White lines in DVD

I am very frantic. I am in charge of teh rehearsal DVD for my daugther's wedding and I have run into the problem. Does anybody have any ideas? My iMovie looked great. I moved it into iDVD and burned it. When I play the iDVD, on any screen with a black background (imported cropped pictures, some black background title pages), I get these pulsating white lines on the left side of my screen. At times it seems to pulse with the music. Obviously, it is very distracting. Any suggestions.

Thank you for responding. When I put my burned DVD into my G4 computer and play it, the horizontal lines show up in the upper left side of the screen. This only happens on pictures that are cropped with a black background or on some (not all) black background title slides. Somebody said it might have something to do with me not making it a slideshow. It is a mixture of still pictures and video. The lines don't ever show up on the pictures, just in the black background. They are not static, but pulse on and off.

  • White lines on movie exported in DVD

ehi guys. I did just a nice movie with the suggestions of some members of this forum but at the end the quality of a 30minutes movie exported in DVD was not so much principally because of some white lines present in some pieces of the movie. These white lines are not clearly detectable, but still they disturb the vision. I guessed that this effect was  due to the low ram of my laptop (512MB). is that correct?

It sounds like it *could* be an interlacing issue, especially as it appears on the TV, and not the computer. Chances are that the computer's progressive scan masks this issue, while the TV's internaced display shows it.
Now, are all of the source Clips on the same Timeline the same? Were they all Captured via PE from a miniDV camera, over a Firewire connection, or are the from mixed sources? Having this problem come in during the play of the DVD indicates that it might be some of the source files, but not all of them.
More detail on the Clips would help. In the Project Panel, you can get the properties of each of your source Clips. Listing those would be a good start.
    Good luck,
    Hunt
    [Edit] Antonio,
If it is a Field Reversal interlacing issue, you might get some useful information from this current discussion.

I wish I had a 10.3.9 machine to check, but, since your video card should definitely be up to the task, I think it's probably going to be that Keynote's having a unique problem with your setup. In Keynote, under the Keynote menu, choose "Provide User Feedback" and send your problem to Apple. It could be that it may not have been reported yet.

  • White line at letterbox bottom

    Hi,
I am having a problem when authoring with Encore CS3 on an Intel Mac.
I have compressed a 16x9 SD movie in Sorenson Squeeze.  I bring it into Encore for authoring.
When I preveiw the disc before building, with the preview set to show 16x9 letterbox in a 4x3 frame, I see a thin white line at the bottom of the letterboxed image.  If I burn the disc, the white line is also there.  See attached jpg (levels adjusted for clarity
When looking at the asset in menus where the images is not letterboxed, there is no white line at the bottom of the image.
If I author the same material in DVD Studio Pro, I do not get this artifact.
    Any ideas?
    Thanks,
    Jef

Source was DV, edited in Avid MC, QT ref file to Sorenson Squeeze 4.5.7.
Settings in Sorenson were MPEG 2 Video, 2 Pass VBR, Max 7500 Avg 5800 Min 3700 kbps, NTSC 720 x 480,
Frame Rate 29.97 Pixel Aspect Ratio 16:9, Field Encolding Bottom Field First, I Frames 15 P Frames 3, Auto GOP off.
This is a slightly modified (aspect ratio) Squeeze preset setup which has worked with no issues in 2 other authoring programs.  I doubt it is the issue
    but could be wrong.
If it were and Encore is re-encoding, would it not say so in the Assets menu?  It does that when I do a Dolby AC3 encode
of a PCM track.  Encore shows no issues with the video asset.
    Thanks,
    Jef

  • White line on screen

White line at bottom of screen
Close up of part of it
About a month ago I noticed a white line across the bottom of my screen. Not exactly sure when it first appeared, as I have had a light coloured background and only saw it when i watched a DVD.
I have reset the PRAM, etc but it has had no effect.
It doesn't look like stuck pixels, as they aren't all completely white. Around the time of me noticing it, I hadn't taken my laptop out of my room for a while (I do occasionally take it home/work, and thought it might have been damaged in my bag or something).
I have apple care and hopefully they will be able to repair it under that, but any suggestions in the meantime woudl be much appreciated. (have to wait until the end of this month until i can get to an apple store).
It's not a major problem, just irritating!

hi, it looks like we're in the same boat!
Iv'e had my nano since october and 4 days ago I turned it on and white lines were staggered throughout the screen blocking most of the wording and song titles underneath. And I didn't drop it or anything! I suggest calling APPLE support. From what my friends told me, there was a recall on the nanos awhile back due to screen problems and they should replace it for you. I still need to call them myself.
    Good Luck with the problems!

  • WHITE LINES APPEARING ON PHOTOSHOP Cs6 LAYERS THAT PREVIOUSLY WERE NOT IN THE SAVE FILE -

I Keep having this reoccuring problem today - white lines keep appearing attatched to certain & all layers in photoshop files that I have, the only solution that seems to get rid of them is to put a mask on the layer and mask the line away, these are appearing on text, smart objects & rastersized layers. They were not there when I previously saved the file and they should not be there now, I then went to open another file I had and white lines started to appear on the files. This is really frustrating because some of the website documents have alot of layers. I have attatched an example below, they only appear to be 1 pixel and can range up to 2500pixels wide and they overlap making the line look thicker sometimes. Any advise would be great, Thanks.

    Trevor,
I had been thinking about a display issue too, but upon re-reading the post, it sounded like the artifact was consistant on each Image (different place for each, but then always the same place for THAT Image). I was about to inquire about the video driver, but the location aspect prompted me to forget that possibility - still, I could well be wrong, and you could be correct.
We'll just to wait a bit, and see.
In a worst-case, the OP could send me a PM (Personal Message), and I can provide my POP address, to have them attach an offending PSD to an e-mail. I would be glad to test it on my systems, to see if something jumps out. However, as Csuebelle asked, having the file posted, for many to explore it, would be better than just one of us trying to track down the culprit.
I have encountered something similar, when I moved Layer Masks around in DVD Menus, and one was just a tad too small, revealing pixels that I intended to mask out - usually a DUH! moment for me, but easy to fix. Not sure if this is what we have, or something else? Often, what appears to be the same issue, looks like the same issue, is actually something totally different.

  • Thin white lines on desktop background

After having my computer on for a while, one or two thin horizontal white lines will appear on the screen. They are around a few inches long, and never appear in the same place twice. They only affect my desktop background, not any windows or screen saver at all.
Reloading the desktop background or restarting the computer makes the lines go away, but I'm wondering what is causing them, and if it's a sign of some underlying problem.

    Insert your MacOSX DVD
    reboot while pressing ALT key
when icons appear on the screen select Apple Hardware Test and run extended test.
Perhaps a video memory problem. If yes motherboard is dead !

  • Thin white lines flashing

I'm in the process of testing stability of my overclocked AMD 4800. While the testting program is running, fine white lines flash across the window of that program, running down the vertical length then disappear at the bottom. A few minutes later, thin white lines flash again.
Is the mobo or video card or memory or CPU trying to tell me something?

Does your Overclock is stabile? tried to run the Prime 95 to test it also run Memtest for both RAM for the error checking!! Not sure about your GPU is the problem but the best way to do it is test your system WITHOUT overclock if it don't have the flash white line then it could be your system which has been overclock but not stabile yet. Gd luck.
    Thanks.
I ran Prime 95 and memtest at optimized defaults after burn-in and before overclocking. No flashing white lines. @217 x 12 (HT x 4) with T2 - AMD default - my computer is stable; I can play my game for hours without problems but white lines appear when I test stability afterwards.

  • Cube Spin Transiton Shows Horizonal Blue and White Lines through out Poss BUG?

Don't know if this is a bug but I am seeing a 2 to 5 pixel Blue Line (the same colour as the CTI, CYAN) on the Cube Spin Transition when in use in Premiere Pro CC.
    I am on 8.0.1.
I also notice that it appears on the renders and exported material.
Original Sequences are HDV 50i 1440x1080 and abit of 1980 x 1080 @29.97 MP4 Files taken from a Sanyo XACTI Camera.
It is visable when both playing back and scrubbing or parking the CTI inbetween the 2 clips, I am also seeing a White Line not as think at times on the left side of the Transition.
It looks like the Enable Overscan Transition setting that I used to have in EDIUS, where the default settings where set for 3% Overscan and had to be set to 0% for Transitions.
I am using an ASUS 760GTX 4GB Card with MPE On.
Just wondering if there was a quick fix before I go though and have replace this transition with a similar one, though have used it 30+ times in this project so far, am gonna have alook out see if I can see a free Cube Spin/Advance Type Transition on the internet to use as I purposely chose this on
    as it fits in well.
anyway, I noticed this Line Appearing thoughout the editing process and thought that it was like Premiere Pro way of tell me that the transition had begun, like the show end of media indicator and not though that it would actually show in the final exports on the render, even on the downscale it shows when rendered to MPEG-2 DVD.
I saw another post on this on here but that dates back to CS 5.5.
I have attached a few grabs to show you. have to look very closely or download them as on whit background, but on the first there is a very thin white line and on the left of the frame and you will see the cyan line on the right a bit thicker
The First one is the very start of the transition, where the CTI hits the 1st Frame of the Transition
. Not on the left a Thin White Line and as Described on the Right the Cyan Slithly Thicker, Looks to be Same or Simialr Colour to The CTI.
Then as the transitions moves, though, the left white line disappears and you have the right Cyan Line Showing all through the transition, until it is completed.
As say, if there is a simple fix, then it would be appreciated so save having to alter all of the existing ones, as I say, kinda like the Cube Spin.

Appols if the attached images are too big, my fault, not used to posting images, anyways, if you click on each image to show full screen then you can see the lines better.
Anyway, anyone know a free one I can add in that works well?
    Thanks alot

  • Fine white lines going across screen Horz.

I was working a iDVD project lastnight and left it working on it as I was sleeping. When I checked on it this morning my DVD had burnt fine. However I noticed that my display had 2 fine white lines going across the screen Horz. down about 2 inches from the top of the screen. I did a shutdown and then powered on again and the machine started up fine but the lines are still there.
Anyone have any suggestions on what I can try to trouble shoot this problem before I call Apple, the machine is still covered by AppleCare.

Vertical Lines on My iMac ;-( Doesn't look so pretty with them.
Apple has a service program for (now at least) earlier iMac G5's within a specific Serial # range. Here is a link to see if yours qualifies....
    http://www.apple.com/uk/support/exchange_repair/imac.html
Otherwise, I suggest a call into Apple and make a formal complaint and get a case #. Yours isn't an isolated case, if this particular issue is reported enough times then Apple would be foolish not to extend the service program to cover all iMacs that are faulty or defective.
Asking customers to pay for expensive repairs to faulty parts just a little time out of the standard warranty is not good for their business. They need to step up and sort this out.

  • White lines around figures

Captured ftg from DVD created from digi-beta from original 35mm film. Editing a 4 minute trailer but certain clips (30%) show short curved white lines around heads, figures, etc. Sort of like zebra but not? One clip has first frame with horizontal white lines top to bottom. Same clip shows up as green screen in QT file I made. Also a few freeze frames for a second or two. 70% of trailer is fine. Thought maybe the capture had wrong settings?

  • Vertical white lines along edges of still frames

I am using Premiere Elements 1.0 with Windows Vista in XP compatibility mode. I have inserted some still frames which are bitmaps with a black background. When I make a DVD the still frames have a vertical white line along one edge. Even when the bitmaps are resized so that they are bigger than the picture area the white lines remain. Does anybody know how I can get rid of the lines?

Try the flicker remover, right click on the clip and select Field Options/Flicker Removal - or something close to that ;) I hope that existed in version 1, don't remember for sure.
Sounds like your photos might be too large, are they much larger than 1000 x 750?

  • Trying to export M2V, getting an annoying white line down side...

Hey guys, looking been looking for solutions to this but to no avail...
Trying to compress a prores 1920x1080 422 hq clip into an m2v for burning. Problem is whenever I touch the frame controls, I seem to get a freaking annoying white line down the right hand side of my vid.
If I turn the frame controls off, it works, but I want them on because the image quality is far superior with it one.
    Here's the settings I had:
Another really annoying thing is that I did an experiment, I opened the prores in QT player, exported for web/computer/h264 and brought that into compressor, rendered it out. No white line. But H264 looks like utter crud.
Any ideas?? This is so infuriating. Thanks so much

A line (usually a green line) down the right side of a video usually means a size mismatch that the codec can't deal with. What is the final size the video shows, m2v?
Set Details Level to zero and turn off Active Details. Details Level and Anti-alias are used when up-sizing a video.
You may need to do the re-sizing before going to m2v. Resize using ProRes (4444 is an over kill) and use that to make your m2v. And use better as Russ has pointed out. The best setting will yield about 10% in quality over better. You will not see that 10% gain in quality in the final video. Especially since your going to m2v for the final video. When you use frame control to convert a video to m2v. Frame control has be read during each (2) pass adding to the time to the encoding. Personaly, if I need to use frame control to make a DVD (or h.264), I make a intermediate video... PreRes, and use that to make my DVD or h.264 video.
Lastly, if this doesn't fix the white line you may need to crop off 1 or 2 pixel lines (right or left) from the video. You won't see this in the final video.
I have had to do this.
Food for thought... If your making DVDs from 1080 video footage or having to resize the video regularly for DVDs or h.264 encoding. You can use the 'NEW JOB WITH TARGET OUT PUT' option in *Compressor. This will make a ProRes intermediate video with the size changes (you need set the new size). After that has be encoded it will automatically convert that ProRes video to m2v.
You can either do this at night (sleep time) or do something else while this is being executed.
Old video showing how to use this option. It will also tell you why you wouldn't want to use frame control when making an h.264 (m2v) video:
    http://pixelcorps.cachefly.net/macbreak-154-540p-h264.mov
*If your using Compressor 3.5... the second encoding (MPEG-2 in the above example) you will need to set the size in the geometry widow. Compressor 3.5 leaves this blank (a bug), this was fixed in Compressor 4.
