  • White noise in the background of the video (iPhone5)

Hi, guys please check my 30 sec. video test from iPhone 5:
    http://www.youtube.com/watch?feature=player_embedded&v=uVNgQEEin6c
White noise in the background like "shhhhh", it's kind of loud, isn't it? Do you have something like that?

    Anyone?

  • Why do my speakers make a loud hissing/white noise when the aux cable is plugged in at the same time my thunderbolt to dvi adapter/cable is plugged in?

I have tried this with headphones and speakers and the result is the same. I have tried this with multiple displays, multiple thunderbolt to dvi adapters, and multiple dvi cables. Does anyone know if there is a way to fix this? Thank you in advance!

What's on the other end of the Aux cable

  • How do I get rid of the white noise that plays over my music?

    Hey.
I got 5 CDs today and I wanted to upload them onto my iTunes to put on my iPod. But when I put in 4 of the CDs I got white noise over the top of the music making it unlistenable. But the 5th album(Double CD) worked perfectly fine. I know the problem isn't the CDs because I played them through my PS3 and they were absolutly fine. If anyone can help. Its greatly appreciated.
    Thank you.

Go to Edit > Preferences > General > Import Settings and check the box for error correction, and then try one of the problem CDs again.

  • Why is the video audio white noise when I share my project since I updated to 10.0.9

On the movies I created before I updated to 10.0.9, the audio prortion of the video is now white noise. The audio is fine when played back in FCP, but when i share the project it is white noise. When I burn it to BluRay the audio is gone all together. Even when I make a master file to my desktop, it still happens. The music I added to my project is fine. It just the audio that is part of the video clips that is affected. I've turned off the EQ's and Compressors I was using and I even tried moving the audio to the center channel instead of mono. No luck. Need some help. I can't figure this out.

I'm encountering the same problem as the original poster.  In my case, I'm using FCP 10.1 (running on OS 10.9.1).  My source file is DV video imported via FireWire from a DV camcorder.  The clip's audio is fine when playing inside of Final Cut Pro 10.1, but when I share the project the audio track is just white noise.  My share settings are to Apple 720p devices (the subseqent dialog boxes indicate the software has figured out it's really 640x480 video).
Here's what the QuickTime Inspector says about the source file:
    Format:
    DV/DVCPRO - NTSC, 720 x 480 (640 x 480)
Linear PCM, 16-bit little-endian signed integer, 48004.6 Hz, Mono
Linear PCM, 16-bit little-endian signed integer, 48004.6 Hz, Mono
    FPS:  29.97
    Data Size:  5.87 GB
    Data Rate:  30.30 Mbit/s
    Current Size:  640-480 (actual)
I tried changing from "faster encode" to "better quality", but it made no difference.
The rather dated version of Compressor I have (v3.5.3) was able to encode the clip to H.264 640x480 and the results are fine.  However, it took way longer than FCP 10.1 (I think it's too old to be taking advantage of the GPU).

  • Media Encoder CS5.5  Audio being converted into white noise

I have recently started getting an intermittent problem where some video files are being encoded to FLV with the picture looking fine, but the sound coming out as white noise.
The file used for the encoding looks and sound fine in every other app i have. I have been using the same preset within ME to create all the files for our website, for years!.It should be stereo 96kbps MPEG 3  but all i get is static.
The source videos are all edited , mixed and output the same way too.
The files being sent to Encoder are on Mac 10.6.5, and were created in Final Cut Pro using the Prores422 codec, with audio as Linear PCM 16bit/48khz
I have just rebooted the mac, installed the latest CS5.5 upgrades, repaired permissions, but still the problem persists.
    Can anyone suggest a solution?

seems i did answer this myself last year!
i need to re-ecode the source material in a format other than 10bit uncompressed for Encoder to be happy with it. I thought the file was already Prores - must be an older file thats causing the trouble.

  • TV white noise after starting from standby

    Hi,
Recently I have installed ShowShifter. It's a great program and very stable. Everything works as it should from excellent TV picture and sound, recording, showshifting, playback, etc  . Except one thing is not working correctly: the recording from standby  .
When I schedule a recording and put the machine into standby it will start the recording as planned. When I then later play the recording the picture is ok, but there is a lot of white noise. Also when I select TV I get white noise. After a restart the TV programs are ok, but the recording has still the white noise.
I did some testing and found out that when you go into standby and come back that always the white noise is present in the TV programs.
The following drivers are installed: 4.31 NVidia Audio drivers and the latest beta TV Tuner drivers.
Does anyone has the same problem? Did you find a solution?

Sorry, I think I wasn't clear in this respect  . Yes, white noise in sound.
I have found out that the MSI MS-8606 Video Capture Driver 4.102.11 from 15042004 (the new beta driver) is the one that is not working correctly. When you disable it and then enable it again then the white noise IN SOUND is gone and the tv sound is back.
I have reinstalled the older driver from 082003. That one doesn't has the 'standby' problem, but gives me a grappy picture  . So that's a no go.
What could happen to this beta driver during 'standby' after using ShowShifter that it is not working correct anymore  ?
    Regards,
    Rene

  • HOW TO TURN OFF NAP TO ELIMINATE WHITE NOISE?

RE: HOW TO TURN OFF NAP TO ELIMINATE WHITE NOISE
Ive discovered that when ever I attempt to record audio in Logic pro 8 I get a constant white noise in the back ground. I've seen proevious posts regarding this and have downloaded the xcode developer tools but cant find the right path to locate the "nap disbale" option. I'm using  a mac pro intel 10.6.8 [snow leopard] please advice as I am going out of my mind!!...thanks

There is a forum devoted to Logic Pro you might want to ask there.

  • Logic 9 busting into white noise while recording!!

Well the title says almost all of it! I've been using Logic 8 happily for ...since it came out.....and I used Logic 9 successfully yesterday when just doing vocals over a backing track but today I tried my first full band recording in Logic 9 and at random places while in record, the audio just totally turns into deafening white noise! The Hard drive meter is showing massive peaks and logic shows a "too slow" error. The songs has a few virtual amplifiers in it (amplitube) but nothing lethal and I've loaded the exact same song (saved from logic 9) into logic 8 and it's working flawlessly so for now at least I'm reverting to using Logic 8 :-(((
Oh well, I guess Logic 9 will be awesome when it's finished :-)) Any suggestions of things I can try or will this be a 9.01 situation?
    Many Thanks for any help,
    Gareth

    Hi Ya,
    Combo update , yes
    ProKit 5, yes,
    Restart, yes,
    Repair permissions, I'll try that
and as for using it professionally...that's the only way I do use it!!
Someone has to find the bugs for Apple to fix them.
As for contacting our host, not exactly. I've been a happy logic user (and basically still am I should add) since Notator days but now that the tech support phone numbers have been long since discarded (Sound technology in the UK, bless them) I have no idea how to report a bug or a problem to Apple. I can get someone in Ireland to tell me where to take a broken mac back to, but support for pro software, I have no idea who to get hold of.Does anyone here know of a Tech support contact email?

  • More random stabs of white noise

    Dear Logic users,
This is a continuation of the archived thread at http://discussions.apple.com/thread.jspa?messageID=6286440&#6286440 After recording a band intensively for over a week, I have experienced the "savage stabs of white noise" described in the thread, but only on rare occasions. I have some extra info though, as there appears to be two conditions of these noise-fests:
    1) A short, intense white noise that occurs seemingly random (although in my experience, it has always been towards the end of a recording) during playback (note: not during recording, everything sounds fine then). This is clearly written to file, because if you zoom in closely, you can see a square-like waveform. This portion of the audio can be removed, and the rest plays back fine.
    2) A whole take plays back nothing but ear-deafening white noise. The waveforms look normal. Upon muting the track, it is confirmed that it is only this particular take that is affected. The only thing to do is to delete the take, and record again.
Clearly, this behaviour is unacceptable. As others have commented, this is a major mood-killer, and something that is actually quite scary. Since it happens so rarely, it is not easy to troubleshoot. I'm writing this with the hope that someone has found a remedy. Since it happened to people with different interfaces (I own a RME FireFace 400 myself), this appears to be an Apple/Core Audio/Logic issue. Any input will be greatly appreciated.

I don't have any new light to shed, other than to confirm I have had this happen enough for it to be a REAL concern.
It doesn't happen a lot, but when it does, it can be a huge problem. When I'm working alone, it has been merely an annoyance, but 1 month ago it happened with 6 singers out in the studio. Blistering levels of white noise pumping through all of their headphones, as we listened back to a phrase they just punched in. Nice...
A Logic user friend and colleague seems to think there is something perhaps in the way we're hitting record, repeat, delete... some combination of key commands that causes this. I suppose that's indeed a possibility, although neither of us has been able to pinpoint what that is, exactly.
For the record, even though I use my Lavry 4496's as my inputs, I've been getting them to Logic via the SPIDF input on my RME FF800. I know you said it's a problem that is occurring with various interfaces... just thought I'd document that mine is also an RME... just in case that's a contributing factor here.
I really hope Apple gets to the root of this. It is probably the one single thing that can derail any hopes they have of Logic surviving in a pro audio environment.

  • Keep hearing white noise when a flash video is playing

Whenever a flash video is playing (ie. Youtube) then I will hear white noise in the foreground and barely hear the original audio in the background. This also happens with facebook notifications and other flash sounds. I have checked my sound card and drivers and also switched the sound card over to see if this solves the problem but it seems to just be linked with Firefox at the moment

hello, maybe it's an issue with the protected mode in the flash plugin - you could try if [https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/kb/flash-113-crashes#w_solution-2-downgrade-to-flash-10-3 downgrading to flash 10.3] (which is still supported) or [http://forums.adobe.com/thread/1018071#TemporaryWorkaround disabling protected mode] makes a difference.

  • Unexpected Burst of white noise

When I boot up the macbook Pro, or use any application that requires Audio, I get an annoying burst of white noise from the right hand speaker. It lasts anything from 5 secs (boot up) to 30 secs (Entourage or similar) Strange thing is that if I plug in headphones or speakers to the headphone output, this noise doesn't happen. can anyone give any clues about this please?

Plugging in headphones mutes the internal speaker. Sounds like there is a fault somewhere in the audio circuitry possibly the DAC. Most likely it would only be resovled with a motherboard replacement.

  • Internal Microphone White Noise

I have a Satellite E45-B4200 laptop and it has served me well for the last 4 months with no issue. Unfortunately it has one FATAL design flaw. If I plug in my Sony headphones into the headphone jack it RUINS the internal Micophone. This happened before and it made the mic record everything and enything and echo it back at me. I resolved it... dont remember how and here we are again. This time when I record my voice on such programs as skype it has an intense white noise ethat completely covers up my voice and requires a strong yelling just to get the message through. Please help. I will provide as much detail as needed to resolve this.

It makes two of us. This issue is driving me crazy! I tried:updating the driversrestoring default mic settingenable/disable echo, noise cancellationtry different mic quality setting (sampling rates) Nothing seems to work. The internal microphone makes this anoying white noise all the time. I can't use Skype nor Cortana without pluging in a headset, which definetively kills the purpose. If I can't find a solution to this, my next replacement won't be a Toshiba laptop, that's for sure.

  • IPod Video 5G 80 gig - White noise

I have an iPod Video 80 gig and I notice that their is always a background white noise (hiss). I start a music and press pause for this test.
When I close the volume I can hear a clip when the volume is close. As soon I increase the volume I hear a white noise (hiss) and it keep the same level until I get to the 3/4 of the volume then it's start to make the white noise louder and also I can here some clipping that is comming from the wheel until I get to max volume.
    Clicker sound : OFF
    EQ : OFF
    Sound Check : OFF
The problem I got with this white noise is when I listen to calm music I always here the white noise (hiss) like I am listen to a tape cassette.
I was hearing this with my Sony MDR-EX70 but I just purchase the Ultimate Ears Super.Fi 5 Pro (white) and these headphone are so clear compared to my Sony that now I hear the white noise even more !
So I would like to know if this a poor SN ratio noise of the iPod built-in amplification or it is just my iPod and my friend iPod too ?
It would be interesting if a couple of people could try the test and see if they got the same background white noise.
    - Start a music
    - Pause
    - Close the volume (should hear a click a the close position)
    - Increase volume (should start to hear the white noise (hiss)
    - Increase the volume to max and at about the 3/4 of the volume up to the max volume you should hear some clipping noise from the wheel sensors and the white noise should also increase in level up to the max volume.
If all iPod are doing this then Apple should redesign the amplification to increase the Signal to noise ratio better than what it is right now.
I would like to have some feedback on this from the people who gonna make this test.
    Thanks

Also when I plug it in my stereo system I can hear the clip when I close the volume.
The white noise is their also but I cannot hear it at the listening distance from my speaker. But if i'm right whe you plug the iPod on the dock we are not using the internal amplifier of the iPod but just the output signal.
I have a Class A amplifier in the living room so to ear some white noise from the speaker I need to bring my ear 2 inches away from the tweeter.
On the iPod the amplifier could be a Class D with alot of white noise.

  • Live performance white noise

I just started using Garageband to record vocals and percussion; there is white noise on the playback. I'm using the built-in microphone on my ibook. Should I filter, or adjust the volume during recording? When I turn the volume down, the recording level seems too low.
    Thanks.

If you're on a budget the Logitech USB mic works well and you won't need other devices like the Griffin to get the mic to work. If you can spring a little bit more, then the Samson C01U is the best way to go. You'll also get much better results with the Samson for micing drums and other instruments. Here's a link for the Samson:

The Logitech USB can be found in most stores, even Wal-Mart. Hope that helps
