White balance option for stl 001

Hi Guys
My z10 - stl 001 missing White balance option. This option to fix white color on screen of Z10
How to fix this problem
OS 10.3 have this option for stl 001 ?
Thanks

Nope. Can't do that.
The best you can do is use Quick Develop to do a relative adjustment on a
selection of files.

  • LR1.0 - White Balance Options

    Loaded Version 1.0.
The only White Balance options that are available are: As Shot, Auto, and Custom.
Thought it might have been a conversion problem, installed clean with no existing beta db and same issue.

I shoot mainly in jpg with a custom WB of 5300k. Being able to have a non-destructive editor for jpg's is why I beta tested LR. In every release, I was able to adjust WB temp in degrees to reflect my prefered 5300k.
If there are no obsolutes when dealing with jpg's, why was custom WB with degree's an option in the beta's?
I have yet to get the same results from LR v1.0 (trial) as I was getting from B41.
I'm really disappointed that Adobe removed this function in the final version. I was getting great results.

  • How do I get white balance settings for my Olympus cameras in Aperture?

I have an E-500 and E-510. I was able to figure out from previous posts how to get the white balance listing in the metadata. The information it provides is a 0 or a 1. My sense is that the 0 could represent the auto white balance setting and the 1 any other setting. I have 7 possible settings for white balance on my camera. Is it possible to get specific white balance settings listed in the metadata for my cameras. Thank you for any help.

I can tell you how to display it; I haven't set out to find out what the numbers mean, although that would be pretty easy to do.
Select the Metadata Tab. At the pop-up in the top left select "List-Expanded." Then select from the Gear pop-up in the upper right "Edit List-Expanded." A whole set of options will appear, including White Balance. Check the box and it will be added to the List-Expanded.

  • White Balance Options

    Hi,
Under Develop, when I select White Balance, all I receive in the drop down menu are "auto", "custom", and "as shot".
I should be given the options of "Tungsten", "shade", "daylight", etc.
How can I get the full selection of White Balances?
I have Lightroom 2 and have a PC.
    Thank you.
    Barb

    Barb,
You are editing a jpeg or tiff, correct?
The other options are available only for raw files.

  • Missing White Balance Options

I bought my lightroom recently brand new on ebay, when I got it in the mail, I realized it was a education version. I was comparing it to the beta version I had before and realized that in this one I can not change the white balance to the options like "sunny", "cloudy", etc.. all i have is as shot, auto and custom, i dont get it. Did this happen cause i ended up getting a education version?? I feel like I got screwed. If I uninstall and reinstall do you think that may help?
    Katrina

Those options probably shouldn't be there in QD for JPEGs since JPEGs don't have an embedded absolute white balance reference but are rather already processed. Thus there's no real way to know where you are or how to get to "daylight" (or any other choice) from wherever that is. The thinking is that QD is a relative-tool, and thus those options at least make a little sense in that light.

  • White balance values for NEF file

    Hello
I'm using Ligthroom 1.2 with nikon raw files (NEF) taken with D80 camera (firmware 1.01).
The white balance is most of the time set to 5300K on my camera. But in LR, it always shows 4950K, with tint set to -1.
I know there is some compatibility problems between LR and NEF files, but does anyone know if there is a solution (except of course applying systematically the right temperature in LR during import.)?
    Thanks
    Erwann

I believe the issue is actually that Nikon encrypts the white balance in NEF files of recent cameras. If you
google for it you'll find lots of links to all the problems this caused. Adobe and other RAW software developers have had to reengineer the encryption of this value in order to get a reasonable value and in order to not break the DMCA (draconian US anti-piracy law). Apparently, for some cameras the algorithm is not so good. The alternative for Adobe would have been to use Nikon's RAW rendering library, which for obvious reasons will never happen. The only software I am aware of that correctly reads NEF white balance for cameras after the D2X without using Nikon's libraries is dcraw/ufraw, but they can get away with cracking the encryption. This really is one of the dumber things Nikon ever did.

  • Shifting the white-balance temperature for a whole collection of photos

    Hi All,
I've just stumbled upon this problem and can't find a solution although I'm sure the Lightroom is capable of solving it. Here it is:
I've retouched a whole bunch of photos from a session outside. The retouching meant (among other things) setting the WB selectively for each photo (or group by group), since the sun was setting during the shoot. Everything looks swell on my monitor, however I found out that on other screens the photos are consequently cooler. Yeah, I know I have an issue with monitor calibration and I intend solve it, but before that I'd like to save my work without adjusting the WB again one by one to each photo. So the question is: is it possible to shift the WB temperature for the entire set of photos by a constant value (some 200 K)? This would help enormously. Any suggestions? Appreciate any help. I'm on LR 3.x
    Cheers
    Luke

You can use the Quick Develop tools in Library - the same technique as this:
    http://forums.adobe.com/thread/1137465?tstart=60
With Grid view, changes made in the right side panel are applied to all highlighted thumbnails automatically as incremental changes on top of - not replacing - their current settings.
With Loupe view, even if multiple images appear highlighted in the Filmstrip, changes are applied just to the single selected image you are viewing - unless you have clicked a toggle-switch at lower-right of screen, to switch LR into "Auto Sync" mode.

  • Why is there no white balance info in 3.3.1?

I want to transfer my iPhoto library over to Aperture, but am reluctant to do so until I have familiarised myself with the new program. (I have over 23,000 photos in iPhoto!)
As a start, I have imported a few of my recent photos from iPhoto so that I can find my way around Aperture. One thing puzzles me. I can see the white balance information for each photo in iPhoto but the white balance field is greyed out in the Aperture metadata, and there is no 'cloud' or 'sun' picture at the top right of the Info panel, even though the white balance field is ticked in the Metadata Fields panels for Exif Info and Camera Info. I really need to know which camera setting I used for each photo to help me learn how to take better photos, but as far as I can see the information is not available to me anywhere in Aperture.
I have performed Aperture Library First Aid (repaired permissions and database, and rebuilt database) but the problem still exists. I can't find anything anywhere on the internet or in Apple Support that mentions this problem. Does anyone have any ideas for me please?

Sorry, I see you are referring to the Info and not the Adjustment.
Since I am seeing both in each program, I am not sure which may be the culprit.
You could try launching Aperture while depressing the 'Option' key and creating a new test library (Create New.. button). Then export some original files from iPhoto to say the desktop > import into the Aperture test library to see if the information shows up.
If you now see the info, then there may be something going on with iPhoto that is preventing the transfer. If this is the case, you might try the iPhoto discussions since the usual helpers would know more than I about fixing a potential iPhoto library issue.
Otherwise, wait for someone more knowledgable than I to help here as I am not sure what would cause that if iPhoto isn't (and since you have already used the Aperture First Aid).

  • Lightroom 2 - Auto white balance - crash

I'm having intermittent problems while applying auto white balance on some CR2 files in Lightroom 2 running on OS X 10.5.4. When choosing Auto from the list of white balance options, LR waits for a second or two, doesn't update the history panel and the spinning beachball appears. CPU rises to about 100% and there's no other way than to force quit.
So far it happens with, say, one in 50 images (I've been working on approximately 100 images and with 2 this happened).
When I restart I can easily recreate the problem by going through the same routine.
The workaround is working on another image and then going back to the problematic one; then I can apply AWB without any problems.
I can save a (lengthy) hang reporter log file.

Thought I was doing pretty good with LR2, but unfortunately this problem has showed up on my Mac OS X 10.5.4 system. The stalls (i.e., beachball) are when developing CR2 images from a Canon 5D. I experience many occurrences of the problem when going through this folder of RAWs, perhaps 20-30% of the images. Today I thought I had found one that always fails, but turns out not to be the case, although it causes a failure over half the time it is accessed. Same symptoms as described in the above posts: Convert an image's white balance to auto, in either quick-develop or develop. Then when you access the image you get the spinning beachball forever, and have to force-quit. I've also stalled LR with this sequence: in QD, convert WB to auto, switch to develop module, undo the WB change in history by clicking the prior step... LR stalls. Basically I've seen all the same steps as described here, and more.
Also, just for fun I tried everyone's favorite troubleshooting step, i.e., trashing preferences. It made absolutely no difference. The first time I simply clicked on the troublesome image, LR got stuck.
Jao... interestingly, I never saw this problem in the beta in spite of developing many, many images in the beta. If it was known and not fixed, that's quite a concern.

  • Z1 White Balance Displa Setting

May I ask how to see the white balance setting into the display setting for Xperia Z1? Bec. I have Xperia Z also and the white balance setting is already seen but into my Z1 I can't see the white balance setting to adjust the screen display hope to answer back in able to fix my Xperia Z1 yellow hue tint problem using the "White Balance" in display setting. Thank you

No White Balance option in Z1. Can;t say what made them remove this.
Sony just removed the "optimized backlight option" from this new 14.1.G.2.257 firmware.
YELLOW HUE tint is still there. Display is even more DIM in this new update.
In Short Another update full of bugs have been rolled by Sony.
NFC icon doesn't appear after activating it.
Automatic switch off issue still there.
P.S. Don't ask to update our Z1 again by SUS or PCC, whenever use reports we get only this answer. Why don't Sony make a stable firmware. It has been more then a month and still Z1 has not got a stabel firmware.
    Don't forget to give Kudos.

  • White Balance Adjustment question

I have about 800 images from a wedding, and am now ready to go thru them and adjust the white balance.
    However, am I missing something?
I click on the white balance option, then the dropper, then click on the image to adjust the white balance ...
But, when I go to the next image, I have to THEN click on white balance AGAIN then the dropper, then the image etc etc etc???!!!
Can I just click on the dropper once, then scroll thru the images to adjust without having to ACTIVATE the white balance option again and again and again?
When there are 800 images, adding in those extra two steps is slowing me down big time.
    Does this make sense?
    Much appreciated!

So, I wanted to adjust each image individually but
without always having to click on White Balance
Adjustment each and every time. I really just want
to click thru and eye dropper the images.
Is this possible, or do I have to always go to the
adjustment pane and let the thing know I want white
balance adjustment after each image ...
I'm afraid the interface lets you down here. What's unfortunate is that there is no keyboard shortcut for the WB tool. There is for Edge Sharpen, for instance (ctrl-S) -- which means that for each image you can leave the HUD open and very quickly bring in the tool so its standard preset will be applied. It would be awfully nice to have that fast, mouseless capability with other tools.
(Query: since you can't get rid of default tools, which is why they're grayed out in the "+" menu on the HUD, why do they have keyboard shortcuts?? Pressing the shortcut doesn't toggle the tool off-and-on, or anything. Why do Color and Highlights & Shadows have ctrl-key shortcuts, and Crop and Straighten have non-ctrl-key shortcuts? Mysteries, mysteries.)
It might be most efficient to figure out what most images need, lift and stamp that setting, then go back and nudge or cancel the WB correction on the others. Depending on the numbers and proportion, of course.

  • JPEG and White Balance

When Aperture imports JPEGs it offers the same white balance options as it does for RAW files.
My understandiing from using Lightroom which does not use temperature in it's white balance Develop module for JPEGs, is that there is no data associated with a JPEG that tells the program where to start with white balance.
I'm curious as to what assumptions Aperture makes with regard to white balance when importing JPEGs and what goes on in the background as you change the temperature with a JPEG.
    Thank you.

Aperture assigns a temperature of 5000k to all jpg and tif files.
I don't know what goes on in the background but the temperature changes are useful, if not correct.
    Cheers,
    Terry

  • WB Options for JPEGs- 1.1

Does the 1.1 upgrade offer all the WB options (Daylight, Cloudy, Shade, etc.) for JPEGs or is it just limited to As Shot, Auto, and Custom?
I recently upgraded and I seem to recall in version 1.0 the full selection of white balance options were available for JPEGs (As Shot, Auto, Daylight, Cloudy, Shade, Tungsten, Fluorescent, Flash, Custom). My new version of 1.1 is only offering the limited options.
    Please advise. Thanks.

Assuming the WB description saved in a JPEG's metadata can be correlated with the WB description in the same camera's RAW files, the LR/ACR team should be able to determine the camera's intended color temperature for an image. That's only part of the issue, though. With a RAW image, the LR/ACR team can develop algorithms for processing the pixel data to a given color temperature. When presented with a JPEG, however, they lack the pixel data. The challenge is sort of like trying to edit a flattened file versus a file that contains the original image data, layers, adjustments, etc. The RAW color temperature algorithms depend on the existence of, well, "raw" pixel data. After that pixel data is flattened in the camera into a JPEG with the "shade" tag, there is no way to recreate it.

  • Cross Hairs Vanish in White Balance Loupe

If I click on the eyedropper under the White Balance option, the loupe appears on the screen with the white cross hairs in the center (along with RGB values). If I move to an area that forces the loupe to rotate (ie upper right corner of the image), the cross hairs and RGB values vanish, making it impossible to accurately select a neutral gray.

Yes, its a better loupe, but it has the same problem as the other one.
Sometimes it also loses the RGB information, although the conditions that make it happen are unclear. When it happens it also affects the RGB info below the histogram in the adjustment pane. Leaving the loupe does not bring it back. The loupe can cause the problem, but also zooming in.
Some images seem more prone to lose it than others. These images also have a problem with the accuracy of the loupe/pointer. The color information that is returned is for pixels at an offset from the pointer. If it gets too irritating I will crop the image by 1 pixel on all sides, which often helps.
I found that switching the viewer to another image and back again will restore the RGB info for a while.

  • How-To: White-balance your image properly  Attn: Aperture Team @ Apple

Since Aperture's white balance eye-dropper is more-or-less useless I have taken it upon myself to discover a means to accurately white-balance an image using Aperture.
    My method is as follows:
    1. Open my desired image in Aperture and hit Z to view at 100%
    2. Open up /Applications/Utilities/DigitalColor Meter
    3. In DigitalColor Meter, go into preferences and select the following options:
    Magnification Factor: 8x
    Refresh behavior: Refresh continuously
[X] Float window above other apps
    4. Set DigitalColor Meter's "Aperture Size" to the third or 4th notch to get a fairly large radius
    5. Move the cursor over the image until DigitalColor Meter's "Aperture" box is over a portion of the image that you want neutral and hit Command(Apple)-L
to lock it at that position
    6. Adjust the White Balance controls in Aperture until DigitalColor Meter reads equal (or approximately equal) R G B values
You now have an image that's white balanced accurately for the area you selected. If it is not satisfactory, click on DigitalColor Meter and hit Command(Apple)-L to unlock and repeat the 5th and 6th steps above with a new area.
Notice to Apple's Aperture Team: This is how white balance should work in Aperture. The white balance eye-dropper currently produces pretty random results. When working on this tool for a future update, look at allowing the user to set a radius for sampling the image and build the DigitalColor Meter into the application. This would bring Aperture closer to being a real professional tool.
    Dual G5 2.5GHz, 4GB RAM, GeForce 6800 Ultra DDL   Mac OS X (10.4.3)

    Test Results:
    Aperture 1.1:
    Image Temperature: 3594
    Tint: -17
When using the white balance tool on a white section of a photo, the RGB values changed from R 255 G 234 B 192 to R 255 G 230 B 197 and the Temperature changed to 3946 and Tint to 12.
    The photo still remained unacceptable.
When usint the white balance tool on a grey section of the same photo, the RGB values cahnge from R 211 G 178 B 126 to R 208 G 180 B 162 and the Temperatue changed to 3154 and Tint to 2.
The photo still remained unacceptable but was notably improved.
Using Capture One Pro, the results were as follows:
    Temperatue: 3850
    Tint: -10
When using the white balance tool on a white section of the same photo, the RGB values changed from R 255 G 241 B 200 to R 244 G 244 B 244 and the Temperature changed to 2500 and Tint to -16.
Photo was very acceptable with no perceivable colour cast.
When using the white balance tool on a grey section of the same photo, the RGB values changed from R 190 G 153 B 108 to R 153 G 153 B 153 and Temperature to 2550 and Tint to -2.
Photo was very acceptable with no perceivable colour cast.
From this quick test on a photo, I can draw the following conclusions:
    1. Aperture interprets temperature and tint data differently from Capture One Pro, although this likely due to the use of a camera profile within Capture One Pro;
    2. Using the white balance tool in Aperture on a "white" section does not neutralize the RGB values;
    3. Using the white balance tool in Aperture on a "white" section does not correctly remove a colour cast within a photograph;
    4. Using the white balance tool in Aperture on a "grey" section does not neutralize the RGB values; and
    5. Using the white balance tool in Aperture on a "grey" section does not correctly remove a colour cast within a photograph, although it does work better.
