White keyboard has no touch responsiveness with reduced transparency is on

On iPads, if you turn reduce transparency on, the "dark" default keyboard works fine, but the "white" keyboard's keys no longer flash when

Same here, so you're not alone. I've been troubleshooting this exact issue for the last day or so. The issue affects both of my iPad mini 2's under iOS 8.1.1 but NOT the iPad 3 which I recently update from iOS 6.1.3 to 8.1.1. My iPad 4 is still under iOS 7.1.2 so I cannot test that device as I'm not ready to update it yet.
I can confirm that the issue is that the white keyboard will not darken the keys as they are tapped if "Reduce Transparency " is enabled. The issue is most easily seen when using the Notes app keyboard and is 100% reproducible on both of my iPad mini 2's. If "Reduce Transparency" is disabled, the keys darken as the keys are tapped, just as it should.
At first I thought I had an errant setting somewhere, contained in my backup but that's not the case. Restoring the iPad mini 2's as new (NOT from a backup) does NOT correct the issue. Freshly restored as new with NO settings changed at all except for the "Reduce Transparency" setting still causes the issue. I even re-downloaded the iOS 8.1.1 update freshly today (I had the .ipsw restore file from first release) and restore as new with the new update but to no avail.
I believe this to be a legitimate bug with iOS 8.1.1 and certain devices within the same device family since my iPad three does not have the issue. Different devices pretty much have their own iOS version which may be the reason that some device have the bug while other do not.
I would say don't bother with restoring as new since in my testing, it does not resolve the issue...at least in my case and on two different devices in the device family.
@Demo: what device are you using? Your signature states "iPad 3"...

  • Having touch responsiveness with my iPad Air 2 iOS 8.1.1

I am having problems with the responsiveness of my iPad Air 2. From using the keyboard to selecting links. In addition trying to select and copy is difficult too. I wonder if it is the new screen tech they are using? I returned three iPad Air 2's and then My friend bought me one as a gift and it isn't popping like the others but it sure is non-responsive to my touch or anyone's for that matter. Very frustrating. It has the latest iOS 8.1.1 and it is a iPad5,3. I have restored it and Hard booted it

Not only frustrating but the odds of having purchased four devices that have all had the same problem have to be pretty high. That's incredible. You should probably purchase from another store if you decide to buy another iPad, which is actually what I would recommend. If you are having this kind of luck with wherever you purchased the iPads, return this one - again - and try another store.

  • No touch response with ipod touch 2g

OK, so I can't use my ipod
the physical buttons (the home, lock and volumn buttons) work but anything on screen, I can't touch, it doesn't repond at all.
I can't slide to unlock or slide to shutdown ( that's all that is possible from the lock screen.
    i HAVE restored my device.
    I am now on 4.0
this morning I got a tiny bit of water on the screen but I doubt thats the reason :/
just before it stopped working it lagged up loads when I went onto facebook because a palringo message popped up so I pressed one of the buttons, it took me to palringo but as it was still loading I exited it and opened up facebook again.
clicking the "close button" on the pop up didn't do anything
(maybe that was when the screen stopped responding to touchs)
    so I hard rebooted it.
    and now no response
    any fix?
thanks guys if you know anything

I am having the same problem with my ipod. It started acting up by blinking and flashing then just shut down. I think mosture when it was in my pocket got to it. I restored and got it back up on the screen but no touch would work. I called Apple and for $149.00 plus tax and shipping they said that would get it fixed no matter what the problem. I am sorry I don't have any better news. I could use some good news too.Call them and they will set it up. Good luck
PS I do hope WE can find a better fix be for having to send it out.

  • Wireless Keyboard 2011 won't pair with iPad 2

I have an aluminuim wireless keyboard 2011 which was paired successfully with my iPad 2 (with all recent software updates).
I now can't pair it at all. Here are some details:
    1. The keyboard has never been paired with anything else.
    2. The keyboard goes into discovery mode (green light flashing) - but won't stop flashing, even when the silver button on the side to the right is held for more than 10secs (or even 1min!)..... so the only way to turn it off is to take the batteries out.
    3. The batteries are fine.
    4. The iPad searches, but doesn't find the keyboard - there are no other devices listed either.
    5. Because there are no devices listed, I can't 'unpair' the keyboard - that's if it's still paired somehow in the ipad's internal brain!
    6. The one time it did find it, and I tried to pair - a message came up saying I should make sure the device was turned on and that pairing was unsuccessful. This was whilst the green light continued to flash.
    7. I've tried doing this in all sorts of orders: search first, then put batteries back into keyboard (light flashes); keyboard ready to go, then turn bluetooth on and search; search holding silver button on keyboard down the whole time, etc.
    8. Yes - I've powered down the iPad and turned it back on again! :-P
I've tried anything I've found doing an online troubleshooting search - but nothing has worked. So far I've spent three hours on this.
There's no Apple Store near me.
    Help?

In the end I had to travel an hour by train to get to an Apple Store.
After doing a complete reset on the iPad the keyboard now works. But I had to reconfigure it as a new iPad, rather than restore the backup - in case whatever caused the problem is put back onto the iPad. Which meant I could only sync apps that had their own accounts (like Evernote).  I've lost all the photos, notes, Good Reader & Pages documents.  :-(   Wish I'd never bothered with the wireless keyboard.
And still no idea what caused the problem in the first place. So now I'll save everything that's important separately, rather than through the iCloud backup.

  • Ipod touch 4 has a black screen with white and green lines across it and wont turn off

My sons ipod touch has a black screen with sometimes white lines and then flashes to colored lines. Also when i try to turn it off it turns right back on and has the apple symbol but then goes back to black screen with lines. what to do?

    - Try:
iOS: Not responding or does not turn on
    - If not successful let the battery fully drain. After charging for at least an hour try again.
    - If still problem time for an appointment at the Genius Bar of an Apple store.

There is no way to downgrade to a different iOS. Apple does not support downgrading. See this link regarding speeding up the iPhone 4. http://osxdaily.com/2013/09/23/ios-7-slow-speed-it-up/

I've been getting the error message "The disk you inserted was not readable by the computer". I can't open system preferences, disk utility, or Time Machine. I'm guessing it has something to do with my external hard drive, although it hasn't been touched lately, but I can't figure out how to solve the problem. Any suggestions? Thank you!

Thanks for your quick response. I had a look at your discussion... I tried it on a Windows machine and I thought that was compatible with ExFAT?
Therefore I need to attempt to use my external hard drive with a machine that boasts OS X 10.6.5 or above and then it should work?
    Thanks

  • How do I restore my iPhone? It has iPod touch information on it (pictures, keyboard is different - no more special symbols, etc.)

How do I restore my iPhone? It has iPod touch information on it, like old pictures that I had on my iPod touch (which I don't use anymore), and the keyboard has changed. Before I could use special icons and symbols, and now it's just basic (no shapes or anything). Is there any way to restore my iPhone to the condition that I bought it in? I don't want to have to buy another one, since I just got it.
I also recently changed my Apple ID and password...could this have anything to do with getting my iPhone messed up?

Setting up your phone "as new device" is described here: How to set up your iPhone or iPod touch as a new device
Apps and other media from iTunes can only be used with the iTunes account they were bought with.

  • My itouch has gone black blurry with white lines

my i touch has a black screen with white lines and will not reset

What happened whenyou tried to restore the iPod as suggested in the article I refernced:
If the above steps do not resolve the issue, or the if the screen remains black or shows a persistent Apple logo, try restoring with iTunes
Connect the device to your computer and open iTunes.
If the device appears in iTunes, select and click Restore on the Summary pane.
If the device doesn't appear in iTunes, try using the steps in this article to force the device into recovery mode.

  • Would a keyboard with after touch work with logic

Hi anybody out there know if a master midi controller keyboard with" after touch " feature make any difference to triggering extra features on a software instrument?
The keyboard I'm using at the moment is just a midi / USB ...
Don't get me wrong it works perfectly with LOgic
Let me give an example on a trumpet sound with the keyboard I had years ago you could press the keys after playing the note and get a vibrato effect ...
Which was very nice and made it sound more authentic....
The effect was delayed slightly and made it sound event more real,
I'm just wondering if a similar function exists in logic ...or will I be wasting my money...
    Thanks...let me know...

"After touch" as you have called it is controller data. So is modulation (from your mod wheel) volume, expression, pitch bend, velocity, and many others. All of these are sen by Logic as just that, controller data. You can edit the controller data in Logic, as well assign it to various parameters in the sound that you are using.
It sounds like you have been thinking about a keyboard where certain sounds are programmed so that the after touch data is interpreted as a vibrato cotroller, with a pre programmed delay. This is programming that is specific to the sound (I bet the piano sound doesn't behave like this)
So the answer to your question is, yes, Logic can read and record the after touch information (it would probably be called "channel pressure"), and use it to modulate your sound in any way you choose. You may find some sounds are pre programmed to do this, others you would be able to program to respond to the channel pressure in all manner of ways (like open or close filters).
Personally, I find it a clumsy way to conduct business, and I have it permanently turned off on my Korg Trinity when I use it as a controller keyboard. (Generally I prefer the USB controller from M Audio, which has no channel pressure). Unless you are an extremely gifted keyboard player with a very delicate touch, you will want to come back and re edit the data anyway to get exactly what you want, in which case you may as well program it after the fact with the mod wheel, which would be much more controllable.
Many libraries are layered extensively, and some of the layers and articulations have vibrato included n the sample (eg with orchesral instruments). Now that's more authentic than merely applying an LFO to a single sound.
But that takes a lot more money and experience and time. That's why good music production costs money.
If you had a keyboard that you really liked with after touch programmed into sounds that worked for you, of course you could hook it up to Logic, and then loop the midi back out to it and also use it as a sound module (don't forget to turn the "local" keyboard function off in the settings). This would work.
But to expect that all or most of Logic's own VI's have perfectly programmed after touch parameters, er, probably not. But you could program or tweak them once you got into the programming deeply enough.
    Good luck with that.

  • Has anyone tried syncing the new iPod Touch 4 with OS 10.4.11?

I know the "official" Apple spec's state the new iPod Touch 4 are
for it to sync with OS 10.5.8 and use iTunes 10 .... but has anyone been
successful in using the new iPod Touch 4 with OS 10.4.11 and iTunes 9.2.1?

Does iTunes see the iPod? If not
iOS: Device not recognized in iTunes for Mac OS X
    or
iOS: Device not recognized in iTunes for Windows
You need iTunes 10.7 or later on the computer
The iPod touch uses different drivers than the Nano
