White Screen Not Codec Issue, AV Controls Adjustment

I have installed Quicktime 7.1 Player, Upgraded to Pro. When viewing files in the stand alone player (MOV,AVI, MP4), the video is all white. Selecting "window" then "show AV controls" and adjusting the video brightness to anything other than the default center position, the video plays clearly. Is there a fix to this issue? Can I save the 'adjusted' brightness so the video isnt always white to begin with?
Files viewed in Internet Explorer with the plug-in seem ok, this seems to just affect the stand alone player.

Ok found the answer on a previous post and this worked:
1. Open the QuickTime Preferences dialog. (On player, select edit then quicktime preferences)
2. Click on the Advanced tab.
3. Uncheck "Enable Direct3D video acceleration" (the 3rd checkbox under DirectX).
4. Click OK.
5. Close QuickTime.
6. Try to play the video again. Does it work this time? If not, repeat steps 1 and 2 and try selecting "Safe mode (GDI only)".

  • White Screen (not of death) on wake-up

So the reason why I added "not of death" to this thread title is that generally the "white screen of death" implies that the apple device goes to a white screen more or less permanently. My issue, on the other hand, is slightly different. The issue is as follows:
    - when attempts to wake up/turn on the ipod touch (32GB 4th gen), it goes to a white screen for a few seconds then goes back to sleep/turns back off
    - the period during which the white screen is on varies from as few as 4 second, up to something like 15 seconds
    - sometimes when reset attempts are made, the screen goes back to white, INSTEAD of going to the black silver apple screen (indicating that the reset/restart was successful)
    - this phenomenon has become more frequent over the past few weeks since I've purchased the device (delivered 26 Dec. 2010).
    - sometimes I still get a normal wakeup/startup with my device (going straight to the unlock screen), and by sometimes I mean something more like "seldom"
Another point of note is that I've never dropped my device or bumped it or knocked it around. I'd appreciate some help with this issue since it doesn't seem to be the same as other posters. This actually happened the 3rd time I used the device, but when I brought it back to the store it was working fine (go figure).
At this point, *my major question is whether or not I should bring it in to get it serviced or replaced*. Thanks ahead of time.
    -Andy

If a restore didn't help, it sounds like either the screen or logic board is bad.

  • 8900 Dreaded White Screen / Suspected Batt Issue

Hello. I have been getting the dreaded white screen of paralysis after about 10 to 15 mins of talk time or continuous use. When re-connected to the power supply it re-boots and appears to be normal again with the batt bar showing full until the problem re-occurrs again re-starting the same cycle. Effectively this means I have to be close to a power source at all times. All suggestions welcome.

The 8900 is an older device.. around 5 years. Have you tried a replacement battery?
Besides reloading the software using this guide:
    http://supportforums.blackberry.com/t5/Device-software-for-BlackBerry/How-To-Reload-Your-Operating-S...
not sure what else could be going on with it.  Are you able to upgrade the device?  I can't guarantee the software reload will resolve the white screen issue.

  • White screen & not able to sync

I have an ipod touch 1st gen. Just recently, I haven't been able to sync with itunes & my comp. doesn't recognise the ipod (no chime when I connect the ipod thru USB, itunes doesn't show the device as being connected). Also (and I'm not sure if it is related) but I just have a white screen (no apple). I'm unable to get the power slide to show up. I've tried the 5 r's, updated my itunes to the latest verison, even tried to charge using A/C adapter & nada! Not sure if it is a problem with the charging connecting thingy or if the battery is just so far gone. Advice would be greatly appreciated.

Yup. We have an itouch 2nd gene, ipod 80g classic & 3 nanos and no problems with those. Just the 1st gene itouch. The screen stays white for literally 2 secs, then goes to black. I don't even get the battery image or the apple image anymore. I think it's deader than dead.... LOL!

  • Iphone 4s white screen not responding

    Hi,
So basically my phone got a bit of water damage a couple months ago - it was working fine for about 2 months, then I switched it off one day and it wouldn't switch back on; I was getting a white screen with black edges, that slowly come in so the whole screen becomes black (this can take at least a day), then for love nor money, the phone won't switch on. Siri will occasionally talk to me if I hold down the home button, but that's the only response I get (and I have tried switching the phone off and blindly swiping the screen to properly switch it off that way, it doesn't work), and then after a few days (the longest I've had to wait is 2 weeks) the phone will suddenly switch back on. However, even once it's on, the screen flickers constantly and I can't use my camera as that just crashes the phone. I know it's all because of the water damage, and Apple won't be able to fix it without a hefty fee, but I was wondering if anyone else has had this problem and has any kind of solution?! I've tried literally everything I can think of, and while I try and not let my phone die at all, and have my powerbank on me all the time, sometimes it just happens!
Anyway, I don't think there's much anyone can do to help, but any suggestions are greatly appreciated!
    Thanks

Sorry, but if you want a working phone again, there is nothing more you can do than to choose the Out-Of-Service-Warranty option to get the device replaced by a refurbished phone. The water damaged the phone too much, and the symptoms might even get worse, especially if the phone is still powered on.

  • Iphone stuck at white screen, not recognised.

Hey guys, need some help on an iphone i bought off ebay.
It doesn't react to any buttons being pressed, and the phone lights up with a plain white screen when its plugged into a computer/charger.
You cannot turn the phone on/off or reset it. No buttons work.
I'm just curious if there is any way to fix this error.
Here is a link to a picture of the white screen.

  • White Screen, NOT the shift-w issue

FCP 5.1.4 on an Intel Mac.
I have a slew of QT's in the sequence, that will work for a while, but then my sequence viewer will go to white. For no reason. At first I thought it was the shift-w thing, but once being conscious of it, I became aware of what I was doing. This just seems to happen. Saving out the project and re-launching the app fix the issue for the time being. The clips are all Motion Jpeg A.
Has anyone seen this issue before?
When it happens, I can cycle though the shift-w options and I can sometimes get the RGB+A (red) overlay, over the white, which becomes an burnt orange...
    so weird.
    any thoughts are welcome.

  • White screen, not syncing with computer- tried holding buttons please help?

Please help. The screen of my daughters 4th gen ipod has frozen white. Have tried syncing the frozen ipod with computer but it is not recognised. I have treid holding home and sleep button at the same time but no change. Would be prepared to do a reset but the computer cannot recognise it. Have read various other responses to questions and am currently leaving the batteries to drain. None of this is helped by the fact that my daughter is sobbing about it in my ear! Ahhhhh

  • White screen not of death...

I just understood that I could possibly get answers for my problem here aand not on the syncing section...
"one day out of no where my screen becomes blue sky-ish on all the white writting or color on my screen... It was kind of annoying so I tried lightly pressing my screen but then the screen went all glitchy then the screen degraded then all white. I tried Restoring and Rebooting my iPod.
I dropped twice or trice but not higher than 30 cm off the floor... So is it my fault or is there something wrong my iPod 4th Gen.?
Oh and I took really good care of my iPod! My mom is ganna kill me if something is wrong about my iPod so I need a solution for this problem fast, unless it's a hardware problem?
Oh and I didnt jailbreak my iPod and I dont intend to."

  • CC app has blank white screen, not downloading anything?

I just download the CC app to my Windows 8 laptop.
After going through all the steps, everything seemed fine.
But then I went to download the Adobe Flash [The animation program] trial version from the site, and the CC app pops up from my desktop, but it's just a blank white box.
On the main site it says:
    Flash Professional is downloading now...
But NOTHING is showing any sign of it doing so on the site, downloads, or my computer.
I've never used this site before, and don't ever recall downloading Flash at home, only in school.
I search through my files/programs, and nothing related is there.
    I appreciate any help.

  • Curve 9300 White screen problem, PLEASE HELP!

Hi guys, so basically, I've been having this problem for a little while now of which my phone freezes at a random stage, white screens with the red LED light ON and reboots itself. I have tried several things from this forum so far.
I have backed up the phone on desktop manager
I have re-installed the OS twice now, (downgrading OS's)
I tried to use the phone without the memory card or SIM in, I used an app called 'kik' for a little while, but eventually as suspected it froze, white screened and the issue persisted.
I can easily text one person on the phone, but as soon as I receive a text as I'm typing it freezes the phone, white screens, reboots. Back to square one.
Something you may need to know is that a while ago, I was in a storm, the phone did get slightly wet, and it did actually stop working. I placed it in a tub of rice for the night, and hey presto it worked again, was happy with that, but from just about a few days after it was working fine, it started doing this.
Is it the water damage creating this problem, if so would a repair store be able to fix this problem for me?
The phone is in a tub of rice again right now, doubt it'll make a difference though.
YOUR FEEDBACK WOULD BE GREATLY APPRECIATED, THANK YOU!

Hi and Welcome to the Community!
While the rice trick is good, only waiting 8 hours ("for the night") is dangerous...typically, waiting 5 days in the rice before applying any power is needed, and even then there are no guarantees. Applying power to your BB between it getting wet and doing this process reduces the chances of success. Further, the only thing predictable about moisture intrusion into a BB (indeed, any electronic device) is that the results will be unpredictable. I've seen some come back up right away and be fine. I've seen others never work at all. I've seen still others run for a bit, and then die later. And every thing in between.
From what you describe, I would deduce that the 24 hours in the rice was not long enough, and corrosion continued internally, exacerbated by the application of power, eventually resulting in complete failure.
As for if anyone can fix it...at an internet distance, that is impossible to say. Only in-hand evaluation by a qualified BB hardware technician can provide you with a proper evaluation and estimate.
    Good luck!

  • Zire 71 White Screen :(

My Palm Zire 71 worked a week ago just fine.  I turn it on today and it has a blank white screen now.
I've tried adjusting the contrast/brightness and the "dial" does not pull up once I push the contrast/brightness button.
I've also tried the soft and hard resets and no dice.  What happened???
    Thanks!
    Post relates to: Zire 71

Are you sure you are doing the hard reset correctly?
Here are the instructions for performing a hard reset.
A hard reset wipes everything off your palm. A hard reset is performed by holding down the power button while sticking something thin (your stylus, paper clip) into the back reset hole of your device. Keep your hand on the power button while you release the paper clip from the reset hole. The screen will now say "Palm Powered." Take your hand off the power button. You will now see a screen in 5 languages prompting you to erase all data from the palm. The screen will say "erase all data? Yes - up, no - down" and you need to click on the up arrow (silver button on the 5 way navigator on the bottom of the palm). This will erase all the info from your device.

  • White screen (reset doesn't fix, restore doesn't fix, no logo at boot)

    Hi guys,
Wondering if anyone can help me with this issue. I've read a bit about the iphone's "white screen of death", which, according to forum posts, can usually be fixed by a hard reset or an iTunes restore. My iPhone 3G also shows just a white screen but neither a hard reset nor a full restore has fixed it.
I can connect my phone to iTunes and I can happily read all my data. iTunes had no problem restoring the phone and I upgraded to the latest firmware. I can even interact with the phone by touching the screen (e.g. I hear the unlock click when I slide my finger along the bottom of the screen) but the screen remains white. It seems the phone is "there", but the screen is just completely useless. I haven't seen anything other than the white screen since this issue arose yesterday, not even the logo during reset or during restore.
Can anyone help or recommend a solution?
    Cheers,
    Alex
