White screen, again and again

Hello everybody !
A friend of mine lent me his MacBook Pro A1286 because he always has a white screen at startup.
Actually, the computer starts with the wellknown sound, the the logo appears, with the circle.
After a few time, the screen switches to white.
I tried the option +R to have the boot menu. I saw Mac HD, Windows, Recovery HD and Install DVD.
No problem, I tried every of them. Except Windows, at any time I see the logo and the circle, and then it switches to white.
So I even can't use the DVD for tools or install again !
Tried the option + S for single mode user and it works. I even modified with fdisk for the default partition to be Mac HD, but with no luck.
Tried the verbose startup, but I don't have time to see. After making a photo, it seems to telle there's an error trying to open /var/db/BootCache.playlist
There's also an SMCInitHelper error (fall back to old SMC mode)
And finally an ntfs-fs warning with BOOTCAMP (v 3.1)
Tried after that to reset SMC, the different RAMs, but still no luck !
Even tried to start a Linux live from usb key but no luck (because of irEFIt I think)
I expect that's not an hardware problem. Screen, keyboard, pad, usb, HDD seems to run fine.
Has anyone any idea ?

I have a MacBook Air. I have got a software update notification couple of days ago. I've clicked on it today, and it started installing updates.
But, I have got a notification telling that not all updates were installed successfully, then I have clicked on "Restart" from the notification box. Then my Mac restarted and the white screen with Apple logo and the update progress appeared (like what always happens during updates).
The problem that while the update progress reached around half the way, my Mac shutdown. I tried many times to turn it on, it turns and the same white screen appears and the update starts again and shuts down.
Please Help me!

You did not state whether you installed the update while on battery (not mains) power. You are warned not to apply certain updates without being connected to a charger & mains power.
Also remove any attached peripherals.
Reboot in Repair mode (command-R at start) and use Disk Tools-Disk Utility-Disk First AId to repair your disk, and as long as you're there repair permissions. Next quit Disk Tools and reinstall the OS. After completing that successfully reboot, log in and do a combo update.
You must have more than enough (not just enough) empty (free) disk space for the update.

Why does my 3GS have a white screen sometimes, and I have to lock the screen for it to go back to lock screen? Sometimes I have to attempt the lock screen several times, and it still doesn't work. I, then, attempt to restart it by powering it down, and the lock screen will appear again. The display goes out sometimes while I am on a call, and I can't hang up. I have to go through this hole process over and over again.

The Basic Troubleshooting Steps are:

- Also try DFU mode after try recovery mode

- If not successful and you can't fully turn the iOS device fully off, let the battery fully drain. After charging for an least an hour try the above again.
- Try on another computer
- If still not successful that usually indicates a hardware problem and an appointment at the Genius Bar of an Apple store is in order.

My MacBook was acting weird so I restarted it and when I login a white screen flashes and goes back to the login page. Help?

My MacBook was acting weird like sometimes I would log on and I wouldn't be able to type my password for a couple seconds,but it usually logged in after that. Then I left my computer open after installing the recent update after that all my applications were not responding. So I shut it down, when I turned it back on about an hour later it went to this loading screen and then to the login like usual. After I tried logging in a white screen flashed and it went back to the login/ password screen like nothing happened. Any ideas on what happened and what I can do to fix it?

if you're using an flvplayback component, you need to use fp 8 or better. or, use the netstream class with fp 7.

The iPod crashing when editing a photo is a known bug in iOS 5.1.1.
For the other problem.
Try the following:
- A reset. Nothing is lost
Reset iPod touch: Hold down the On/Off button and the Home button at the same time for at
least ten seconds, until the Apple logo appears.
- Restore from backup
- Restore to factory settings/new iPod.
If you still have the problem that indicates a hardware problem and an appointment at the Genius Bar of an Apple store is in order

White screen again

Has anybody found a cure for the white screen problem? I had it happen some time ago, All cures given here did not work. Then came the latest Pro App Support update - this cured it miraculously.
Now it's back again with the difference that the screen (both viewer and canvas) stays white, even when it is supposed to be playing.
Again I tried all the cures mentioned in this forum, nothing helps. I've spent hours.
As a hint, it appeared whilst rendering audio in background. Nothing else was going on on the Mac at the time

I believe I found the solution. It turns out it's a software problem stemming from a corrupt file in either the 'Final Cut Pro User Data' or 'Final Cut Pro User Settings' folders.
Initially I tried a number of things based on the advice of this forum and others but nothing worked. When I created a new user account and then opened a FCP project in that new user, problem solved. That result led me to believe that it wasn't a hardware problem, but a software problem and one that most likely stemmed from either a corrupt plist, cache, or some other file that contains user settings.
Anyway, to rectify the problem first make sure FCP isn't open. Then, navigate to User->Library->Preferences. From there, locate the two folders I listed above and move them to the trash, desktop, or anywhere outside that location, really. Restart FCP (in some situations you may need to log out or restart as well) and the problem should be solved. You will, of course, have put some of your settings back the way you like them. It's better than a full reinstall of the FC Suite.

Try restoring your iPOd, first from backup and if problem persists restore to factory defaults/new iPod.

There are no more user troubleshooting steps available. Make an appointment at any Apple store. Sounds like a hardware failure, & if so you will be offered an out of warranty exchange. Cost is US $149.

Blackberry 8520 curve hangs, suddenly white screen comes and the only solution is to re-insert battery with power source on?

My Blackberry 8520 curve suddenly hangs giving a white screen and when i restart it - the screen remains white. After i put it into charge - then only a successful start is done. So the only solution as of now i have - is whenever my blackberry hangs - i need to remove the battery - insert it again - and immediately put it into charging via USB/Electric-Power. Even if i re-insert the battery - the white screen comes - unless and until i put it into charging Earlier i was guessing - my battery was weak - but no such problem. pls advise.

I tried it and i realize it might not work because my home button stop working

It is possible that your security software (firewall, anti-virus) blocks or restricts Firefox or the plugin-container process without informing you, #p#ly after detecting changes (update) to the Firefox program.
Remove all rules for Firefox and the plugin-container from the permissions list in the firewall and let your firewall ask again for permission to get full unrestricted access to internet for Firefox and the plugin-container process and the updater process.

White screen prob and beyond!!!!

I have an Iphone 3G and I dont really know what happened. one day it just had a white screen and is not recognised by my computer. however I do get the beep from the computer to tell me that it has connected.
what I have tried:
1. i was going to restore it but its not recognized so cant do that
2. tried to reset it with home and power buttons. all it does is give me the apple screen and then back to the white screen and off.
3. tried a hard reset where i hold the home, power and up volume buttons. i get the same result as a normal reset.
4. I have been told that the white screen is caused by internal hardware becoming disconnected. my warranty is up so i opened my iPhone and checked and everything is connected.

Are you using any accessories with the iPhone? If you are, try testing without them.
Also, try restoring the iPhone from recovery mode. This article: http://support.apple.com/kb/ht1808 will walk you through the process.
