  • Blackberry Curve 8520 - White Screen help!?

    Hi,
I have started having problems with my Curve over the last couple of days.  I'm sure you have heard of the problem before, battery gets to about 20/30% life & then a white screen appears.  The only way to stop this is to plug the phone into the mains charger.
I have read other topics suggesting I backup all data then re-install the OS..  The problem is, my Blackberry Desktop Manager won't recognise my Blackberry.  Windows makes the noise to suggest the phone has been found & the blackberry battery indicates its charging.
All help & suggestions would be excellent, thanks in advance.

  • Curve 8530 White Screen, help please?

I have a white screen. It did not get damaged or wet in any way. I can hear my phone ringing, hear alerts and see the LCD indicator light flashing. I cannot press any buttons to answer the phone or see the screen. The screen will only turn white when charging and hooked up to the computer, it will not respond to any pushes of any buttons. My device is recognized by the desktop manager on my computer. I have done the update to 5.0 Bundle 1675. I have also done a back up. My supported networks are CDMA 800 and 1900. I have tried rebooting both by taking the battery out before and after updating to the new version. I have NO hourglass, just the white screen. Any ideas?

    Hi
You've certainly been trying to sort it. Try my own method because it involves wiping the device completely. You have a backup so you should be good.
This what I did to completely wipe my BB. I wrote this before starting and printed it off.
If your device is functioning, perform a backup now if you haven't already done so saving the file to a place and in a name that you can easily locate on computer.
I then uninstalled DTM and then deleted all other references to BB/Rim in Windows Explorer thus removing the OS for the BB from the computer in order to ensure that the version I would reinstall would be a brand new downloaded version.
Get the latest Desk Top Software (DTS)
    http://us.blackberry.com/apps-software/desktop/?CPID=OTC-DSKTPSW&cp=OTC-DSKTPSW
and install it on the computer.
Get the correct latest version of the OS
    http://us.blackberry.com/support/downloads/download_sites.jsp
    and save it to computer.
To erase all the data on your BlackBerry device, complete the following steps.
    1) Download JL_Cmder from http://www.4shared.com/get/oqP9V-2Q/JL_Cmder_v19.html
    2) Install JL_Cmder to computer.
    3) Double check you have already backed-up the BB. If you DO NOT, you will lose ALL data.
    4) Make sure the DTS is closed and plug in the BB to computer via USB
    5) Go to the JL_Cmder on your computer and double click it to start. Now,this may take a few tries to connect, so keep trying until it does.
    6) On the first screen, Press any key to continue.
    7) Now, if your device uses a password, enter it now. If not, press "N"
    8) Press 4 to initiate the WIPE
    9) Press "Y" to continue
    10) Now type "blackberry" to continue
    11) On the BB you will see a white screen with a'507' Error. Don't worry, this is what you want! You are now ready to install the OS.
Launch the new Desk Top Software on the computer
1). On the home screen of the BlackBerry® Desktop Software, click Device > Update my device.
2). Click View Other Versions. Click the version of the new OS you previously downloaded.
3). Click Install. The DTM will install the OS and then provide you with a list of applications to install. If you have had difficulties with an app, do not install it.
Do not disconnect the device until the whole process is completed and the device has rebooted.
After 10 minutes reboot again by removing the battery whilst powered-on and leave it out for a couple of minutes.
Leave it again for 10 minutes. You should now have a fully functioning BB!

  • White Screen on Blackberry 8900

Good afternoon all, now for the story, hopefully someone can give me an answer at the end.
I have a permanently white screen, when I put the battery in the red light comes on, after a few seconds it goes off then on comes a dim white screen, then it will take a further minute or so to load, it becomes bright white then, It was originally on T-Mobile according to markings on back. I have used a virgin chip and t-mobile chip in it, and they both work, as I have called the phone and it rings, I have also sent it a text and it's accepted.
So I guess it's open to all networks.
Now I have read your numerous threads here, I eventually downloaded the Blackberry desk top soft ware, I used the virgin chip in it as that has a valid contract and the BB messenger, when it came on i connected to the BB desktop and it stated it needed updating and it downloaded more items.
During this time I had to disconnect it for the items to be downloaded, anyway eventually after plugging back in, all the new updates for the phone was put on the phone, it turned on and off a couple of times during the procedure.
After all this I still have the white screen.
So i go via the start button and get to the app loader. Click on the next and it reads the phone connects to device, then on the next page it states.
The Blackberry desktop software does not have blackberry device software for the device that you have connected to the computer, contact your service provider or administrator.
Do I did a different OS to the new one that was installed with the desktop program?
If so how do i know which one that i need?
Or is this a case of I just need a new screen?
I have read in places it could just be a New Battery Needed?
Just thought I would give you as much info as possible to help with a diagnosis.
Thanks in advance, and hopefully when i return  I might have some good news

    Hi,
I bought a bb curve 8900  four months ago, it worked perfectly and I'm so happy with it until yesterday evening !
I turned it off for 2 hours (cinema) and when I turned it on I just get a white screen ! Nothing works, I can't do anything, I removed the battery, restore the OS, reinstall the OS, ... but nothing I still have the white screen and have no access to any app ! I looked on the web and many forums but never find a good answer ! I don't want to open my bb ! I bought the phone in Cincinnati, OH at Cincinnati Bell but now I'm in New York and as you guess I can't really go to a Cincinnati Bell store.
Can anyone help me ? Tell me where to go, who can I call ? or where to send my device ? I guess it still under garanty that why I don't want to open it or to bring it to any small store where they will change the screen and I will loose my garanty !
Have you tried getting help from AT&T folks (I'm assuming AT&T because you said Cincinnati Bell but if it is a different carrier, should be the same principal) locally in NY? Most are happy to help if they can and if they can't they will tell you what to do. I think I ended up calling customer service (which might be the best bet for you) when a phone that was still under warrenty malfunctioned and they sent me new phone in the mail. You shouldn't have to go to Cincinnati. Help is probably (no pun completely intended) a phone call away

  • White screen on blackberry

Am a little confusedi bought a new hard case for my blackberry curve yesterday and when i went to download my videos as usual i got this white screen and i had to take off my battery for the fone to come back on but i find i find it hard to believe its the case thats causing that problem i was wondering if its the battery cause i charge up the fone battery is full then try downloading and this happens but when i take the battery off and the fone rebooted the battery is dead but today i was downloading and it happened so i took the case off everything was fine downloaded my videos put back on the case then it happened again i dont understand and i cant believe its the case before i use to have a problem when i try downloading more than one video the fone jus use to reboot but that has stoped on its own now and now its this problem can someone help would realy appreciate it. Thanks

What could be happening is that the case may be pushing on the battery cover which is causing the battery to lose proper connection with the contacts. This is most likely to happen when the battery has been exposed to extreme heat (e.g. left in a hot car or in a sunny window sill) and the battery has started to bulge. Take a look at the battery and make sure it doesn't look damaged. If it does, get a new battery and you should be fine. Even if the battery does look fine, see if you can try another battery for a day or two to see if it still does this.
    I hope this info helps!

  • WHITE SCREEN HELP!

Hi I woke up one morning to a white screen on my blackberry that wont go away. I tried everything.. (turning it on/off, taking out battery, charging it etc..) but nothing would work. So i brought it into the shop and they said you will need a new LCD screen but no one knows how much it would cost because you have to check some serial number at the back of the phone ? They said it could cost between 40 - 70 euro Could i buy a cheaper LCD screen on ebay and put it in myself? i know how from watching videos! Thank you.

    Okay thank you
Could i buy a LCD screen myself off ebay matching the model of my phone and replace it myself? it would save me a lot of money lol
    thanks

  • Ipad error 37 and white screen HELP!!

    Hi,
I have an Ipad 1 not jailbroken and using itunes on a windows xp machine.
Two days ago I had a notification on my ipad showing an update for the ios was available it started to download wirelessly. When I can back to check the device later it was showing a blank white screen. I have connected to the computer which detects the ipad in recovery mode and attempts to complete a restore. Every time this throws up the error 37.
I have disabled all antivirus software tried the update on three machines and two different wireless providers and still returns the same error. It goes fine up until about 80% and verifying firmware with apple servers then throws the error up.
I have tried everything DFU, restore, ammending windows hosts file and nothing.
The ipad is 2 months outside of it's warranty however it was working perfectly up until apples update
    Any help will be appreciated

    Hi,
Well the apple store was less than useless! They said that it was a hardware failure that apparently occurred by coincidence at the same time as the apple update. the level of customer service is appalling.
In the end after wasting my time with the so called genius staff. They told me without paying 158 to repair it there was no way of fixing it.
So i came home downloaded the latest version of redsnow, jailbroke it, you have to have the most recent redsnow which is a tethered((( jailbreak (if its not the most recent redsnow i was getting the firmware 6000 ms error.
Jailbroke pad and works perfect now, still won't restore through itunes but it works and I've now discovered the benefits of jailbreaking the pad anyway.
will never buy an apple product again though customer service is shocking

  • HT201263 Ipod white screen HELP!

hey i have an ipod touch 4th gen and this morning it went to white screen and i cannot connect to my itunes because it isnt recognizing my ipod for some reason (i am guessing because of the white screen). When i try to reset my Ipod with holding lock and home button it shows me the apple then goes back to white screen. I have never encountered this problem before so I am stuck, and will this possibly result in my ipod being dead and me having to get another one.
This was coused by me trying to update to ios 6 and it just radomly stopped and wen to white screen.

I had the same problems: constant white screen (or sometimes white with colored lines) and iTunes would not recognize the iTouch.  After much experimenting, I was finally able to recover my iTouch using the following steps:
    1. Update iTunes to the latest version.
    2. Allow the iTouch to fully drain.  (Mine was so locked up that the 2-button hold reboot wouldn't work anymore.  You might try skipping this step if yours isn't quite as angry!).
    3. With iTunes running, connect the iTouch to the PC.
    4. Hold both the buttons until the Apple symbol appears, THEN KEEP HOLDING until a "connect to PC" screen appears.
At this point, iTunes finally recognized it long enough to allow me to select "recover".  As the update was downloading, the iTouch lost connectivity.  After the download was complete, I repeated step 4 above, and was able to select recover again.  Although it took a very long time, eventually the recovery completed, and iOS6 was installed.
By the way, if you are like me and did not have the latest iTunes installed, the restore process will download some version of iOS5 (instead of iOS6) then refuse to go any further after the download is complete.
    Hope this helps.

  • My MacPro won't Boot - stuck on White Screen - help?

I have a MAC PRO, it was asleep during a power outtage... Now when i try to restart the computer, it never boots - and gets caught in an endless white screen. I've tried to zap my PRAM, still nothing. I just ran out of my apple support, and they are telling me to bring it - is there anything I can do on my own to fix this without having to pay a fortune?

Google - your OEM DVD has AHT on its label
A storm can send too much juice down the modem line and fry the ethernet ports, as long as it is wired, does not need to be running - and sleep is still 'running.'
I consider UPS $200 to be worth investment - as much AppleCare and helps protect the PSU which costs more to replace. My modem had to be replaced (router seems okay) was $79.

  • I-Pod Keeps Flashing A White Screen.HELP!

Every time I turn my i-Pod on it flashes a white screen with an i-Pod with a sad face on it and below it it reads," www.apple.com/support/ipod". Why is it doing this? The problem just started happening recently. Please, someone help me!

    First try the standard reset.
    http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?artnum=61705
If that does not work, connect the iPod to the computer. Does iTunes see it? If so, try using the Restore button on the iPod's Summary tab (in iTunes). This will erase it and restore its original settings.
If that does not fix the problem, it is likely that that the hard drive has gone bad.

  • When i turn my touch all i get is a white screen  help

when i turn on my touch all i get is a white screen  help

Try a system reset.  It cures many ills and it's quick, easy and harmless...
Hold down the on/off switch and the Home button simultaneously until the screen blacks out or you see the Apple logo.  Ignore the "Slide to power off" text if it appears.  You will not lose any apps, data, music, movies, settings, etc.
If the Reset doesn't work, try a Restore.  Note that it's nowhere near as quick as a Reset.  From iTunes, select the iPad and then select the Summary tab.  Follow directions for Restore and be sure to say "yes" to the backup.  You will be warned that all data (apps, music, movies, etc.) will be erased but, as the Restore finishes, you will be asked if you wish the contents of the backup to be copied to the iPad.
There's more to try but let's go a bit at a time.
