White subfolders that don't show the messages in them

Question

I have some subfolders in folders in my Apple mail that are white vs. blue and though they supposedly have messages in them, nothing is visible. I imagine this is some throwback to eons ago when I made the transfer to OS X from OS 9 and using Eudora for my mail. Is there ANYthing I can do to finally get these folders in my Apple mail to reveal what's in there once and for all?

Well, yes, except that it doesn't show the location. See attached from Mac Help...

+Did you know that you can view an item's enclosing folder (and all of its content) directly in Spotlight (a Mac OS X 10.4 Tiger feature)? Just Command-click the item in the Spotlight search results window to view it in a Finder window!+
+Here's another way: Click Show All in the Spotlight search results list, select the item of interest in the resulting window, then press Command-R.+

The white folder does exist in the Mail folder, but that is where the problem lies. The files used to be stored in there when it was an mbox before it mysteriously turned white. Doing a search in the Mail app does not reveal the the mail messages that used to be contained therein, but doing a spotlight search does, showing that they are in some other directoryon the HD. Spotlight, however, absolutely does not reveal their location, unless there is a trick that I am not aware of....
