White Screen on iPod Touch app store, NOT ITUNES.

I have an iPod Touch 4th Generation running on iOS 6 and the App Store application recently stopped working on it. Everything else is running perfectly, it still has internet connection and everything, but nothing will load on the App Store. When you open the application it's just a white screen, no loading circle or anything, you can click on the five categories on the bottom still (Featured, Charts, Genius, Search, and Updates), but they are all just a white screen, with the exception of the "Search" option. When you go to search, everything is still white, but the gray search bar is still available and when you type in items it still auto finds matches for the keyword you're searching, but when you actually press search, nothing happens.
I heard restoring the iPod might work, and that a lot of other people are having this problem, but it's happened to numerous people and I feel as if after the restore it might just come back.

Try a reset, and if that fails, try again while in the appstore. No data is erased.
To reset the device:
Hold the power button and the home button down until the device shuts off, then power it back on and see if the problem is resolved.

White screen on ipod touch 4th gen 8 gb and cannot turn it off

First, try a system reset.  It cures many ills and it's quick, easy and harmless...
Hold down the on/off switch and the Home button simultaneously until the screen blacks out or you see the Apple logo.  Ignore the "Slide to power off" text if it appears.  You will not lose any apps, data, music, movies, settings, etc.
If the Reset doesn't work, try a Restore.  Note that it's nowhere near as quick as a Reset.  Connect via cable to the computer that you use for sync.  From iTunes, select the iPad/iPod and then select the Summary tab.  Follow directions for Restore and be sure to say "yes" to the backup.  You will be warned that all data (apps, music, movies, etc.) will be erased but, as the Restore finishes, you will be asked if you wish the contents of the backup to be copied to the iPad/iPod.  Again, say "yes."

  • My Ipod touch apps are not working.

My Ipod touch apps are not working. They attempt to appear but it seems like something is stopping them. They show up for less than a second then dissappear. Also all of my synced music dissappeared as well. I'm not sure if that is something in common?? I've tried resetting my ipod. I never link it to a computer, and that is why I synced my music from a friend. Please help me!

Sorry I mean that I reset my settings. I havent reset the whole i pod. I want to try to keep all of my apps.

Is there an "Apple recommended" way to recover from the stuck "white screen" on iPod Touch?

Yes. See the white screen topic of:

If your iPod is covered (insured) I would suggest taking it to Best Buy and see if there is anything they can do for you. Maybe try plugging it into iTunes and see what happens.

  • How to skip updates on iTunes store and iPod touch App store???

    Hi all!!!
I would like to know how can I skip an updated APP? The game PacMan has been
updated and people had problems with it (slow) and I just wana skip it but there isn't
any way that I know of to remove that "1" update number and it's the same thing on my

    to update the program.
    Any help welcomed!!!!
    PS: 1st Gen Touch

I was just researching the same! No results yet.
To be honest: this is a patyful thing in the UI of iOS. I can no longer tap "update all" since there are some I don't want to update.
P.S. Even Microsoft Windows 7 lets users to "hide updates" that one doesn't want so the OS updates never annoy again. How come iOS fail?

  • White screen on iPod touch.  Quick fixes not working.

We have a two week old iPod touch that started going to a white screen.  We reset holding both buttons as many have suggested, but it returns and ends up going to white with a black apple fading away.  It never returns to normal.  iTunes won't recognize the iPod, either.  Any way to reset without using iTunes?

  • IPod Touch apps will not open (through no fault of my own)

I'm really starting to get frustrated. I just got my new iPod Touch 2 days ago. I loved it. However, today I tried opening several of my apps but they won't open.
    1. I tried connecting the iPod back to iTunes to see if they just didn't synchronize correctly... didn't work.
    2. I tried to reset all settings in the settings menu... didn't work.
    3. Tried resetting the iPod by holding the sleep and home keys... didn't work.
The last option is to delete all the apps and download them again, which I don't want to do. I feel like of I have to download them again after 2 days, then how many more times will this happen? (Understand what I mean?)
The music and video playback is fine, but if this was all I wanted, I would have saved $150 and bought an iPod Classic.
I'm sure this problem has a reasonable solution that doesn't involve deleting or re-installing anything. I'm just hoping that one of you know what that solution is.
    Hope you can help me.
    Thank you for your time.

It could be that you are trying to run apps that require version 3 software, and although you've only just bought your Touch, there are several posts on the forum which suggest that they are still being shipped with version 2.
To find out which version your Touch is running, go from the (Touch's) *Main Menu* to Settings/General/About and look at the version number towards the bottom of that list. If it's version 3, then there's a different problem, but if it's version 2 (or 2.2.1), read on.
Go to the *iTunes Store/apps* section and look up the apps that don't work. (Once in the store, you can type the app name into the *Search iTunes Store* box at the top right.) Towards the bottom of the screen, on the right hand side is the heading REQUIREMENTS and under here is says *Compatible with ...* & also *Requires iPhone OS ??? or later.*
Many apps only require 2.2.1, but if obviously, if you have one that requires version 3 and your Touch is only on version 2.2.1, that's likely to be the problem. (A less likely problem is the *Compatible with ...* An app that is only compatible with the iPhone, but not with the Touch is usually because the app makes use of the phone parts of the iPhone which are not on the Touch.)
So, is it the version number? If so, the solution is to upgrade your Touch to version 3. The bad news is that you have to pay for it. It's approximately 10US$ or £5.99 here in the UK. (I know what you're going to say, "why am I paying again when I've only just bought it?" The Apple view is that version 3 is a major upgrade to the operating system that offers new features and is not part of "maintaining" the existing OS. I cannot answer why new Apple are shipping new Touch's with the old OS - because I don't know, sorry.)
If you do require the new OS, I recommend that grit your teeth and buy it. To do this, connect your Touch to your iTunes and look (in iTunes) on the Summary pane. Somewhere at the top of the pane will be information about whether your Touch is "up to date" and you should be able to see the option to upgrade.
