White is not 'White', it is YELLOW!

I have a problem with the white color in Photoshop CS6, and I know it's not my computer or monitor. Anything white colored or anything for that matter, has a yellow tint to it. What should be white, is yellow. I even tried pasting a image of white on to the canvas, but that also turned yellow. I don't think it's my color settings. I also have Photoshop CS5, but that's fine. White is white. I pasted a screen shot of my computer onto both programs. CS5 is fine, but CS6 is still yellow. I cross referenced my color settings with CS5, making sure they're the same. One thing was different from CS5. The CYMK working space is "U.S. Web Coated (SWOP) v2". I tried switching it to Photoshop 5 Default CMYK if that could change it to the CS5 default, but nothing changed. Even the color pickers have yellow instead of white. Gradients and Black to Yellow. It's not my computer or monitor. I want to use CS6 for my photo editing needs, but I'll need to use CS5 to do anything that needs normal color. Please help, I want to use CS6, CS6 is so cool, but I don't want yellow, I want white.

That you haven't calibrated your display and that it appears to be a "standard gamut" monitor means you're probably okay with having your system work at Windows default settings.
Click Start, type color in the search box, then click Color Management when it comes up.
In the Devices tab, ensure that your monitor is selected in the Device field.
Check the [ ] Use my settings for this device box if it is not already checked.
If the sRGB IEC61966-2.1 profile is not showing in the Profiles associated with this device box, hit the [Add...] button and add it.
Click on sRGB IEC61966-2.1 and choose [Set as Default Profile].
[Close]
Now see if your colors look better in Photoshop.

I followed some other threads, and their advice was to change the color profiles. I did that, I am running on windows 8.1 and in photoshop, indesign and illustrator my whites are still yellow.

Have you got the correct colour profile installed for your hardware? or even try turning colour management off to see if that fixes the problem

AF shows Green sq - Afterwards Display shows white sq with yellow sq - with image often blurred why

New powershot 320hs - I'm getting the green auto focus bars when shooting a image, but afterwards the display detail shows a white sq with yellow inside square on the image I shot and the second tiny image for AF check tells me it is not sharp. This happens often when shooting and I have to shoot several pictures of the same image before I get a sharp picture. I noticed better results with face detection on but I'm shooting plant images so I don't understand why this is happening? I have had other elphs without this problem.

There are certain limitations on how close to the subject the camera can be and still achieve a focus lock. The yellow square indicates that the camera was unable to focus on the subject.
How close to the subject is the camera when you are focusing on it?

White screen with yellow stripes on start up?

On start up my screen is white with vertical yellow stripes and stays like that. I've tried re-booting but no good.

I hate having to replace computers, get attached to them, but having the geniuses check this one out will save a lot of frustration. A couple of these past discussions went on and on and on until the person gave in and did what you have done. If it is hardware there just isn't anything on-line help can do about it. Good luck tomorrow and if you have a chance, post the results...we are all fellow users on here and like to hear the resolution to problems.

White MacBook become yellow-dirty

Hi,
I've read a lot of articles from the web about cleaning methods for white macbook.
I've bought this laptop in 2006 and now, after three years of use (I'm a lady and I usually have my computer sessions with clean hands :-)) the area (especialt dx part) near the trackpad and the trackpad button are become somehow 'yellow'.
As I've tried first with computer cleaning kit that was very good for the screen and exterior part but doesn't solve my real problem. Then, I've tried with 'magic rubber' of Mastro Lindo that works for almost everything, but in this situation also this one was useless.
So, my mac is not cover by assistance anymore, but I think is something related to the material, not to the use. Before getting frustrated and running after my reseller to ask for assistance, I'd wanna now if some other people have the same problem and it has a solution.

The white MacBooks only have dirt and discoloration problems for some people, not everyone. It all depends on what you put on your hands or what your body secrets more abundantly than you wash off. We are all biologically different.
I have heard many folks say that they good very good cleaning results using Mr. Clean Magic Eraser (U.S. based product name) but I have never had cause to use it so cannot comment from experience. It is an abrasive so using it on the glossy plastics seems like a bad idea, but again, I have no experience with it.

Help with Color Settings/Profiles...White's look 'yellow' when exported to PowerPoint as a .png

I am running into this odd occurence and can't seem to figure it out.
First - I am not an expert in the Color settings/Profiles topic but I am thinking there is an issue here.
When I look at this image "McCroreyDigitalLogo.png" in Photoshop the 'whites' appear right.
Then when I import it into ms PowerPoint, the whites look yellowish.
I have done a series of 'tests' and it seems to be that the color profile out of photoshop and the one in PowerPoint are not compatible.
I have reset my Photoshop preferences with no luck/change to the results.
Finally, I did a screen shot out of photoshop and pasted that into Power point. The white appeared correct.
Could use some guidance on how to fix this one. Basically any files I run through PS, when they are imported into PowerPoint, the whites turn yellow.

PowerPoint is not a color managed program and can display the color values only in the color space of your monitor without any correction.
Color managed programs like Photoshop correct the color values when displaying them in order to simulate within the color space of your monitor other color spaces, for example sRGB, AdobeRGB, the color spaces of various printers, and etc. For this reason you can not match the color in non-color managed programs to the color of color managed programs but you can do the opposite match the color in Photoshop to PowerPoint.
There is two ways to do this:
One way is if you want the color values in Photoshop to remain the same but be displayed in the color space of your monitor which PowerPoint is using, you can either color proof with or assign your monitor profile to the document.
To color proof choose View > Proof Setup > Monitor RGB.
To assign, choose Edit > Assign Profile, select Profile and from the menu choose the color profile of your monitor. If you are not sure what's the name of the color profile of your monitor, go to the Color Settings, in the Working Spaces section use the RGB menu, scroll up and check what it says after Monitor RGB-
Both proof and assign will give the same result on your monitor but the difference is - the proof is temporary and will last only for the session and the profile, if embedded when saving the file, will stay and when open in other color managed programs including those on other users' computers the color space of your monitor will be simulated and for those users who don't use color managed programs the colors could be way off than if saved with a profile of a more common color space like sRGB.
The other way is If you want the appearance in Photoshop to remain but the color values converted to the color space of your monitor, choose Edit > Convert to Profile, and from the RGB menu choose the color profile of your monitor. This will preserve the appearance and also match the colors in PowerPoint but like proofing and assigning you are not seeing what other users may see on their computers.
It is not possible to see the same colors in color managed and non-color managed programs and at the same time simulate how others using different computers may see the colors because different monitors display color values differently. Color managed programs can simulate a common standard color space like sRGB while non-color managed programs can not.
Edit: Have in mind all this will work properly if you have a color profile that describes correctly how your monitor displays colors. What you did as described in your post #6 is assign a color space that may be different than the color space of your monitor. The result is when working in sRGB color space your color managed programs will match the non color managed programs on your monitor but that doesn't mean that the actual sRGB space is displayed and any other color space simulation could be based on a wrong monitor profile.

White iPhone 4 yellow display?

i wonder is it me or other white iphone 4 users have the same issue about the colour of the display. when i compared my iphone 4 white with my brother's black iphone 4. its completely different in its colour temperature. My brother's colour display is more to blue-ish compared to mine. in a warmer way. much more yellow-ish than it. and i find the displays sets that the apple uses are all in blue-ish colours. any idea?

i had the same yellow tint and the problem is very easy to solve , first i cant understand why apple are so useless when it comes to its ios firmware options , so many iphones have been returned to apple because of this problem and a simple tint adjuster would solve this problem .
ok onto how to solve this problem .
first you need to do something apple hate and always block with every upgrade , jailbreaking
simply jailbreak any iphone ( a temporary messure if you do not want this on your phone )
as soon as your iphone is jailbroken install " color profiles "
when you open this option you see colour temperature , adjust it to the tint you like from very warm to very cold ( blueish tone ) as soon as you have the correct tone you like you can then uninstall the jailbreak by reseting the iphone firmware ,
when your iphone has finished restoring you will see the tone you chose is still there and you can finally enjoy your iphone as you want to
why cant apple include this option in the brightness settings is a mystery or plain dumb , apart from letting users set the tone correctly for thier use it would save apple 1000's with all the returns to the apple store.
if an apple ios firmware developer is reading this then try and knock some sense into the apple's firmware dev team , hopefully before the ipad 3 comes out ( as they are bound to screw that one up tone wise again )
i myself find it a joke and poor on apples side to have to jailbreak my iphone to get the screen to display the correct screen tone .

I'm here to bring some HOPE for those users who won, I mean who got Z1 from the lottery yellow tint issue. I am an XDA user since then and I found a thread saying that the Japanese version of Xperia Z1 SO-01F got white balance settings yesterday and the OP ported it to our Z1 C69xx !
I installed it and CONFIRMED ITS WORKING. Results are farm different from Screen Adjuster app from playstore and such where blue is really noticeably. Navigation bar also changes using this. Although I'm wondering why it has different sliders compared to those on Xperia Z (Hue and Saturation), it will give you a peace of mind that the nightmare has ended.

You need to be ROOTED to have this, no other way. It's flashable through CWM but if you are just ROOTED and doesn't have CWM installed, you can just push the files to the folders and change permissions. (tell me if you need help on this one)

Yes, we will add a setting for white balance in an upcoming version of the phones software planned for the beginning of next year (see my response here: http://talk.sonymobile.com/t5/Xperia-Z1/Xperia-Z1-C6903-Display-Issue-Yellow-Hue-Tint/td-p/391521/pa...).
I don't have any Japanese unit so i can't confirm if it has been added there already and what it looks like though.

My 6520 all in one printer doesn't print yellow like it should. I ran the utilities and replaced the cartridge with another new HP cartridge and it still has horizontal stripes in the yellow test bar.

It appears that you're having an issue with the yellow ink printing out correctly with your Photosmart 6520. I will do my best to help you with this.
I would recommend starting with this document: Printer Does Not Print Black Ink or Color Ink, or Prints Blank Pages. If you have done all of those steps already, or are still unable to get the yellow working after doing them. Then I would suggest contacting support for further assistance.

Airport express not working. Solid Yellow, green flash, back to solid Yellow

I have an airport express that is not working anymore.
I have done a factory reset, when plugged in using an ethernet cable direct to my mac, it goes a solid yellow, flashes green for a second, then back to solid yellow.
If I watch the network preferences attached to this it says that Cable Unplugged.
When the green light flashes on the express, the ethernet connection in preferences it switches to no IP address for a split second and then not connected.
This is with Using DHCP
if I try using DHCP and give it a clean IP address, it goes green-connected for that second before back to not connected.
it doesn't appear in Airport utility 5.6 or 6.0
Any suggestions on what I can do?
or is it toast?

Hi
I have had problems over the years with my Airport Express (which i think i purchased aound 2005). Occasionally it goes wrong for no apperent reason (only use it for music on my wirless netwoork which the main component is my Airport Extreme for internet).
The final fix that always seems to work is to re-coonect to the computer via Ethernet cable and re-set.
Once green again, then put back into its original postion in its wirless state.
If this does not work, maybe its the end..Some last for years, some don't, bit like hard drives.
True sustaibilty is about manufactered good lasting for years, not replacing them when there is no need due to malfuction.

Time Capsule will not reset - just flashes yellow

I have a 2 TB Time Capsule that will not reset - it just flashes yellow.
I have tried all the various reset options, left the unit uplugged overnight and all I get is a blinking yellow light.
Via airport the only option that I see is to set up a wireless network, there is no configuration window for the time capsule. I am not using this a wireless device, I have a comcast modem for that. It is being used for backup only.
When I select time machine under system settings, I can see the drive. I can select it but it will not accept the password. I have verified that I am using the correct password from the keychains utility.
I don't know if this is related, but I named the capsule TMBackUp and it shows that name in disk selection list, but when I select to use it for backups and it asks for the password (which does not work) it says, Enter your password for the server "Time Capsule d629db" so that Time Machine can access it. I don't know if the name differenc is even relevant, but thought I should mention it.
I really suspect that it has something to do with the ip address. Up until recently I have had ip addresses that were similar to 192.x.x.x, now I have ip addresses that are similar to 10.0.0.x. I just resolved an issue that this ip change was causing with two tivo units. So I assume the issue with the time capsule is something similar. My problem is that I see no interface with the time capsule to check the ip address that it has been assigned.
I am willing to wipe everything to start over, I just can't figure out how to get there.
I would appreciate any help that anyone can offer.

I have a 2 TB Time Capsule that will not reset - it just flashes yellow.
The Time Capsule will flash amber when it has been reset. This is normal. A reset takes the Time Capsule back to its original factory default settings.
This is what you have done.
You will need to set up the Time Capsule again just like you did when you originally installed it on your network.
You can use the same name for the Time Capsule and passwords that you used previously, if you wish.
You do not need to "wipe" the Time Capsule hard drive. Your backups will continue from their previous point once you have the Time Capsule reconfigured to operate on your network.

Verizon 411 Business Listing: White or Yellow pages?

I have started a new emergncey business and I want to get on the Verizon 411 National Database.
Almost all of my calls would be first time customers because it is emergncy calls and people
would be calling and asking for a general listing and not asking for my business by name.
Do I want to be in the "white pages" or the "yellow pages" of the Verizon 411 National Database.

I talked to someone in Customer Service and got a run around. I KNOW it
can't be changed in the paper directory but CAN in 2016 Yet....I was told
it would be changed 3 yrs ago. So how can I trust ATT&T to do it? In
fact, I was NOT listed in the white pages directory 3 yrs ago as far as I
recall so I don't know WHO authorized this listing except maybe the
business owner at Catherine Ct. who could be getting MY patients? At least
MY bus. # is listed!
My proposal to Customer Service was to GET THE LISTING OFF ONLINE white
pages and Yellow Pages...NOW!! I see it's still listed under Catherine Ct.
after a week. I will continue to check and check and check. This is
uncalled for after this period of time! My IT lady went thru ALL the
websites, listings, etc. where I was listed. I personally had cancelled
the YP ad and the lady was very understanding and I have not been billed,
thankfully!! I would think with the 'wonderful' world of computers, this
should never have occurred.

White iPhone 4: "Warm" Yellow LCD Tint - Any owners out there with "blue" tint?

I just picked up a white GSM iPhone 4 the other day and, upon comparing it to my black GSM iPhone 4 (purchased in June), I noticed that the white iPhone 4's LCD is noticably (and I would say drastically) yellower or "warmer" than that of the black iPhone. I would say the black iPhone's LCD is noticably whiter, bluer, brighter or "cooler" than that of the white iPhone. I definitely prefer the cooler blue LCD to the warmer yellow; the color seems to pop more and whites actually look white, whereas the yellow looks dim and washed out.
Just curious if any other white iPhone owners received units with the blue tint or if they are all yellow. All the pictures in online hands-on reviews of the white unit seemed to have the yellow tint. I've also heard (on iLounge as well as other speculation) that the yellow tint was/is present on the black CMDA iPhones as well and that the yellow is simply a new panel manufacturer that Apple is now sourcing from and that there's nothing that can be done about it - all new phone will have the yellow tint. Hopefully that's not the case.
So, if anyone out there has the cooler LCD on a white unit, please let me know, as if they exist I would love to visit the Apple store to swap mine out for one. The tint is hard to notice unless you have two units side by side, one yellow, one blue. Even a 3GS side by side with a white 4 shows the disparity.
