White bar around menu buttons?

HI, I recently started building my site with abe muse.
Im enjoying it, just frustrated that the program doesnt always do what I want.
I created a menu bar on my master page, and now when I try to add a slideshow in the header, their seems to appear a white box around the menu bar??
I dont understand why this happens any suggestions what it could be?
Hope to hear from someone,
Tanya

Thank you for the help,
After houuuuurs of struggling I saw it was a rectangle shape I drew on my
master page! Hehe
Could you maybe assist me with a other problem.
Im a photographer, and want to view my images in a blog type manner.
Therefore not in a typical lightvox way, but as attached example.
I don¹t know what would be the best option. To create shapes with rectangle
tool and fill with image? And if so, it takes so long to process, what file
type should the images be for best quality?
I do hope you can assist,
Kind regards,
Tanya

• After downloading firefox to a new computer and using sync I no longer have any navigation bar or menu button.

This is on a windows computer at work. It actually happened on 2 new computers. Before the sync, both the navigation bar and menu button were there. After the sync - Gone! I have tried uninstalling firefox and then reinstalling, but when I reinstall, the problem is already there, and the bookmarks from the sync reappear automatically on the reinstalled version. Is there any way to uninstall the sync?

Currently UI customizations do not sync. However you can add this about:config.
services.sync.prefs.sync.browser.uiCustomization.state = true

• White fringe around my buttons

Hi, I'm using the trial version of Captivate 5 for Mac. I have 8GB RAM, OS 10.6.7, and pretty new Macbook. I'm trying to use the "next_black" series of three buttons (up, down, over). I'm using this so that I can pause the presentation after each slide and let the user click to continue.
Anyway, I have a green background behind the button, and it is showing a white fringe around the edges. I tried checking "Make Button Transparent" in the Properties > General tab, but that has no effect. I also edited the buttons in Photoshop and changed the background around the buttons from transparent to the green of my slides. Even after saving these in the gallery and selecting them under Properties > General > Browse, I STILL get the white fringing. I have tried quitting and restarting Captivate, but get the same thing.
So it appears that Captivate is still using the original image file with the transparent background. This is strange and seems like a bug to me. I am following the naming conventions for the buttons, by the way.
Here is a screenshot from the published presentation. There is no fringe apparent when working in Captivate, only the published version.
I like the program, but it seems kind of buggy in general. It didn't offer the project I'm working on as a "Recent Item" in the startup screen until I had opened it about 10 times in a row! And I usually have to click the name of the project two or three times before it will open. Still, I was able to produce a nice project, if I can just figure out the button deal.
Another thing--the forum search function isn't working. No results for "button" or "buttons" in "search this forum."
Thanks everybody!

Okay, quick follow-up question. Only the right side of the "Next" buttons show the mouseover effect. So if I mouseover the "Next" text part of the button, nothing happens. Mouseover the arrow and you get the effect. Any idea what is going on there?
Ooo, interesting follow-up. The mouseover effect works fine in Safari  and Chrome, just not in FireFox 4 (all on the Mac). Also mouseover is  confirmed working with FireFox 4 for PC. I'm going to chalk this up to a bug in FF4 for Mac.

• Spry Menu Widget puts white borders around menu items in IE7

I have adjusted the Spry Menu css field to work with images
rather than block style menu items to achieve an aesthetically more
pleasing result. It all works fin in
Firefox...
When I have a look at the very same page in IE7, I can see
borders or margins drawn around all menu items.
Like
so...
Interestingly, when I remove the background image, I still
bet right hand side border/margin on the menu bar, but none for the
submenu items.
Like
so...
I thought first of an IE7 vs. Firefox incompatibility issue,
but then removed the SpryMenu.js from the file and got
this
result in IE7...
Of course the menu does not work anymore, but the rendering
is correct in IE7 and FireFox.
Any idea or suggestion, whether I am looking at a
compatibility issue or a bug in SpryMenu.js? More important, any
suggestions to make the page behave in IE7 just as in Firefox? Any
suggestion is welcome.
Cheers

css code

It appears to be a bug in the SpryMenuBar.js v0.12 after all.
I found an acceptable solution by commenting out line 163
changing
this.addClassName(items
, this.isieClass);
to
// this.addClassName(items, this.isieClass);
Now the menu is rendered correctly without the white
borders/margins.
I guess it is not always IE's fault ;-)
Something for the Adobe crew to pick up for their next

• Why is a white bar displayed over the top of my address and menu bar, so i cant do anything with Firefox?

In Firefox, when I open a browser window, there is a white bar covering the menu and address bar, and I cant click anything, If i click the bar to try and move the window, I click through to windows behind the Mozilla window.
This has persisted through a re-install of Firefox. So I un-installed the browser, and reinstalled the latest version from the web site.

• White lines around PNGs when exported to PDF

I am having the problem that imported images frequently have white bars around the outside of the image when the document is exported as a PDF. Looking at the two images currently affected I notice they are both PNG images. I fixed the image that was just rectangular in shape by just turning it into a JPEG as I did not require the use of transparency, but the second object is a different matter and I require the use of PNGs transparency. These lines are not present when in indesign normally.
The line is only noticable in one spot where a black rectangle meets the black background (only the top of the rectangle is visible against the black as one side is covered and the other side is out of the crop area) so I am not certain if this is the only spot it is occuring.
The line is not even a straight white line!
I have had this problem before with lines appearing around objects which should not be there, as well as objects not appearing as they do in inDesign, any advice for fixing this?

Ok guys I don't know what was wrong with my old TIFF image, but I swapped it out for a TIFF image which had a gradient fading from black to transparent as opposed to a straight black box and now the line is not there *shrug* it seems quite weird to me since I made sure the image was correct by cutting off the top segmant of the image where the trouble was.... but I dunno....
The exact same image in illustrator or photoshop showed up fine.. so I cannot understand what the problem was
EDIT: GAK!! its back on a new image I just put into the document same problem except it is on all sides of the black rectangle... *shakes fist* bah I will put another bloody gradient around the stupid thing....which by the way worked and the gradient was placed on the bottom layer so I dont see how it could be the image? I think this is proving that the problem is with acrobat (or saving from indesign) not the image...
NOTE: I would rather not post the files for various reasons

• My new Menu Button that came with the latest update is now missing.

I removed the button because it was bothering me thinking there would be no repercussions but now I can't find it because it contained the customization menus. I have searched through the other menu options but the only route to the customization is now hidden in the now missing button.

Are you using the Classic Theme Restorer extension?
*You can check out the settings of the CTR extension via its Options/Preferences button on the "Firefox/Tools > Add-ons > Extensions" page.
*You can find extra toolbar buttons and more toolbar settings in Customize (3-bar Firefox menu button > Customize)

In current Firefox releases (29 and later), that have have the Australis user interface, the orange Firefox menu button has been replaced by the three-bar Firefox Menu button at the far right end of the Navigation Toolbar and this button is always visible, whether you have the menu bar visible or hidden<br>A consequence of this location is that you no longer can hide the Navigation Toolbar
*There is a star like button next to the search bar on the Navigation Toolbar to bookmark the current web page and a "Show your bookmarks" button next to it to open the Bookmarks in a drop down menu.<br>You can find "Show All Bookmarks" to open the Bookmarks Manager (Library) at the bottom of this drop-down list
*If you bookmark a page then "Bookmark This Page" in the Bookmarks menu changes to "Edit This Bookmark"
*You can make the the title bar visible via the "Title Bar" button at the bottom left in the Customize palette window
It is still possible to have the menu bar visible via the right-click context menu of a toolbar to have menus like the File menu with Print (Ctrl+P) and Print Preview and the Bookmarks menu available.

• Menu buttons briefly turn white when hovering

When I hover over a menu button it turns white in IE and transparent in FF for about 2 seconds then displays the correct hover image. This happens the first time you hover, then it behaves normally after that.

Putting your page through the html validator bought up a few errors
http://validator.w3.org/check?verbose=1&uri=http%3A%2F%2Fwww.preferreddigitalprints.com%2F
The most important error is that the page isn't using a doctype.  This could account for the bugginess of the page.  A page without a doctype will render CSS in quirks mode and not display the page as intended in some browsers.
Please insert a doctype at the top of the document, then put the page through the validator again to see what errors remain, fix those, and hopefully the page will load OK.  I didn't look at the navbar images, but make sure that they are optimized for the web, because that can also cause a slow down on loading them.
I recommend using the transitional doctype.

• After downloading the app for my Note 10.1-2014, synced my Desktop bookmarks, I cannot see the 3-bar menu and when I do use my menu button it does not work.

I have searched all the ways I know about this. I have FF V28 on my PC.
I downloaded FF v 28.0.1 and I cannot get the 3 bar / dot menu on my Note 10.1-2014 tablet.
All your support notes describe the possibility of using my Home button, main button and even the back button.
Still no luck and really want to use it on my tablet.

Hi rketek1, you may be viewing information about something other than the current release of Firefox for Android.
When using the Knowledge Base here, if the article title doesn't mention Android, check the "Editing Tools" section in the left sidebar to make sure it specified Firefox for Android and not one of the desktop versions.
For what it's worth, I have attached screen shots of the "3-dot" menu from a Nexus 5. "Back" is a <s>physical</s> button on the device, so it doesn't appear on the screen within Firefox.

• DON'T HAVE A HELP TAB IN MY MENU BUTTON. CANT EVEN COPY A URL IN MY ADDRESS BAR OR REFRESH IT ?

how on earth can you help people when all you do is direct them to another page to click on something that doesn't help. this new version is awful . i cannot even put a url address in my address bar, nor can i refresh the address bar as it won't highlight at all. i keep going to all sorts of help pages and they are no help at all. i have used firefox for years and never had so much trouble with anything. the worse thing is your support and not being able to talk to any about anything. as it is i have to go all over just to find maybe an answer to this.i am using a background theme that i used before the new updated version and had no problems with it. if your themes are not compatible then why have them ??? the address bar problem is not present if i get rid of the theme and use the plain boring theme that you have . all i want to know is why this issue is happening with the theme i am using. and if possible it would be nice to get an answer in my email so i don't have to click on a dozen help pages trying to find it . thank you ..
edit by a moderator: if you want to be able to discuss the issue with someone, don't do it in a shouting format (all uppercase), as this is considered rude on the internet - therefore i have converted your text into normal characters. in addition i have removed your address from public display since you will be notified per mail once somebody replies to the thread anyway. What is your support question? This? <br />CANT EVEN COPY A URL IN MY ADDRESS BAR OR REFRESH IT ?
A number of other users have mentioned a similar problem. <br />
Chances are that you have an add-on installed that isn't completely compatible with Firefox 29. You need to figure out the culprit and disable it until an update for that add-on is available.
If so, Try Firefox Safe Mode to see if the problem goes away. Firefox Safe Mode is a troubleshooting mode that turns off some settings, disables most add-ons (extensions and themes).
If Firefox is open, you can restart in Firefox Safe Mode from the Help menu:
*In Firefox 29.0 and above, click the menu button , click Help and select Restart with Add-ons Disabled.
*In previous Firefox versions, click on the Firefox button at the top left of the Firefox window and click on Help (or click on Help in the Menu bar, if you don't have a Firefox button) then click on Restart with Add-ons Disabled.
If Firefox is not running, you can start Firefox in Safe Mode as follows:
* On Windows: Hold the Shift key when you open the Firefox desktop or Start menu shortcut.
* On Mac: Hold the option key while starting Firefox.
* On Linux: Quit Firefox, go to your Terminal and run firefox -safe-mode <br>(you may need to specify the Firefox installation path e.g. /usr/lib/firefox)
When the Firefox Safe Mode window appears, select "Start in Safe Mode".<br>

If the issue is not present in Firefox Safe Mode, your problem is probably caused by an extension, and you need to figure out which one. Please follow the Troubleshoot extensions, themes and hardware acceleration issues to solve common Firefox problems article to find the cause.
To exit Firefox Safe Mode, just close Firefox and wait a few seconds before opening Firefox for normal use again.

• HT1600 I have Apple TV version 7.4.2 and we pressed on the remote the select button and the menu button at the same time to update our software.  The box shows white light, we can get the screen to select netflix but nothing will move and the box will not

I have Apple TV version 7.4.2.  We read in a blog that in order to reset our Apple TV we should press the menu button and the select big button at the same time which we did.  Now when we attempt to turn on the apple tv box it with the remote we get a white light and sometimes we can get the menu screen but the remote will not let us move now will it allow us to turn the apple tv on or off.  If we just leave it alone, the white light eventually goes away.  I did unplug the apple tv and we removed the batteries and reinstalled them from the remote and that did not make any difference.  Please advise.

If your problem persists get yourself a micro USB cable (sold separately), you can restore your Apple TV from iTunes:
Remove ALL cables from Apple TV. (if you don't you will not see Apple TV in the iTunes Source list)
Connect the micro USB cable to the Apple TV and to your computer.
Reconnect the power cable (only for Apple TV 3)
Open iTunes.
Select your Apple TV in the Devices list, and then click Restore.

• I upgraded from 3.6 and could not get the orange Firefox button but only a grey one with misaligned commands. When I hit View/Menu Bar even this button has vanished and the screen resembles 3.6

I use Win7 on a desktop PC. I upgraded Firefox 3.6 to 4.0. Where there should have been the orange firefox button was a grey button 'Firefox' with a small arrow. on clicking this the commands were there, but not properly aligned. There was also no minimise/maximise/exit buttons on the top right of the screen. I checked 'Help' and found no info. I then turned on View/Menu Bar. The minimise/maximise/exit buttons appeared; the grey button vanished and the screen now resembles FF 3.6. However About tells me that I am using 4.0.
BTW, I also tried various Beta versions in 2010 and abadnoned them because the same problem happened.

The orange Firefox menu button will only appear if the menu bar is hidden.<br />
Are you using a custom theme (Tools > Add-ons > Appearance/Themes) ?
Start Firefox in Safe Mode to check if one of the add-ons is causing the problem (switch to the DEFAULT theme: Tools > Add-ons > Appearance/Themes).
* Don't make any changes on the Safe mode start window.

- Reset all settings
Go to Settings > General > Reset and tap Reset All Settings.
All your preferences and settings are reset. Information (such as contacts and calendars) and media (such as songs and videos) aren’t affected.
- Restore from backup. See:
iOS: How to back up
- Restore to factory settings/new iOS device.
If still problem, make an appointment at the Genius Bar of an Apple store since it appears you have a hardware problem.
Apple Retail Store - Genius Bar
Since they all line up on the left site that could be a hardware problem or maybe a software glitch. I have never seen that problem posterd here before
