White Screen Flashes before SWF plays

hi,
When you first go to the website I am building you will see a
white screen apear (same size as movie), it's there for maybe a
second then you start to see the loading routine...then it runs ok
from there. Why am I seeing the white screen? The background color
of the movie is Black.
Thanks,
Russ

You need to set the background color in the html object.
Without this parameter, the html will assume that the bgcolor is
white, until the movie loads enough to display something.

  • How can I prevent white screen flash before loading page?

Hi, I have a serious issue with this macbook including versions from mountain lion to maverick (now).
THe problem is stated in the title.
Sometimes when I load the next page, it would flash white then loads the page. It hurts my eyes to see this happen often. Sometimes it loads it with the websites background, sometimes it doesn't and uses safari's white blank page.
I have disabled extensions and restarted safari and the computer with them off - it doesn't help or change or prevent it.
I have switched the "open with new blank page" to other options as well with extensions off - it still didn't help.
Please help me resolve this issue as every night it gives me eyes surprises of white flashes.

Please read this whole message before doing anything.
This procedure is a test, not a solution. Don’t be disappointed when you find that nothing has changed after you complete it.
    Step 1
The purpose of this step is to determine whether the problem is localized to your user account.
Enable guest logins* and log in as Guest. Don't use the Safari-only “Guest User” login created by “Find My Mac.”
While logged in as Guest, you won’t have access to any of your personal files or settings. Applications will behave as if you were running them for the first time. Don’t be alarmed by this; it’s normal. If you need any passwords or other personal data in order to complete the test, memorize, print, or write them down before you begin.
Test while logged in as Guest. Same problem?
After testing, log out of the guest account and, in your own account, disable it if you wish. Any files you created in the guest account will be deleted automatically when you log out of it.
*Note: If you’ve activated “Find My Mac” or FileVault, then you can’t enable the Guest account. The “Guest User” login created by “Find My Mac” is not the same. Create a new account in which to test, and delete it, including its home folder, after testing.
    Step 2
The purpose of this step is to determine whether the problem is caused by third-party system modifications that load automatically at startup or login, by a peripheral device, by a font conflict, or by corruption of the file system or of certain system caches.
Disconnect all wired peripherals except those needed for the test, and remove all aftermarket expansion cards, if applicable. Boot in safe mode and log in to the account with the problem. Note: If FileVault is enabled, or if a firmware password is set, or if the boot volume is a software RAID, you can’t do this. Ask for further instructions.
Safe mode is much slower to boot and run than normal, with limited graphics performance, and some things won’t work at all, including sound output and Wi-Fi on certain models. The next normal boot may also be somewhat slow.
The login screen appears even if you usually log in automatically. You must know your login password in order to log in. If you’ve forgotten the password, you will need to reset it before you begin.
Test while in safe mode. Same problem?
After testing, reboot as usual (i.e., not in safe mode) and verify that you still have the problem. Post the results of steps 1 and 2.

  • Logic 9 keeps crashing with white screen flash!!!

    Hi all,
Lately Logic has been crashing consistantly every 15-30 min since updated to 10.7.4. It has become absolutly unbearable now and is constantly ruining work and flow. Everytime it crashes a white screen flashes up and if im lucky i can save just in time before it completely freezes and the rainbow ball of death starts spinning. I have to then force quit logic. The crashes happen randomly in time and in task. The one reocurring act that i've found it tends to crash alot on is when trying to move some in the arrangement or the piano roll. I have no idea what the problem is and would post a crash report but since im force quiting EVERY time i am unable to obtain one.
Is anyone else experiencing the same problems and if so is there a fix.
    MRADERZ

Repair Disk Permissions did not work but so far so good on reinstalling the update.
Seems to be working fine on my macbook pro.
No crashes since reinstall so will do this on my imac when i get home from work.
Fingers crossed works the same as it is my main producing computer.
    Thank You AnaMusic unbelievably appreciated.

  • My MacBook was acting weird so I restarted it and when I login a white screen flashes and goes back to the login page. Help?

My MacBook was acting weird like sometimes I would log on and I wouldn't be able to type my password for a couple seconds, but it usually logged in after that. Then I left my computer open after installing the recent update after that all my applications were not responding. So I shut it down, when I turned it back on about an hour later it went to this loading screen and then to the login like usual. After I tried logging in a white screen flashed and it went back to the login/ password screen like nothing happened. Any ideas on what happened and what I can do to fix it?

    Reinstall OS X;
Reinstalling Lion/Mountain Lion Without Erasing the Drive
Boot to the Recovery HD: Restart the computer and after the chime press and hold down the COMMAND and R keys until the menu screen appears. Alternatively, restart the computer and after the chime press and hold down the OPTION key until the boot manager screen appears. Select the Recovery HD and click on the downward pointing arrow button.
Repair the Hard Drive and Permissions: Upon startup select Disk Utility from the main menu. Repair the Hard Drive and Permissions as follows.
When the recovery menu appears select Disk Utility. After DU loads select your hard drive entry (mfgr.'s ID and drive size) from the the left side list.  In the DU status area you will see an entry for the S.M.A.R.T. status of the hard drive.  If it does not say "Verified" then the hard drive is failing or failed. (SMART status is not reported on external Firewire or USB drives.) If the drive is "Verified" then select your OS X volume from the list on the left (sub-entry below the drive entry,) click on the First Aid tab, then click on the Repair Disk button. If DU reports any errors that have been fixed, then re-run Repair Disk until no errors are reported. If no errors are reported click on the Repair Permissions button. Wait until the operation completes, then quit DU and return to the main menu.
Reinstall Lion/Mountain Lion: Select Reinstall Lion/Mountain Lion and click on the Continue button.
Note: You will need an active Internet connection. I suggest using Ethernet if possible because it is three times faster than wireless.

  • Black screen flashes before opening gmail

Hi, recently I updated to Firefox 4.0. Since then, every time I visit gmail.com a black screen appears. After a split second it disappears again and the usual gmail log in screen shows up. Why is that and how can I get rid of that black screen flashing before gmail loads? Has it something to do with the ad-ons adblock, flashblock and noscript I installed? They never caused any trouble in Firefox 3.x

A possible cause is security software (firewall) that blocks or restricts Firefox or the plugin-container process without informing you, possibly after detecting changes (update) to the Firefox program.
Remove all rules for Firefox from the permissions list in the firewall and let your firewall ask again for permission to get full unrestricted access to internet for Firefox and the plugin-container process and the updater process.

  • Did anyone else see an Arabic caricature after the IOS update flash on the white screen either before or after the "hello".

Did anyone else see an Arabic caricature flash briefly when the white screen appeared?  I don't know for sure if it was before or after the "hello" greeting.

If you leave it alone, it goes through several languages in a loop.
    It's character, not caricature.

  • White screen flash when I use Preview to look at pics!

    GDay all
About a week ago my G5 Duel started flashing a white screen (like a camera flash) when I load any jpg tiff or pdf using Preview. I minimise the photo file, then load it back to full size and I get a white flash.
Its like someone is taking a screen dump of my screen every time I use the preview program... If I was on a PC I would think I was being hacked...
    Any ideas?

Create a new account, name it "test" and see how your apps work in that User acct? (That will tell if your problem is systemwide or limited to your User acct.) This account is just for test, do nothing further with it.
Open System Preferences >> Accounts >> "+" make it an admin account.
If the problem is present in the test account also, then it is systemwide. In this case try repairing this with the 10.5.2 Combo Update This is a fuller install, as opposed to an incremental "delta" update so it should overwrite any files that are damaged or missing. It does not matter if you have applied it before.
Remember to Verify Disk before update and repair permissions after update from /Applications/Utilities/Disk Utility.
If the problem does not appear in the test account try starting in "Safe Mode" (It will take a bit more time to startup because it runs a directory check first).
If that works go to System Preferences >> Accounts >> Login Items and remove them. Boot normally and test. If there are still problems, go to ~(yourHome)/Library/Contextual Menu Items and move whatever is there to the desktop. Then do the same with /Library/Contextual Menu Items. Lastly, try moving /Users/Home)/Library/Fonts to your desktop and restarting.
Log out/in or restart, if that sorts it start putting items back one at a time until you find the culprit.

  • White screen flash when shutting down after a suspend

If I have suspended my laptop at any time during its uptime, when shutting down the screen flashes white, but it turns off as usual. This only happens if I have suspened.
There are no issues as far as I can tell, I see nothing much in journalctl when comparing a suspeded shutdown vs no suspend.

  • White Screen Flash while in use

So I tried doing some resarch about a white screen, but I all I keep finding is a white screen issue when you boot the macbook and that is not my problem.   For the past week I have noticed that when I am using my computer the screen will flash to white for about 3 second then go back to the screen/page I was working on.  At first I brushed it off, but it has happened about four times in the past week.  The main programs I have been using are Safari and Microsoft Word for mac.  I have also noticed that my computer has been running slower than usual.  I have researched that and tried many fixes like getting files off my desktop/empting my cache among other things.  I have not updated to Lion, but all of my software is up to date.
My macbook is 3 years old and just wanted to see if anybody has any idea what white flashes mean.

  • White Screen Flash

I was not paying attention to my iPod Touch and suddenly the dim apple screen shows up. Then the bright apple screen and a couple minutes later it briefly flashes a white screen followed by it restarting. This continues over and over again and the only way to actually turn it off is to hold down the top and home buttons for a couple of seconds. I don't know what to do.
I am pretty sure that it is dead.
    Thanks
    null

At the very least, you may have a low battery, so I'd suggest charging it fully before drawing dire conclusions. It may very well be dead, but you might want to try going through this procedure:

  • Can I retrieve files off my MacBook Air that has crashed (White screen flashing folder)?

Besides a few freezes here and there, my MacBook Air has worked fine. However when I opened it the other day, It wouldn't power on. I pressed the power button a few times, and it finally powered on with a completely white screen. I powered it off and on a few times but nothing changed. I figured if I let the battery die, maybe it would work when I charged it again. I left the screen open, but after 10 min, a flashing folder with a question mark popped up, And it's been flashing ever sense. I took it to apple, they said it was a software issue. They plugged it into a g-drive to reinstall, along with other cords and got their apple account up, although none of my information showed up. They said the Mac forgot its software, and nothing of mine would show. They said I have to replace the lap top and gave me prices/options. I never got my question fully answered on if I can retrieve my photos, notes, garage band, music, etc. I left apple with out any trade. Does anyone know of any way I can get my pictures, music, voice memos, and notes, back? I'm desperate and have lots of important stuff that I can't access. I'm also losing work not having access to my computer. But I'm not trading it in until I try/or know there is no way to get my stuff back. I will pay anything to get my stuff back! I honestly would rather have my stuff then the computer. And just get a new one. Any advice will help. Thanks!

a flashing folder with a question mark popped up,
Can mean that your Mac can't find a system folder to boot from.
Try restarting while holding down the Option key. That should prompt the Startup Manager window where you can select the startup disk and restart.
Startup Manager: How to select a startup volume
If the disk is not available, then it's failing or has failed.
If you did not backup your important files, an alternative would be data recovery but it's expensive.

  • Flash in iWeb- a white square flashes before video loads......

hey there- i am trying to put flash into iweb. It works, using code from iWebunlimited, but there is a white box that flashes before the video loads... I've tried so many different encoders, iweb code, etc..
    see it here:
    http://web.me.com/misterscott
Any idea as to what is causing the white flash before the video?
    thanks so much......!!
    scott

i am trying to put flash into iweb
You succeeded as far as I could determine.
Anyway. The browser needs to download the files, puts them into place and render the lot.
    That takes some time.
Also, every brand of browser has its way of doing that.
And black and white on a page is the largest contrast you can imagine. Use less contrasting colors.

  • White Screen When Trying to Play Movies / TV Shows Downloaded via AppleTV

Very frustrating, consistent issue with downloading movies or TV shows via AppleTV. Almost always results in a blank white screen with no sound and no video playing. No matter how many times I stop the video from playing, exit back out to the main menu, and restart the show, the white screen persists. The only thing that seems to fix it is to manually unplug the AppleTV, wait for 10+ sec, and then replug it in. Once AppleTV restarts, then I am able to watch the specific show I had been trying to watch. HOWEVER, the problem resurfaces as soon as I move onto the next movie or TV show.
Any suggestions on how to end this uber-annoying cycle?? I have all of the latest software downloaded. I have disconnected my iTunes library from AppleTV and then re-paired / re-synced the two (iTunes and AppleTV), and I have even tried resetting my AppleTV to factory settings (although given the volume of content I like to keep on my AppleTV, this leads to incredibly long timeframes to re-sync my AppleTV with my iTunes library). Any thoughts / suggestions / miracles would be hugely appreciated. THANKS!!!

    Hi
Can't help you I am afraid, but I can tell you that you are not alone. Keep having exactly the same problem. Rented a Movie this evening and had to pull the plug half way through the download to be able to start and watch it.
I do have the Apple TV connected through a HDMI switch and wondered if it may be copy protection HDCP or something so was going to try it on component when I find my set of cables.
Will let you know the outcome

  • Screen flashes black while playing games

When I play games. The screen flashes black for a few seconds and then comes back and does it again?

After reading this one sentence problem description it is not easy to say much about your problem.
Maybe you should tell us something about your machine, preinstalled OS, display driver that you use and of course be a bit more detailed about this issue.

  • White screen flashing question mark

My internet froze for a long time so i turned my mac pro off but when i turned the laptop back on i got a white screen with a flashing box with a question mark on it. computer won't start up, how do i fix this?

Restart with the Option key held down, tab to the recovery drive, and either use the Disk Utility to repair the hard disk or the Installer to install a new OS. If the Option-key method doesn't show the recovery partition, the drive needs to be plugged in or replaced.
