White "line" through text?

I've discovered that I have what appears to be a white line running horizontally through text. It appears to be just one line at a time. I've changed the font size, increased the leading between lines and it's still there.
When I use the up or down arrow to go to another line, it follows. I'm completing a publishing project, so hope this won't interfere with what its appearance will be in the final product.
Does anyone know what this might be?

I'm just trying out Pages today and I'm seeing the same thing (in a word doc I opened, if that matters).

Suddenly I cannot move files from one drive to another, or from drive to desktop. Recently updated everything.

Any help would be most appreciated,

    Hi megagram & dreed2,
Thanks for staying with me on this.
USB drive and errant file both have 'read and write' clicked. There is no 'ownership' choice in the info pop-up.
Nor is there 'Ignore ownership on this volume' choice for the USB drive.
I'm using an administrator account. I created a 'root' account, but it didn't seem to have any effect - didn't fix the problem. (I don't like messing around with 'root' account stuff.)
I'm not running as a 'client in a Mac OSX Server environment'. Just as an 'admin' with the one tower and a rotating bunch of external drives (projects).
I did a work-around for now ... shipped the 'unmoveable' file out to an ftp site (it would allow me to do this), and I haven't heard if the downloaded file is causing any problems on the other end (yet).
If I come across a solution I'll post. It may have something weird to do with that funky drive (now returned to its owner), and me creating this particular file that same day as the funky drive was giving me problems. (Though the file was not ON the drive.)
And the (almost new) computer did go down for a day last week ... would not reboot ... took it to the shop, nothing wrong with it, brought it home, it's been working fine ever since. Go figure.
Thank you kindly for all your suggestions...

  • I dropped my Iphone 5 which resulted in it shattering and the screen was still on but it was black with only a white line through it so I couldnt access the phone however I switched over to my Droid and now I cannot send or receive messages?

I dropped my Iphone 5 which resulted in it shattering and the screen was still on but it was black with only a white line through it so I couldnt access the phone however I switched over to my Droid and now I cannot send or receive messages and I cant turn off imessage because I cant see anything on the screen.  Help?

Then the bottom of the support document states that if you do not have access to the device (which unfortunately because of the screen issue you do not) to contact Apple Care. That is what you need to do.

does anyone know how to get a white line across text like the USA basketball logo?

Draw the shape which is to be knocked out (a line in the example) in a layer above the logo. The colour doesn't matter because it will be made invisible.
Double-click in the space to the right of the layer's name in Layers panel to open its Layer Style window where advanced blending can be modified.
Set Fill Opacity to zero and Knockout to "Deep" or "Shallow" depending on whether the knockout should be limited to a containing Group.

Test pattern 2 has white horizontal lines on the black and gray blocks. The color blocks look fine.

  • PDF exports look terrible - white lines in text

I have been u sing indesign for years and years all of the sudden my pdf exports look terrible. The images are pixelated and the text has white lines
    in it.
I used these pdf previews for my clients and I certainly cant use what Im getting from INDD right now. I have no idea what happened to cuase this.
Wish I could show you but any ideas would be great.
The following text has no formatting on it yet there are pixelated white lines? help?
    Thanks in advance.

Wow - thank you for all the responses. Yes it still happened with different fonts, different sizes of font etc... So I looked at my export settings and noticed that it was set to High Quality Print - Modified. I Switched it back to High Quality Print and it appear to have cleaned it up quite a bit.
Thank you all for your speedy responses.

  • White lines around texts with object effects applied

I am having a persistent problem with InDesign's output of PDFs when I have applied object effects to text boxes.
When I use an effect—such as emboss (shown in samples) or outer glow—on a text box, the PDF renders it with white lines around the text boxes (sometimes with more than one).
See the attached samples; the boxes are clearly visible with a 3rd party PDF viewer, such as Skim; less so with Acrobat Pro, but still there. It's there when I open the PDF in Photoshop, as well.
I've tried playing with transparency flattening settings, and with merging the layers into a single layer. No help.
The sample shown has an emboss effect applied, transparency flattening set to high resolution (ignoring style overrides), and a single merged layer.
    Any help?
    In Acrobat Pro:
    In Photoshop:
    In Skim:

    Thanks so much, Bob.
My printer requires that I use the PDF/X-1a:2001 standard for PDF export, which means that it must be Acrobat 4 or later compatibility.
Also: I don't see how to NOT flatten, when exporting PDF for print; the options for flattening are "low resolution," "medium resolution," or "high resolution"—but there is not an option to NOT flatten. Do you know a work-around for this?

  • Cube Spin Transiton Shows Horizonal Blue and White Lines through out Poss BUG?

Don't know if this is a bug but I am seeing a 2 to 5 pixel Blue Line (the same colour as the CTI, CYAN) on the Cube Spin Transition when in use in Premiere Pro CC.
    I am on 8.0.1.
I also notice that it appears on the renders and exported material.
Original Sequences are HDV 50i 1440x1080 and abit of 1980 x 1080 @29.97 MP4 Files taken from a Sanyo XACTI Camera.
It is visable when both playing back and scrubbing or parking the CTI inbetween the 2 clips, I am also seeing a White Line not as think at times on the left side of the Transition.
It looks like the Enable Overscan Transition setting that I used to have in EDIUS, where the default settings where set for 3% Overscan and had to be set to 0% for Transitions.
I am using an ASUS 760GTX 4GB Card with MPE On.
Just wondering if there was a quick fix before I go though and have replace this transition with a similar one, though have used it 30+ times in this project so far, am gonna have alook out see if I can see a free Cube Spin/Advance Type Transition on the internet to use as I purposely chose this on
    as it fits in well.
anyway, I noticed this Line Appearing thoughout the editing process and thought that it was like Premiere Pro way of tell me that the transition had begun, like the show end of media indicator and not though that it would actually show in the final exports on the render, even on the downscale it shows when rendered to MPEG-2 DVD.
I saw another post on this on here but that dates back to CS 5.5.
I have attached a few grabs to show you. have to look very closely or download them as on whit background, but on the first there is a very thin white line and on the left of the frame and you will see the cyan line on the right a bit thicker
The First one is the very start of the transition, where the CTI hits the 1st Frame of the Transition
. Not on the left a Thin White Line and as Described on the Right the Cyan Slithly Thicker, Looks to be Same or Simialr Colour to The CTI.
Then as the transitions moves, though, the left white line disappears and you have the right Cyan Line Showing all through the transition, until it is completed.
As say, if there is a simple fix, then it would be appreciated so save having to alter all of the existing ones, as I say, kinda like the Cube Spin.

Appols if the attached images are too big, my fault, not used to posting images, anyways, if you click on each image to show full screen then you can see the lines better.
Anyway, anyone know a free one I can add in that works well?
    Thanks alot

  • White lines through my phone

My iphone4s was thrown on the floor and now the screen (not the glass screen itself) isn't cracked but the inside of the phone has blotches and white lines going through the screen which means I can't see the writing and so forth in my phone.. Does this need an apple store visit?

If there are no signs of abuse then they should determine it is a hardware fault and replace it free under warranty.

  • After printing a few good lines, the print fades or has white lines through it. Suggestion?

My HHP 1610 has been causing me problems for months.  I've replaced the cartridges a couple of times.  I sometimes don't use it for a week or two so have dabbed alcohol on the ink disbursing face of the cartridge to moisten it.  Neither the colour nor the black are working well today.  How do I know if I need a new printer?

    Try the troubleshooting steps here.
It is not good to manually wipe the nozzles, you can force air into the nozzle plate which can cause issues.  Also, alcohol should not be put on the nozzle plate, it can cause the plate to delaminate from the underlying electronics.  Alcohol can also dry out the capping station using the rubber to crack.

  • There are horizontal white lines through display picture, and some vertical blue lines. sometimes screen is all black, sometimes whited out, sometimes half white lines, half completely unvisible. white lines have spread from just a few on top

i just want to know if anyone has encountered this problem and if it is worth getting fixed/looked at. its an older nano so im thinking about just buying an itouch. any help is greatly appreciated!!

Hi, and welcome to Apple Discussions.
Problems like this can be caused by a cable pinched in the hinge. When you start seeing the display problems, does adjusting the angle of the display make a difference?
There is a known logic board fault in this model iBook which resulted in the iBook Logic Board Repair Extension Program. However, in my experience, if the logic board is involved with display anomalies, it causes the system to freeze up, necessitating a hard shutdown and waiting several hours for a restart. Another symptom of the logic board problem is if pressure on the case to the left of the trackpad on the left wrist rest improves the situation.
Based on my experience, it sounds more like a cable caught in the hinge, since you're not seeing system freezes. Let us know if adjusting the display's angle (a bit forward or a bit back) makes a difference.

  • White line (horizontal) through screen

    HI,
I have a student who has a white line through his screen (top to bottom) does anyone know if this is fixable. He says he stepped on his netbook. Fair enough.
I am aware it could be a small crack in the screen. But I am leaning towards a loose connection somewhere behind the screen possibly.
I feel that this will need to be insured through the system we have at this school.
But if any one has encountered this before? Usually if it is a cracked screen there are streaks through the display and you cannot see a thing. This is different.
Any thoughts or experince would be appreciated.

    Hi and welcome,
unfortunately ..  lcd-panel that delicate electronic will not obvious a big split,  due pressure that could be produce small pixel thin lines ...1 or 2 at first ...lines will get more and more after a not defined time...
to cure this ... change the lcd panel ...
but aware ...the cost , when change this in local service (sparepart & technician)  , could be near  the price for a new Ideapad ..
