White iPhone 3GS or Black iPhone 4?

I'm trying to decide if I should wait for a white iPhone 4, get a white 3GS or black iPhone 4.
I'm with Sprint right now. My contract is up on the 1st of July. I need to switch to either AT&T or Verizon. Sprint has admitted that their coverage is very bad in my area. I find frequently that I have no signal. I want to make the switch now, b/c I'm planning my wedding, moving, going back to school, looking for a job in the new city I'm moving to, etc. etc. etc. I need to be with a carrier that actually has good coverage in my area.
Waiting for a white iPhone might not be an option for me.
Do you guys think I should get a white iPhone 3GS or a black iPhone 4? Are all of the features of OS4 available on the 16 GB 3GS? I just did the update on my 8 GB iPod Touch only to find that home screen backgrounds and multitasking are not supported on it.

I should probably mention this:
I'm thinking about purchasing a white refurbished 16 GB iPhone 3GS. I don't really want to spend more than $99 on a phone. It's not pragmatic for me to spend any more than that.
So the question remains, will a white refurbished 16 GB iPhone 3GS support all of the features of OS4? If not, then I'll see what I can do to afford a black 16 GB iPhone 4.

You'll need to get your phone repaired. An iPhone 3G probably isn't worth paying Apple's replacement price given how old the 3G is now, so you may wish to consider putting your money toward purchasing an iPhone 3GS or newer model.

Your expectations are not based in reality.
Your G4 will not run iCloud. There will be no upgrade from Mobile Me to iCloud for you with that machine unless you do it manually, and only mail will work without further expenditure.

Syncing to a new iTunes library or computer will erase your phone. Only if you back up manually before syncing, you can restore your device from that backup again. A manual backup does not include the sync process.
Do this:
Disable autosync in iTunes, connect your phone to your new computer and right click on it in the device list and choose backup. iTunes will backup your device without syncing.
Transfer your purchases the same way, choosing "transfer purchases" this time.
When you connect your phone for the first time, all media content will be erased. But you can restore your settings and app data from your manual backup afterwards.
Don't forget to set up at least one contact and event on your new computer to be able to merge calendars and contacts when you sync the iPhone for the first time.
Music is one way only, from the computer to your device, unless you bought the songs in itunes and transferred your purchases.

Yes, of course I know it's not "supported" by Apple. They just screwed up my phone with their touted, lost me money in the stock market with Tim's apology for maps, and in their aloofness, won't help restore my phone's previous operation.

A message comes up in iTunes saying "The iPhone "xxx" could not be restored. This device isn't eligible for the requested build."
Does this mean that the build is wrong for my phone, i.e. the site gave the wrong "build" selection, or that Apple is blocking downgrades? Maybe someone will figure this out.

I purchased an incase slider before my 32 GB 3GS arrived. When I put the phone in it today, it was so incredibly tight that I almost couldn't get the phone back out of it. I called the incase company and they said that despite Apple's claims that the phones are identical it is possible that the 32 GB phone is slightly thicker and is causing problems with certain slider cases. Incase is nice enough to send me a replacement (even though I bought from apple store online) when they have verified that their cases fit the new phones. My previous iPhone was a 2G so I could not tell if the new case would have fit the 3G. I guess, try before you buy.

If nothing helps, you need to contact Verizon for information for an exchange or refund. This is a user to user forum, not Apple.
Apple's policy for a refund or exchange is within 14 days of purchase. Verizon's policy may be different.
Definitely try restoring .. hopefully you won't have to go through the hassle of an exchange.

Just purchased a Verizon iPhone 4 and would like to transfer the data from our previous ATT iPhone 3GS.
I've done quite a bit of searching and have read the support article HT2109, but cannot seem to find an option to use the original phone's backup file to restore from. It shows in the backup list, but is not available when connected to the new phone.
I'm sure this has been hashed out, but I've been unable to find it...yes, my search-fu could be weak.. ;/

Other than the restore from backup process in iTunes, no. If your Verizon iPhone were running iOS 4.3.1 you could use that backup, but not with iOS 4.2.6 on your phone. You'll just have to wait until Apple releases a new iOS for your phone.

Connect your iPhone to the computer. iTunes should open and show a "Summary" of your iPhone. Picture/Serial Number/Phone Number etc. On the right hand side you would click on "Restore iPhone"
If iTunes doesn't automatically show the summary pane:
Mac: Click on "View" at the top left, then click Show Side bar. Single Click on the name of the iPhone under "devices" section. Follow above steps to restore iPhone.
Windows: Click on the Box at the very top left of the iTunes screen, then click "Show Menu Bar" When the Menu bar appears click on "View" then click on "Show Side Bar" follow above steps to restore iPhone.
