White Screen on h.264 Export

Can someone pls help me. Using Mac os x downloading on Vuze movies. Just download trailer
H.Potter last trailer part 1 . Watched okay in QuickTime. When Sharing to Itunes Library ( for streaming to Apple TV) video is blank screen but with Audio. How to fix BLANK SCREEN ? Its really weird because QT plays the video as well as VLC. To export to Itunes I am using QuickTime /Share / Itunes and works fine for several movies but for this last one (trailer Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows part 1) Blank(White) Screen with audio. Pls help me.

I've got a similar issue. Encode to H.264 (mp4) with Nero Recode 2 and get white screen with audio. However, it works fine with a small video clip.
Here's what happen. I had the video files (VOBs) and had Nero do a conversion from DVD to Nero Digital. My first run, I just selected 3 minutes of video and ran with the default settings for Portable - AVC video. Things ran fine and I could play in iTunes 6 and Quicktime 7. Next I ran the whole movie through Nero. Then the resulting video wouldn't play correctly in Nero Showtime or Quicktime or iTunes. So I'm guessing its codec related, but I don't have 3ivx installed, I have ffdshow and AutoGK which has Xvid codec tools in it
Any known incompatibilities with Xvid or ffdshow and Quicktime playback?
Thanks in advance,
jonatj

  • Quicktime Pro exports white screen when trying to export to iPod or DV

I'm recording video on a "Flip" video camcorder which plays back great in Quicktime but when I try to convert the files to either DV so I can edit them in iMovie, or convert them so I can watch them on my iPod, I end up with sound but no picture, just a white screen. I've tried some other QT video from other sources and have the same results so I'm guessing that it is not the camera. I thought it might be my settings to I tried other "Export To" settings but I always end up with a white screen. Any suggestions?
    Thank you!

  • White Screen!! after export!!!

Ok so i just finished exporting a .mp4 file into a .m4v but it is just a white screen! the sound is great except theirs a big white screen!
    please help!

Can you provide specific format information? Open your source mp4 in Quicktime Player, press Command I to Get Info, and post the format information here. Without knowing the specific codecs being used, specific answers cannot be given. A white screen usually indicates that there is a playback codec missing from the system.

  • White Screen in ITUNES after Quicktime Export. Samsung CL65

I have a Samsung CL65 digital camera. When I shoot movies I transfer them from my camera to IPHOTO, along with my pictures.
When I open the movie in IPHOTO it opens in QUICKTIME and there is an option to EXPORT TO ITUNES. No matter what quality I select (Iphone - Appletv) the result after the export in ITUNES is always a movie WITH SOUND but with a WHITE SCREEN for video.
I have 3 digital cameras, samsung, panasonic and canon. I only have this problem with Samsung. The video file that the Samsung camera makes are mp4.
I want to be able to export from Quicktime to Itunes without getting a white screen movie with sound. Any ideas????

The Samsung video codec does not appear to be "conversion compatible" with any application employing the QT embedded structure. It took me over an hour to find what I assume to be a true, non-YouTube converted "CL65/ST1000" sample file for testing purposes (i.e., it would have been a lot quicker if you had uploaded a sample file for testing) before actually running a series of tests under both Leopard and Snow Leopard. Basically, it seems you can use an alternative application which contains its own codec and does not need to "prepare" the file content before initiating the conversion. I found that the free HandBrake application which defaults to the X.264 codec worked for me. As I consider not changing the frame rate rate to be more important then retaining full 720p dimensions, I only ran tests using a 960x540 @ 30 fps setting for TV device.

  • White screen in Avid Meridian after export from FCP 6?

After exporting a sequence as 10 bit uncompressed NTSC (using AJA Kona II card) on FCP Ver. 6.06, I imported the file into my Avid Symphony (Meridian).
When I tried to play the file, I could only see a white screen. Audio plays fine.
I have searched Apple, AJA (Kona card) and Avid websites, but can't seem to find a codec or update that addresses this problem.
    Any suggestions?

Ahhh...I think the big issue is that you are running that Avid on a PC.  So what you need to do is convert the file to the Avid Meridian QT codec, and then bring it over.  This means that you need to download that Avid codecs and install those on your Mac.
And there will be a gamma shift...no way around that. You'll have to correct for that on the Avid.

  • Exporting slideshows results in file with only the first picture then a blank white screen with music. Apple bug or am I missing the obvious?

When I export slideshows the result is a file with only the first picture then a blank white screen with music. Apple bug or am I missing the obvious?

Usually when the phone shows just the white Apple logo, it indicates an issue with the system software that prevents the phone from finishing it's boot sequence. When this happens, you will need to restore the phone, which removes all data and replaces the system software with a fresh set.
Since the phone is not seen in iTunes when it's in this state, you will have to put it into DFU mode for iTunes to see it.
To put the phone in DFU mode:
    - make sure the phone is connected to a computer with the current version of iTunes on it.
    - hold the sleep/wake button and the home button simultaneously for 8 seconds.
    - let go of the sleep/wake button and continue pressing the home button. The iTunes screen will show a short progress bar then show a dialog box stating that an iPod was detected that is in recovery mode.
    -click OK
-click the Restore button in the middle of the iTunes page
After the restore the phone should be back up and running and you can sync your data back.

  • Exporting in quick time - flashing white screen

I edited a finished intro (some text changes) , but i can't export it in .mov format (quick time) .What i mean is, when i try to run the intro, every second it flashes a white screen, it get's white every second, for just a bit, and then it continues, and the next second - same thing.Problem is, i need the best quality, and the .avi format just is not enough.
    It's an emergency.
Any kind of help, will be much appreciated!

    Just not enough information.
How did you create the animation/Flash doc. The more exact details the better. How much actionscript is used? etc.

  • Trying to export movie from QuickTime Pro to AVI and getting white screen

    Hi there,
I am trying to export a movie from QuickTime Pro to an an AVI file. It goes through the process as if everything has worked, but when I open the finished file, all I get is a white screen with no audio or picture.
I need to save lectures from school from the school website to my computer so that I can watch them when I do not have internet access. QuickTime gives me the option to save the video straight from the web, but as soon as I turn off my AirPort it tells me that I need internet to continue watching the movie..
I need some way to get the files to my computer. Any suggestions?

AVI is just a container ... specifically, which codec are you using when exporting? And why export to AVI?

That usually means that your system doesn't have the codec installed needed to view the video, but your web browser is using a plugin that does. What format are the web videos? Flash?

  • HDV crashes/comes up as white screen with only sound when exported.

Hi I have been searching all throughout the forums for an answer to my problem but seem to find no clear solution. I edit everything into an HDV1080i60 timeline in Final Cut Pro 5 and then I try to export, whenever I export with Quicktime Conversion, Final Cut Pro crashes midway through. When I export with Quicktime Movie at 1080i60, the file comes out but when played is a blank white screen with sound only.
Every export setting has failed EXCEPT Uncompressed 8 bit NTSC. The video does come out good but the file sizes are enormous because it is uncompressed.
Is there any solution to this problem, I don't understand why its happening now, about one month ago everything was working great. I have downgraded to quicktime 7.3.1 yet still no results.
Any help would be much appreciated.

something between then and now has thrown a large spanner in the works
the fact that Quicktime Player is not seeing the HDV codec and yet FCP is able to work in that codec is a clear indication of the issue
starting with the least extreme and easiest solutions:
Use Disk Utility app to repair permissions on your system disc, see if that helped
Create a new user account and see if it all works better in that new account
Boot from your OS install discs and use Disk Utility app to repair your system disc, see if that helped
Uninstall and then reinstall Final Cut Studio (repair permissions again after the reinstall)
... probably best solution though is a complete clean reinstall of both OS and applications
    hope it helps

  • Keynote export to Quicktime = blank white screen

We have Keynote 4.0.1. We have a slide show that plays perfectly, but when we Export to Quicktime, the resulting movie has a blank white screen and our music track, but no narration and no graphics.
    Any clues?
    Thanks!

From your description your problem may be that you have QuickTime video embedded in your Keynote document.
QT video will play normally in a Keynote presentation, however when you export the Keynote presentation to a QT movie, the video will be blank. This is a long-standing issue with Keynote and the 4.0.2 update does not fix this problem.
There is no workaround using Keynote only.
You can export the graphics portion of the Keynote presentation to a QT movie and then embed that movie in a video editing program such as Final Cut Pro (I don't believe iMovie is up to the task). Once you've assembled all the pieces--the Keynote presentation, your narration, and whatever else--you will then be able to export to a QuickTime movie.

  • White screen (no visual but perfect audio) in all exported clips

This is driving me crazy! For the last 3 days I have tried everything I can think of to export my sequence. I previously posted this:
"I'm trying to export a 12 minute sequence using quicktime conversion in FCP. Format is HDV 1080i50.
I've attempted to do so 5 times now, and each time, it gets to 7% quite fast and then doesn't move for hours. After a few hours FCP just closes and says: the "FCP application quit unexpectedly. Try again or report"."
Since then, I was able to export a QT movie (or finalcut mov file, self contained) and have tried to converting it to every format possible in both compressor and visual hub. No such luck.
All i get is a white screen where the visual should be, while the audio places perfectly. Does anyone know why this keeps happening? I would think there's something wrong with my project settings, but I was able to get a low quality QT movie out of compressor (and both SEE AND HEAR it). However the file size is too small for me to use and the other formats won't seem to work.
If anyone knows why this happening I'd would REALLY appreciate the help!!!!
    Thanks,
    Chelsey.

Yes, I'm only getting the white screen in the exported files... I can view the clips in the final cut viewer whilst editing.
This RANGE CHECK thing - where exactly is it and how do I turn it off?? I've seen this mentioned before.
Also, if the problem is QT 7.3, can I just uninstall this rather than FCP... but I suppose old versions aren't really available anymore. And it doesn't really explain why it has worked in the past.
Thanks everyone for all your suggestions.

  • *~*Slideshow exports with music but blank white screen!*~*

    The details:
    I'm using iPhoto '09 on a mid 2009 MBP, Lion 10.7.2, 2.35Ghz, NVIDIA GeForce 9400M 256 MB, 4GB RAM DDR3, 320GB HDD but now 108 GB free.
I have 176 photos in the slideshow, all .jpg. Using the Scrapbook theme with a "Custom Playlist" (selected from iPhoto's Slideshow music browser/settings menu thingo) of 3 songs -one is the theme's default song, the other 2 are mine from iTunes Library.
Exporting to .m4v using the "Display" quality setting. Takes forever, about 1.5 - 2 hours, at the end in the final export there's either a blank white screen and the music works, or it all works up to one point and then the screen goes white and the music chages abruptly to the nexrt song.
Am I doing anything incorectly, or is there something I might be able to try in an attempt to fix this?
Advice or help so, so greatly appreciated

Yes the track details were written in English, thanks for your response. And they weren't tracks with DRM.
I ended up solving it ... can't be specific about what resolved the problem because I tried multiple things.
I heard there was a problem with iTunes 10 and iPhoto 'talking' to eachother, so I copied my songs over into the iPhoto theme music folder (in Application Support >> iPhoto Slideshows) and selected them in iPhoto by clicking "Music" and, this time instead of clicking iTunes, I used the default themes folder/drop-down selection. I then exported via clicking the Export >> Custom Export button and selected .mov with Apple Intermediate Codec, changing the FPS to 25 (someone said to do this in another thread, it wasn't about the same problem as mine but I tried it anyway. I'm not a techie person but it also may be important to justify the choice of 25FPS by saying I'm using PAL ... I think that has something to do with the FPS?!)
Anyway, after all that, the final export played back perfectly! Hope this is able to help anyone out there who may have the same problem. I exported two different slideshows, one had about 150 more photos than the other, so I can safely say the successful export wasn't a fluke!

  • White screen (no video) w/ QT&+H.264

I downloaded an H264 .mp4 file and when I view it in QT7, I get a white screen with sound. I've read similar posts and the answer seems to be that those folks weren't running QT7. I am most certainly using QT7 (running Tiger 10.4.3). Am I missing something?

as an update... I got the file to play just fine using VLC on my Linux box. This is really frustrating. You'd think that if an open-source player can play it, then surely Apple's proprietary player could! Apple still has a long way to go as far as supporting a wider variety of formats, especially the one it's promoting! (H.264)
