White iPhone 3GS/4G

I just upgraded to a white 3GS last month. I was wondering if it's possible to get a white iPhone 4 at christmas if it's out by then? Or will I not be eligible for an upgrade? I know that sometimes they let you pay a $18 upgrade fee to upgrade your iPhone if you're not eligible for an upgrade through AT&T.

If you just bought an iPhone, you will not be eligible for a subsidized upgrade until late next year. You would be able to buy one if it comes out for the full unsubsidized price of $599/$699.
The $18 is not a special upgrade fee to get a new iPhone. It's the price ATT charges to change your service whenever you buy any phone.

Why is there no white iPhone 3GS?

Apple has a white iPhone 4S, they even kept the white iPhone 4 around. This begs the question of why doesn't Apple reserect the white iPhone 3GS? Adding a white iPhone 3GS could add additional profits for Apple.

I'm trying to decide if I should wait for a white iPhone 4, get a white 3GS or black iPhone 4.
I'm with Sprint right now. My contract is up on the 1st of July. I need to switch to either AT&T or Verizon. Sprint has admitted that their coverage is very bad in my area. I find frequently that I have no signal. I want to make the switch now, b/c I'm planning my wedding, moving, going back to school, looking for a job in the new city I'm moving to, etc. etc. etc. I need to be with a carrier that actually has good coverage in my area.
Waiting for a white iPhone might not be an option for me.
Do you guys think I should get a white iPhone 3GS or a black iPhone 4? Are all of the features of OS4 available on the 16 GB 3GS? I just did the update on my 8 GB iPod Touch only to find that home screen backgrounds and multitasking are not supported on it.

I should probably mention this:
I'm thinking about purchasing a white refurbished 16 GB iPhone 3GS. I don't really want to spend more than $99 on a phone. It's not pragmatic for me to spend any more than that.
So the question remains, will a white refurbished 16 GB iPhone 3GS support all of the features of OS4? If not, then I'll see what I can do to afford a black 16 GB iPhone 4.

my last i phone was the 3G. It was dropped and the glass shattered. This time with the purchase of the 3GS, (I bought white) along with the incase protection case in black. Beautiful contrast. You have to be nuts not to buy a protective case. Dont believe those Youtube videos claiming the Iphone is indestructible. Its not.

The full retail sales price for the iPhone 3GS in the U.S. is $599 for the 16GB, and $699 for the 32GB plus applicable sales tax depending on the city where the iPhone is purchased. The iPhone sold at the full retail sales price in the U.S. does not require a contract with AT&T, but the iPhone remains carrier locked with AT&T.
AT&T's fully subsidized or discounted price for the 3GS in the U.S. is $199 for the 16GB, and $299 for the 32GB plus applicable sales tax. This price requires a two year contract with AT&T.
In addition, support and warranty coverage by Apple is honored in the country where the iPhone was sold officially by Apple only.

Should my 16GB White iPhone 3GS Get hot when using it?

Got a White 16GB 3GS and been using it for a while, and it works great, no worries with it at all.
But recently when i've been using it, its been getting really hot, and you can't really touch the back. Like this morning, i turned it on, snyc'd it with my Mac, then watched 15min of an Apple Keynote Podcast, and check twitter, and now its just sat playing music. And the back it really hot. And i've been using it for like 30min...
Is this normal? What can i do about it?

Are you charging it while watching the podcast.
Yes, they can get hot. But not hot to the point where you can not touch it. Of course, the other thing is your sensetivity to heat. Everyone has different tolerences. So it just kinda depends on what you think is too 'hot".
playing just music shouldnt get hot. But multi-tasking could make it get hot.

Uneven glass screen more apperent on white iPhones...

Ok i had 4 white iPhone 3GS for various problems but all of them had uneven glass screen to the chrome...each replacement i had this...my friends bought the 3GS to and all their black iPhones got even glass screen to the chrome...dont know if they manufacture white ones at a different factory...

This issue actually does bother many apple fans who are expecting perfect product design and manufactured product paying premium price for their product.
It's product quality control is below average comparing to established electronic device manufacture.
Inconsistency is very significant especially in Iphone line starting from the originals. Among all 3 of the replacement I had, none of them were identical. So as in apple portable's keyboard touch and feelings, It feels worst when your friend with a same machine has a better keyboard touch and feelings.
Many of the apple products utilizes white plastic, they look cool for the first 2 month, but then it gets so scratched up and dirty don't look great anymore. Apple needs further investigation if they want to keep using this material. Aluminum is a good choice because it maintains it's aesthetics for a long time.
Apple headphones, the cord twines so much I hate it. None of the sony headphone will have that issue because they've been making headphones for a long time. There is a difference in material.
Apple product design needs further development for it's durability and use.
Each and every product needs to function, look and feel the same for a long time, just like your ordinary housewares.
Beside mentioned product manufacturing quality control issue.
I am happy.

Getting Rid Of Duplicate Pics on iMac synced with iPhone 3GS. HOW?!

Ok heres the thing. And I searched the forums before coming here to ask for help. I have a white iPhone 3GS 16gb and every time I sync my iPhone with iPhoto it just keeps duplicates. I literally have 1400 pictures and maybe 300 are original, the rest, copies, copies, and more copies.
PLEASE help me figure out how to delete duplicate pictures in iPhoto 09'. I am currently using the base model 3.06 ghz, 21.5 inch screen version Apple iMac, running "Snow Leopard", 10.6.4 if that helps. I just want to get rid of of all these duplicates without having to go through the whole thing one by one! There has to be away to, like in iTunes, you can hit the "Duplicates" button and it brings them up and you can erase them one time not do it for each one!!
Anyone know or understand what I am trying to do?

Something is not working correctly - if you have checked ignore duplicated you should not be importing them

Maybe renewing your iPhoto preference file would help for the future - A good general step for strange issues is to renew the iPhoto preference file - quit iPhoto and go to "your user name" ==> library ==> preferences ==> com.apple.iPhoto.plist and trash it - launch iPhoto which creates a fresh new default preference file and reset any personal preferences you have changed and if you have moved the iPhoto library repoint to it. This may help
This does not affect your photos or any database information (keywords, faces, places, ratings, etc) in any way - they are stored in the iPhoto library - the iPhoto preference file simply controls how iPhoto works - which is why renewing it is a good first step.

White iPhone 4 with InvisibleShield?

I have a white iPhone 3GS, and I went to get a full body protection from Zagg. They told me their invisible shield on the white created a yellowish tint from the sun after a couple months, and recommended me not getting the shield placed on the back because that is where the white is. Now since I'm planning on getting the white iPhone 4, with white on the back and front, do you think this yellowing will occur on the front as well?

here is my experience with shield protectors. the day i got my iphone 3G from best buy about 2 years ago i got the zagg protector for it. i put it on both of the sides and i did a heck of a job, it looked good and i put a case on top of it to fully protect my new investment ( i didnt get the insurance on it haha) anyway about 5-6 months after i took the case off and saw that my zagg shield had a yellowish tint on the back side and a reddish tint on the front. ( i always had my phone in my pocket and rarely used it in the sun because i had the brightness on low to save battery ) so after seeing that my iphone just looked cheap i took the zagg off and just put the case on....well the case scratched the CRAP out of the back of my phone >=[..i decided to just use my phone without any case or shield after only one year of owning it. i didnt care anymore...and to my surprise i dont have one single scratch on the phone besides the ones that my case did

Iphone 3gs Random Lock Up

Ok....just got a 16 gig white Iphone 3gs....and have had it lock up on me twice now. Now when I say "lock up" I mean I double click the on/off switch to lock it, and when I try to use the phone, by hitting the home button and swiping the lock off, the screen remains black. The first time it did this...when the screen finally came back it was frozen and would not recognize any touch commands. Both times I have fixed the problem by resetting the iphone by performing a "forced" restart.
Other than that the Iphone has been doing well. I have not dropped it or damaged it in any way since i have had it....and besides from these two lockups it has performed well. I am just worried this could be the precursor to something much much worse, and as I depend on my phone for more than just calling....I want to handle the issue proactively.
Has anyone else had this issue? Or heard of this issue happening on any previous generation of Iphones?

Wow! I thought I was the only one with my iPhone 3G freezing & freezing & freezing!
Tried hard restart, reset etc.!
Also having issues with applications: applications changed icons! Let me explain- my application for Chase icon is from "compassApp" - Bump application has "Dictionary" icon!
Between my iPhone freezing & application issues, this has not a good experience.

The screen isn't broken because it works after i turn the device off and back on, but after it goes black once, it's only white again.
But it takes the touches although it's only white, because I can answer my phone when I slide my finger on the bottom of the screen, eventhough there in not the button to see.
This is so weird. I have already done everything I can think of that might help. But I cannot think of anything that might be causing it, because nothing has happened to the device.

My wife's iPhone is the same vintage as mine 3Gs, but has never had the battery problem. Its affliction instead is that it cannot detect WiFi networks unless it is quite close to the source. Often, when my iPhone not only detects but shows a maximum cells connection with a network, hers cannot detect the network at all. In contrast, her iPhone seems to detect ourcellular carrier just as well as mine does.
Is there any help for this affliction?

Since updating the software on my iPhone 3gs it has developed the so called "white screen of death". The phone has not been dropped or damaged in anyway, the problem only developed after software upgrade. Rung apple and they were less than helpful

I have tried the solution which seems to pop up most of holding down the power button and the home button for 10 seconds but this hasnt helped at all. Tried ringing apple, who were less than helpful and disinterested as the phone is out of warranty. I am hoping there is a solution which doesnt mean shelling out for a new phone! any ideas?

White screen of death iPhone 3GS 16gb

My iPhone 3GS displayed the White screen of death and was told to restore my phone but iTunes said there was a problem and now my iPhone won't turn on at all.

That happened to me once and the only was is to fix it is to use recovery mode.
1. Connect your USB cable to your computer but NOT your iPhone.
2. Turn your phone off.
3. When your phone is off, press the home button and connect your iPhone to your computer.
4. Your iPhone will turn on and keep pressing to the home button. iTunes logo will appear on your screen.
5. You can start your restoration progress.
Hope this helps. Thats is how I saved my phone. It also seems to me that the phone you are using right now may had been jailbroken and stopped working.
