White screen on ipod

I have an early model ipod 30 gb. The screen is just plain white when I plug it in to charge. What do I need to do to fix?

Hi there secbanker,
I would recommend taking a look at the troubleshooting steps found in the article below.

Is there an "Apple recommended" way to recover from the stuck "white screen" on iPod Touch?

Yes. See the white screen topic of:

white screen on ipod touch. tried holding buttons. dont work. need help.

If your iPod is covered (insured) I would suggest taking it to Best Buy and see if there is anything they can do for you. Maybe try plugging it into iTunes and see what happens.

  • White screen on ipod touch can not turn it off.

White screen on ipod touch 4th gen 8 gb and cannot turn it off

First, try a system reset.  It cures many ills and it's quick, easy and harmless...
Hold down the on/off switch and the Home button simultaneously until the screen blacks out or you see the Apple logo.  Ignore the "Slide to power off" text if it appears.  You will not lose any apps, data, music, movies, settings, etc.
If the Reset doesn't work, try a Restore.  Note that it's nowhere near as quick as a Reset.  Connect via cable to the computer that you use for sync.  From iTunes, select the iPad/iPod and then select the Summary tab.  Follow directions for Restore and be sure to say "yes" to the backup.  You will be warned that all data (apps, music, movies, etc.) will be erased but, as the Restore finishes, you will be asked if you wish the contents of the backup to be copied to the iPad/iPod.  Again, say "yes."

  • White screen when iPod 5G starts up

I updated the software on my iPod today whilst downloading the Mac OS 10.4.4 update/QuickTime update/iTunes update etc... It was working perfectly before I updated it. Now it just starts up with a blank white screen. I've tried resetting it a couple of times, restarting my computer whilst it is connected. I've left it until it powers down again and tried reseting the iPod. I've also tried plugging it into the computer when it's powered down, and my iPod makes a few bleeps before going to a back white screen.
    Any ideas?

I have fixed my iPod blank/black screen problem (i suspect black screen for iPod5G black model, and white screen for the white model) On Black Friday, which was yesterday, after I upgraded the newest releases on QT/iTunes602/osx1044/iPod11, iPod didnt do anything, no mounting to my iBook/iMac/G5PwrMac. Hard reset didnt work, etc.
I decided to fix the iMac permission with local drive DiskUtility, then reboot the iMac with the Original Tiger iMac DVD software restor disc which comes with the desktop then repair the volume with this method. Then I reboot and then I did an extended hardware test with the same disc, but with the Hardware test disk (which is the same as software restore DVD, iinstead of holding down the c key, hold down the option key when reboot with the disc)
After all that, iMac restarted and recognize my 5G iPod 60GB, I quickly restore the whole iPod to manufacture setting, hopefully you have all the info backed up somewhere, I did a clean defractmentation, and then used the iPodUpdater from 11-17-2005 to restore the iPod 1.0 version.
Now I am done and my iPod works like new. Go try it guys... Good luck!

  • White Screen on iPod Touch app store, NOT ITUNES.

I have an iPod Touch 4th Generation running on iOS 6 and the App Store application recently stopped working on it. Everything else is running perfectly, it still has internet connection and everything, but nothing will load on the App Store. When you open the application it's just a white screen, no loading circle or anything, you can click on the five categories on the bottom still (Featured, Charts, Genius, Search, and Updates), but they are all just a white screen, with the exception of the "Search" option. When you go to search, everything is still white, but the gray search bar is still available and when you type in items it still auto finds matches for the keyword you're searching, but when you actually press search, nothing happens.
I heard restoring the iPod might work, and that a lot of other people are having this problem, but it's happened to numerous people and I feel as if after the restore it might just come back.

Try a reset, and if that fails, try again while in the appstore. No data is erased.
    To reset the device:
Hold the power button and the home button down until the device shuts off, then power it back on and see if the problem is resolved.

  • Flickering white screen on iPod touch?

Flickering white screen appears when iPod is turned on. After a few tries I finally get
Few times I get the locked screen.
Tried reset and restart, but problem persists.

First, try a system reset.  It cures many ills and it's quick, easy and harmless...
Hold down the on/off switch and the Home button simultaneously until you see the Apple logo.  Ignore the "Slide to power off" text if it appears.  You will not lose any apps, data, music, movies, settings, etc.
If the Reset doesn't work, try a Restore.  Note that it's nowhere near as quick as a Reset.  It could take well over an hour!
At the end of the basic Restore, you will be asked if you wish to sync the iPad/iPod.  As before, say "yes."  Note that that sync selection will disappear and the Restore will end if you do not respond within a reasonable time.  If that happens, only the apps that are part of the IOS will appear on your device.  Corrective action is simple -  choose manual "Sync" from the bottom right of iTunes.
If you're unable to do the Restore, go into Recovery Mode per the instructions here.

  • White Screen on iPod, Restore won't work, Please Help

My iPod has a blank white screen, and no matter what I do, it remains that way. I recently noticed that if I hold the Menu and Select buttons, the iPod turns off and I can hear the clicking noises when I push a button. It does reset, but only to the same white screen. If I put the iPod in forced disk mode, it is registered perfectly by iTunes and Windows, but it remains non-functional otherwise. If I try and connect the iPod to the computer without being in disk mode, it is registered by Windows but does not show up in iTunes or Windows Explorer.
I have restored the iPod MULTIPLE times, however, no matter what I do, it always returns to the blank white screen.
I would appreciate any help that anyone could give me.
Edit:I just tried to put it in diagnostic mode and I heard the "beep", but it still kept the white screen.

It seems the LCD screen and the battery need to be replaced for your iPod. After doing few restores, which does not leave you with any other option but
Consider setting up a mail-in repair for your iPod http://depot.info.apple.com/ipod/
Or visit your local Apple Retail Store http://www.apple.com/retail/
In case your iPod is no longer covered by the warranty and you want to find a second repairing company, you can try iPodResQ or ifixit at your own risk

my iPod nano 6th generation is appearing with a white screen. i have tried the restore, but nothing has changed. what can i do ?

Get your iPod serviced either by Apple or a third party repair company.  For pricing on repairs done by Apple, see the link below.   If you live near an Apple store, I would set up an appointment at the Genius Bar and have them take a look at it as well.

For third party repair centers, you can use Google to help you locate a desirable one to do the job.
