White screen on 27 in iMac when booting to 64 bit Windows 7

Recently installed 64bit Windows 7 on a 27 inch iMac w/i7 intel processor and 2g ATI Graphics card.  I was running Snow Leopard 10.6' I believe at the time. Worked fine for awhile but then starting having problems booting to windows. Will get on occasion, a white screen w/flickering bar I upper right hard corner. Have since upgraded to Lion.  Same problem. Have checked Windows windows updates. I have noticed that if I boot to windows from a shutdown position, I seem to have no problem getting windows. But if I restart the iMac from Lion to Windows, I get the white screen.  Ave not nailed this pattern down yet, but I did notice a difference lately. Any ideas? Thanks in advance

AN IMPORTANT UPDATE!
I had turned off my virus protection and firewall, and was still unable to connect to the printer, or ping it.
I could successfully ping the printer from my router, so I turned the router off and back on, re-configured the wireless setup on the printer, and I am able to connect and print again!
Even though I could connect the printer to the router, and all of my computers were connected to the internet, something on the router was preventing me from connecting to the printer that was connected to the same network.
So I've learned that I have a printer that works fine, but I own a crappy router. Hopefully this can help someone else.

  • I keep getting a white screen on my iPhone 5 when I check my mail

Why do I keep getting a white screen on my iPhone 5 when I check my mail?

This could be the result of a few different things.  A damaged LCD screen, corruption in the iPod's software, or a loose LCD ribbon cable.  If a restore of the iPod in iTunes does not take care of the issue, then the iPod likely needs to be serviced.

my ipod touch 4th gen froze! only blank white screen and doesn't respond when turned off or connected to my laptop!

First, try a system reset.  It cures many ills and it's quick, easy and harmless...
Hold down the on/off switch and the Home button simultaneously until the screen blacks out or you see the Apple logo.  Ignore the "Slide to power off" text if it appears.  You will not lose any apps, data, music, movies, settings, etc.
If the Reset doesn't work, try a Restore.  Note that it's nowhere near as quick as a Reset.  Connect via cable to the computer that you use for sync.  From iTunes, select the iPad/iPod and then select the Summary tab.  Follow directions for Restore and be sure to say "yes" to the backup.  You will be warned that all data (apps, music, movies, etc.) will be erased but, as the Restore finishes, you will be asked if you wish the contents of the backup to be copied to the iPad/iPod.  Again, say "yes."
Finally, if the Restore doesn't work, let the battery drain completely.  Then recharge for at least an hour and Restore again.

Hello, My mac mini will not boot. When I turn it on, I get the chime, then the white screen, then the apple symbol, then a file symbol with a question mark, then the white screen and then it stays like that.
Is this a bad hard drive?

Sounds like it.  Try booting from your OSX restore DVDs - startup and hold down "C".  This will take AGES! Then run Disk Utility from the menu.
The flashing ? means your system is corrupt, dead, not there, on a dying HD, etc...

  • White screen with apple logo - WILL NOT BOOT UP!

HELP!! My macbook is about 3 years old. I've already had the hard drive die on me once and I lost everything. This time is a little different.
I have been getting the colour wheel of death for quite some time now but my computer has continued to work, just slow and constantly shutting down programs. I thought I should restart so I did a force restart and when my computer came back on all it had was a white screen with the grey apple logo. That's it! It does nothing!!! It will not load past this screen. If I leave it on it will continually shut down and turn on to this page over and over every few min. I hear the fans and it sounds like something might be going on but still nothing! *All I see is a white screen with a grey apple logo. PLEASE HELP!* I don't want to lose all my personal items again
I'm not 100% sure of my operating system and I'm not to good with tech stuff so please make it so I can follow the instructions.
    THANK YOU!

Hi cmiano and welcome to Apple Discussions!
Even more important than the steps listed by Dave is *make all efforts to back up your data NOW!* As your first hard drive failure might have indicated to you, drives are mechanical devices and are thus subject to failure. Computer people will tell you there are two types of hard drives: those that have failed and those that are going to fail. The only question is when. Keep a backup of your data current at all times. Important data should be backed up at least twice.
Having said that, in order to do it now you are going to need to do some work. I would remove the hard drive from your MacBook and put it in an enclosure. Connect this enclosure to another Mac and copy over all your important data.
After you have done this, put the hard drive back in your MacBook and do the steps that Dave suggested.
    Best of luck.

  • IPod has a white screen... beeps twice when I reset.

Well, that was before I restored it.
Now it's stuck on a gray screen and still won't respond. I called an iPod rep and they said it might be a pixel error? Dunno.
Any suggestions on how to fix this or what I should do? Thanks in advance

I have almost the exact same problem. The only difference is that whenever i plug my ipod in to charge(doesn't matter where, same thing happens with every charger), i get a white screen and two beeps. I tried reseting and i tried restoring but none of that worked. The computer says that the ipod is corrupt and sometimes when i plug the ipod into itunes it doesn't show up and the computer doesn't register the the fact that ipod is connected. Even though the ipod is charged, i can't even get to turn on. Im thinking about replacing it but i'm not sure. Please somebody i need help with my ipod!!!

I plugged it to the computer it gave me white screen with black apple. I pushed the home and the top went black then gave the itune and the charging plug picture. I tried to download and update, the message came as couldn't restore due to unknow error. Any help??

    Try:
    - iOS: Not responding or does not turn on
    - Also try DFU mode after try recovery mode
How to put iPod touch / iPhone into DFU mode « Karthik's scribblings
    - If not successful and you can't fully turn the iOS device fully off, let the battery fully drain. After charging for an least an hour try the above again.
    - Try on another computer
    - If still not successful that usually indicates a hardware problem and an appointment at the Genius Bar of an Apple store is in order.

  • IMac 2008, Boot Camp 5, and Windows 7/8 32-bit & 64-bit

I am interested in installing Windows 7 via Boot Camp 5 on my iMac (see sig) but I'm confused as to whether or not my mac is even capable of installing Windows 7 at all. Let me explain.
According to THIS support article, Boot Camp 5 dropped support of Windows 7 32-bit whereas Windows 7 64-bit remains supported alongside the newly supported Windows 8 64-bit. So far, so good. But according to THIS support article (scroll down to "Boot Camp requirements by Mac model" and click on "iMac"), my mac model (iMac 24-inch, Early 2008) only supports Windows 7 32-bit as of Boot Camp 4 and that Windows 7 64-bit and Windows 8 64-bit are not supported for my model. ???? That's the crux of the conundrum I'm facing.
So my question is this: can someone give me a definitive answer as to whether or not my iMac is capable of installing and running Windows 7? What about Windows 8?
    My sincere thanks in advance.

The truth is that you can run Windows 7 and Windows 8, in both 32 and 64-bit versions, without any problem (you have a 64-bit processor). The problem is that Apple only supports a 32-bit Windows 7 version for your Mac. Why? Because Apple wanted to drop the Windows 8 support for the computer you are using.
You can see in this page all the Macs compatible with 64-bit Windows editions > http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1846 As you can see, your Mac isn't supported, so you can only install a 32-bit Windows 7 version with Boot Camp if you want to run Windows correctly.
I told you at the beggining that you can install any 32 or 64-bit Windows 7 and Windows 8 versions on your Mac because your iMac meets the requirements for both editions. However, you need the Boot Camp drivers to make Windows run properly, and here's where Apple has dropped a lot of computers, making them unusable if you install a version that Apple clasifies as unsupported. Sad but that's true

  • Boot Camp & 64-Bit Windows Vista Ultimate

My wife and I purchased the latest top-of-the-line iMac about 10 days ago (3.06 Ghz (Core 2 Duo), 8 GB RAM, 24 inch). We were hoping to use Apple's Boot Camp in order to run a very specific 64-bit application on the Windows side.
To our astonishment, this top-of-the-line iMac cannot run 64-bit Windows (we have an additional copy of Windows Vista Ultimate). Only select Macs can run the 64-bit Windows OS:
    http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1846
Does anybody think there is a chance that this might change with the arrival of Snow Leopard next month...?
I certainly hope so! I really need to run this one application a few times per week in association with some personal and work responsibilities.
By the way, I already tried Fusion (2) and didn't like the results (a little too slow). There are some who have said that Boot Camp is a little bit faster for some 64-bit applications. Don't know if this is true or not...

    Hi,
have a look at the hatters post in this thread http://discussions.apple.com/thread.jspa?messageID=9730296&#9730296 for a workaround.
    Hope it helps

  • Ipod classic has white screen and do not disconnect when connected to computer and ok to disconnect when not connected to computer and stays on recognized in computer but not in itunes

has anyone had this problem followed the steps to rest but i keep getting the same problem

If you have your iPod set to automatically sync with iTunes, right click on the iPod in iTunes, select options and if you have a check mark in the box marked “enable disk use”, remove it and your iPod should automatically disconnect after it’s finished transferring music.
