White screen of death ipod 4th gen

I got the white screen of death I have tried reseting/ turning it off but it wont work. i even tried holding the volume button DOES not work. I tried to restore it in my computer but i need to enter a passcode to restore but since i cant see anything i cant I tried back up but i need to enter my passcode once again. I tried DFU mode it wouldnt work. I dropped it a month ago then it turned white but i did the reset thing then it worked fine just had to reset it like 10 times a day now it wont reset anymore. How much will it cost to repair if you are out of warrranty.

Try:
- iOS: Not responding or does not turn on
- Try using this program to place the iPod in recovery mode
RecBoot: Easy Way to Put iPhone into Recovery Mode
- Also try DFU mode after try recovery mode

- If not successful and you can't fully turn the iOS device fully off, let the battery fully drain. After charging for an least an hour try the above again.
- Try on another computer
- If still not successful that usually indicates a hardware problem and an appointment at the Genius Bar of an Apple store is in order.

Apple will exchange your iPod for a refurbished one for $199 for 64 GB 4G and $99 for the other 4Gs. They do not fix yours.

  • White screen of death ipod touch 4g 32gb [dropped]

I got my ipod touch 4g 32gb for Christmas 2012, so it's still quite new, i accidently dropped it on the kitchen floor, screen face down [facebook app was currently running at the time] it had a silocon case on it so it wasn't as bad, when i pick up my ipod to check it was alright, the screen was all white [white screen of death].
I've tried 'home+lock screen buttons' & i have also tried 'Home+lock screen+ volume up buttons' this didn't work.
my friend suggested that i leave it to drain out and after 24 hours it died out, after about 20-30 mins i put it back on charge and the white screen came back up, i took it off and i'm leaving it for the night and will try it again tomorrow, does any one have any suggestions on other ways i could fix it, please help, thanks.

  • Can you replace your screen on an ipod 4th gen without having to replace the digitizer

i have a broken ipod touch 4th gen eveything works just need to replace the glass nothing else can it be done or do i need to replace everything

The screen on the 4G and later iPods are one bonded unit of the outer glass, digitizer, and LCD assembly. Thus, you have to replace all three at once as one bonded unit

  • WHITE SCREEN of DEATH (ipod shows only white screen on VIDEO IPOD)

i was dumb enough to unplug my ipod when it was updating.
the result was a white screen that never went off and came back after resetting.
im dedicated to helping others fix this problem with out sending their ipod to apple.
    THE SOLUTION:
reset your ipod by holding select and menu, THEN when you hear the wierd beeping sound hold down the select button and play button FOR ONE MINUTE OR MORE....... FIXED!!!!
it should display a check mark and say OK TO DISCONNECT!!
then just plug it into the computer and copy ur library back onto the ipod.

i have and ipod touch 4th gen that has the white screen of death but my home button doesnt work. how do i reset it?

Restore, if iTunes will let you.  Everything except the password will be restored.  Connect via cable to the computer that you use for sync.  Be forewarned that it takes a long time.  From iTunes, select the iPad/iPod and then select the Summary tab.  Follow directions for Restore and be sure to say "yes" to the backup.  You will be warned that all data (apps, music, movies, etc.) will be erased but, as the Restore finishes, you will be asked if you wish the contents of the backup to be copied to the iPad/iPod.  Again, say "yes."
At the end of the basic Restore, you will be asked if you wish to sync the iPad/iPod.  As before, say "yes."  Note that that sync selection will disappear and the Restore will end if you do not respond within a reasonable time.  If that happens, only the apps that are part of the IOS will appear on your device.  Corrective action is simple -  choose manual "Sync" from the bottom right of iTunes.
If you're unable to do the Restore, go into Recovery Mode per the instructions here.

  • My iPod touch 4th gen has the white screen of death and won't connect to iTunes to restore.

I was updating from iOS 6 beta 1 to beta 2 when my ipod froze up and started showing the white screen of death. I've tried the trick where you hold the power and home button for ten seconds and tried to put it in DFU mode to restore. None of these tricks work and my screen is still white. Also I plug it into my Windows Vista computer with iTunes 10.6.3 but it wont show up. I really need help. I don't have warranty or money to buy a new one. My grandmother will heartbroken if $200 goes down the drain.

Im not developer and I have ios 6 click this link http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kHvf6Wty0nk&feature=plcp but anyway try putting it into dfu

After it would no longer turn on i put it on the charger to find that the white screen would pop right back up. I didnt want to restore it but because its my only option i put it on my compute but itunes couldnt acess it because i had a passcode on it. is there a differnt way to restore it or fix it?  HELLLPPP MEEEE!

  • IPod nano 4th gen stuck on White Screen of Death

So recently my iPod of 4 years has gotten the white screen of death.
I tried doing the restarting. You know. hold the on/off button then hold MENU and SELECT. Nothing. It just blinks the white screen off and then on.
Interest to note: I use my ipod nano in the shower (with dock). Maybe the steam from the shower had something to do with it?
    Anyway, thank you.

I should note that I CAN still use this ipod. I can play songs on it EVEN while my screen is white. Also, when I plug it into my Win7 (32-bit), the iTunes (latest version 1.0.4) recgonizes my ipod and play the songs/playlist from it.

  • IPod 4th gen's screen was glitching, now the screen is half white, but still works.

Hello everybody! I couldn't find the solution to my problem anywhere on Google so here I am and I really, really hope you guys can help me.
My iPod 4th gen has been acting up lately. Last night, the screen kept flickering and glitching. This happened the first week I got my iPod, but it stopped after a bit and it never happened again until now. I thought this glitching would stop after a bit, but this morning, I still found my iPod in the same state (if not, worse).
I think the problem is yesterday I plugged my iPod into my laptop and none of the USB ports could pick up my iPod so I plugged it into my ancient computer to see if there was something wrong with my cord, but my computer was able to pick up my iPod and so I left it there to charge. I also downloaded the latest version of iTunes onto that computer because the iTunes on that one was really old. After, I plugged it back into my laptop and it worked again. What I'm thinking is that maybe the computer did something faulty to my iPod and messed it up. I think that's what happened the first time also when my brother used my old iPod nano charger (had it for five years) to use it to charge my iTouch.
Anyways, my iPod now has a white screen in the middle and I can't see anything at the bottom, but the first half of the screen is still visible. Also, my iPod still works. I can click on apps, view photos, listen to music perfectly, it's just the screen is all messed up and everything is just super bright.
I've tried resetting it by holding onto the home and the on/off button but it doesn't do anything. I was hoping I wouldn't have to restore my iPod, but it looks like I have to maybe? Do you think I should let my battery completely drain and then plug into my laptop or something? Any suggestions besides dropping by the Apple store to check it?
    Thank you in advance.

I would restore the iPod. First from backup and if problem persists, restore to factory defaults.
If still have the problem then you have a hardware problem and an appointment at the Genius Bar of an Apple store is in order.
