WHITE LINES APPEARING ON PHOTOSHOP Cs6 LAYERS THAT PREVIOUSLY WERE NOT IN THE SAVE FILE -

I Keep having this reoccuring problem today - white lines keep appearing attatched to certain & all layers in photoshop files that I have, the only solution that seems to get rid of them is to put a mask on the layer and mask the line away, these are appearing on text, smart objects & rastersized layers. They were not there when I previously saved the file and they should not be there now, I then went to open another file I had and white lines started to appear on the files. This is really frustrating because some of the website documents have alot of layers. I have attatched an example below, they only appear to be 1 pixel and can range up to 2500pixels wide and they overlap making the line look thicker sometimes. Any advise would be great, Thanks.

Trevor,
I had been thinking about a display issue too, but upon re-reading the post, it sounded like the artifact was consistant on each Image (different place for each, but then always the same place for THAT Image). I was about to inquire about the video driver, but the location aspect prompted me to forget that possibility - still, I could well be wrong, and you could be correct.
We'll just to wait a bit, and see.
In a worst-case, the OP could send me a PM (Personal Message), and I can provide my POP address, to have them attach an offending PSD to an e-mail. I would be glad to test it on my systems, to see if something jumps out. However, as Csuebelle asked, having the file posted, for many to explore it, would be better than just one of us trying to track down the culprit.
I have encountered something similar, when I moved Layer Masks around in DVD Menus, and one was just a tad too small, revealing pixels that I intended to mask out - usually a DUH! moment for me, but easy to fix. Not sure if this is what we have, or something else? Often, what appears to be the same issue, looks like the same issue, is actually something totally different.

  • Problem with tiny white lines appearing in my work

    Hi all,
I'm very new to photoshop. I find that while I'm working this white noise (and also other times in the form of a bunch of tiny white lines) appears to cover most of my image. See to the right of the man's head as well as from his neck down on the orange background. It's manageable (though annoying and distracting) while working, but I got to thinking what if the finished file displays the lines as well? To test this, I saved it in a few file formats and I still see the lines. Also, this project, including the starting file, is from the adobe tutorial classroom in a book, if that helps. I'm hoping someone can help me! Thanks!

    Thanks for your help.

I haven't set any scratch discs. Should I set them up at this point?
The book is showing the same exact image without the lines.
The attached screen shots show each layer on its own - some show the white lines, some do not. None of the channels show the white lines. They appear often when working with masks.

White Lines appear on Images in Adobe Photoshop CS3
Recently discover that on three different computers, while editing images in Adobe Photoshop CS3, white lines would appear on some of the images.
For example changing a image from a .jpg to a .psd or size, or enchantment features, the white lines would appear on the image.
The lines did not appear on any of the printed images, any suggestions.
    Monitor: Sony Trintron Multiscan G4110
    Computer: Mac G5

    >The lines did not appear on any of the printed images,
Although it is odd that three computers exhibit the same problem, and unless you can provide other coincidences (same files, same monitor, etc.), I agree. The video card is typically the culprit IF the image anomalies don't print and if they move about with each image resizing or opening of a specific image. Check to see if it's properly seated and connected. Same for monitor cable. Try swapping in another card.
One other thought: as this is a CRT monitor, what happens if you change the resolution and refresh rate? Are you using a recommended combination for that monitor?

  • CS6 white line appearing to left of graphic

    Hello,
I have two issues with this website.
    1) To the left of the header graphic a white line appears, I can't account for it.  I've tried several things to compensate for it.  Nothing works.
    2) At the top left there is an undocked portion of the background, I can't account for this either.  Again, I have reviewed line by line and I have tried several fixes.  Nothing even touches it.  (In the event this information is useful, when in the developer side, I click on that line and get a flashing text type cursor. )
I have researched youtube and various forums also, looking for a fix or answer.  I am thinking this might be a bug.  Anyone have an answer? a fix?
I threw some pages up (still building the pages) so you can see what I am writing about.

Its part of your image - you have a thin white line running all the way around it:

  • White lines appear around placed images in printing.

A native Illustrator document with placed Photoshop (both CS6) images produces whites lines around the placed images when printed.  The Illustrator document does not show white lines on screen.  Nor does the PDF (Acrobat X Pro) generated from the IA doc show white lines when viewed on screen.  When the document goes to press, the printed product show the white lines:
See upper left image and lower right image-note: other images are not affected.  Both both are native Photoshop images, placed on a gradient in IA.  Perhaps the PDF settings: "Adobe PDF Preset" or "Standard" are not chosen correctly?  Why the white lines?

You screenshot shows a modified Illustrator Default preset with Compatability to Acrobat 4. That setting always flattens transparency which is what I would suggest avoiding first.
Note the Warnings summary alerts that transparency will be flattened.

    Yes

Discussion seems to indicate seeing 'stiching lines' on screen; sometimes in the designing application; or in the generated PDF.  My instances are visible only in printing-in two of the four images.
    1. Transparency.  Is this an automatic occurence in generating the PDF?  Can I turn it on/off? (The 'Save Adobe PDF' window that allows changes to: General, Compression, Marks & Bleeds,Output,, Advanced.....)
Transparency is part of some design and all Effects. Note that you can change a color by using a tint or by setting it's transparency. Many times a tint will suffice. It looks the same and has the same values.
Your original screenshot apears to use images with clipping paths. (Full disclosure - I should know this, but don't...I expect) clipping paths require/invoke the transparent background to place the images within the colored area.
You cannot get around transparency but flattening converts vector objects to raster objects (when transparency touches/abuts/interacts with raster images).
You should be able to use the Illustrator Default, High Quality Print or PDFX-4 to maintain live transparency

  • White line appearing at top of screen on SD and some HD

I've noticed a white line appearing atop my broadcast watching SD and some HD channels.
I know this line is part of the broadcast signal which is responsible for closed captioning or some other technical aspects. From what I've researched, a TV's overscan should crop out that part of the broadcast, unfortunately mine is not.
    Here's my set up:
Vizio VL320M 32" 1080P HDTV (receiving signal via HDMI from receiver)
Sony STR-DH700 Receiver  (receivers HDMI switch outputting signal to Vizio TV)
Motorola QIP6416-2 DVR STB (connected via HDMI to receiver HDMI switch)
I can crop out the white line by setting my Vizio to Zoom1 or Stretch, though this distorts the image and is a pain to reset for channels which do not experience this problem.
I can also adjust the TV's vertical posistion up a few to get rid of the line, BUT when I switch HDMI ports to goto my xbox 360, then switch back to the HDMI port my cable is on, it appears that the STB resets my signal position and the line comes back.
I haven't tried component, and really do not want to switch from HDMI to component as some sort of work around.
If anyone has any suggestion to resolve this problem, please post. Thanks for any suggestions.

I think I may have narrowed down the problem. I believe it's a handshake issue occurring between my Sony receiver and my TV, though I could be wrong. Maybe some of you A/V experts can see otherwise.
I've come to this conclusion because of the vertical setting being returned to its default position upon switching ports on my Sony's HDMI switch. Keep in mind my STB is connected to a port on my Receiver's HDMI switch and my receivers HDMI output is connected to my TV.
I can crop out the white broadcast line by simply adjusting the vertical position of my screen up of few pixels. HOWEVER, when I switch HDMI ports on my receiver, then come back to the port my STB is on, the vertical position resets itself to the default position, even though my TV's vertical setting never changed.
Here's another possible confirmation. If I press the menu button on my Vizio's remote, immediately upon the TV's menu appearing the vertical position goes to the position that's set in the TV. Strange, but that's what leads me to believe there's a conflict occurring somewhere between my receiver and TV.
I have confirmed this behavior does not occur when I connect my STB directly to my TV. I can switch my TV's HDMI ports and the vertical position holds.
I contacted Sony support, and they want me to take my receiver to a service center. I doubt that there's a problem with my receiver that can be fixed, so I'm just gonna use a workaround by activating my TV's menu so the handshake can complete after switching HDMI ports.
Since I have a universal remote that's capable of macro layering, it's just a matter of programming a layered macro to goto my STB port then activate the TV menu to initiate the vertical setting.  Maybe at some other point in time I'll lug my receiver in, though unless I'm positive it can be fixed, I really don't feel like pulling apart my home theatre and explaining this to techs if I'm not even sure it can be fixed.
If anyone else knows of a better workaround please feel free to post it. Thanks.

  • White lines appear on videos since my new Mac Pro - Why?

    Hello,
    I'm the happy owner of a Mac Pro 2,7 GHz 12-Core Intel Xeon E5 / 64 gig RAM / 2X AMD FirePro D700 6144 Mo running on OS X 10.9.3 (13D65).
I'm using CC latest version but also Red Giant Magic Bullet LOOKS to color grade my videos (on an adjustment layer). I have 3 HDD (1 SSD in the computer with the programs + 1 external (Thunderbold) G-RAID for cache files + 1 external Pegasus R6 2 (Thunderbolt 2) for the footage).
Sometimes, when reading (but more often when exporting in Media Encoder) white lines appear on the video (see image below). Why?
Is that a Premiere problem? Is something going wrong with my Mac? I have already reinstalled everything from scratch but the problem remains...
I was working with the same programs on my previous iMac and I didn't have this problem.
    Any idea ?

Is it an Adobe or a Mac Pro 2013 related problem? Does everyone using the GPU acceleration have the same problem?
So far, it appears to be an issue with OS X 10.9.2 and up.  Some folks that are beta testing 10.9.4 have reported that the strange artifacts no longer appear while using Hardware mode, but a few folks are still having Premiere crashes with it.  My suspicion is that we're seeing two separate problems with Premiere on the new Mac Pro when using Hardware mode: 1) artifacts, lines, etc on exports and 2) application crashes.  Neither of these appear to happen when Pr and AME are put into Software mode.  Given the commonality of the problems (using GPUs on the new Mac Pro) some folks seem to think they're directly related.  My gut tells me they aren't.
The challenge for the folks at Adobe and other third party app developers is that the boys (and girls) in Cupertino are changing things within OS X a bit too quickly, for better, for worse.  Some of these changes are what I call "ninja patches" where they don't really explain what they're changing or why.  I strongly suspect that's what's going on here.  They sneaked something into OS X 10.9.2 and haven't un-sneaked it yet.  Folks are strongly encouraging Adobe to address this issue pronto, but if Cupertino keeps altering the guts of the OS, how can they?

  • Why are white lines appearing in images in PDF files but not the original InDesign files?

    Hi folks!
Let me just start out by saying that I'm not a graphic designer and have basically no experience with graphic design programs, aside from the little futzing around I've tried to do with InDesign. My company (which publishes a monthly magazine) has decided that it would be a great idea to get the files to our magazine from the graphic design firm that actually handles the production end of things so that we may offer back articles, etc., and modify them as needed. Somehow I've gotten assigned the task of handling this. However, I've encountered some problems along the way. The graphic design firm uses Quark, we own InDesign (CS3) and use Markzware to convert the files. Most things seem to work okay in this arrangement but I'm having problems with the images in the file when I create PDFs. Although the images look fine in the InDesign files (and are of print quality), when I create PDFs of some files, thin white lines appear over the images in the PDF document. I asked our graphic designer about this but she has no idea, and she isn't very familiar with InDesign.
So, my question is, where are these lines coming from and how do I stop them from appearing? As a reminder, I'm not a graphic designer and am fdairly ignorant in design software terminology. If you're kind enough to try to help me with this problem, I'm going to require an explanation in plain English. Basically explain it to me like you would to a 10 year old.
If anyone can help, I'd greatly appreciate it!
    Thanks in advance,
    Lynn

I think Bob was typing too fast and meant to ask if you were distilling, not to tell you distill.
Distilled PDF (you get distilled by printing to PDF rather than exporting) always flattens transparency, which is what makes those white "stitching" lines.
You can make the stitching disappear on screen by turning off smoothing in the Acrobat prefs, and it shouldn't print on a press, but it sounds like you may be doing the output on a digital machine and it's likely to show on the lower resolution output.

  • White lines appear on OAM placed in InDesign

Hello. This is my first post in the forums.
I've just placed my first OAM file into an InDesign folio. The initial/downstage image views great in both Edge Animate and InDesign but once the folio is uploaded and viewed on a tablet device horizontal white lines appear. Has anyone experienced this behavior with OAM files and tablets? I've seen postings about white lines appearing in PDFs but not folios. Any ideas how to fix this issue?
    Thanks!

  • White lines appear in PDF

I have a user that is having white lines appear around different objects in PDFs when she attaches them into Mail. Anyone else having this problem or have a solution. I can't find anything searching it.

Clarify please: not only does the recipient see these white lines, but she also sees them as she composes the message and attaches the PDF?
Would it be possible for me to see an example of this? If so, my email address can be found by clicking on my name to the left of this post, and looking in the bio line of the resulting Profile. I have Acrobat 9, btw, as well as other apps to examine it with.

Thank you all. The dealer actually had exchanged with me another new phone and my current z3 is working fine. It was said that my previous one has defect and its rare.
