White rectangles covering most of website content a few seconds after it loads?

I saw a similar issue listed except they had an option to click a [x] on these rectangles. For me they have nothing clickable, no border, just white rectangles of varying size that can't be removed. They appear a few seconds after the bulk of a page and its text appears, often allowing me to read most of 1 sentence before it becomes impossible to read anymore because of white rectangles in the way.

You can try to disable hardware acceleration in Firefox (you need to close and restart Firefox).
*Tools > Options > Advanced > General > Browsing: "Use hardware acceleration when available"
*https://support.mozilla.org/kb/Troubleshooting+extensions+and+themes
Start Firefox in <u>[[Safe Mode|Safe Mode]]</u> to check if one of the extensions (Firefox/Tools > Add-ons > Extensions) or if hardware acceleration is causing the problem (switch to the DEFAULT theme: Firefox/Tools > Add-ons > Appearance).
*Do NOT click the Reset button on the Safe Mode start window.

  • Safari on iPhone 4 doesn't render web sites correctly, white rectangle hides most of web site view

    I started having a problem with Safari on the second day of using my iPhone.
    Since today, Safari will not render any web site correctly anymore, there is always a white rectangle hiding most of the web site view, web site browsing is now impossible, only a small area on the top and right remains visible.
    How can this be fixed ?

    Well, try restarting your phone, if that doesn't help, restore it with iTunes.

  • Ac-adapter plugged, white led on side lights up, pc boots few seconds then stops working

    Hi after plugging in the ac-adapter the white led on the side lights up, pushing the start button boots the laptop but just for a few seconds and it stops working totally. Removing the battery doesn't change a thing. I can detect a light burning smell. Doesn't look promising.... Warranty is no longer available. Wondering what repair could cost.

    Please identify your notebook/pc .
    Look at the base/rear/side of the notebook/pc at the barcoded sticker.
    Post items numbered 1 and 2 on the following example of an HP notebook's barcodedimage. Your barcode may be slightly different but will still have the important imformation needed for us to help you.
    ###Do not post the serial number as it is personal information.###
    Post the installed operating system version ( and whether it is 32 or 64-bit ) and whether the CPU is an AMD or Intel product
    Not posting all of the information as requested will delay our responses and slow troubleshooting of the issue that led you to author a thread.
    Is your notebook/PC still within its warranty period?
    BTW..DC powers the notebook and charges the battery. The external power adapter changes AC into DC.

  • T520: White screen a few seconds after logging into Windows

    Starting yesterday, when I log into my computer 10-15 seconds after loading the desktop the screen goes completely white and is unresponsive. The only thing that makes it go away (sometimes) is ctrl-alt-del and telling the system to log off. As soon as it starts to try to log off and asks me if I want to force close certain programs I have to cancel the whole log off, otherwise I'll just end up logging in and the whole process starts over again. I've noticed that it seems as though a slideshow of my desktop background starts up and then just crashes, because occasionally that image appears before the white screen of doom.
    Any ideas?
    My specs:
    Windows 7 Home Premium x64-bit
    Intel i7-2760QM @ 2.40Ghz
    8 GB RAM

    There are malware programs that cause those symptoms. (like Trojan Reveton) First, I would download an offline virus scanner. I tend to use Microsoft offline defender, because it tends to work and it's free. You will need to download the ISO and burn a disk. You need to download either the 32-bit version, or, more likely, the 64-bit version, depending on your OS.  You then boot from the disk you created and run the long scan.

  • What do I do if Firefox crashes a few secs after trying to load any animated material, be it ads at the side of Cheezburger websites, YouTube videos, or Hulu?

    I just bought a new HP Pavilion 23 inch All-In-One desktop, the one without a modem on the side because everything stands straight up. I'm usually technically literate and can figure most things out easily. This, however, dumbfounds me because I have to think and know exactly how something does what, and I cannot come up with an answer at all. Anyway I downloaded Flash a couple more times to try to fix this problem, but it hasn't gone away. What it does, is, whenever I want to watch [or don't want to watch, in some side-of-website-video-ads] the Firefox tab with the animation will be very sensitive, and the slightest click to any website, such as the next Cheezburger Website page, or just the fact that a video is loading on YouTube or on Hulu will cause Adobe Flash Player to crash within a few milliseconds. It does let you hear the first 5 seconds or so of the video before it stops [a few seconds after Adobe's unresponsiveness, I might add] due to Adobe not responding and therefore crashing. In most cases where the video does make it crash, the majority of the time either the video's picture won't load before it crashes, or, even if a picture does attempt to load, it's just a dark forest green color instead of the video's picture on YouTube. If I'm just looking at non-moving pictures and small GIFs, such as the funnies at Cheezburger websites or the funnies at Explosm.net, it doesn't crash on me. The majority of the videos I watch are Anime related. I don't want to have to use Google Chrome, since I trust Firefox to catch ads from popping up, which is very nice, but I might have to if this is not resolved.

    Is anyone here to help?

  • Mac Pro freezes few minutes after starting download of additional content

    Hello everyone!
    So... I've downloaded Logic Pro X from the App Store today. Install and download of basic content went smoothly, but problem occured when I started download of additional content. Few minutes after download had been started, whole computer would just freeze, and I would have to shut it down by holding the power button. I tried downloading just small packs of content but it didn't help every time, in 80% cases it would freeze again.
    Logic was never installed on this machine earlier, at least not after clean Mavericks install few weeks ago.
    What could be the cause to this problem, and can any of you help me?
    Thanks in advance.

  • Keep getting a pop up at the top of many websites I visit 'firefox security error content at *web address* may not load" I am using the most recent firefox and windows 7.

    Keep getting a pop up at the top of many websites I visit 'firefox security error content at *web address* may not load" I am using the most recent firefox and windows 7. This is happening at many sites, such as hotmail, google reader, and many others.

    Sorry, I don't think that is a message from inside Firefox, the wording doesn't sound correct - at least the beginning of that message. My "gut" thinks that is a MSN Live message to explain and compensate for their lack of security with a re-direct from a secure domain to an un-secure domain. ''(the end of that message)''
    {Ctrl + Shft + J} will open the Firefox Error Console - I'm curious what Firefox has to say about that situation. If you find the error message for that domain, you can right-click the message to '''copy''' it and then paste that error message here.
    Maybe '''TonyE''' or '''cor-el''' will be more familiar with the situation at Live and maybe at Google Reader, I don't use either of those services and have never seen a message like that myself.

  • Strange white rectangle on the desktop

    Only just started doing this, but when Bridge is running, there's a white rectangle on the desktop, which goes away when Bridge (CS3) is quit. This happening to anyone else??

    It definitely does matter. Like I mentioned earlier, when you have a fixed width of 1,000px for your content container, your 100% width setting for your outer container will be ignored - which means priority is given to 1,000px thereby rendering the whitespace to the right as your background is again a 128px square image. One solution I can think of is to make your background image 1x1px square that you can repeat. See if this makes any difference.'
    My site, the autoscroller - I didn't use any plug-in as such. I simply used scrollTop from jQuery API and changed the settings to match . You can read about it here: http://api.jquery.com/scrollTop/
    Here's my actual function that I'm calling when a menu button is pressed to scroll the div ID associated with it to scroll to Top of the screen. Again, this works for me, as my menu is fixed to the top, unlike your site where each site has a menu bar.
    $('ul#menu li a').click(function(){
                   var id = $(this).attr("href");
                   $('html,body').animate({scrollTop: $("div"+id).offset().top},'slow');
         return false;
    $('a#link').click(function(){
                   var id = $(this).attr("href");
                   $('html,body').animate({scrollTop: $("div"+id).offset().top},'slow');
         return false;

  • Is using 4 white rectangles really the best way to crop something in Ai?

    I'm sure someone here has used this technique before.
    (And in InDesign as well)...
    You are drawing a new image and there is extra color or
    drawn detail that extends past the border(s)... but because Ai does not
    have a "crop" tool for the document "canvas" or the vector frames themselves, you draw four opaque white (same color as the document white) rectangles and move them onto each side of the image (up to it's border).
    Then, you fuse or flatten those four rectangles somehow.
    My questions are:
    1) If this the proper technique, is Pathfinder the right tool?
    2) If it is not the proper technique for cropping, what is? Is there a way similar to how Ps crops? It seems that the crop tool in Ai is geared towards the printing process only.

    I find that using a clipping mask for a drawing (making a mask on the top layer then masking everything) moves everything to the top layer, which is not useful for art that may get edited further later. Clipping just the objects that extend past the border, on its layer (Kurt and Ray) is something I hadn't thought of; it would preserve most of your art on the desired layers.
    I tend to use white boxes on the edges of my maps if the art doesn't extend too far beyond the borders. But clipping masks do make a neater graphic (the 0,0 of the art pops up right at the edge of the InDesign/Quark picture box, which designers appreciate). FreeHand generally remembers layers for objects once you unmask them, so I mask more in FreeHand than AI.
    On a related point - when I bring in old FreeHand art to Illustrator CS4, type on paths gets positioned badly. Usually the handles on the baseline just get shifted so one word disappears, but recently I've been finding the left and right handles are stacked right on top of each other. It's necessary (once I get the handles to APPEAR) to select the TOP of the handle to shift the pair of handles to the right, then I can grab at the BOTTOM of the pair of handles to slide the left-hand handle so the type appears and I can position it.
    The problem I run into is that certain of these steps require the white cursor, and certain steps require the black cursor, and there's no way to use the black cursor on a MASKED drawing without selecting all of it (whereas in FreeHand you can switch cursors on a subselected object in a group or mask, and edit its handles, move the type along the baseline, etc). So several times the only way to grab the offending type is to unmask the art, adjust the text, then re-mask. I may be doing something wrong, however it's quite possible it's just another Adobeism I'm going to have to work around.

  • White rectangle in placed PDF

    Hi all,
    When I view this PDF in Adobe Acrobat 9.3.0 (Windows), I see no problem. When I open the PDF in Photoshop, a white rectangle next to the white square at the bottom left corner appears. Anyone familiar with this phenomenon? Any idea what's wrong here (problem in the PDF itself or problem in Photoshop trying to to open the PDF correctly)? The problem does not only occur when you use the "Open" command, but also when you "Place" the PDF in Photoshop.
    Thanks in advance.

  • White Rectangle Box on Captured Videos

    Has anyone suffered from the same problem? When I try to record a video clip from a video cassette (VCR) onto my computer, there is a "huge" rectangular white box covering the middle of the video clip on the playback. One of my friends who also has a MSI G4 card had the same problem. I've tried using a few different programs and a few different encodings, but none seem to fix the problem. Can anyone give me an advice? PLEASE!

    Nayre,
    I have that same problem sometimes. I have figured out the shape of mine is iTunes. The way I can make the box go away is to open iTunes again and close it right away. The box usually only appears when I have iTunes open for a long period of time.
    Try figuring out what window is shaped like your box.
