White spots on the Twist touch screen issue (pressure point)

Hi,
I purchased the Lenovo Twist two month ago.
Recently, I found three white spots (known as pressure points) on my screen,
so I sent it to the depot for warrant service.
The service center said the white spots were caused by a physical damage such as a strong pressure,
so it could not be covered by warranty and I should pay about $700 to fix it.
I am very careful with my laptop and do not believe the white spots were due to strong pressure.
If they were caused by a regular touching on the screen (since Twist is touch-available screen), it must be manufacturing defect.
Any suggestions for this issue? Or should I just give up and learn to live with them?

If anybody's reading this in the future, DP's advice definitely worked. I hadn't removed the video card originally. When I did, I noticed that it had so much dust in it that the fan wasn't able to operate. Embarrassing. Anyways, I cleaned it out and now the computer's running smoothly. A lot quieter too!

Mine starts working after 3, 5, 10 or 15 minutes. I cannot pinpoint exactly what makes it start or stop, it is very random. I hope Lenovo will fix it soon, it is a great machine otherwise.
    Solved!
    Go to Solution.

    All,
We have a firmware update for the touchscreen that is in process of being released through our support site.  Since there could be multiple causes as discussed in the other thread, I can't promise this will be the solution for you.
However, I've attaching the file to this forum post.  Download it and rename it from .abc to .exe.  I renamed it .abc to get around some limitations with attaching executables.  To install, be sure AC is attached and double click the file after you have renamed it.
Let me know if this helps.

  • Did Sony test the Z2 touch screen before they released it?

Just wondered seems sometimes you can't tap anywhere on the screen or it completely freezes?
If you are on here looking for if you want to buy this tablet or not, please dont, at least until you  read on here that the massive touch screen issue has been addressed.
Over at XDA, where they have people who are actually intelligent, have worked out that if you have root access and you modify the /system/usr/idc/clearpad.idc file
    Code:
    touch.pressure.scale = 0.0001
    (original value: 0.1)
    and
    Code:
    touch.filter.level = 1
    (original value: 2)
Then this appears to fix the issue, i am not suggesting people should try this, but ermmm sony, could you see if your brilliant devs could give this a go, and if they find it works, could you release an urgent fix to help us??

I will make sure this gets forwarded to concerned team and get back to you in the main topic as soon as I hear anything about this.

  • My ipod touch 4g, has a white spot on the screen when you turn it on, what is that and how do I fix it?

When you turn the ipod on, there is a noticeable white spot on the screen/display. Once all the apps come on you can't see it, but when it starts up you can.

From you descriptionis is hard to tell if it a atain on the outside of the screen or just what.  Have you tried cleaning the screeen as said in the users guide:
    Cleaning iPod touch
Clean iPod touch immediately if it comes in contact with any contaminants that may cause stains,
such as ink, dyes, makeup, dirt, food, oils, or lotions. To clean iPod touch, disconnect all cables and
turn off iPod touch (press and hold the On/Off button, then slide the onscreen slider). Then use a
soft, slightly damp, lint-free cloth. Avoid getting moisture in openings. Don’t use window cleaners,
household cleaners, compressed air, aerosol sprays, solvents, alcohol, ammonia, or abrasives to
clean iPod touch. Rubbing the screen with an abrasive material may scratch the glass.
For more information about handling iPod touch, see the iPod touch Important Product Information

  • White spots on the screen

Yesterday, I opened my Mac for the first time in a while and it was REALLY dusty so I sprayed it down with some canned air. I also replaced the second internal drive. Once I got the computer back up and running, I noticed there were little white spots on the desktop. Sometimes they are gray or red as well. The spots stay there until you move a window in front of them or a selection box around them. They sometimes appear in other programs, most notably DVD Player. Otherwise the computer is running fine. I'm worried that I sprayed dust into something or knocked something loose. Where should I start looking for problems? Apple's Hardware Test showed no hardware problems. Here's a screen grab of the issue:

I would like to inquire about how I could have my iPad 2 repaired or replaced. I bought it With a credit card via apple store website last June 19 of this year. At first, I already noticed a little white spot in the middle of the screen visible when the display on screen is dark. I thought this was okay. Now, My problem with it is that, it now has green discolorations at the center whenever the screen display is black or dark I.e. When a website's color is black or dark or whenever I go to the search interface.
    I am from the Philippines.
Please attend to this inquiry as promptly as possible. I'm sorry I have to send it here since I cannot see any email or inquiry page on the apple website. I also cannot reach the toll free number on my mobile phone.
    Thank you very much.

  • Bright white spots on the screen?

Hey guys, my iPhone has developed these two bright white spots on the screen. I don't think it's a hardware problem because they are not there for every application. But I have tried restarting it, completely resetting it, etc with no success. The problem is I bought in July 2007 so my warranty is up. Am I screwed?

You can also look at LCD replacement from outside repair companies like iResQ.com. If you're not sure what's going on with the spots, you can also get a diagnosis within 24 hours from them before you decide to repair or resell. Replacement can be had for $130, back to you the day after receiving your order. Also, their techs are Apple-certified. Check it out if you're still having problems:

  • White spot when unlock with Touch ID

When I unlock my iPhone 5s using touch ID there is white spot on the screen while unlock animation. If I enter password everything is ok.

    Hey elickson,
Thanks for the question. If I understand correctly, you are having trouble adding a fingerprint. I would recommend that you read this article, it may be able to help you isolate or resolve the issue.
Use Touch ID on iPhone and iPad - Apple Support
    Get help with Touch ID
Make sure that you're using the latest version of iOS.
Make sure that your fingers and the Home button are clean and dry.*
Cover the Home button completely. Don't tap too quickly, don't press down hard, and don't move your finger while Touch ID is scanning. Make sure that your finger touches the metal ring around the Home button.
If you're using a case or screen protector, make sure it doesn't cover the Home button or the surrounding ring. If it does, remove the case or screen protector and try again.
Tap Settings > Touch ID & Passcode and make sure that iPhone Unlock or iTunes & App Store is on. Also make sure that you've enrolled one or more fingerprints.
    Try enrolling a different finger.
If you can't enroll any of your fingers, take your device to an Apple Retail Store, Apple Authorized Service Provider, or contact AppleCare for help.

  • Several white spots in the middle of the display, please help!

    Hello!
I've already searched through the discussions and found some people with similiar display issues. But I just had to post this question because I'm panicing.
I turned on my MacBook Pro 1.83 (It's from July '06) today just to notice a white spot at the right center of the display. At first I thought it was just some smear from a fingertipp, but it wouldn't go away. So I changed my wallpaper from the colourful one I have to a solid light grey default wallpaper.
Then I noticed that I have 6 ! spots all forming a circle in the middle of the screen.
I've been treating my MacBook Pro like a baby and mostly at home. Right now I'm using it exclusively at home because it's now semester break for my University. So it wasn't moved. Just sitting on my desk.
Does anybody know if Apple will repair this? I'm still in the first year, obviously and have bought the Care Protection Plan. So I have 3 years.
Some of the people here and on the net seem to have theirs repaired under warranty. But with display, you never know what they'll say.
    Any help and answers appreciated!
    Greetings from Germany.
MacBook White 1,83 Ghz   Mac OS X (10.4.7)   Early model from July '06

I have now spoken to a local store which does repairs for Apple here.
(Funny thing: in Germany you can't send the Notebooks back to Apple for repairs anymore. You have to go to a Service Provider, which could be a problem outside of big cities.)
He's says it's a known problem which will be covered by the warranty:
so if this happen to any of you, don't panic like me: Apple will repair it.
Now I hope my replacement screen won't have any pixel failures.

  • 10.6.4 Update - White Spots On The Menu Bar

I updated to 10.6.4 and immediately after rebooting I noticed white spots in the upper right and left hand corners of the menu bar at the top of the screen. They were not there before the update. The spots are not present on the screen when shutting down or booting up. They are only present on the menu bar. Anybody else having this issue? I took a screen shot, but don't see an obvious way to attach to this post.

Wallpaper? Wallpaper? There ain't no stinkin wallpaper on a Mac running OS X. It uses desktop pictures! That's a windoze-centric term since they don't know how to make desktops, only walls that most can't break through.

  • IPhone 5S touch screen issues

Hi! I have a lot of issues with the touch screen of my iPhone 5S! the touch screen have areas without response! but not always the sames areas!
each picture represent the different areas without response in the touch screen! are not the same in some cases!
I´m writing from Argentina, so we don´t have apple store here to go to replace the cellphone or repair it! I could buy the whole touch screen and replace it by my self, but I don´t know if is only a problem with the touch screen or maybe an issue with the battery or other hardware components!
Sorry for my English! thank you in advance!

    Hi there Psycho_ar,
I would recommend taking a look at the troubleshooting steps found in the article below.

  • I have an ipod touch 3rd generation and the whole touch screen is not working.

I have a 32gb ipod which I bought for fifty dollars and when i bought it had a pretty baddly cracked screen but thing is it worked fine. Every part of the screen worked fine; it was as senstive where the screen was cracked as the areas of the screen that were not cracked. I dropped it a couple times from like two or three feet on two a hard wood floor about four times all it did was make the cracks on the screen a little worse. Then one day I dropped it from about a foot and now the whole touch screen is not working does anyone know why this is. They told me at the ipod store to get a new one would be 130 to trade mine in. But the thing is I very mechanically inclined and I am very good with electrionics; I was planing on buying the glass for fifty bucks and putting it on myself because I read how to do it and I am more then capapble of doing it. But now since the touch screen is now working; do I need a new screen along with a new glass? See the thing is because I think both those part cost 120 together. Which would not be worth me doing that when I can go to the ipod store and they would trade me a new one for 130 bucks. But the issue is, they told me at the ipod store they would have to look and see how damaged the ipod is to see if they will exchange it. My screen is severly cracked; also I have a dent that is a half inch long and 1/8th inch deep in the back of my ipod and its very scracthed up; do you thing an ipod store would exchange it in the condition it is in. Also has anybody had this problem before and I was wondering if it would be possible for me to take it apart and fix it my self without buying any new parts.

If I were you, I would pay the $130 for a replacement. Then you can be sure that it has all the working parts it needs.

  • White spot on my phone's screen

So last night I was playing some Peggle on my phone and I noticed that there was a white spot on the screen. It's not noticeable when watching videos, but it is really noticeable and distracting when I get to a dark scene in a movie or when I view pictures. This phone has not been dropped, hit, bumped, or anything similar. The phone is still under warranty, will apple repair/replace the screen for free or do I have to pay a fee?
Also: It is not a dead or a stuck pixel. It's a discoloration in part of the screen.
Message was edited by: Hi Im Sonic

If they consider it to be a defect then you'll get a replacement right away. When I got my first iPhone 4 I noticed a small black spec underneath the screen. It was well was not a stuck pixel but perhaps dust or metal. I was worried they would not replace it as you had to look to see it, but once you knew it was there it was all you could see.
Apple saw the spec and immediately replaced the phone. The lady said to me, "A defect is a defect."

  • WT10-A Touch screen Issues

I bought this less than a week ago and i am having issues with the touch screen. It just stops working all of a sudden for no reason and i have to restart to make it work. It will work fine for hours sometimes but sometimes i have to restart every five minutes. Can someone please help me solve this issue. ThanksKarman

I'm no scientist (although I did stay at a Holiday Inn Express)... but do you think that perhaps the touch screen issues a lot of folks are experiencing could be due to liquid evaporation? Maybe these people are leaving the iPhone in a hot car (or some other really warm place) for an extended period and not admitting it? I mean it is summertime.
Not liquid, but you could be onto something.
Heat is one of the few things that can cause a capacitive screen system go out of calibration, due to the effect on surrounding part specs. Perhaps that's what we're seeing.
I suppose someone with the problem could stick their phone in the refrigerator (not freezer!) for ten minutes and see if that cures their problem.
More likely, there are several different problems going on, and what works for one won't work for others.
My biggest suspicion is that a memory interface is on the edge (either power or timing), and thus weird glitches show up. Restorting the device only when it is fully charged might be one experiment. Give us a dozen bad devices, the source code, a lab with an ICE, and a coupla weeks... and we could figure out what's going on.
