White horiz lines in image after rotate

I have pasted an map image from ArcMap 10.2. The pasted image looks fine, and the scale is correctly maintained (I had previously set the scale in both programs to be the same).
However, after the image was pasted in to Visio 2010 and I rotated the image, the rotated image now has faint white lines running horizontally. In an 9x17 image within an 11x17 document there are 8 such lines, evenly spaced from the top.
Any suggestions as to how to rotate the image without incurring the horiz lines?  Or how to get rid of the lines after they appear?

Hi,
To further help you, could you please upload a sample file created in ArcMap 10.2 to Onedrive and share the link here?
According to a preliminary inspection, white horiz lines in image appearing in drawing may be caused by compatibility of ArcMap 10.2 and Visio 2010.
We need to do more research, then tell you more detail information.

  • Strange horizontal lines in images after render

Hard to explain but after I rendered, many of my photos which have motion have horizontal lines in them like those hologram toys from the old crackerjacks boxes. The images moves like commanded but there are lines in it.

Yes when I play it or burn to DVD they are still there but not when I am watching it on the timeline. If I render all then sometimes this happens. I've rendered, seen the change, clicked undue and they look good again. Strange. It's not on all of them but some are really really bad. Wish I could show you. I'll think on that and maybe post it to utube or something.

  • An unwanted white border appears around image after dragging it to the document. Why? How to get rid of border?

    Thanks.
    Bob

The primary image that I'm concerned with is a jpg file, 74kb, 642x402. Also used same image at 53kb, 400x249.
    Here's some good info.
I tried using same image on an old Pages document I made last yr - No border.  And - I used an image from the old flyer and put it on the current flyer and - got a Border.
A difference: the flyer I used last yr was a blank document - no template. The current flyer I'm working on is one I chose from the templates with the tear-offs at the bottom for name and phone number.
Is there something intrinsic with this template that creates a border around images?
How do I do a screensnap? If you still need.
    Thanks again.

  • Jagged Edges after rotating a stroked image

I've have this problem a lot but I guess I'm just now getting around to ask about it.
When I have a  photo in cs2-cs3-cs4 etc and I rotate it at an angle I get fine jagged edges all along the sides. It's becomes very pronounced in a stroked image even when I I stroke the image after rotation. The problem is more obvious when the image is not at angles like 45 or 90 degrees but more visible at in between angles.
    Any suggestions?

What you are seeing is alaising, and it is inherent in raster graphics when the line to be shown is not parallel to the columns or rows of the image. It can be mitigated to some extent by antialaising, which softens the edges of the diagonal lines. When you select all of an image and stroke for a border, antialaising is used. With the polygonal lasso tool, you can turn antialaising on or off. Alaising is less apparent with very high resolution, but it can't be elilminated.
Here are triangular selections with antialaising turned on and off:

    Here's the thing happens :
    1- BEFORE (a clean cutted image) :  http://img4.ressim.net/out.php/i5801318_1-jpg
2- Using a plugin (also with others): http://img4.ressim.net/out.php/i5801319_2-jpg
    3- AFTER (white border) : http://img4.ressim.net/out.php/i5801320_3-jpg
    This is so interesting.
I use ''knockout2, remask3'' for cutting and ''Imagenomic Portraite'' for retouching.
That never happened in CS4 32-bit.
Now i use CS6 64-bit and whenever i APPLY an effect/filter (include PS's Refine Edge) or plugin, there happens a strong white border/line on the image.
I can delete it by using so many ways like ''contract'' but it kills the details.
Can somebody tell me why is that happening?
This must be an option or something cuz it never happened in any other photoshops that i used.
    I used the same plugins.

It happens with even plug-ins or proper PS functions (like REFINE EDGE option).
    Photoshop adds the (white) edge.
Because in that plug-ins or PS funtions there is no ''white edge/border'' in preview.
This happens after i apply those.
I checked out all the preference or anti-aliasing things, i tried to re-install the plugins or photoshop. I couldnt find any solution.
    Please help.

  • Giving a black and white line work image a transparent background

I am working in Photoshop CS4 (mac).  Currently, the image is comprised of black line on a white background.  How do I go about giving the image a transparent background?

A day later, I have still not figured out how to accomplish what it is I am trying to do.
I have not yet tried what you have suggested in the last post and am about to go at it once again.  I should mention two things.  1. My  goal is to drop this image into InDesign (cs4) when completed. 2. The image has interior space betwen the line work/image itself that I would like to contain transparency.  Not sure if I am being clear here. The issue lies in when I actually drop the image into InDesign.  While the image appears to already have a transparent background, once it is dropped into InDesign, the image then assumes an opaque/white background.

  • When doing the app exposé gesture, is it normal to see a thin white horizontal line at the bottom of the screen after minimizing a window?

I noticed that when I open two windoes (say Safari and Trash can) and minimize both windows so they go on the dock, when I do the swip down gesture with 3 fingers (App Expose´) there is a thin white horizontal line at the bottom of the screen. Does it happen to every macbook pro out there?  Is this normal?  Hope it's not a display screen problem...

You would have to have multiple pages of the app minimized.
This is what it looks like with Safari with 1 page open and 4 minimized.

  • What is the white horizontal line and red vertical line on my brand new ipad mini?

Bought a brand new ipad mini 2 for my sons Christmas, took it out the box and it was during the set up process, ie entering his iTunes and icloud account, a white horizontal line and a red vertical line appeared on the screen and is there all the time now.  Have tried switching off and on and resetting, but it is still there.  Any ideas??

So the lines didn't appear until you were into the setup?
Does the orientation of the lines change when you rotate the screen?

  • Illustrator CS2 adds mysterious white dashed line thru my linked Photoshop file

Im using Windows XP, Illustrator & Photoshop CS2, Acrobat 7.0 Professional.
I have an illustrator file with a linked PSD file that has this mysterious thin white dashed line going through the entire image & I have no idea what it's from or how to repair it.
My trouble shooting thus far includes:
    - In illustrator - I hide all the layers to see if there was an odd graphic on another layer that was causing the line, nothing. I tried to select the dashed line, not possible. I've created a PDF of the file, and the dashed line is in the PDF too (to verify it wasn't just Illustrator). Oddly in both Acrobat & Illustrator when I zoom in & zoom out, the dashes maintain their on-screen viewing proportions (like the dash spaces recalculate to the same tiny thin dashed line no matter what zoom Im at)
    - In Photoshop - I zoomed in until I couldn't zoom no more and there is not the slightest dashed line in the graphic.
Lastly, I have this exact linked setup repeated throughout several different files (basically its the same ad but laid out to different dimensions for each)... and none of the others have this mysterious white dashed line.
here's a screen capture from Acrobat... zoomed into 6400%
argh - can someone help? Thanks!

Hi guys (and sorry for the tremendous delayed response).
No the line doesn't print on my local b/w laser printer. However I have seen the lines print in 1 newspaper publications... (this is out of 50 different publications)
Yes, the image is rotated slightly in illustrator, and I always flatten prior to making the PDF (cuz of the transparency/drop shadow).
It's really making me nervous that ALL our ads have these lines appearing during onscreen viewing... Im making a new batch of ads for our campaign & there are more lines than before!
Any tips theories remedies my friends?

-Shutdown the computer, and restarted by pressing Command, Option, P & R after the restart tone

This is a brand new Macbook Pro, just out of the box. It was fine for two days without any issues, fine last night while in use, opened it up this morning with the line.
Anyone now how I can fix this on my own?

  • Black screen with white flashing line on startup

    ~issue~
Hello; I've recently encountered a problem with bootcamp that I can't find a solution to... Every time I start up the computer in boot camp, all I get is that black screen with the white flashing line. It comes up, goes to a plain black screen, then quickly comes up again. It never stops, either. I've let it run, and it won't finish.
I've had the partition for MONTHS now, and nothing like this has happened. I've had it since I upgraded to Snow Leopard awhile back, and needed to re-partition the drive. I literally had been using it the day before it happened, and the only thing that happened was that I got that "Windows Security 2011" malware, but I got rid of it fully (As I've gotten it 3 times this month). The other two times I got it, it didn't do anything. I fixed it, and went on with life. But is it possible that it broke something in the partitions inner files this time?
I ran disk utility, and it said the partition was broken. After verifying it and confirming this, I did "Repair Drive", as it allowed me to. It finished with no errors and said it completed, so I tried to go back into the partition, but it gave me the same results.
To be honest, most of my stuff is on my External Harddrive, so re-doing the partition is only going to be time used to me. But I still DO have things on there, and it'd be a pain to transfer them back and forth between the Mac and Windows partitions... I'd really like to know if there's anyway to fix this, or if it's just going to fall back to me re-partitioning the drive...
Thanks for the help in advance.

That blinking line is a "cursor."  It's only supposed to show for a second or two as your iMac switches to and then starts Windows.  But as you indicate here, it's not getting past the cursor..
Disk Utility can repair FAT volumes, but it cannot correct issues caused by corrupted items which, if the volume was repaired, there may be some.
Since we are dealing with a Windows boot partition, it's entirely possible that the repairs inadvertently corrupted the data Windows needs to start and run.  It's also posible that Mac OS, in fixing the Boot Camp volume, overwrote the existing boot record in the Windows partition with a generic, though non-bootable version.
Windows' own CHKDSK should have been used to make the repairs rather than the OS X Disk Utility, which would have avoided this worst-case scenario in data recovery.  CHKDSK has a special version of itself on the Windows disc, which may be accesed by using the Windiws Recovery Consile upon pressing R during the "Welcome to Setup" screen.
Though it appears ftom my position here that you will need to reinstall XP, it may yet be possible to recover data that hasn't been copied to the external HDD.  For this task, I'd like to recommend that you start up in Mac OS for the time being, and pull any new or changed items from the Boot Camp volume except for installed software; the latter are nearly impossible to transport with reasonable accuracy, and should instead be reinstalled.
Once you have what you need, format your Boot Camp volume and reinstall Windows, this time selecting NTFS as your filesystem.  NTFS is the preferred option for Windows in general, thiaks to its innate file access controls as well as the ability to compress or encrypt data "on the fly."  NTFS can be read by Mac OS X, but not written from it, thus NTFS volumes cannot be altered except by Windows itself..  But it is also a requirement if you plan to upgrade your unit using Windows 7 in future.

  • White box behind transparent images with drop shadow in InDesign CC 2014 (v.10) but not in InDesign CC (v.9)

    Hi all,
Please can you help? No matter what settings I use in my print options in InDesign CC 2014 (v.10), ALL transparent images with a drop shadow are printing with a white box behind the image. If I remove the drop shadow, all prints fine. I know this is an old issue that happens with ID sometimes but I have been lucky enough to never have had it happen to me before! (All images are regular flattened TIFF images with clipping paths).
Also, feathered edges are not printing correctly and are sharp instead of feathered.
When I export the document to IDML and open it up in InDesign CC (v.9) all prints perfectly with no white boxes and feathered edges prints perfectly as well. I have compared all of the print settings (including color management, transparency flattener, etc.) between both versions and they are exactly the same. I am printing to a Xerox color laser printer. Can anyone offer any advice?
    Thank you so much,
    Christine

Okay...false alarm! It turns out that the issue was with my PRINTER settings (the settings you customize after hitting the “Printer” button at the bottom of the Print dialogue box in ID CC. I thought I had triple checked this but it seems there was one setting I missed earlier…adjusting the print brightness seemed to cause the issue. SO GLAD to know it was not InDesign…20 or so sheets/prints later….and thankful to know what was causing the issue! Thank you so much Steve for helping at any rate:) Much appreciated:)

  • Colored lines in images from Photoshop CS2

One of our users is having a problem with colored, horizontal, 1 pixel lines intermittently appearing in photos worked on in Photoshop CS2 (as far as I know he is in Tiger - unable to check presently as I am at home and he is in his home and everybody is off on holidays...). I will ask him about OS etc, but will probably not get an answer immediately.
Does somebody maybe remember what causes this (if the description is enough)? Reminds me of the white lines in images sometimes talked about. But these are colored, horizontal. I did a forum search and a kb search but found nothing.

Also try adding - bad Ram corruption - to your search as these are also symptoms of bad ram
Typical symptoms of bad Ram in Photoshop include rows lines patches of bad pixels on screen that also print (the actual file is being corrupted). If the bad pixel areas are on the monitor, but do not print (the actual file is not corrupted), video card or video-card drivers are prime suspects.
A bad cable, bad card, bad switch, bad/misconfigured router, bad repeater, bad termination, bad wiring, bad hard drive, bad controller, bad connections, bad logic board, bad CPU just about anything between your computer and other computers can also cause these symptoms in Photoshop, said Adobe computer engineer Chris Cox.

I have windows 7. Recently, after Moz upgrade, I noticed that emails with in-line attachments are either completely deleted, or only the name of the file in text is shown - not the image itself.

Let's try this first. Hold down the Shift key while you try to launch iTunes. You should eventually see the following dialog:
Click "Choose library". Browse to inside the following location (depending on what operating system you're running):
