White boundary line around flash movie

Hi,
When I use a flash movie on an HTML page it all looks good in
Mozilla Firefox. In IE on the other hand, it sucks, because when
you move your move over the flash movie you see a white boundaty
box. Which makes it all look very silly.
How do I get rid of that?
Thanks in advance for any help you might be able to give me.
FatalDestiny

uh oh - here we go again - duck and cover!!!!!
If i had a nickel everytime this was asked in the past few
months i would have....let's see - go here:
http://groups.google.com/advanced_group_search?q=group:*flash*&hl=en&lr=&ie=UTF-8&oe=UTF-8
(the google archive of the forum)
and search for "active content".
A total of 362 (and rising everyday) returns.
Multiply that by $.5
I think I would end up with $181. (is my math correct?)
Anyway you get the point. Search the forums first - it was
just asked and answered at least twice
just yesterday. It unfortunately will be asked again today a
couple more times, and then tomorrow
and the next day and....
Most of us are simply too tired to even respond to this
anymore but we understand that searching for
the right terminology is often hard to discern.
But here's the url that has been posted here a couple hundred
times already - guess it can't hurt to
paste it again :)
http://activecontent.blogspot.com
If you search google for "active content" you will realize
just how popular this little bit of tech
news was/has been over the last 6 months - been all over
blogs and news sites for a while.
There are methods to combat this on this site (yes,
adobe.com) and all you have to do is search
adobe to find:
http://www.adobe.com/devnet/activecontent/
An entire section devoted to this issue.
When you hover over any active content in IE you will see
this:
http://www.mudbubble.com/staging/ac.jpg
See the little tool tip instructing you what to do? If you
google that ("Click to activate and use
this control" or similar), you will find 2,050,000 returns
(wow)

  • Boundary line around image.

    Hello
Does anyone know if it is possible to make a boundary line all the way around the outside of a design
? I know this is possible in CorelDraw. I have tried Offset path in ai, but it seems to offset all lines, including the internal lines inside a  design.
I would like to produce a closed boundary line around the design, which could be used as a cutting line for laser cutting of the whole design as one piece..
    Thanks for any help.
    Regards.

Your link isn't attaching, but I think I know what you're looking for.
Group everything you want outlined, select the group, open your appearance panel (if it isn't already) and from the flyout menu "Add New Stroke"
You can then select that stroke by clicking on it in the appearance panel and apply an offset (or any other effect or effects) to it.  If you want it offset, you'll also have to effect -> pathfinder -> add it, to make it all one shape instead of outlines of all the components.
Note that for this method, the offset command needs to be Effect -> Path -> Offset Path, not the one under the object menu.
Depending on how your laser software works, you may need to Object -> Expand Appearance to "render" it out as it's own separate object.
More info on the awesome power of the appearance panel here, here and here.

  • White lines around flash embed

I've created a gif animation and saved it as a flash doc. When I put it into a GoLive page, it has a one pixel white line around the top and one side (the side sometimes switches depending on the animation). This is not in my animation files and it prevents me from using a black background or butting another image on top of it.
Any thoughts on what's causing it and how to get rid of it?

  • Box Around Flash Movie

On my flash movies when I post them to the web, there is a
box around the movie and then it says "Click to Activate and Use
the Control". Why is it doing this and how can I get it to
    stop?

my 1st reaction is that these posts are just a funny
joke - since about every 8th post is on this
    exact topic nowadays
My newsreader is actually downloading them as the same thread
because they share the same subject
line - usually that happens with subects like "HELP!" or
    "URGENT!" lol

  • Border around flash movies?

I just noticed this morning that now my flash movies have a
border around them and I have to click on the movie to activate
them. If I hover my mouse over it, it says "Click to activate and

I think Microsoft updated something last night that causes

  • White jagged lines around text

I've just created some text with gradient it appears with strange white jagged lines arount it.
it's hard to notice them, but they're very disturbing.
(I'm talking about the text under the illustration)

Can't see any jagged lines at this zoom level. Can you please post another screenshot after zooming in some more with the Text selected? Include the Appearance panel in your screenshot.

  • Unwanted border around flash movie

Though I found that this problem is quite common and can have
different causes, I still couldn't resolve my own case.
I have several flash animations embedded in a table and the
one that has a rollover-action shows an unwanted border in Firefox
and in Internet Explorer. The borders are all set to 0, the
vertical and horizontal spacing of the <object>-tag is set to
0, too but no matter what else I tried it just doesn't work. The
animation does not show these borders when I test-compile it in
Flash, so I guess it could have something to do with the way
Dreamweaver embeds it in the HTML-file.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.

no worries - i access forum through the newsgroup - i dont
see any web features. also - when

  • White lines around black

I know that some similar things have been discussed.  The only reason that Im bringing this up is that some have said that a white jagged line around a black object will not appear in print, and to check it by making a pdf out of it.  I made a pdf and the white line still shows up.  If I take this to the printer tomorrow is the white line going to print if it shows in the pdf?  or do I have nothing to fear?
    Thanks for your help!

You can tell if it is only a preview artifact by zooming in incrementally and seeing if the white increases proportionally or of it stays abut the same thickness as you zoom in closer.

  • How to draw white border(only corner) lines around camera view finder

Hi. You know those white corner lines around the camera view that is found on most camera apps, how do I draw those lines around the camera view? I'm developing a video camera app and now I want to draw those lines to indicate where the camera view finder
is. The white line starts at the top left corner of the camera view(horizontal) then stops about one quarter and starts again at the other side(top right). The same at left, right and bottom side. It shouldn't be a full square/rectangle just the corners. I
think you understand what I'm talking about now. How can I draw just "video camera corner lines"? After this question I want to ask you how to change the resolution like to 176*220, 240*320 ect and what the available resolutions is for capturing
video-clips. For now just the white corner lines of camera view. Thanks in advance:-)

How do I draw lines and shapes on top of the camera view finder(cvf)?
+how do I show the battery life bar on cvf?
+how do I programmatically add text on the cvf?
+how do I make a connection request? (connect to a URL)?
+how do I change the resolution of the video camera? What is the acceptable values for resolution?
+how do I listen for touch events on the cvf?

  • Can't get rid of thin outline around embedded movie?

...even after setting it to "Invisible Rectangle" in the settings box.
I'm trying to get a flash animation, converted to quicktime movie (imported with legacy format option), embedded into the PDF, and then playing as the page becomes visible (i.e. the look you'd get if you were using powerpoint)
    test file attached...
This is my 2nd preference as I was trying to get my flash animation embedded into my InDesign file which then was to be exported to PDF... but when I tried both quicktime movie and SWF it caused my Acrobat to "unexpectedly quit"... again and again... so after much frustration have given up and was trying to embed the quicktime movie into the PDF - which will be take up much more time as it's a 150 pg presentation in InDesign and every time I send the PDF for approval I will need to reimport the movies into the PDF... but at least it doesn't crash out... BUT just can't get rid of the thin black line around the movie.
I convinced the client to do the 150pg presentation in InDesign not powerpoint (as has been done previously) but need to offer them the same offering as powerpoint with all the animation - which I thought would be no problem with importing flash files into InDesign - but I'm finding it fraught with difficulties!
They'll be wishing they used Powerpoint!
Any help would be so much appreciated
PS using Adobe CS4, Mac OSX 10.4, Acrobat 9

Thanks very much for the response Sandee. I tried your suggestion of the  Annotation option and this worked! - wonderful.. altho this test now works for me I'd still love to get it working from InDesign.
What I'm trying to achieve... my client had 5 powerpoint presentations that need updating with new branding (totally about 160 pages - with about 20 basic animations - i.e. flashing lights on products etc).
I sold him on the idea of using InDesign/PDF rather than powerpoint - but am needing to find an easy solution for the animations. So I've been working on this test file. Have self taught myself on a basic flash animation (from Lynda.com)... and tried importing both SWF and QT .MOV into InDesign and then exporting to PDF and when it loaded up in Acrobat it would always "unexpectedly quit" upon opening... even after trying different versions of PDF compatibility and restarting etc.
Is there something obvious that I'm not doing right?
Also if I get it to work, does that mean that my client and all their staff around the world will need to be Acrobat Reader 9?
Thanks again for your time and help

  • Boundary Lines on Simple Web-site project

I'm new to Muse, and I'm setting up a very simple personal portfolio web-site.
I ran into a minor problem. I'm setting up a very clean Master page with an all-white background. Muse puts a black boundary line around the header area and the master page's body text area and footer. I need to eliminate these boundary lines but I haven't found a way to get rid of them.
    How do I do that?
    Thanks in advance!
    --WA

    Hi WA,
Seems the black line is coming up due to stroke width selected.
Select Header, footer and the text area and put the stroke width to 0, or select none in stroke drop down.
    Here check this link: http://gauravr183.businesscatalyst.com/images/2013-06-11_1450.swf
    Hope this helps.

  • Dashed line around iCal appointment

I have seen this posted in several areas but no solution to be found as of yet.  SOMETIMES when I create an appointment in iCal, I get a clear background with a white dotted line around the appointment.
Each time I create an appointment, I invite my wife.  I always get a yellow exclamation point before her name (or any name/email I use for invite).  SOME appointments have a man with a question mark in the upper right hand corner (these are the ones that have the clear background and dashed line)...
When I create an appointment, invite my wife, one of three things happen:
    1)  the appointment is created in the appropriate calendar, invitation is sent and I am done.  I do not need to wait for her to accept the appointent.
    2)  the appointment is created, clear background, dashed lines, little man with question mark in upper right hand corner, invitation sent.  When she accepts, the color for the calendar fills the appointment and the dashed line is removed.
    3)  the appointment is created, clear background, dashed lines, little man with question mark in upper right hand corner, invitation IS NOT sent.
    HELP!  This is frustrating...

    Greetings,
The events where the dotted outline and the little man appear, are they part of a calendar in the "ON MY MAC" section of the iCal sidebar on the left hand side or a different section?

  • Failure to run a flash movie in IWeb

    Hi All,
I've created a flash movie using Adobe Flash CS4, have gone through the procedure "by the book" following a how-to-do video [yes, I'm a novice!!].
I've published the file and produced the necessary files filename.swf, index.html, skinUnderAll.swf and a preview.jpg
OK, everything seemed OK, but try as I may, I cannot get the **** thing to run on iWeb via my me.com using this code in a HTML Snippet:
<IFRAME SRC = "http://idisk.me.com/MYUSERNAME/Web/Sites/flash/index.html" WIDTH="720px" HEIGHT="576px" FRAMEBORDER="0" --if "0" no border, otherwise "1" with border MARGINWIDTH ="0px" MARGINHEIGHT="0px" SCROLLING="no" --"no" no scrolling bar, "yes" show always, "auto" showed when need > Your browser does not support IFRAME </IFRAME>
"index.html" refers to the html that was produced by Flash CS4 and double clicking this runs the video.
For the life of me, I cannot understand where I'm going wrong & it's driving me nuts!
Can someone please check that code out & see what's wrong.... or is the prob elsewhere?
    I've looked through
    Any assistance most gratefully received!!
    TonyT

    Hi again, Roddy,
Many thanks for coming back on this one again... it's appreciated.
What's odd is that if I double-click on the original file called "redsea.html" file on my computer, the movie opens & runs OK, so I guess the html is OK. I've even "copied" or downloaded the file back onto my Mac and placed it in with the other related files and it loads & runs OK.
In answer to your question, if I change the target to a preview file (a .png image file) within the same directory, this opens in a browser window. So the path appears to be correct. However, if I target the "redsea.swf" file nothing happens other than a blank white window where the flash movie should be; albeit a correctly sized and positioned window.
    This info may help further;_
What I did from from scratch, I created a short movie and used Adobe Flash CS4 to create all the necessary files and copied them over to my iDisk. The files included the redsea.swf, redsea.html, preview.png, the SkinUnderAll.swf & the .flv file associated with the flash movie. These were uploaded [http://web.me.com/myusername/flash/redsea.html].
I've then used the code below in a html snippet in iWeb, but the movie refuses to load.
If, however, I change the target to a preview file (a .png image file) within the same directory, this opens in a browser window. So, I guess this means that the path to be correct.
I don't understand why the .html file will not open in iWeb?
For more info, here's the code I used:-
    <object classid="clsid:D27CDB6E-AE6D-11CF-96B8-444553540000" id="obj1" codebase="http://download.macromedia.com/pub/shockwave/cabs/flash/swflash.cab#v ersion=10,0,40,0" border="0" width="720" height="576"><param name="movie" value="http://web.me.com/myusername/flash/redsea.html"><param name="quality" value="High"><embed src="http://web.me.com/myusername/flash/redsea.html" pluginspage="http://www.macromedia.com/go/getflashplayer" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" name="obj1" width="720" height="576"></object>
    Any help most gratefully received!!

  • Weird marquee around my flash .mov

I get this weird marquee around my flash movies on

flash content. Then I get this message on the flash movie that
says, "Press SPACEBAR or hit ENTER to activate this control." It's
not a big deal, but it annoys me because it looks bad and you have

Does anybody know why this is happening? Thanks.

just search anywhere for "active content" - been front page
