White preview panel

My Adobe Premiere Elements 10 program was working fine a few months ago.  Now I get a white preview panel while the sound goes on.  If I click on the panel, I get a picture, but the action stops.  If I click the start button, the sound continues, but the picture stays frozen or reverts to a white panel.  Online support people are throwing any old solution at it, and not staying on the line long enough to find out that nothing is solving the problem.  Perhaps related:  Two screens now pop up when I open the program.  The first says an incompatible display driver was detected, and suggests I get the one I already have.  I even reinstalled it, but the messages continue.  I also get a screen asking where various of my files are.  Clicking past both of them opens the program--but with the white preview panel.  There is yet another possibility:  In December, I backed up the current version of my film onto a disc, being careful to NOT save the changes.  Have I messed up things so badly that I need to delete everything and start over with the saved disc version?

The "white display," is almost always caused by an obsolete, or corrupted video driver.
What make and model of video card/chip do you have?
What is the number and date of the installed video driver?
Do not trust the OS, or any utility to tell you, if you have the very latest driver version. You need to go to either the mfgr's. Web site, or in the case of Dell, HP, and others, the computer mfgr's. Web site, to download and install the latest driver.
Good luck,
Hunt

  • Bridge CS6 - Preview Panel Zoom level

    Greetings-
In using Adobe Bridge CS6 (w/latest updates as of 06/13/2014), when previewing video files, the preview panel will automatically zoom into the video. I've tried resetting the preferences (Holding down control while starting), resetting the workspaces - this has not worked.
I saw in another thread where the author mentioned a "zoom toolbar" but this only refers to the thumbnail panel - NOT the preview panel.

    I'm running Bridge CS6 64bit
I'm sorry, am a Mac user and rarely use movies. Although a .MOV file shows without problems in my preview window. And your screenshot only shows part of the workspace, maybe try again with the whole screen and the preview window  filled with zoom?
Try another workspace and even try to reset preferences again, sometimes it needs more then once to solve a problem. And Windows is very critical for the use of correct graphic card drivers but that is out my league I'm afraid.

  • Empty Preview Panel in Bridge

I've opened Bridge and selected a thumbnail in the content browser, but no image appears in the preview panel. I'm assuming it's because my processor is less than the recommended ones (Pentium 4, etc. - I get a message that Bridge may perform poorly when opening Bridge). However, I thought I'd check here just in case there may be another reason. Would the processor be the most likely culprit or is there something else I should check? My processor is an AMD Athlon XP 1.67 GHZ.
    Thanks...

What works for some of us is to click "restore down" icon (upper right middle one). If your window is in maximize mode the preview is there, just buried under dozens of layers, but have to pull back window pane border to see it.

  • Preview panel loses Color Management after Minimize Bridge CS5

Whenever I minimize the Bridge CS5 application window to the Windows taskbar, upon restoring or maximizing the Bridge application window the image(s) currently showing in the Preview panel no longer appear color managed (they look exactly as they would appear from a non-color-managed app.)  In order to see them as color managed again, I have to either de/re-select their thumbnails or double click the Preview panel twice (once to minimize it, and once again to restore it.)  Otherwise resizing the Preview panel has no impact on the color.  The thumbnails in the Content panel are fine.  This did NOT occur in CS4 or earlier versions of Bridge - otherwise the same environment.
I have a wide-gamut monitor, which causes many non-color-managed images to look super saturated, especially reds & greens, so it is probably much easier to notice this behavior in this environment than from a typical-gamut monitor.
Windows 7, x64, ATI Radeon HD 4850 graphics card, Bridge v4.0.3.9
    Anyone else notice this annoyance?

    Thanks Curt,
I doubt this is a video issue as no other versions of Bridge behave this way on this system.  I have the same preference settings in Bridge CS5 as for Bridge CS4 - which works fine.  Nor does Photoshop exhibit this behavior post-minimizing, & Photoshop behaves perfectly for all the OpenGL Drawing settings (which I have set to Advanced in PS.)  Bridge just seems to poorly manage the Preview panel color post-minimizing the application window, but otherwise everything displays fine during operation.  I'd be surprised if it was just me but if it is, it's an easy enough annoyance to work around.  I'd imagine that this isn't too observable on a normal-gamut monitor.
I tried your suggestion of  "use software rendering", just in case, but it made no difference.  Appreciate the idea though...
    One more observation:
While thumbnails are being generated for the first time on large images, they also have the non-color-managed appearance until they complete their generating, at which time they take the managed appearance - but I just consider that a processing-timing final step & it hasn't changed behavior from previous versions of Bridge.

  • Problem with Preview panel in Bridge CS3

    Hello,
I've got a problem and I don't seem to get rid of it.
When I use the Adobe Bridge, everything seemds to work fine, EXCEPT... for the preview panel.
It just keeps on showing a 'blank gap' or blank window, from where I can see a part of my Desktop through.
I hope this picture makes it more clear.
    http://i36.photobucket.com/albums/e39/Stef_r/2009-02-08_000747.png
Als, when I select a photo in Bridge, it doesn't show up in the preview panel. It just keeps on showing the freezed picture of the part of my desktop.
I use Windows Vista on my laptop now, and that's were the problem is.
On my old XP laptop, with much lower performance, it worked fine under Windows XP.
    http://i36.photobucket.com/albums/e39/Stef_r/2009-02-08_000843.png
Does anyone recognise this problem or has a solution for it?
I have allready tried reinstalling both my laptop with Vista as wel reinstalling the Adobe suite.
    Thanks for the responce!
    With kind regards,
    Stefan

    Thanks for the replies!
Although I still haven't found the real problem for it, the preview panel keeps on freezing, I do have a wokaround found for it.
Because I have a docking station for my laptop, with some free slots in it, I bought a second hand Video Card with 512MB and better performance than the on-board card in the laptop.
I hooked up a external LCD monitor to it and now it works just fine, with no additional modifications in Bridge.
So, although the Bridge / video card still occurs on the laptop, I don't mind working this way.
Maybe a newer driver in the future will solve this problem.
    Kind regards,
    Stefan

  • Problem viewing via Preview Panel (.ai Vector Files)

    Hi
I am having trouble viewing vector files via the Preview Panel. The problem is that the thumbnails are not taking up the whole window like they usually do.
I make sure I save my Illustrator files with "Create PDF Compatible Files" checked, as this usually solves this type of issue.  It seems to be Mac specific as my colleague can view the same files, located in the same location across our server without a problem on his PC and our Preferences are set the same. I am still having this issue, even if I copy the files to my desktop.
I have taken a screenshot to show the problem (attached or at the location below).

  • HTML Preview panel - How To

    Hi,
Now i am trying to develop a HTML preview panel in my HTML editor.
for the simple html documents I am giving to the editorpane by using setText() function it's working properly.
but if copy some html source from a website and set the source using setText(), it's not working..not even single text or image is displaying.
    DOnt know the problem.
What I want to do is. a browser component by which i can display some HTMl content.
    Pls help me.

I've already tried that and it doesn't work. In fact clicking inside the document window will deselect any of the found (grey hi-lighted) text.
Now, if I click and drag any of the text in the document, then it will be hi-lighted yellow as specified in the Appearance settings. But it will not be yellow when it is found as part of a search and the thing that's most frustrating is that older versions of Preview (or OS X) had this feature. I can't understand why Apple would do away with it in favor of light grey!

  • Preview panel is not showing PNG

    Hi there,
I am totally baffled by this! It is like the preview panel is completely ignoring the fact that I have added a PNG file to the timeline.
I have done exactly this before on a Mac and now on Windows 8.1/Dell and it is not working. The image file is correct - as you can see in the source panel - but I also used the exact same file on a Mac and it works.
Thank you so much for any help you can give. The project is on a complete hold at the moment.
    Lydia

Does the png have the same height and width as the sequence?
Does not look that way 16000x9000 that's way too big.
(the text is now somewhere in the basement )
Right click on the png in the timeline and set scale to fit.

  • Preview panel not working

Can't view video in preview panel in Premiere Elements 9

    Finley
    Could you give more details?
What computer operating system is your Premiere Elements 9 running on? Are you working from the 9.0.1 Update of the program?
    What are you doing
    a. Double clicking the thumbnail in project media, getting the Preview Window with a blank screen
    b. Double clicking the file on the Timeline, getting the Preview Window with a blank screen
    c. Other
What are the properties of your source media on the Timeline and was is your project preset?
Is this a "it worked before but not now" or "it never worked before" issue?
If you open a new project, do you have the same problem? Is the problem confined to one particular file or to any Timeline content that you try to view in the Preview Window?
Although you are having these problems in the Preview Windows, are you having any problems playing back your Timeline content in the Edit Mode monitor? Are you getting any display card error messages or any error messages at all associated with this problem?
Please check out the above and then we will move forward with the troubleshooting based on your answers.
Please do not hesitate to ask if you need clarification on anything that I have written.
    Thanks.

  • Why do I see in the preview panel black edge on sides of imported jpegs into premiere CS5

We sized a jpeg in photoshop to 720 x 524 to import into premiere project frame size 720 x 480.  Proportions all look good, but there is a black edge on each side of the jpeg in the preview panel.  Will this show up when viewed on a tv screen once we create the dvd?  On my preview tv screen, it looks like it will not show up, but I do not want to do this whole project that includes 50 jpegs and then have a problem?  any good answers or things I should change.
    Thank you

    > I would have thought 540 myself to get a square pixel equivalent of 4:3 aspect ratio using 720 horizontal lines.
720x540 was the square-pixel equivalent before the correction that considers the difference between clean aperture and production aperture. In CS4 and later, it's 720x534.
There's a table of the square-pixel equivalents here. There are also presets in Photoshop that match this.

  • AE 2014.2 crash when switching preview panel with Matrox

I newly bought a pc with Matrox M9138 card, and using it for professional use. All works fine, except for Adobe After Effects CC 2014.2: it simply crashes when switching between the Preview-panel and Render-Cue panel.
When I look in AE preferences under Video-preview > Mercury transmit doesn't even show that there is a Matrox-card. The only option there is Adobe DV. So, I guess AE doesn't find and even makes use of my Matrox card.
    Technical info:
    Windows Version: 8.1
Processor: Intel Core i7-4790 CPU, 3.6 GHz
    RAM: 16GB
    Type: 64bits
    Matrox M9138 LP PCIex16
    Driver version 2.4.3.2 (4.4.3.2) for Win 8-64bit
    Adobe CC After effects 2014.2
After Efects error: "Crash in progress. Last logged message was: <816><ae.blitpipe><2> Making New Context"
First I installed the Matrox driver, and then Adobe CC, but After effects crashed when switching between preview-panel and render-cue-panel (No Matrox recognition in AE preferences > Mercury transmit)
Now I did it in other order:
    - I removed Adobe CC (AE included) and all parts
    - Did extra checkup removal with Adobe CC cleaner
    - Removed the Matrox driver
    - Restarted PC
    - Reinstalled Adobe CC with AE
    - Reinstalled Matrox Driver
    - Restarted PC
    - matrox fully installed and working perfectly (no errors in Display Adapters info).
But still, After effects crashed (Still no Matrox recognition in AE preferences > Mercury transmit)
I contacted Matrox technical support, and as I suspected, they say they haven't had this problem before and all works fine.
    Typical...
Does someone has an idea what the problem would be?
Help or info would be very appreciated.

    Solution:
My graphics card did not supported the "Mercury Playback Engine GPU Acceleration (Open CL)". You can change it into "Mercury Playback Engine Software Only" in your Project Settings.
But this is in the wrong place in my opinion. Why not in "Edit/Preferences"? I could've changed it by myself but I did not find the menu.
Thanks Michaela from the Adobe Support Chat!

  • Where is the multiscreen preview panel in Dreamweaver CC?

Where is the multiscreen preview panel in Dreamweaver CC?

Hi Harshit, thats only for Dreamweaver upto CS6. I can't believe it theyve removed if for CC, just had it confirmed by Adobe that its 'not accessible anymore'
Really bad idea in my opinion we work on responsive sites all day and it really helped to quickly get an idea for the integrity of the design on phone, tablet and desktop at the average screen sizes. Now there is no way to see all 3 at the same time. C'mon Adobe what are you doing??????

  • Preview panel in Premiere Elements 10 stopped working

    Hi
The preview panel on Adobe Premiere Elements 10 has stopped working.
It was working fine until a couiple of weeks ago. I'd created a film and rendered it OK but after watching decided to do a little more editing.
When I opened up the project the preview panel was just grey/blank. I move the cursor over a piece of film and just got like a snap shot.
I can hear the soundtrack but no picture.
I have tried a few suggestions from various sources as follows.
I've updated the video/display drivers (directly from the manufacturers website)
I've updated Windows for all the latest updates.
I've updated all the video players and codecs I could find on my PC.
    I've updated Java.
I've done a cleanup and defrag but there is about 650 gb of freespace.
I've deleted the Bad Drivers file on a few occasions, this did give me a stuttering playback in the preview panel briefly but that has stopped again.
If I open a different window over the top of Premiere, part of that image stays in the preview panel when I close or minimise that window.
The video files I have been using have been mostly AVCHD files but these have worked fine for the last 18 months when I first installed this program.
I've tried converting files to AVI, MPEG, MPEG2, WMV etc but still nothing in the preview panel.
Totally stuck now, I've been trying to find a solution now for over a week and need to do some more editing.
I liked this program as an editor up until now but it maybe time to look for an alternative if I can't get a solution.
Kind regards and thanks in advance for any other suggestions

That was good news that you have Premiere Elements 10 and Intel video card and not NVIDIA. To date, a certain display issue has been specific to the Premiere Elements 10 user whose computer uses a NVIDIA video card.
I think it best if you started your own thread on your display issue since your details can take us in an assortment of directions depending on the details.
We need to determine that your Mobile Intel 945 Express Chipset Family display card driver is up to date.
That information might be obtained from the following Intel web site
    https://downloadcenter.intel.com/SearchResult.aspx?lang=eng&ProductFamily=Graphics&Product Line=Laptop+graphics+drivers&ProductProduct=Mobile+Intel%C2%AE+945GM+Express+Chipset+Famil y
    or
This information might be obtained from the HP web site.
    2. If you determine that your video card driver is up to date, then you can try deleting the Premiere Elements 10 BadDrivers.txt file. Once you have deleted it and opened a new project, the BadDrivers.txt file will be replaced with a new one. For that we would need to know what computer operating system your computer is running on so that we can give you the correct path to the BadDrivers.txt file.
It is important that at the onset you do a mini test run export to determine if what you are seeing as display problem in Edit is reflected in your export.
We will be watching for further developments. Details are important. If you have problems finding the details, we will help you with that.
    Thanks.
