White screen on iphone 3G

Good morning! There may be more information on the forum regarding this issue; but i didn't find it upon cursory search. So, I apologize in advance if i'm relating a known and resolved issue.
That being said, this morning, while checking e-mail on my iphone, the phone seemed to freeze up and then when to a white screen. Before trying too many things (did try to shut it off), i googled the problem and came across "Rob's blog". On the blog the problem is related by many and the fix is either returning the phone or, (if it works), simultaneously holding the off button and the home button for a few seconds. I tried that and it worked. The apple came up and after a few minutes all seemed to be fine. I immediately connected to itunes and backed up my device. Thought I'd share this in case anyone else runs into the problem. Does anyone know what causes the white screen? Thanks

No, both "power off" but the (hard) reset doesn't go through the shutdown process first. The reset is equivalent to pressing the power button on a Mac or PC until it turns off, and again to restart, in one step.

and after i opened it now white screen.
i iphone itself works it recieve calls but the screen is white.
i'm almost sure that i didn't cause damage to internal parts and cables.
restire can solve the problem? or should i buy new lcd?

Perhaps, the ribbon cable of display might have broken. See closer safely. If it is you will see small crack cross the cable. Then replace a new display carefully.

ITunes shows white screen for iPhone, allows eject only

Recently restored my phone to factory settings. Connected to iTunes. iTunes shows the device and allows to eject, however to the right there is only a white page. Already tried the following:
reboot of both devices
reinstall itunes
connect device to different computer (same white screen)
reset all content and settings on iphone
I'm running out of ideas. The phone works fine - but I can't sync or restore anything! The only option when I click on the iphone icon in the sidebar is...eject!
Screenshot attached. Strange that the same screen shows up on 2 macbook pro's!

I have the exact same problem. I've restored multiple times on two different computers without any luck. This seems to be a brand new issue happening today as I have found multiple threads about this issue...

I replaced a new display to my iphone 3gs. Only one time display worked. After that displays shows only white light but iphone is working normally call and all. But no display than white. Please help me. Thanks.

Sorry, we can't help you with your problem, as users are not supposed to do repairs on the phone. Also the Terms of User rule against discussing that in these forums.
You'll have to search for a experienced 3rd party repair shop to get your phone fixed, Apple will not service it anymore after being opened.

HELP! iPhone is recognized, but when I click on the device, all it shows is a white screen with "iphone" on it. It doesn't allow me to sync or anything.

That is the screen it shows... How it happened; I plugged in my iphone for the first time, then it asked me to register...
My computer then froze and I clicked cancel and restarted computer. When I turned it back on, it wouldn't go any further than simply showing the "iphone" text as shown in the picture!

Mobile me has been discontinued for over a year. What system and iPhoto versions are you running?
How are you trying to sync? With Photo Stream or thru iTunes?
Do you have an iCloud preference pane in your System preferences?

Iphone 4 Phone App White Screen/Battery Draining Fast

I have an iPhone 4 with the most recent version of the software. For the second time in about 5 weeks, my phone app has completely stopped working and only shows a white screen when entering. I can still receive calls however. The only way I could fix it before was a complete system restore, which was horrible. My battery drains really quickly and the iphone gets really hot. The system restore seemed to fix it for a few weeks last time. I tried hard resets, soft resets, and everything in between. A friend of mine had the same issue with his phone.
Any ideas?

I did some research. I deleted my exchange account from work and it appeared to have fixed the problem.

My iPhone 4s turns off after battery gets below 40% and sometimes when I take a photo,it shows the photo in the photo album but will display a white screen when i tap on the photo. Please help thank you :)

My Iphone 4s is 2 years and 3 months old. the battery drains very quickly, sometimes turning off once it reaches 40% if I open an app or say the camera.
I charge it more than twice a day now as the battery life is so poor.
Also, when I take a photo, the phot sometimes shows in the album, but if I click on it, it shows up as a white screen and I cannot send the photo either as the recipient gets a blank screen.
I am not super flash with technology, so please be nice!

Basic troubleshooting from the User's Guide is reset, restart, restore (first from backup then as new). Try each of these in order until the issue is resolved.
If the issue persists, take the device to Apple for evaluation and possible replacement.

Hello!, am a new iphone user I bought an iPhone off my friend and put my sim card in the iPhone.
I've had my iPhone for 2 months nearly, when I got the iPhone it was in Great condition still is...BUT... I have the 'white screen of death' but with grey lines down the screen, I thought it was only tempory because when I smacked the phone against something it would work again, but now the problem is Permanant!!
I've been on youtube and typed in my problem and people have suggested:
- Holding the home screen and lock at the same time (it did nothing)
- Holding the home screen and lock and the up volume key (it did nothing)
- Restoring and updating the phone (it just came up with errors 4,9 and 21)
I really have no idea what to do, can I replace the whole screen? would that work?
or am I utterly screwed?
I really can't live with out having my iPhone! Help!

sounds like your LCD is broken. Replacing it would fix your problem. If you're handy with mechanical things you can replace it yourself, there are plenty of video's online who show you how. Order the parts and do it yourself, or you can pay roughly $50-75 to have it replaced.

If you don't have Applecare you can usually get a refurbished unit from an Apple Retail Store cut price - though they may not have any 3 models in stock and you may be 'forced' to upgrade to a 3GS.

Try a reset: Simultaneously hold down the Home and On buttons until the device shuts down. Ignore the off slider if it appears. Once shut down is complete, if it doesn't restart on it own, turn the device back on using the On button. In some cases it also helps to double click the Home button and close all apps from the tray BEFORE doing the reset.

IPhone 4S user in Japan. App store won't load...only white screen. Help?

I am living in Japan and have an iPhone 4S through Softbank. Yesterday, the app store on my phone quit loading. When I open the app store the top bar shows up and the bottom shows up (featured, charts, genius, search, updates) but the middle is only a white screen. The exception is Genius. When I click on that, then results do show up. But if I click on Featured, Charts or Search, the middle just stays a blank, white screen. There are some apps I would like to purchase, but since I can't get any search results I can't get them. I've turned my phone off several times, logged out of the app store and back in a couple times. None of that has worked. Internet works fine. I am WiFi and 3G and have unlimited data.
Any tips?

Mine too... the problem started last night, I made my friends check with their phones and same problem. We have tried different ways to fix it but nothing. If it continuous for another day or so I think I will go to Softbank or the Apple Store for help.
