White screen ipod 5

I, or rather my IPOD 5th gen 60 Gb, is suffering from "white screen". Reset and updating doesn´t help. At random the display goes normal for a short while after I have been fiddling with the wheel.
There are a lot of hits in different disc groups out on the net about this fenomenon. Some suspect it to be due to a bug in the software. The people at Apple seems to be to occupied counting money as there is no official comment on this. Or have I missed something?

Still having the same problem with occassionally normal screen, sometimes totally white screen and most of the time a screen with stripes of white and colour wich makes the screen totally unreadable. The **** thing still plays music but I can´t see and thus can´t choose what I am playing.
I opened the iPod and disconnected the screens ribbon cable and then reinserted it. This didn´t result in any improvement; the screen still works at random. Should I replace the screen or the logicboard?
My iPod is resting calmly on a shelf and is not subject to any traumas. I never used it while on the move. For these occassions I use a solid state player.

    Hello fable987654321,
I would be concerned as well if my iPod was stuck on a white screen.  I found a tutorial with steps you can take to help with issues like this.  You can skip any steps you have already taken in the following article:

  • TS4006 white screen ipod touch generation 4

I have a plain white screen on my ipod touch generation 4. I have restored it..updated it etc. I'm able to hear music playing but can't see a thing. I have tried resetting it and I get nothing. Do I need a new screen?

If you restored to factory settings/new iPod via iTunes (Not via Settings>General>Reset>Erase all Content and Setting) and still have the problem that indicates a hardware problem.
Make an appointment at the Genius Bar of an Apple store..

Replacing the screen would likely fix the problem but it could also be due to another hardware problem.

    hi
I have Ipod Touch with a White Screen. I try
to hold the home button and the power button down at the same time and restore from itunes But the screen stays white
I replaced a few screens but it does not work
    sorry for my bad english
    please help
    thank you

Let the battery fully drain. After charging for at least an hour try:
iOS: Not responding or does not turn on
If it is doing this after yu replaced the screen it could be do to a error you made or soething is wrong besides the screen

  • White Screened Ipod Touch

My Ipod Touch 4th Generation has white screened. I can play music through the voice control and can hear other things but I only see the white screen. What should I do?

    Try:
    - iOS: Not responding or does not turn on
    - Also try DFU mode after try recovery mode

    - If not successful and you can't fully turn the iOS device fully off, let the battery fully drain. After charging for an least an hour try the above again.
    - Try on another computer
    - If still not successful that usually indicates a hardware problem and an appointment at the Genius Bar of an Apple store is in order.

  • White Screen, Ipod Song/Video Recovery

To keep it short and simple, I have the white screen problem, and I need to send my Ipod in to get repaired.
I just wanted to know if I send my Ipod in to get repaired, is it possible for them to recover my songs and videos? Just wanted to know because my laptop has just gone out of commission (Yes, everything seems to be breaking), so synching it with my library is out of the question.
    Thank you.

if you want to rescue your songs, you can put it in disc mode, even if it has a white screen.first plug it into a computer, any computer will do. try to get the blank white screen. once the screen is white, Hold the menu and the middle button until the screen turns black now before it turns back on hold the play/pause button and the middle button, and the screen should turn gray, if not try again sometimes it doesn't work the first time. you should hear the bong noise on your computer that signals a connected device. now go to my computer and you should see a new drive. click on it. there should be multible folders. this should be your ipod. one of the folders should contain your music/videos/etc copy them to your pc than send your ipod to get repaired.
    Hope this fixes your problem.

  • White screen (ipod touch)

Please bare with me, I'm not good with the computer lingo...
I have an ipod touch. My computer is running on windows 7.
I was using my ipod this evening and the pop up came up saying that I had 20% battery life left. So I plugged it in. As soon as I plugged it in, the screen went white. Now it's just a dull white, until you touch it and then it goes bright again. But it's still just white. The volume button doesn't do anything, the power button doesn't work either. It wont do anything.
I tried to get suggestions throught the tec. support, but it wont load on the website for some reason.
    Please help!!

Thank you. I set up a call last night, for them to call me this morning. I was just hoping to have this resolved sooner haha.
Here is what the lady told me to do, and it worked, incase someone else has this issue.
    1. Plug your USB cord into the computer but NOT your ipod.
    2. Hold the sleep/wake button (on the top)as well as the home button
    3. When the screen flashes or goes solid black, let go of the sleep/wake button, but continue to hold the home button.
    4. Now plug the USB cord into the ipod as well, still holding that sleep wake button.
    5. A pop up should show on your computer, stating that apple has detected you want to restore to factory.
    6. When that appears, click ok, and then let go of your home button on the ipod.
    7. When it is finished, another screen will come up saying that an ipod has previously been used on the computer. Do you want to sync with that, or sync a new one. Sync new, even if it is the same ipod.
    8. Once that is done, you can sync all your old information back on.
    THANKS FOR THE HELP!!

  • Blank (white) screen, iPod won't work

I've had my iPod video for a few months now. I went to start my computer this morning and it wouldn't start. I tried time and time again and it only started once I disconnected my iPod from my computer. After I did that, I noticed that the screen of my iPod was blank, or rather completely white. Now no matter what I do to my iPod it won't work. Does anyone have any idea why this may be happening? Please let me know if you do and thanks in advance.

  • Blank White Screen - iPod Nano 3rd generation

When I removed the iPod from its docking station today the screen went blank (white).  It's still fully functional - plays music, volume up and down etc.  However, it's extremely difficult to use without the screen.
I have read various offers of solutions - such as:
Holding Menu & Select button - but Apple logo does not display and cannot reset
Heat up - I've tried placing on a radiator to warm connections - no change
Run down battery and reset - not change
    Any other idea please?

    1. Make sure the Hold switch is not operated (i.e. you have it set so that the Red is not showing on the switch.
    2. Press and hold the Centre and Menu buttons at the same time, keep them pressed until the Apple Logo appears on the screen (this can take a while, over 10 secs, so keep them pressed).
That should reset the iPod, if it does not work, then try step 2 again with the Hold switch in the other position.

how to fix ipod 6th generation which has a white screen

Be sure to try a Reset first
    http://support.apple.com/kb/ht1320
This "reboots" the iPod.  If that does not help, try doing a Restore on the iPod in iTunes (from the iPod's Summary tab).  This erases the iPod, re-installs its software, and sets it to default settings.
If that does not help, the cause is likely to be a hardware problem.

  • White Screen of Doom

    Hiya everyone.
I accidentally dropped my Video iPod(30GIG) last night off of the counter. A meer 2 some feet made my iPod stop playing and display a completely white screen. I let the battery die overnight, and I plugged it back in this morning. It did -not- boot up with the Apple logo on the black BG, directly to the white screen. My computer recognized that -something- was plugged in, and did not come up as Fleet in My Computer, but instead, "Removable Device". iTunes itself also does not recognize if there is an iPod connected. Resetting brings the iPod back to the plain white screen. iPod Updater 2006-06-28 does not see an iPod connected to the computer.
To think Apple hasn't given the thought of having an easier way to reboot, AKA, a small button hidden inside of the iPod itself, only pushable by a long, extremely slender object, or even the simple ON/OFF button, but, thats just me...
Any sort of help would be appreciated! Thanks!

(I realize that I put this up twice, but, I figured out that I posed in the wrong subsection of the forum... <.<)

Alright, so I've been doing some work, and I still haven't fixed my iPod. I went to Best Buys Geek Squad booth and they gave me a checklist since I wasn't signed up with them, nor did I buy my iPod there (pick lil mo...). Anyways, I ran through the checklist, untill I hit "Restore your iPod using the latest iPod installer." I installed iPod for Windows 2006-06-28, ran it, and got a "iPod Manager Internal Error" Message, then it closed. I reinstalled it, and instead, I got "iPod Service Error." I attempted to restore using the two previous versions, but I got the second error both times. So, I googled up the error and clicked the second search result (http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?artnum=93716) and performed everything in there, and my iPod still does not work. (In which, by the way, I love how Apple assumes that there is a problem with the Windows OS itself. "f you have tried all the steps in this document, and the linked documents, and iPod is still not being recognized correctly by iTunes or the iPod Updater, then there is likely some other system issue on your computer. This may require you to repair or reinstall Windows." Big ole LOL to you my Apple, LOL.)
Anyways, now I suspect that since the hard drive is not making with a sort of death clicking nose, that the hard drive runs fine, and that My Computer is able to locate the iPod as "Removable Disk", I assume that either A, there is some issue on the hard drive itself, or B, there is some sort of issue within the iPod that I can not fix.
Hopefully in a little while I'll be able to go back to Best Buy, have Geek Squad do the check themselves, and have them repair it.
