If you use extensions (Tools > Add-ons > Extensions) like <i>Adblock Plus</i> or <i>NoScript</i> or <i>Flash Block</i> that can block content then make sure that such extensions aren't blocking content.
Start Firefox in <u>[[Safe Mode|Safe Mode]]</u> to check if one of the extensions (Firefox/Tools > Add-ons > Extensions) or if hardware acceleration is causing the problem (switch to the DEFAULT theme: Firefox/Tools > Add-ons > Appearance).

*disable a possible RealPlayer Browser Record Plugin extension for Firefox and update the RealPlayer if installed
*disable protected mode in Flash 11.3 and later

  • White screen in win7 login

hi, i have this problem which probably is related to the power manager.
Only when i activate the function to start charging the battery after a predetermined percentage, i turn on the laptop and the windows login screen becomes very bright to the point you see mostly white with some blue of the windows login background on the corners of the screen. Also, sometimes i'm using the computer with ac power plugged in and it acts randomly as if i had disconnected the power... lowering the screen brightness for some seconds and then going back to normal... Today, i experienced a sudden shutdown which i wondered could be related to this... can anyone help with this?
edit: just saw the threads with the same problem put in other words... but there doesn't seem to be a definitive solution... the question that i still have is are all of these problems caused by power manager?

    hey mcfly2309,
could you provide the MTM of your unit as well as the power manager version.
i would like to check if yours is at the latest version.

  • [Solved] White screen when user switching, but only the *second* time?

I finally got around to adding another user to my arch installation.
    Here's what happens --
    User A is logged in
User A selects logout, then "switch user" --> GDM login screen comes up *properly*.
User B does whatever, selects logout, then logout (I haven't tried yet with switch user for this step, can't imagine it being any better)
Logout occurs, but instead of GDM it's a white screen.
Entering login credentials blindly does return to original session of User A, however.
This is Arch 64, Nvidia driver, GNOME, compiz fusion...

It appears that some update in the past few days fixed this problem.  Yay!
However, I really hate having to bow to the "it fixed itself" fairy, so if anyone knows any way I may have been likely to fix it by accident (I am sort of continuously messing around with things, but nothing that I'd think would impact this), I'd still be interested to hear it.

  • White screen instead of blank black screen sreensaver...

I just want to use a blank black screensaver, but when I do I have a white screen instead.  The same also happens when I lock the screen, a white screen and a login box.  I'm using the newest gnome (2.24-3), nvidia driver, and compiz-fusion.  The opengl screensavers work fine.  I can't find anyone else when this problem so far.  I have searched quite a bit, but maybe I'm still not searching for the right thing.

  • Stuck on White Screen on Thunderbolt Display Update - Lion

Anyone else have this problem? After the Thunderbolt display update, I get a white screen at the login after I restart my MacBook Pro. I either have to unplug my laptop so I can see the screen again to login, or I can hit enter and then blindly put in my password while he screen is blank and then it will pop back up again. It's annoying.
I didn't have this problem running Snow Leopard and I reset the PRAM and SMC already. This is also a clean install of Lion.

I've actually just posted a similar post on the Thunderbolt thread. Is there anyway to rollback the firmware? This is so frutrating to have to wait so long before actually getting to the login screen.
If the Thunderbold display is unplugged then the MacBook has no problems and instantly goes into the login screen - on the other hand having the Thunderbolt display connected to the MacBook - same as you describe - Power on Macbook - white screen for about 1-3 minutes before the Apple logo appears and proceeds to the login screen
Hope someone can read and sort thins out soon.

  • When I login to second user account I get a blank white screen.

Just updated to 10.8.3, was also having issues that seemed to be related to Spotlight and TM backups. Issues on my main user account seem to have been resolved, but I have not reactivated Spotlight or TM yet.
When I try to login to my wife's user account, it just hangs on a white screen. I've tried repairing user permissions, and also resetting PRAM and NVRAM. Disk verify checks out fine.

    Library/Fonts:
[A hole bunch, removed to shorten post...]
Does the problem account also have a lot of fonts in the home folder? That could be the reason for a login failure. Otherwise see below.
Please read this whole message carefully, especially the warnings, before doing anything.
    1. The changes to your configuration suggested here should be considered provisional; they may not solve your problem, or they may remove functionality that you find useful. If a third-party system modification that you want to keep is causing the problem, seek help from its developer.
    2. WARNING: Back up all data now if you haven’t already done so. Before proceeding, you must be sure you can restore your system to its present state, even if it becomes unbootable. If you’re not sure you can do that, STOP — DON’T CHANGE ANYTHING. If you’re dissatisfied with the results of the procedure suggested below, restore from your backup. I will not be responsible for the consequences, and I will not be able to help, if you ignore this warning.
    3. You should either remove or update the following system modification(s), if an update is available from the developer:
    N/A
and definitely remove at least the following:
    Logitech Control Center
    † PeerGuardian
    Hotspot Shield
    † Conduit
    4. Whatever you remove must be removed completely, and (unless otherwise specified in this message) the only way to do that is to use the uninstallation tool, if any, provided by the third-party developers, or to follow their instructions. If the software has been incompletely removed, you may have to re-download or even reinstall it in order to finish the job. I can't be more specific, because I don't install such things myself. Please do your own research.
Here are some general guidelines to get you started. Suppose you want to remove something called “BrickYourMac.” First, consult the product's Help menu, if there is one, for instructions. Finding none there, look on the developer's website, say www.brickyourmac.com. (That may not be the actual name of the site; if necessary, search the web for the product name.) If you don’t find anything on the website or in your search, contact the developer. While you're waiting for a response, download BrickYourMac.dmg and open it. There may be an application in there such as “Uninstall BrickYourMac.” If not, open “BrickYourMac.pkg” and look for an Uninstall button.
Again, please don't ask me to do this research for you. You can do it better than I can, because I haven't installed the product and I may not even know what it is.
If you can’t remove software in any other way, you’ll have to erase your boot volume and perform a clean reinstallation of OS X. Never install any third-party software unless you're sure you know how to uninstall it; otherwise you may create problems that are very hard to solve.
WARNING: Trying to remove complex system modifications by hunting for files by name often will not work and may make the problem worse. The same goes for "utilities" that purport to remove software.
    5. I recommend that you never reinstall the modifications marked with a dagger (†) above, if any. If your problem is resolved after uninstalling all the above modifications and rebooting, but you still want to use some of those not marked with a dagger, you can experiment with putting them back, one at a time, testing carefully after each step. Keep in mind that system modifications may be incompatible with each other or with future OS X updates, so it may not be clear which one is at fault.
    6. If you still have problems after making the suggested changes and rebooting, post again. Remember: if you don’t like the results of this procedure, you can undo it by restoring from the last backup you made before you started.
You installed the Conduit spyware. To remove it, back up all data, then follow the instructions on this page:
    Help Center | Community Toolbar
If those instructions don't work, proceed as follows.
Triple-click the line below to select it:
    ~/Library/Application Support/Conduit
Copy the selected text to the Clipboard (command-C). From the Finder menu bar, select
    Go ▹ Go to Folder…
Paste into the box that opens (command-V), then press return. A Finder window should open with a folder named "Conduit" selected. If it does, delete the selected item.
    Repeat with this line:
    /Applications/Toolbars
Now you're deleting a folder named "Toolbars". You may be prompted for your login password. Next, copy this line:
    /Library
Select Go to Folder… again and paste. Don't delete the Library folder. Delete only the following items inside it, if they exist.
    Application Support/Conduit
    InputManagers/CTLoader
    LaunchAgents/com.conduit.loader.agent.plist
    ScriptingAdditions/ct_scripting.osax
Close the Finder windows you opened. Log out and log back in.

  • My MacBook was acting weird so I restarted it and when I login a white screen flashes and goes back to the login page. Help?

My MacBook was acting weird like sometimes I would log on and I wouldn't be able to type my password for a couple seconds, but it usually logged in after that. Then I left my computer open after installing the recent update after that all my applications were not responding. So I shut it down, when I turned it back on about an hour later it went to this loading screen and then to the login like usual. After I tried logging in a white screen flashed and it went back to the login/ password screen like nothing happened. Any ideas on what happened and what I can do to fix it?

    Reinstall OS X;
Reinstalling Lion/Mountain Lion Without Erasing the Drive
Boot to the Recovery HD: Restart the computer and after the chime press and hold down the COMMAND and R keys until the menu screen appears. Alternatively, restart the computer and after the chime press and hold down the OPTION key until the boot manager screen appears. Select the Recovery HD and click on the downward pointing arrow button.
Repair the Hard Drive and Permissions: Upon startup select Disk Utility from the main menu. Repair the Hard Drive and Permissions as follows.
When the recovery menu appears select Disk Utility. After DU loads select your hard drive entry (mfgr.'s ID and drive size) from the the left side list.  In the DU status area you will see an entry for the S.M.A.R.T. status of the hard drive.  If it does not say "Verified" then the hard drive is failing or failed. (SMART status is not reported on external Firewire or USB drives.) If the drive is "Verified" then select your OS X volume from the list on the left (sub-entry below the drive entry,) click on the First Aid tab, then click on the Repair Disk button. If DU reports any errors that have been fixed, then re-run Repair Disk until no errors are reported. If no errors are reported click on the Repair Permissions button. Wait until the operation completes, then quit DU and return to the main menu.
Reinstall Lion/Mountain Lion: Select Reinstall Lion/Mountain Lion and click on the Continue button.
Note: You will need an active Internet connection. I suggest using Ethernet if possible because it is three times faster than wireless.

My Macbook Pro is frozen on the login page with a white screen and only my login picture. How do I fix this? I can't turn it off and I closed it and let it charge but it's still not working. It's only 3 months old and was working perfectly fine 30min before this happened.

    Hello Kierasully,
I would start your troubleshooting with the article below for issues of not being able to log in to your Mac. Start with booting up in to Safe Boot as well as resetting PRAM on your Mac. If that does not work, then verify the hard drive with booting to the Recover HD and go to Disk Utility to verify it.

Please read this whole message before doing anything.
This procedure is a diagnostic test. It’s unlikely to solve your problem. Don’t be disappointed when you find that nothing has changed after you complete it.
The purpose of the test is to determine whether the problem is caused by third-party software that loads automatically at startup or login, by a peripheral device, by a font conflict, or by corruption of the file system or of certain system caches.
Disconnect all wired peripherals except those needed for the test, and remove all aftermarket expansion cards, if applicable. Start up in safe mode and log in to the account with the problem. You must hold down the shift key twice: once when you turn on the computer, and again when you log in.
Note: If FileVault is enabled, or if a firmware password is set, or if the startup volume is a Fusion Drive or a software RAID, you can’t do this. Ask for further instructions.
Safe mode is much slower to start up and run than normal, with limited graphics performance, and some things won’t work at all, including sound output and Wi-Fi on certain models. The next normal startup may also be somewhat slow.
The login screen appears even if you usually login automatically. You must know your login password in order to log in. If you’ve forgotten the password, you will need to reset it before you begin.
Test while in safe mode. Same problem?
After testing, restart as usual (not in safe mode) and verify that you still have the problem. Post the results of the test.

When I log into facebook, there is a white screen with the text displayed on left side of screen. I have tried to delete cache and cookies but page will still not display properly. Please help!

    1) First of all '''Download & Install Firefox 3.6.19'''. This version and Firefox 5.0.x are the only Stable and Still Maintained versions of Firefox.
    http://www.mozilla.com/en-US/firefox/all-older.html
    2) Your User Agent shows that you have the '''Fast Browser Search toolbar''' (Fast Browser Search Make The Web Better - FBSMTWB) installed. This toolbar has been causing many problems in the Firefox 3.6.13+ versions. '''Uninstall''' that extension.
-> Control Panel > Add or Remove Programs. Uninstall "Fast Browser search protection" and "Fast Browser Search" (MyWebTatoo) (My Tattoons) (mywebtattoo.com) (www.tattoodle.com)
    -> Files: fast-browser-search.xml, fbstoolbar.jar, fbstoolbar.manifest

  • White Screen after Load on Facebook Game(s) on Firefox

I recently installed Firefox and had previously used IE and Chrome.
One of the main reason why I discontinue Chrome was due to the problems that arose with multiple tabs
However White Screen appear on One of the Facebook Games after the game page load.
Afterward, similar white screen appear on IE/Chrome for this game.
The game still works on another PC without Firefox and by using another account.
Yes, I have contacted the aps developer and the connection problem seem to originated from my end.
The Only New Application I have installed to the PC that no longer works for Candy Wood on Facebook are Mozilla and the Adobe (upgrade) that was installed together. I think plug-in might had been a the problem or with scripts overlapping but I am no tech expert to know a solution.
Please in detail: Tell me how to get the game working again. If there is a file I should remove.. pin point where it is located.
Here is a picture on what my white screen looks like and does not belong to me.
    https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/questions/958791?esab=a&as=aaq
On the Inspect Element: "Use of getPreventDefault() is deprecated. Use defeatPrevented instead"
I haven't got a clue what this mean or how to fix it. Google has people stating this file might be duplicated coding and need to remove one of them when someone else questioned it but without proper full instruction... I don't know how.

If all browsers on the same system have the same problem, it could be related to external software. For example, your McAfee security suite may block suspicious content, either in its firewall component or perhaps in parental controls.
The message you saw in the web console about defaultprevented is not important.
If you right-click the middle of the page where the game should appear, does the right-click (context) menu have an entry labeled This Frame? If so, try expanding that list and opening that frame in a new tab. Usually this would pull the game frame out of Facebook into its own tab. Does that display?

Angry Birds Friends on Facebook will not load in Firefox, just white screen. Will load using Chrome, etc? Checked for malware, cleared cache, re-installed Firefox, disabled add ons, enabled java, updated flash and shockwave, etc.

    Hello,
Try disabling graphics hardware acceleration. Since this feature was added to Firefox, it has gradually improved, but there still are a few glitches.
You might need to restart Firefox in order for this to take effect, so save all work first (e.g., mail you are composing, online documents you're editing, etc.).
    Then perform these steps:
*Click the orange Firefox button at the top left, then select the "Options" button, or, if there is no Firefox button at the top, go to Tools > Options.
*In the Firefox options window click the ''Advanced'' tab, then select "General".
*In the settings list, you should find the ''Use hardware acceleration when available'' checkbox. Uncheck this checkbox.
*Now, restart Firefox and see if the problems persist.
Additionally, please check for updates for your graphics driver by following the steps mentioned in the following Knowledge base articles:
[[Troubleshoot extensions, themes and hardware acceleration issues to solve common Firefox problems]]
[[Upgrade your graphics drivers to use hardware acceleration and WebGL]]
Did this fix your problems? Please report back to us!
    Thank you.

  • How do I fix login fail as it goes from flip-screen to white-screen then back to login page?

When I login to OS X 10.8.2 on my late 2009 iMac (8GB of RAM) with Parallels 8 running Win7 Full, the window flips over to my desktop background to commence the login process, then, flips back to a white screen and then back again to the login page. All of this happens at once in a total of 3-4 seconds. I have run the disk utility to fix permissions and verify the disk and all is well except, that the login problem continues and I am unable to login at all. Any ideas before a full wipe and restore?

    - Have you tried resetting the iPod.
Reset iPod touch:  Hold down the On/Off button and the Home button at the same time for at
least ten seconds, until the Apple logo appears.
    - Then connect to computer and if it shows in iTunes restore.
    - If screen is still on, let the battery fully drain. Then charge for an hour and try the reset and retore again.
