White icons in InDesign

All of my Indesign icons are white. Does anyone know why that is? The rest of my Adobe programs are fine. I am using InDesign CC 2014 on a PC, Windows 7.

I asked IT to reinstall. Unfortunately our IT guy is cranky and stubborn and refuses to do a reinstall because he is convinced it won't work and god forbid anyone tell him how to do his job. He even went to far as called my boss complaining to have me stop asking about the icon. He's worthless. So I guess I'm stuck with white icons. Thanks anyway!

  • Anyone ever find an answer to generic white icons on the desktop?

    Hiya,
I only just updated my system from 10.4.2 - 10.4.5, and have discovered the problem as described in this thread: http://discussions.apple.com/thread.jspa?threadID=222509&start=0&tstart=0
There is no definitive answer on the thread and I can't reply as it's archived. I'd love to know if someone has come up with a solution and explanation, as the white icons are a bit annoying, and more importantly, I want to know if it's a sign of anything being wrong with my system.
    Thanks alot,
    Charity

Did this start for you after updating your version of Mac OS X? Mine started after going from 10.4.2-10.4.5. I think that judging from other people's posts, it's the 10.4.3 update that does it. It's happened to quite a few other people, but not enough for there to have been a proper answer found unfortunately.
I'm just living with it for now. FYI, you can also get rid of the white icon by labelling the items as a colour (and naming them back again if you want), or by getting info on the item and clicking on it's icon in the top left corner and pressing the delete key... but the colour label thing would be easier for doing it for many documents at once. Mine also fix themselves after a reboot. Mind you, as this is a weird blip, it might not be the same on your computer.
I'll get back to you if I find what's wrong, but I've looked into it quite a bit and can't yet figure it out yet. I may try a few suggestions on another thread. If you work it out, could you let me know too?

  • How to get rid of white icons on ipod touch 4th generation

How do you get rid of white icons on the ipod touch 4th generation.  I tried resetting it already.
    Thanks,

First, try a system reset.  It cures many ills and it's quick, easy and harmless...
Hold down the on/off switch and the Home button simultaneously until the screen blacks out or you see the Apple logo.  Ignore the "Slide to power off" text if it appears.  You will not lose any apps, data, music, movies, settings, etc.
If the Reset doesn't work, try a Restore.  Note that it's nowhere near as quick as a Reset.  Connect via cable to the computer that you use for sync.  From iTunes, select the iPad/iPod and then select the Summary tab.  Follow directions for Restore and be sure to say "yes" to the backup.  You will be warned that all data (apps, music, movies, etc.) will be erased but, as the Restore finishes, you will be asked if you wish the contents of the backup to be copied to the iPad/iPod.  Again, say "yes."
Finally, if the Restore doesn't work, let the battery drain completely.  Then recharge for at least an hour and Restore again.

  • White icons

after i downloaded the iBook app, the notes and mail icons gone white, i resynced the phone and reset it, but still the same. its iphone for running on ios 5.0.1
so what do i have to do to get my icons back?

Connect your phone and ***back it up*** to itunes.  Then delete the white-icon apps.  Then put them back on.  Then restore your data.
***The backup part is important if you have data associated with your apps that you care about.  Backup is a menu option that appears when you right click on the device.   Restore is in the same menu.
I read that this problem occurs when you let your phone battery drain completely resetting the date to 1970 so make sure your date/time is reset to the current date/time before doing this process.
    Hope this helps.

  • My app icon became a white icon

I just reboot my iPod touch 4g from changing language , and my app icon all gone missing , it just show a white icon over there.
Anyone knows how to solve this problem ? thank you.
    My iOS is 4.3.3

    Try:
    - iOS: Not responding or does not turn on
    - Also try DFU mode after try recovery mode
How to put iPod touch / iPhone into DFU mode « Karthik's scribblings
    - If not successful and you can't fully turn the iOS device fully off, let the battery fully drain. After charging for an least an hour try the above again.
    - Try on another computer
    - If still not successful that usually indicates a hardware problem and an appointment at the Genius Bar of an Apple store is in order.

  • White background in InDesign

    Hi,
I've drawn a white background on a page of a spread in an InDesign file by drawing a white rectangle. However, the rectangle doesn't cover the bleed even though I've brought it to the edge. I checked the transparency on the rectangle and it is 100%.
Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks very much for your time.

Once the frame edge is up against or past the bleed line then it's bleeding, enough.
The guides are set to be in front, that's why you see the bleed guide in front of the frame.
If you want the guides to be in the back then go to Preferences>Guides & Pasteboard and select the Guide Options to have Guides in Back.

  • White icons on ipod touch

I have an ipod touch and have just noticed that some of the app icons have turned white otr blank.
Anyone have the same problem and know of a fix. I have restarted the ipod.
    Many thanks

Try to reset the iPod first by holding the sleep and home button until the Apple logo comes back again. You will not lose data doing a reset.
If you delete apps in order to download or sync them again, you will also erase the data of those apps while removing them from your device.

  • File icons displayed as plain white icons

    hi
pls help me .. I have recently stalled the Mac OFFice - but still I am unable to see the word XLS and PDF icons as Plain WHITE - without seeing the colored icons for my files .
    Pls help.
    Thanks

Establish a telnet connection with your server:
    telnet server_ip server_port
    Write:
    GET /path_to_your_jnlp_file HTTP/1.0
    and return twice.
You will see the http response your server is sending. Analyze the Content-Type header of this response. Is it set to application/x-java-jnlp-file?
If no, then your server isn't well configured.
If yes, then it's your client that isnt ok.

  • After renaming the desktop shotcuts have all turned white (icon picture missing)

    Hi,
I'm trying the new windows and I just renamed some of the desktop shortcuts - removing from them the awful suffix "shortcut" and after restart they all turned white and the picture disappeared. The icons have been deleted also from the aplication's
.exe file and can't be reloaded.
    Thanks
    Win10 user

    1. Go back to that registry hack program you were using to remove the arrows, UN-DO it.
    2. If that failed to restore the desktop shortcuts, use the following tutorial. It is written for Win 8 /8.1. It is applicable to Win 10 TP.
    http://www.eightforums.com/tutorials/8486-default-file-associations-restore-windows-8-a.html
At the File Type or Protocol table, scroll down to .exe
    > click it and save it to the desktop.
Follow the steps listed at the top of the tutorial from #1 to 7.
Scroll down to .lnk    and repeat
    the steps #1 to 7.
    Reboot your computer.
Hopefully, that will restore your shortcuts' file type associations.
    Good luck.

  • ICON: Black Nano/White Icon

I recently downloaded the software updater for iPod. I disconnected the iPod so it would not automatically update before I had a chance to review the updates. I was interested in making sure I didn't have the volume dampering update. In the process my black nano icon was replaced with what looks like an older white iPod or a white video iPod.
How do I get my icon back?
How do I make sure I don't have volume limiting updates on my Nano?

    hi Jared!
    they'll need to find us.

  • White lines in InDesign CS6

I'm using ID CS6 on a mac with OS 10.7.4 (Lion). I want to draw a white line. I'm using either the pen tool or the line tool and clicking on the "paper" swatch in the swatches palette to color the stroke white. The line immediately disappears. It doesn't matter how thick I make the line. If I click on a text box, choose "stroke" and "paper" for the stroke color, I get a white line around the text box. Picking other colors creates a visible line with the chosen stroke color. Only the "paper" swatch makes my stroke disappear.

Hey c….. thanks for asking for the screen shot of the panels. As I studied them for awhile before taking the shot, I noticed that I have the effects set to "multiply" instead of "normal" !!!
Stupid, but I probably would never have caught it if you hadn't asked to see my panels. Thanks!!!!!

  • Chose a photo to print, then the screen went grey (spinning white icon), and iPhoto will not respond

I chose a picture to print, but instead of a print dialogue box, the screen went grey and iPhoto will not respond.  I have even shut down my iMac completely, but when I relaunch iPhoto, I get the same screen (grey with the spinning "thinking" icon).  I am running the latest version of Yosemite on the iMac.  Thanks for your help.

Back up your iPhoto library, Depress and hold the option (alt) and command keys and launch iPhoto - from the resulting first aid window repair the database  and if necessary rebuild your database

  • InDesign CS6 icons

My InDesign CS6 files open properly but all files have the blank white icon as if the system does not recognize the file and what program to use. Does anybody know how to fix this as it's driving me nuts! I'm using Windows 7 on a 64-bit machine.

    Hi Peter,
An employee at my office is having the same issue in a similar form: the icon was initially viewable, then because Windows default, I uninstalled and reinstalled the program and the icon was then viewable again then, in a seemingly random manner, it became Windows default again. I figured uninstalling and reinstalling would solve the problem again but unfortunately this time it did not.
I thought perhaps determining which DLL it is that generates the thumbnail and then registering it might make a difference.
    Can you help?
    Thank you,
    - Reuben

  • .m4v file icons have become solid white in Lion Finder under iTunes 10.6.3

    Hi there,
I'm making this a dual category post, since I cannot determine whether this is an iTunes issue or a Lion issue.
I discovered that after updating iTunes to 10.6.3, all Finder icons for file container type .m4v have changed from their standard iTunes "notes" icon (with "M4V") to a simple white icon, regardless of the Finder view set. (Icon, List, Cover Flow)
All other iTunes-related icons are fine (.m4a, .m4r), as well as icons associated with other applications - it is limited to .m4v video files, as seen in the below Icon view screenshot:
My thread in the Lion forums, including actions already taken to attempt to repair, is found here:
    https://discussions.apple.com/thread/4032208?tstart=0
Has anyone else noticed this, or am I alone in experiencing this anomaly?
    Thanks!
    Steve

Bumping an old thread. I have this issue also under OS X Yosemite (which has been present since Lion), where m4v generic icons are white. I tried deleting the finder plist and rebuilding launch services through Terminal and Cocktail, to no avail. Any suggestions? Thanks
