to set it in the camera.
Besides this with my D70 I get the WB valance values from the camera without probs. I have however no experience with the D100

  • White Balance NOT Synchronizing in Bridge CS5

Instead of LR3 I use Bridge CS5 and the camera raw tool for my edits (it's all the same tools and runs faster.) ANyways, a strange problem i noticed recently after SEVERAL job edits.. I noticed the white balance was not the same on all my files. THIS IS A HUGE *** PROBLEM FOR ME! I tried everything but for some reason Bridge is not synchronizing the white balance, even if I just have white balance selected.. I need to have all my files the same.. I doesn NOT work in the camera raw module and it does NOT work when you right click, go to settings, copy settings and then paste settings..
    Any one else experienced this?
    I have ACR 6.1 installed

Is the WB As Shot, perhaps?  Synchronizing As Shot as your WB does exactly that, sets the WB to whatever the camera was set to, which if it is Auto WB in the camera, then the Temp/Tint values will be different for each photo.  If you want all the WB settings to be the same Temp/Tint values you must change the WB to Custom or use one of the built-in WB selections that has a constant set of Temp/Tint numbers.
What I usually do is modify the As Shot WB to something slightly different by changing the Tint value and then set the Tint value back to what it was if necessary, which will make it say Custom instead of As Shot, and then synchronize with this Custom value.

  • Creative Ultra for Notebook, white balance not working??

After years of use with my Creative Notebook Cam Pro I decided to upgrade and get the Ultra for Notebook because it's a CCD and works better in lower light conditions.
The drivers install fine however I cannot adjust the white balance nothing changes when I click apply. I have both 98SE and XP drivers installed and it appears that the bug is present in both sets of drivers.
This is a big disappointment because using this cam indoor with artificial lighting is next to being useless. Furthermore there's no saturation controls included in the drivers so I couldn't reduce the colour to b/w even if I wanted to.
As a product that's been on the market for nearly 2 years I'm surprised that no bug fixes have been issued for this problem I'm sure it's been mentioned before here?
Does anyone know if CLabs will fix the problem soon because as it stands this product isn't worthy of my time or money.

It should be directly underneath the image preview - press the T key if it's not there.

  • White Balance not working

I'm using Aperture 3.2.2 and when I use the white balance 'pipette' tool to select neutral grey area no changes are applied.  I think I know how this tool works as I have used it in the past.  The image I am trying to adjust I also know needs adjusting as it was shot using bounced flash off an cream surface.  Of course I can manually change the white balance using the temperature and tint sliders but have found better results in the past using the select neutral grey.
Anyone else having this issue and know of a fix?

Is it only on certain images that the white balance pipette tool does not work, or is it a general problem?
If it does not work on any images, delete the Aperture Preference files, as described in
         Aperture 3: Troubleshooting Basics: http://support.apple.com/kb/HT3805
for sometimes user interface elements do not work, when preference files are corrupted.
If only some images cannot be adjusted, then try the library "first aid": repairing permissions and library.

  • White Balance Not Showing As Color Temp

running ACR 6.1 on Windows XP boxes. I'm used to adjusting white balance by utilizing color temperature settings, but I don't seem to have that option in ACR 6.1--All I have is a sliding scale from -100 to +100 and I don't see any way to change this. Am I stuck with using ACR this way?

What type of image format is it?
The behavior you're describing is for a non-RAW image.  RAW images have absolute temperature.  JPGs and TIFs only have relative temperature because the white-balance has already been baked in so to speak without enough information to reverse-engineer the absolute color temperature.

  • White screen, not syncing with computer- tried holding buttons please help?

Please help. The screen of my daughters 4th gen ipod has frozen white. Have tried syncing the frozen ipod with computer but it is not recognised. I have treid holding home and sleep button at the same time but no change. Would be prepared to do a reset but the computer cannot recognise it. Have read various other responses to questions and am currently leaving the batteries to drain. None of this is helped by the fact that my daughter is sobbing about it in my ear! Ahhhhh

  • Why are my ratings stars not syncing with Lightroom mobile?

Some photos are rated in Lightroom desktop, but when I sync that collection with mobile, the ratings do not carry over. Any idea why?

Is there any movement on this? My main reason for the LR app is to do my rating (too unreliable) and tagging (not possible). Editing is secondary as I prefer doing that on my macbook, so the whole 'mobile' offering is currently not much use to me.
For the record, here are Lightroom ratings on the first four images of a collection:
here is a screenshot of the web/mobile version. I re-rated two images after the initial sync, and they show stars, but the others remain blank:

  • Does Lightroom read white balance settings in NEF files?

I have noticed an interesting difference in white balance color temp using Lightroom vs. Capture NX: In a Nikon D70 RAW shot (with camera white balance set at Direct Sunlight, no fine-tuning) Lightroom shows the "as shot" color temp to be 4850K. Capture NX reads the as shot color temp to be 5200. If Lightroom is reading the NEF w.b. settings, why isn't it reading the K temp as 5200?

    Fred Felder:
I still have not been able to find the original post (the links I tried to follow appear to be broken) by Thomas Knoll but I found another message which contains the relevant quote:

    which says...

    >This is the normal and expected result of Adobe Camera Raw and Nikon using different camera profiles and algorithms, and is not a bug.
    >Because of the different camera profiles being used, when matching white balance values Camera Raw can either match the white balance appearance (which colors are exactly neutral) or the white balance numbers (exact Kelvin/Tint numbers). In these cases, Camera Raw chose to match the appearance, not the numbers.
    >Even if the white balance matches, I don't expect an exact overall appearance match since Camera Raw and Nikon software use a different tone curve and rendering algorithms for non-neutral colors.

  • Lightroom photos not syncing to desktop

The small collection of photos I have managed to sync up to Creative Cloud will not sync to Lightroom desktop despite the switch being on in the top left window. Is this because I'm only on the trial version?

I removed the link from your post - please always share it privately.
What you should try to do is to
    1. Uncheck your Collection called "My Photo Stream" from syncing if its visible in LrD
    2. Shut down Lr Desktop
    3. Then delete the Sync.lrdata file:
    Win: C:\Users\<user>\AppData\Local\Adobe\Lightroom\Caches\Sync Data\Sync.lrdata
    Mac: /Users/<user>/Library/Caches/Adobe/Lightroom/Sync Data/Sync.lrdata
    4. Restart Lr Desktop and start to sync

  • Adobe Bridge - White balance metadata

When I browse raw files from my Canon EOS Rebel XT/350D in Adobe Bridge I always look at the Metadata tab to check for the f-stop value, speed, white balance settings, etc. of the currently-selected raw image file.
I noticed that the pictures shot in Automatic White Balance appear on the upper-left portion of the Metadata tab as an icon indicating AWB. However, whenever I take pictures with manually-set white balances, such as shade, day light, tungsten, etc., the metadata tab no longer indicates the white balance I chose, instead, it either shows an icon of a camera or two dashes, as in --.
Is there any way I can set Adobe Bridge to show the appropriate White Balance icon for pictures I take with manually-set white balances?

    Hi Curt,
Thanks for your reply. Yes, White Balance is checked in preferences/metadata. All of the Exposure metadata entries are also checked.
I forgot to mention that my version of Camera Raw is 4.5 (the latest).
You know, although White Balance is checked, I cannot find a White Balance text entry on any of the metadata lists (File properties, IPTC core, Camera Data (EXIF), etc.). The only place where I can see the White Balance setting in on the upper left corner of the Metadata tab, under the f-stop value.
Here is a personal question for you: When you browse your pictures in Adobe Bridge and you select one that was taken with a specific White Balance (not Auto), does your Adobe Bridge display an icon for that particular White Balance setting? I just want to eliminate the possibility that this happening only in my computer.
Thanks a lot for your time and attention.

  • White Balance Selector Target Calibration

I utilize a target calibration system with a panel that is 18% grey.  With Lightroom 2 I would simply use the white balance selector and click on the grey and have perfect white balance.  However with Lightroom 3 this no longer works consistently.  In fact sometimes the White balance set to off the chart numbers like 12,000.  Any ideas or thoughts?!
      Thanks,
       David

Could you post a screenshot of how it looks like.
I guess you could be talking about the White Balance Loupe.
You can disable that by unticking "Show Loupe" when you have the White Balance Selector active. (But I wouldn't call the Loupe a "weird little mess of different coloured dots", more like a gride. And it doesn't obscure the pipette either).

  • LR Mobile does not sync star rating on initial sync

    Dear All!
    This is my usual workflow.
    1) I import photos on my desktop (Macintosh)
    2) I make a pre-selection of photos and start them with 2 stars.
    3) I filter all 2-star photos and add them to a collection
    4) I sync the new collection to my ipad (via the cloud).
    Issue:
When the photos "arrive" on the ipad they all have a rating of 0-stars.
to fix this I have to change the rating in Lightroom on my desktop (after they have initially synced) to the iPad.
This will sync all photos again and correct the star-ratings.
Is this a known issue and is Adobe working on this already?
    Thanks
    Albert

Please have a look at this thread (also for workarounds)...Re: Why are my ratings stars not syncing with Lightroom mobile?
Here is the note from one of our devs.
Unfortunately, my previous post was a bit optimistic.  Adding images in batches less than 100 will only work in certain narrow situations.  In many of the common scenarios that you're encountering based on your catalogs it will not.
I have fixed this issue in our code, but will continue to look for possible workarounds that will work on 5.5.

  • White Balance Options

    Hi,
Under Develop, when I select White Balance, all I receive in the drop down menu are "auto", "custom", and "as shot".
I should be given the options of "Tungsten", "shade", "daylight", etc.
How can I get the full selection of White Balances?
I have Lightroom 2 and have a PC.
    Thank you.

    Barb,
You are editing a jpeg or tiff, correct?
The other options are available only for raw files.
