White Mails in Maverick

So far as I configured out is when I'm starting a conversation with the same subject the oldest mail of this conversation is not able to be opened. In Mail it is white without any letter in it. No Sender no subject no body - nothing.... It's no server problem, cause if I open the mail from the IMAP account in my iPhone - it is there with all the content and not white.... and all 2 or 3 hours mail crashes and is not clickable any longer...

Is there just nothing or is the a 'marker' where the photo should be?
Are the photos they send links to a web page of some sort and not a standard attachment, in Mail prefernences there is an option not to display remote images that can be set.
There more info you can provide may help someone recognised the problem.

  • Mail in Mavericks is a disaster for me.  Mail opens VERY slowly and cannot be deleted. I can move copies of messages to On My Mac but the original stays in the In Box. Scrolling works then it doesn't then it does. I tried every advice here; nothing helps.

I've read and tried all the solutions proffered to others about Mail in Mavericks and scrolling issues as well.  They either are not applicable (hard drive seems fine; is less than half full; permissions have been repaired; Disk Utility finds no hard drive issues) or don't work (rebuilding, removing envelope files and re-importing, removing various preference files).
I have about 200,000 emails in four In Boxes.  Prior to Mavericks this was not a problem.  I have tried to remove them in case that helps but when I move them to a new folder in "On My Mac" the new folder is (very slowly) created but the original messages stay in the In Box as well.  I went through one box and deleted over 52,000 messages -- or so I thought.  When I closed mail later, I got a message saying the messages could not be moved to trash.  They are in the In Box now.
Maybe the problem is not Mavericks, but it started when I upgraded, and except for scrolling, which has been problematic elsewhere as well but no where more than in Mail, everything but Mail seems to be working ok.
Are other people having problems to this extent?  I can wait a little while for a fix but I get over 2,000 emails a day (yes, a lot of spam) and I don't think I can go on in perpetuity without the ability to delete messages.  I've used Apple Mail since its inception and would prefer to keep it but may be forced out.

Please read this whole message before doing anything.
This procedure is a test, not a solution. Don’t be disappointed when you find that nothing has changed after you complete it.
    Step 1
The purpose of this step is to determine whether the problem is localized to your user account.
Enable guest logins* and log in as Guest. Don't use the Safari-only “Guest User” login created by “Find My Mac.”
While logged in as Guest, you won’t have access to any of your personal files or settings. Applications will behave as if you were running them for the first time. Don’t be alarmed by this; it’s normal. If you need any passwords or other personal data in order to complete the test, memorize, print, or write them down before you begin.
While logged in as Guest, launch Mail and set up one of your IMAP accounts. Same problem?
After testing, log out of the guest account and, in your own account, disable it if you wish. Any files you created in the guest account will be deleted automatically when you log out of it.
*Note: If you’ve activated “Find My Mac” or FileVault, then you can’t enable the Guest account. The “Guest User” login created by “Find My Mac” is not the same. Create a new account in which to test, and delete it, including its home folder, after testing.
    Step 2
The purpose of this step is to determine whether the problem is caused by third-party system modifications that load automatically at startup or login, by a peripheral device, by a font conflict, or by corruption of the file system or of certain system caches.
Disconnect all wired peripherals except those needed for the test, and remove all aftermarket expansion cards, if applicable. Start up in safe mode and log in to the account with the problem. You must hold down the shift key twice: once when you boot, and again when you log in.
Note: If FileVault is enabled, or if a firmware password is set, or if the boot volume is a software RAID, you can’t do this. Ask for further instructions.
Safe mode is much slower to boot and run than normal, with limited graphics performance, and some things won’t work at all, including sound output and Wi-Fi on certain models. The next normal boot may also be somewhat slow.
The login screen appears even if you usually log in automatically. You must know your login password in order to log in. If you’ve forgotten the password, you will need to reset it before you begin.
Test while in safe mode. Same problem?
After testing, reboot as usual (i.e., not in safe mode) and verify that you still have the problem. Post the results of steps 1 and 2.

  • Unstable Mail post Mavericks upgrade:

After upgrade to Mavericks (v10.9.1) Mail (v7.1) on my iMac has become unstable, freezing at the drop of a hat, requiring frequent forced quit to wrestle back control. Tried to instal the available Mail Update for Mavericks, promising increased stability, in an attempt to solve the problem but the installer says all my storage options, including the SSD Macintosh HD 'do not meet the requirements for this update'.
Is this a known problem between Mail and Mavericks and does anyone have an idea how to fix?
    thanks

Has anybody figured this out? I too really really regret "upgrading" to Mavericks.  My most used programs are all fubar'd: Mail, Numbers, Pages
At least it seems you can access your email.  Mine often freezes causes a force quit (even that doesn't always work) and then when I click on the mail icon, no window appears, only the tiny little (tool?) bar at the top.  I am still looking for my boxes, especially inbox and compose box.  Aarrgh!

  • Mail in Mavericks not replacing existing mail with same name

Mail in Mavericks not replacing existing mail with same name.
    Thanks

I have the same situation as you - sending out pdfs of designed pages and wanting to overwrite them continually. It used to happen on an older version of Mail, then it disappeared and now it's back with the latest version.
It's more than annoying, it's downright driving me nuts. In the last hour I had to quit Mail seven times.
Please send a fix for this Apple.

  • Gmail no longer pushes new messages to Apple Mail in Mavericks

I Googled [gmail push Mavericks OR 10.9 "use idle command"], and restricted results to the last year; absolutely nothing came up, so I decided to post this:
Gmail seems to no longer push email to Apple Mail in Mavericks—at least for me.
In OS 10.8 and before, enabling "Use IDLE command if the server supports it" caused Gmail to instantly push new emails to Apple Mail.  No longer.
With the new "Check for new messages Automatically" option, new messages aren't coming in at all, or with severe delays (I don't recall which).  When I change it to "Check for new messages Every minute," it checks every minute, which is okay, but not what I had in previous OSs: instant pushing of new messages.
Has anyone managed to solve this problem?
Or does anyone at least know what's causing the problem, and whether it's potentially fixable?

Nevermind. I am blind as a bat. I found the answer. There's an option under VIEWING in the preferences for Display unread messages with boldl font. I don't know why that is unchecked.

  • Cannot add Gmail to Apple Mail in Mavericks

I cannot add Gmail to Apple Mail in Mavericks.  I have tried adding it as a Google account AND as an "other" account.  I have tried manually filling in the settings, using the instructions from Gmail's website:
Incoming Mail (IMAP) Server - Requires SSL
    imap.gmail.com
    Port: 993
    Requires SSL:Yes
Outgoing Mail (SMTP) Server - Requires TLS
    smtp.gmail.com
    Port: 465 or 587
    Requires SSL: Yes
    Requires authentication: Yes
Use same settings as incoming mail server
I have tried with both part 465 and prt 587 for the outgoing mail server.  Still, it tells me, "There was a problem setting up the account."

Go to Mail->Preferences->Accounts and create an account

  • Mail in Mavericks question

In Mail using Mavericks when new emails come in I always have to scroll up to see them whereas say in Thunderbird they are just simply there to see. Is there a way of adjustimng anything in order to see new emails in my inbox without always having to scroll up?

Lots of people reading this but no ideas as yet. Just to be clear the issue is that when new emails come into Mail App (I'm using Mavericks) whether the Mail App is open or on the dock and it shows new email/emails I always have to scroll up in order to see them. Whereas in say, Mozilla Thunderbird,  new emails just show in the inbox without you doing anything whether the App is open or, in the dock as soon as you open it there they are. Is it possible to fix this or is it just another poor feature of the Mvericks Mail App? I would really like help to resolve this as it makes using the Mail App unnecessarily time consuming.

  • I cannot set up mail in mavericks

I've just taken delivery of new MBPro. I have migrated all data from my previous MBPro, but Mail, though it has all my Smart folders, will not accept my existing accounts: iCloud and Exchange.

I spent a couple of hours with phone tech support yesterday, resetting, repairing permissions, going into library and removing mail related folders, going into terminal (sorry I can't remember the commands I typed) but nothing worked.
This evening, I got an email notification of your comment above and linked to the thread and noticed the "re: Mail in Mavericks" thread in the "More Like This" panel to the right of this window and followed rootch's steps and it worked! my iCloud and exchange accounts appeared in mail automatically. Other POP accounts, I had to configure manually, referring to settings in Mail on my previous MBP. Try it, I hope it works for you!

I find Mail under Mavericks to be weird. Are others having this same/similar difficulty? "Upgraded" to Mavericks last week, after updating the firmware to my WD external HD.

    "Weird" needs further explanation.
Google's highly nonstandard IMAP implementation is weird, if you're using Gmail, though Apple bent over backwards to accomodate it. Other than that, what do you mean by "weird"?

  • Gmail folders disappearing in Mac Mail under Mavericks

    Hello,
We use gmail for our small charity as an email client and mac mail to sync it between all devices.
It has been working well under Mountain Lion.
I have just upgraded to Mavericks and under 'Inbox' a whole series of folders I previously used to catalogue and sort my email have now disappeared. I cannot find where they are or the email that was in them and nicely sorted.
All Mail is showing - have picked this up from other threads.
Why didn't my previously logged folders come over with the upgrade? Can they be found and enabled? If not, how to do go back to Mountain Lion?
