I have lost sound on my iPad in apps unless I use headphones ,does anyone know how to get sound back without them .I have used the mute volume on the bar at bottom of screen and the slider volume control there only shows when headphones are plugged in !
I also tried resetting settings all to no avail ...I looked up some advice and watched utube video advice on how to fix without success..
The volume control button on side does not work ,I got the iPad last August and wonder if it is a fault that means I must return it for replacement from where it was purchased ?

The Retrospect you used way back when is no longer around. The company was sold and that company produced a new version of Retrospect - Retrospect 8.x
So, as you've been told, you would have to be running a Tiger system with an old version of Retrospect software (5.x or 6.x - you would need to know) assuming you can find the software.
As best I can remember you cannot extract files from a Retrospect backup except using the software since Retrospect did not normally make a file by file backup rather it created an archive of the files in the backup. I'm assuming that the EMC/Retrospect people have told you that old Retrospect backups are not accessible by Retrospect 8.x?

  • The tray bar at bottom of screen as disappeared. how do i get it back

the tray bar at bottom of screen has disappeared and also the favorites bar and menu bar at top of screen has disappeared also. how do i get these back.. everything in IE is fine, only in firefox do i have this problem

Hello and thanks for the help. My address bar, toolbar and system tray was missing. I felt very lost without them! Pressing F11 brought them back, but every time I switch to a new page, the system tray disappears again. In the View menu, all the available toolbars are checked but I still keep loosing the system tray every time I move to a new page. H-E-L-P!

  • Grey bar at bottom of screen disappeared for all websites, how do i get it back

all of a sudden the grey bar at bottom disappeared. it no longer tells me if a page is loading, connecting, etc
    == This happened ==
    Every time Firefox opened
== the other day out of the blue

It is possible that the screen is too high and that the status bar and scroll bar fall off at the bottom.
Open the system menu via Alt+Space and see if you can resize that window.
If that works then close Firefox to save that setting.
    See also http://kb.mozillazine.org/Resizing_oversize_window
Window sizes and positions are stored in [http://kb.mozillazine.org/localstore.rdf localstore.rdf] in the [http://kb.mozillazine.org/Profile_folder_-_Firefox Profile Folder].
Delete ''localstore.rdf'' or rename to '''localstore.rdf.sav''' in the [http://kb.mozillazine.org/Profile_folder_-_Firefox Profile Folder] to test if the file is corrupted.
    See http://kb.mozillazine.org/Corrupt_localstore.rdf
(caution: do not delete the localstore.rdf file in the Firefox program installation folder)
    Note:
Deleting the file [http://kb.mozillazine.org/localstore.rdf localstore.rdf] will reset the customizations of the toolbars to the defaults.
You can rename ''localstore.rdf'' to '''localstore.rdf.sav''' to test if that solves it.
Then you can restore the customization by copying ''localstore.rdf.sav'' to ''localstore.rdf'' if it didn't work.

  • White bar at bottom of the root view

    Hi,
I have two view controllers in the app. When the app starts, the layout of the root view controller's view is just fine. When a button is clicked, the view controller switches to the other one - which shows fine too.
However, when the view is switched back to the root view, the contents are shifted UP by about 20 pixels, leaving a white bar at the bottom! - and it was not there when the app had started.
Has anyone seen this? Any idea what's going on there?
    Thanks, Sam.

It might help to see how you're switching the views. Also I would log the frame rectangle of each view before and after each switch. E.g.:
    - (void)logFrame:(UIView*)view withComment:(NSString*)comment {
    CGRect frame = view.frame;
    NSLog(@"%@: x=%2.0f y=%2.0f width=%2.0f height=%2.0", comment,
    frame.origin.x, frame.origin.y, frame.size.width, frame.size.height);
You can almost always correct this kind of offset by simply resetting the frame each time you add the view, though this shouldn't be necessary if you're doing the transition correctly. Of course if there are top or bottom bars involved, things are more complicated because the controller will try to make the correction and a manual correction might be needed.
If you can't get the numbers sorted out, please post the transition code, the Console log produced by calls to the above example, and if the views are defined in IB, the original frame rectangle shown in the Size Inspector. Also let us know if there are any top or bottom bars, and whether the top status bar is always visible.
    Hope that helps!

  • Internet browser problems (white block at bottom of screen)

    Hi,
Recently I have been unable to properly use the internet on my BlackBerry Curve. Over a quarter of the screen at the bottom when I go on the internet is white so I can't scroll down so it's unusable. I've noticed although it is accessing the internet the little blue loading to the intenet bar when a page is loading is no longer showing at the top of the screen too. If I search for something like a restaurant or something on Google for example, the first restaurant will show in the list but because of the white block and no scroll down bar I can't look at anything else. It's very weird. Can anyone advise me as to what might be happening, I'd really appreciate it.
    Many thanks

  • How can I disable an add on of a second status bar or browsing bar at bottom of screen above the Start button? It pops up showing every site I visit.

There is status/info/browsing line of information showing every single site I use and changes with every site I visit. It isn't in a box, but it shows basically all my browsing. It is like the address bar, but it is at the bottom of the screen and the information shows right above the 'start' button. If you try to click on it, it moves to the right side and you can't right click on it to see if you can close it. It may be an add on, but I don't know how to get rid of it. It is like I have two status bars but this one isn't in a box, it just shows in a line at the bottom of the screen. It shows all browsing information, and it is very distracting when I'm using my computer.

You appear to be describing the status messages. The easiest way to hide them is to use the Status-4-Evar add-on. With it you can choose to not display any of the status messages, or display them in the add-ons bar or location bar instead.

  • Information Bar at bottom of screen

The new 1.9 program added three days ago may have improved and added some fetures but said program has ruined my viewing pleasure and experience specifically my visual interaction with my Television screen. Change for the sake of change, why? I think the only option for me is to discontinue Fios service, despite being happy to this point.
    Problem #1:
The information bar at the bottom of the picture takes up 1/3 of my 52 inch screen, 1/3!!!  The font size of the overload of information on the info bar is far to small. According to the rather unfriendly and unproffesional tech support people this cannot be changed.  I feel sorry for the elderly and visually challenged fios customers, including myself, as It is difficult if not impossible to read the info due to such small font. Also less is more in terms of the ammount of information I am forced to view on my screen every time I change my channel.
Fix: Bigger font and less information Ie. only provide channel and time etc...
    Problem #2:
The above listed information bar stays on 1/3 of my screen for 8-10 seconds every single time I change the channel. This is more frustrating than problem #1 for the following reasons. A) Said info bar blocks/covers the sports tickers on the bottom of the sports channels preventing me from viewing them B) Said info bar covers the games score and other stats or game info offered by the network presenting the game. C) Said Info bars presence covers up the actual game itself for 8-10 seconds, preventing the game from being viewed. These shortcummings of the system are utterly frustrating. This information bar once again is overkill because the "Info Button" at the top of the remote can be easily accessed when detailed program information is desired. Give us options!
Fix: Offer Softwear options to delete info bar, if so desired, or at least allow for the bar to be viewed for only 2-3 seconds no more.
    Problem #3:
Channel surfing during college and pro football games on Saturday and Sunday is problematic and frustrating due the above mentioned concerns.
Fix: Change softwear giving more individual options for customizing service.
I look forward to contact from a Fios Rep soon otherwise cancellation of service is all I can do for I will not subject myself to this type of viewing service.

Oh for heavens sake, just hit the Exit button.
I think the point is that there's really no justification for how much screen space is taken up with regards to some of the new menu, DVR and information displays as opposed to the OP not having thought to just hit the exit button.  Also, while it would appear that the latest Verizon hardware might alleviate some or all of the minor techincal issues users are experiencing, I can't imagine the display is going to change much in terms of interface ratios that can only be described as excessive at best.

  • Java Applet Bar on Bottom of Screen

I get a bar on the bottom of my screen when on pages that require Java, " Java Applet Started" is typical. Folks I've asked about this say they aren't getting it. What is the cause and what is the solution? I'm using Windows XP, and this most often occurs in Yahoo's game rooms, if this helps with determining what's up. Thanks for the help on this one. Please send replies to:
    [email protected]

I'm not sure which you are talking about, but it's 1 of 3 things:
    1) The applet is not signed, and it opens a Java frame or dialog and there is a message at the bottom of that which says something about it being a Java Window.
    2) The bottom of the browser has a status bar, which says that the applet started. This is just a status bar in the browser has. Some browsers let you hide it, but it otherwise is the same bar that shows the URL when you mouse over a link or gives loading status of pages (loading..., done).
    3) If it only happens on certain sites, then this is some custom page/applet design thing explicitly done by the site designer.

  • 2008 Pro has flashes of black bar at bottom of screen

I'm getting flash of a black bar the full width of screen and height of dock at the very bottom of the screen.
It flashes quickly twice about every 10 seconds.
I just got the box last night.
    It has an 8800GT card.
Didn't notice it last night, but left in on all night to format a hard drive with multiple passes.
I've rebooted and the condition persists.

Think I have a clue. I have two monitors connected to the 8800GT.
I had the card set to 'mirror mode' and I had my 2nd monitor turned off as I was attempting to clone my main hard drive, no need to burn the electricity.
When I turned on the 2nd monitor, the menu bar appeared 1/4 way down the screen, so the hole screen was pushed down by 1/4 and there was some garbage at the top of the screen.
I took it out of mirror mode with both monitors turned on, and the problem went away (I may have also rebooted).
    Some driver issue with 8800GT.

  • Menu Bar on Bottom of Screen

Does anyone know how to make a program appear permanently on the menu bar at the bottom of the screen? Thanks,
    Jimmy
    New Jersey

Hello and welcome to Macintosh and the Apple (user to user) Support forums.
In your Applications folder you'll find the original icon for the program.
Simply drag this to your "Dock" and a alias will be made that when clicked will link to opening the application as well as other things. If done correctly the original application will remain in your applications folder. (or wherever you have the original application located)
If you have a app on the "desktop" for instance, first move it to your applications folder before creating a alias in the Dock. Or else you might wind up with a question mark if you move the original app afterwards.
You should be looking at reading a few books on Mac OS x to get you started

  • I have a translucent bar across bottom of screen.  How do I remove?

I have a translucent cloudy looking bar across the bottom of my screen.  How can I remove this?

The dock can be described as a translucent cloudy bar going across the bottom of the iPad and depending upon what your wallpaper is, that could fit your description to a "T". But if this is not the dock bar that you're describing, try a reset.
Hold down on the sleep and home buttons at the same time for about 10 seconds until the Apple logo appears on the screen.

  • How can i hide this window from the start bar at bottom of screen???

    Hi,
I have created a program that will sit on my desktop all the time but i have a little problem with it.
Well i want my application not show in the toolbar at the bottom where my START button is, like a dialog window. I am not sure if you can do this with a frame and didnt know what the toolbar at the bottom of my screen would be known as so i didnt know what to type in the search bar.:(:(.
Well if you can help me i be most grateful.
    Thanks in advance

o well, that dont work in my program. My programhas
menu bars in it so JWindow dont work.I suppose a GUI trick you could do is to put put a
JDesktopPane in the JWindow and then put a
JInternalFrame inside that. Then have the internal
frame maximized to fill the JWindow to look like a
real frame. You should not be able to move the JWindow with the JInternalFrame.
