White band on W500 screen

Hello there,
Yesterday a vertical white band popped up on my W500 ( from 2009) laptop screen. I tried to update the BIOS utility with no luck. Unfortunately the system is off guarantee.
Anyone might know what might be the cause?

Loose ribbon cable? Or minor damage.
You could open it up if it isn't in warranty and have a look yourself.

IMac Display -- White band across screen

I recently noticed a white band across the top half of my screen. The line is about 3-5 tall and runs the entire width of the screen. This is incredibly annoying. The so-called Genius at the Apple store said I would have to pay about $800 to replace the display, which is ridiculous. It is time that Apple match product quality with design quality or fix these problems.

I have the same issue.. although it isn't terribly noticeable yet... It has crept up using this computer for a month. The computer has only been in use for 1-1/2 months. I have multiple band running width wise down the entire screen.

Blank white band across bottom of screen

Sometimes when I turn on my new MacBook there is a thick (more than 1" wide) blank, white band across the bottom of the screen, and the rest of the screen display is squeezed (elongated) into the remaining space. If I then put the MacBook to sleep and wake it up, the screen returns to normal.
Any idea what is going on? And what I should do?
It occurs to me that my MacBook might be "confused" because I sometimes use it with an external monitor and sometimes I don't..... Coudl that be the explanation?

I am still having this problem. It especially occurs when I am not connected to my external monitor and running off the battery. Has nobody else had this problem? Does anybody know what the problem is?

White band when capturing video

When capturing video I get a periodic white band covering 75% of captured video using all Sonic MyDVD, Windows Movie Maker, and ShowBiz software. I have a NVidia FX 5600 card usingWin XP home. The band lasts for 5 to 15 seconds, but is not at a regular rate and sometimes it doesnt happen at all when recording 30-60 minutes of video. Am downloading updated drivers right now but asking for further ideas.

I have the exact same problem as you do with my Fx5600-vtr-128 capture card..
"jorge' does also have the same problem..Looks like it's systemic with the Nvidia card or drivers not being able to work with the WDM driver..I'll try to post a screen shot but jorge already has and I'll bet if you check his post you will find your exact bar or srtip...

Why is there a white band on the lower left of my tv?

I got an appleTV2, hooked it up, and upon booting it up initially there was a white band on the lower left of the screen. Can any one advise a course of action?

White 'Bands' on my Apple 30" Cinema display

The last couple of days, i've returned home, turned on my monitor and ive had a really bright screen with think white bands, of different shades on my screen.
The monitor would have been switched off, but still plugged into my pc (running) and still be plugged into the mains.
The display is connected to a windows pc using an 8800 card.
I've tried using both dvi outputs to another screen and they both work fine, but both show a fault with the cinema display.
I've also plugged the cinema display into another pc with dvi input, and the display is still faulty.
i've attacthed some photos if anyone has any ideas?

Well, great.
The repair centre can't replicate the problem so far, and they won't take the photos as evidence. So it looks like i'll be getting it back not-fixed.
They did suggest that it could be an issue that if i've plugged in anything into the usb sockets, that the problem could lie there, as they're not meant for PC's only Mac's. Is that true?

Imac late 2006 has two big white bars on the screen.

I have a late 2006 intel imac and it also has the apparently extremely common vertical white bars on the screen.
They have the same size, about a twelveth of the whole screen, and are spaced by a well functioning bar of exactly the same size. So i thought this could be a problem with the connectors, and i wondered, is there any connector inside the imac that has 12 pins?
P.S.: I'm trying to fix this myself because i took it to an apple authorized repair center (which is the closest we have in Portugal to a real Apple repair center), and they said it would be 550€, a ridiculous amount of money, since the screen costs something like 150€, and they ended up charging me 50€ just for letting it stay the night since they didn't even open it.
I have been an extremely loyal customer and am extremely disappointed in Apple for not replacing this screens for free, since it's clearly a manufacturing problem.

You are just better off saving up your money to buy a new iMac.

I have a ipad1 and turned it on as normal and i got itunes logo and white plug cable on screen and when i tried to update that button is not available to use only restore button so i tried restore and it keeps telling me the i pad could not be restored

Try a different usb cable, try a different usb port, disable any security or anti virus software. Try a different computer.

When you turn the ipod on, there is a noticeable white spot on the screen/display. Once all the apps come on you can't see it, but when it starts up you can.

From you descriptionis is hard to tell if it a atain on the outside of the screen or just what. Have you tried cleaning the screeen as said in the users guide:

By far the most common problem hardware-wise seems to be scuffs on the aluminium. Yours is the first report of a faulty screen I've seen.
If you use the same Apple ID on both devices it'll sync whatever you want it to - music/apps/photos/messages/etc.
I've just switched from a Galaxy S3 to iPhone 5 (having already owned an iPad for a while) so I'm in a similar position!

Horrible Blue Bands appear on screen after Mavericks update

Hi there,
I recently upgraded to Mavericks and was greeted with a horrible strip of vertical blue bands across the screen with shimmerings in places that are grey.
When I attempt using Photoshop, all my gradients were appearing as low res bands.
My videos are worse hit as they all appear in low res.
Please, is anyone out there with a solution for me? I am a Graphic Designer and the concept of guessing colors right now is not healthy. Help me.

MIght be a good time to run the Apple Hardware Test

Has anyone else has seen this problem with their iPod touch 5th Generation with iOS 7.0.4. My screen started making flashing white lines across the screen, then went dim, then pixeled with purples

The ipod will show flashing white lines across the screen, going down, it then does somthing where the screen will dim down but its not like when the backlight goes on and its about to lock. It dims the background of your ipod and the icons and letters kind of all look defined. Then the ipod gets all pixelized and it has big boxes on pixels and its all differnt colors like purples and greens, red, etc. then it turns right off and restarts itself less than 5 seconds later. These things happen really fast but when it does it's really weird. It first happened 3 times in a row, Its still continuing to happen but i can manually turn off my ipod by holding the lock button down and not even 30 seconds later it's like its possessed and it turns on by itself. I talked to somone on appel and they told me to back it up and restore it. I restored it and as soon as the process ended and tuirned on like a brand new ipod and like clockwork the glitch happened instantly. It did it a couple of times throughout the night and i kept having to watch it so i can keep turning it off manually because it continues to turn on by itself. I talked to 3 different people on Apple Support and they couldnt even find an answer for me. It's so weird.

Try:
- iOS: Not responding or does not turn on
- Also try DFU mode after try recovery mode
How to put iPod touch / iPhone into DFU mode « Karthik's scribblings
- If not successful and you can't fully turn the iOS device fully off, let the battery fully drain. After charging for an least an hour try the above again.
- Try another cable
- Try on another computer
- If still not successful that usually indicates a hardware problem and an appointment at the Genius Bar of an Apple store is in order.

If you restored to factory settings/new iPod via iTunes (Not via Settings>General>Reset>Erase all Content and Setting) and still have the problem that indicates a hardware problem.

In the printer driver (accessed through the Page Setup button) set the Advanced tab to borderless. Then in the right hand panel under Layout set all the margins to zero.

Bright white spots on the screen?

Hey guys, my iPhone has developed these two bright white spots on the screen. I don't think it's a hardware problem because they are not there for every application. But I have tried restarting it, completely resetting it, etc with no success. The problem is I bought in July 2007 so my warranty is up. Am I screwed?
