White line in screen display

I got my 80GB ipod classic for Christmas. It has worked fine, but now it has a white line through the screen. It is annoying and makes watching videos a problem. Can anyone help? I don't want to send the ipod to Apple.

But it's more likely your iPod needs service.

Or you could take it into an Apple store and have them take a look at your iPod.

Flash of short white line when screen is black

Hi,
I have a 15-inch MBP, late 2008. Lately I've noticed that when the left side of the screen is (almost) entirely black, flashes of short white lines will flicker on the screen.
To demonstrate what I mean, please go here:

That above webpage has no content, except the background is completely black. When I view it in Safari and maximize the window to full screen, as in, the left edge of the page is touching the left edge of the screen, I get flashes of white lines.
This happens in other instances where the left part of the screen is displaying something completely black as well (ie: if I have a complete black image opened in photoshop and I am in fullscreen view mode).
I hope I was clear on explaining the problem. Has anyone else had a similar experience? I'm a first time mac owner. What are the steps to go through to get this repaired? (If it needs to be repaired, I mean). I live in Vancouver, Canada, but I bought my MBP through Apple.ca. Does anyone know how long it might take if I need to get it repaired?

I had that on my first unibody MBP (bought in october). Machine was replaced with another that had the BSOD issue. 3rd machine runs perfectly so far.
Basically, return it until you get a perfectly functioning machine. Call apple care and describe the problem to them. I did that with my online order and had no problems. Good Luck.

Vertical White Line on Screen

I have a HP Pavilion dv6 notebook computer. There is one vertical white line about 1/3 the way in on the screen. It goes from the top to the bottom and appears to be just about a pixel or two in width. I used to be able to tilt the laptop display to make it go away. Now it is permanent. It shows on BIOS too. Is there a way to make it go away? Super annoying. Of course, I am out of warranty. Thanks for any help/suggesions.
ps I read the links on the other kind of lines, green, colored, etc. this is just one thin white line.

White lines on Screen... What's wrong with my iPod nano?

My iPod nano 4th generation has two white lines close to the bottom of the screen. I have reset the iPod but it doesn't remove them. Has anyone of you experienced this problem?

Horizontal black and white lines on screen

I accidentally dropped my iPhone on my macbook track pad. It was about a 6" drop, nothing huge. But when the phone hit the laptop, the macbook screen immediately went to horizontal black and white lines. It reminded me of static on a tv. The lines lasted for about 30 seconds and then the laptop shut down and restarted itself.
Should I be checking the hard drive or anything?

How's it been running since then? Possibly you hit it hard enough to put a voltage transient through the machine.
Hopefully the logic board wasn't damaged but do what Oglethorpe says and have Apple run an ASD on it.

About a month ago I noticed a white line across the bottom of my screen. Not exactly sure when it first appeared, as I have had a light coloured background and only saw it when i watched a DVD.
I have reset the PRAM, etc but it has had no effect.
It doesn't look like stuck pixels, as they aren't all completely white. Around the time of me noticing it, I hadn't taken my laptop out of my room for a while (I do occasionally take it home/work, and thought it might have been damaged in my bag or something).
I have apple care and hopefully they will be able to repair it under that, but any suggestions in the meantime woudl be much appreciated. (have to wait until the end of this month until i can get to an apple store).
It's not a major problem, just irritating!

hi, it looks like we're in the same boat!
Iv'e had my nano since october and 4 days ago I turned it on and white lines were staggered throughout the screen blocking most of the wording and song titles underneath. And I didn't drop it or anything! I suggest calling APPLE support. From what my friends told me, there was a recall on the nanos awhile back due to screen problems and they should replace it for you. I still need to call them myself.

My 8520 curve has white lines across bottom of screen and i think it needs to be replaced. When i looked into this there are 2 screens how can i tell which one i need without tacking the phone apart?

I have a satellite P105-S6124. A one inch vertical white line is on screen. What causes this and can it be repaired? Its always there and never goes away.

Probably a defect in the screen. You can verify that by using an external monitor and seeing if it gets a white line down the screen too. If it doesn't, you've got a bad screen or possibly the video cable. Screens are expensive. Hopefully the computer is still under warranty.

Upon updating 5.1 iphone 4 blacked out with white line through screen and nonstop vibrating

i was updating lastest version my iphone 4 through icloud until screen blacked out with white line in middle of screen and started vibrating non stop.
tried a hard and soft reboot NOTHING WORKED
phone died
put back on charger
same problem screen would brown out and fade to black.
now it won't turn on.
fed up #FIX

phone lost full charge upon charging again now i have colored lines running horizontal through screen then vertical.
hard restart does nothing again.
but its no longer vibrating.
seems like serious software issue.

Iphone 4s less than year old att, want work, blue and white lines black screen

I have a iphone 4s with ATT, not even a year old. I dropped phone and now the screen is black with blue and white lines. I have attempted to reset the phone with no success. Is this a matter I can resolve with ATT or do I have to drive to genuis bar to get resolved?

It's probable that the iPhone has suffered hardware damage, and I don't believe an AT&T Store can do anything for you on such issues. You'll need to take or send your iPhone to Apple and pay their out-of-warranty service charge to get the iPhone replaced.

Rear Camera has horizontal white line across screen

Hi, I was given a playbook for Christmas and I love it but it has developed a horizontal white line on the rear camera which makes the camera and video unusable. I have customized my Playbook so am reluctant to take it back to the shop. Is there anything I can do to fix this or do I just accept that I'm not going to be able to use the rear camera or video? Hope you can help as in every other way my Playbook is perfect. Thanks.

If a Playbook is to be sent for repair, especially with an RMA, it is important to back up data files by WiFi sharing as a desktop software backup may not work if the unit is replaced with a refurb or new unit.

Lenovo s890 displaying white lines blur screen everywhere

I have s890 with me for more than 1 year now. Yesterday suddenly Mobile screen started to blur and showing vertical lines all over . font started to blur and showing double letters. One thing surprise me that top section where sim signals and battery signals are showing are not blur.I tried restarting phone also tried to remove SD card. Also tried factory reset. nothing worked yet. Any solution on this or anyone having same issue like this? Also this forum does not have attachment ability or I will share screenshots for this.

Thin white line in screen

Hey everyone,
I've scouted this forum to find people with a similar problem who may be able to help me out.
Im the (still proud) owner of a Lumia 820. I've had it for about 6 weeks. I'm pretty statisfied with it were it not that sometimes the screen freezes and I have to give the phone a 'hard reset' by removing the battery. This happened about 4 times. The first 3 times there was no problem, phone rebooted; problem solved.
The last time I did this the phone did reboot but with a thin verticle white (it seems to change colour with the background) line through the screen.
There is no damage to the screen (at least not the top layer), also the touch function seems to work fine. It seems that the problem is 'deeper' in the screen layers. Like I said, I didn't drop it or anything so I have no idea how it got there. Could I get rid of this by updating firmware/software? Or is the screen really broken and if so do you think I could get it fixed?

White Line down screen HELP?!

Ok out of the blue a white pix elated line that dims and brightens running vertically right down the middle of my screen appeared last night and after many restarts has not gone away. Now, the line spans across the screen so its not just in a browser or anything like that in fact i can type behind it and move windows around it to see whats under this line. At times it is completely solid white other times it fades in and out almost disaprearing. Someone please tell me my whole screen is not going soon

Weird worm shaped whiter line on screen

I recently received a 1.5 ghz refurbed model, which so far i love. however, i just noticed yesterday a strange whiteish line in the middle of the screen. it is super faint, but appears as a very slightly lighter shade of any lightish color that is in that area of the screen. it is most noticible on a white backround. it is not an spot like area but rather a wiggly worm or snake shaped line that appears to be several pixels wide and about 1/3 inch long, vertically on the screen, it is not on the surface of the screen, but appears to be behind the plastic screen itself.
any tips on what might be causing this? the screen is perfect besides this so if there might be someway to fix it without sending the machine back, that would be great. it is not very noticible, but it is in the middle of the screen so i am staring at all the time.

I also have the same problem. I've had my PB for over a year now, and I just noticed this a few weeks ago. At first I thought it was light leaking through the plastic Apple logo, but it's something wrong with the screen. Really only noticeable when completely white.
