White Thumbnails

I'm trying to get a thumbnail from a movie clip and all I get is a white thumbnail. The original file is an AVID MXF 1:1x wrapped in a Quicktime (Quicktime Reference Movie). The proxy clip is generated by Compressor but it seems that Final Cut Server (if it's the one processing thumbnails) cannot generate thumbnail images from this "Wrapped" quicktime. If I convert the clip to H.264, thumbnail and proxy are fine. but I would need a thumbnail for both clip instead of a white frame.
Any workaround/ideas ?

The quicktime reference is an Export from an AVID station and files were ingested with the codec AVID 1:1. For the codec of the QT Ref, I'm not 100% sure how it works but the .mov file is 8kb, so it's just a link to the original MXF and if I get the info from the .mov, it says it's an Avid 1:1x codec. So is there another codec involved for QT reference, I don't think so...

You can upload images to MDM via the API, but the only way to create thumbnails is via the MDM Data Manager application which uses some embedded libraries to do the work.

CS2 + Bridge CS2 1.0.4.6 (104504) white thumbnails

Bridge CS2 displays only white thumbnails in all folders. Initial Desktop images show fine, but when changing to folders, all thumbnails are white boxes. Including when I go back to the Desktop - all thumbnails are white. Close Bridge and reopen and the Desktop thumbnails are fine again. Go to Folders, they're all white.
I have uninstalled and reinstalled, purged cache, tried everything I can find to get the thumbnails to display correctly - as they originally did. Sometime during an update things went bad.
Anyone have a solution please. isearched the forum and came up with nothing. I just can't stand going to the file open dialog box to open files instead of using Bridge as I have always done.

Content viewer white thumbnail instead of uploaded jpg thumbnail

When viewing my folio with Adobe Content Viewer running ios 6, I can seen the desired thumbnail image that I uploaded. However, when I view the same folio downloaded to an iPad running ios 7, there is a blank white icon where the uploaded jog should be. Please help!!!

When I launch the Adobe Content Viewer App on my iPad, I arrive at the content viewer homepage. This is the icon I am referring to. It is the Visual icon (thumbnail) for my folio.
To recap, I can see it on an iPad running ios 6, but not on an iPad running ios 7.

I recently reformatted my hard drive and reinstalled my programs, replacing Snow Leopard with Mavericks. I've downloaded the latest version of Camera RAW. In Bridge I now see my images as thumbnails without a problem. However thePreview view doesn't open; I just see blank thumbnails. Before everything worked fine. Any suggestions?

Thanks for the quick response, Pierre-Etienne. Something very strange is happening, but first let me answer your questions. After I reinstalled PS CS6 on my MacBook Pro (whose HD I had just reformatted under Mavericks) two days ago, I got a message from the Adobe Notifier or whatever it's called, telling me that there were a number of updates available for my Adobe products. I downloaded and installed them; I think a Bridge was included. I got an error message concerning 3 updates, including Camera RAW, so I went and got them by hand. The most recent ACR version seemed to be 6.7, bundled with DNC converter 8.3, which I installed, and then this morning when I ran across the problem I wrote about I did a new download, this time of the latest stand-alone version of ACR. I believe it was also 6.7, but when I open a file now in Camera RAW it gives the ACR version as 8.3. A bit confusing. You ask, where? In France, where I live, but from the English language site.
Now here's the strange thing. I just came back from some very intensive work at an international conference, where over the course of 5 days I took almost 8000 pictures. I use the star sytem in Bridge to rate the pictures (in this case 0 to 3 stars). Within each star folder there are subfolders for the different days, and then sub-subfolders for the various events each day - all in all, quite a few folders. This morning I was looking at the pictures in a particular folder, and the phenomenon that I wrote about occured: no preview image. I just checked, and it turns out that that is the only folder out of over 200 so affected! All the other pictures open normally, in all star level folders, on all days, at all events. What an amazing coincidence!
So I guess I don't in fact have a major problem. I have a minor problem involving one particular folder. The only question remaining is why that particular folder, and could it happen again?

White thumbnails in Library module (CC 2015)

hi, with the new version of Lightroom (CC 2015) I've got a very annoying problem: some miniature in the library module is totaly white, the picture doesn't exist for LR, but the picture really exist in their original folder. someone can give me some help? Thanks

Someone on another thread suggested this work around.
"Instead of exporting from your "Develop" module, try exporting from the "Library" module. I just tried this and it worked with no issues."

Missing thumbnails showing up as white boxes

I have completed transferring in my Aperture library, but the majority of the thumbnails are now empty white boxes! Clicking on them reveals the correct photo, but I am still left with a blank white thumbnail.
Any suggestions beyond repairing the library, which I have already tired?

had the same problem and repairing the library doesn't fix it either as before with iPhoto. If your thumbnails haven't shown up by now you can regerate it by renaming the thumbnails folder/deleting it.
Quit Photo
Open Finder and Go to Pictures folder > find the Photo's Library icon
Right click or two finger tap if you have a trackpad
Select show package contents
Find the Thumbnails folder rename to .old or delete it by right clicking or two finger tap on the thumbnail folder.
Relaunch Photo's and the Thumbnails folder slowly increase in size as it regenerates all the thumbnails.
If you have a large library it can take a while but thats what I did to get it fixed for me.

Blank thumbnails in iPhoto; photos (zero KB) in iphoto library folder?

Upon opening iphoto recently; 90% of my photo's (2,500) appear as blank/white thumbnails. If I select one of these photo's it gives the proper photo info (name, file size, etc..) but no photo. When I check the iLibrary folder, these same photos display zero KB. I have attempted a rebuild that was unsuccessful. I have not messed around with the iLibrary folder and am confused as why this happened. Any thoughts/ideas on how to fix??? Thank you.

You can follow the instructions above to create a new library and import the images from the old library to see if you get all your images back.
You can first try this tip from Old Toad:
There is a way you can recover your library. Here's what I developed and it worked for me. But make a backup copy of your iPhoto Library folder beforehand just in case:
How to recover those photos lost due to renaming in the Finder1 - do a search of just the iPhoto library folder with the following criteria:
File name contains ".jpg" (or .psd) and File size is less than 1 KB. (You can just do a search for File size less than 1 kb but do not delete the other zero sized files that are of a non image type).
That will find all of those zero sized files that were created when iPhoto couldn't fine the originals.
2 - move those zero sized image files to the trash.
3 - now delete those "bad" photos from the iPhoto library using the normal method within iPhoto (if you don't they will be recovered every time you do a library rebuild with the "recover orphaned photos" option selected).
4 - launch iPhoto with the Command+Option keys depressed and when the rebuild menu comes up select the last option, "Recover orphaned photos in the iPhoto Library folder".
This will recover those renamed files and put then in a new roll. The only downside is that their titles in iPhoto will be "Roll xx-1, etc. You can do a Get Info on them, find the actual file name and change the title so they are the same.
So it can be done with a little work.
The only way to rename files that have already been imported into iPhoto is to export them to the desktop, rename them there and then reimport. Once imported you can delete the original set.

Displaying colored thumbnail as playhead reaches certain labels

Hi All,
I am doing a simple slideshow where I have 2 sets of thumbnails, one in b/w and another in color. I have hidden the colored thumbnails using the display:none and will only appear when I move the mouse over on the black and white thumbnails.
I have written the mouseover and mouseout and everything seemed fine in what I am going to display. I have also created several labels so that when the user clicks on the thumbnails, it will jump to a specific label. However, as the slideshow animates to show the different large images, I want the associated thumbnail to become colored, what I had done is to retrieve the label position using these codes :

I have inserted into the CompositionReady event but when I play the composition within the browser, the colored thumbnail does not show. What happens? Did I insert in the correct event? FireFox 7 displays YouTube related videos thumbnails in small scrolling list with blank thumbnails.

FireFox 6 used to display them just like IE and other browsers... in a long list to the right of the video. Now there is a small list only 5 thumbnails high (which makes it a scrolling nightmare) and only the first 10 thumbnails have pictures, the rest are blank white thumbnails. I'd hate to revert back to using IE but if this isn't acknowledged and fixed soon I'll have no choice. It's driving me nuts. I was really starting to like FireFox. Too bad I can't attach a screenshot as it would be easier than explaining it.

No, nothing changes. It reloads still telling me to join. I tried it in the latest Safari as well, but no dice. My default browser is Chrome, but I've been trying everything that doesn't work in Chrome in Safari because I might as well, right?
I mean clearly it's an issue with my Mac, because if it were just a browser thing, YouTube would be working in other browsers, and if it were a YouTube thing it'd be happening to everyone else, and if it were a connection thing it'd be happening to everyone else on my connection, but it's not so it must be my Mac but then...you know...what is it? Apart from YouTube and the weird images thing, which seems to be a recent development, I haven't noticed any other symptoms.
But the YouTube page won't even load properly for me all the way. It's not limited to the video, it's the entire page refusing to load any images or anything other than plain text. Except, bizarrely, the login page, which looks just fine.

Why did bridge color my black and white photo?

I click on the black and white thumbnail and the preview was changed to color, and if you open the .nef file in PS.CS3 it opens it up in color! I don't remember asking to have my B&W photos colored. I looked in the help documentation but Black, White and Black and White are found! Please help.

This is weird.

NEFs are RAW image files. They contain all of the data your camera captured, which means color. When you use the camera controls to set the image to sepia, b/w, etc., that only affects JPEG files and the JPEG thumbnail that initially shows up in Bridge before Bridge builds its own.

Some panoramas showing 'white' on iPhone 5 on iOS 7

They show as a white thumbnail on 'Photos' and when you click on them the screen goes all white. It started happening with iOS 7.0.1 and still happens on 7.0.3. Same thing happens on iPhoto. These are pictures sync'd via itunes from a folder on my PC. The panoramas have been stiched up with Photoshop, but many older panoramas that display fine have also been created with Photoshop.
The same pictures, display perfectly on my iPad 3 which is on iOS 6.
Anyone having the same issue or able to help, please?

I have tried but all has failed.
If there is a helpline for Apple, I would call them.
I tried all avenues including video tutorials - all failed.

I clicked the brush tool, then clicked on color swatch that brought me to the colors and clicked OL... but not able to get the color I need.

Well if I follow him, he creates an Exposure Adjustment Layer.
Then he cranks up the Exposure, lightening the entire body, which he does not want. It's only the head.
So leaving the Exposure set to where he put it, he selects that adjustment layer, clicks on that white thumbnail mask first, then paints
using the brush and black. What this does is "hides" or Masks the exposure effect where he paints, it doesn't paint the picture black.
He finds having to "mask" the entire body a lot of work. So he changes the mask to black by inverting it, and changes the swatch to white.
Then being sure the black mask thumbnail is selected, he paints the head with the white color, punching a hole in the mask so the exposure setting comes through on the face.
Does that make sense?

IPhone 6 iOS 8.1 - Photos blank / preview corrupt after restore from backup

Hello,
I just restored from a recent backup of an iPhone 5s @iOS 8.1 (from today) to a new iPhone 6, also on iOS 8.1.
Everything else is ok, except the photo library. Only those images that have been edited within in iPhone 5s stock photos app over the last few months do not show up in the iPhone 6 library. The total number of images, videos etc shows up as exactly the same on both devices.
In thumbnail view, they're just white boxes. When I click on the white thumbnail, I can see the intended image for less than a second before it turns into a blank white image again. Interestingly, if I try and revert the image to its original version (as clicked by the iPhone 5s, before it was edited in-app), the image becomes viewable again.
I could do this if it were just a few images, but there are far too many of these scattered around in my photo library for this approach to be convenient.
I have tried restoring from the same back up again, no luck. I even deleted the backup from iTunes, made a fresh back up of the iPhone 5s and tried restoring to the iPhone 6 - no luck.
Is there anyway to force rebuild the photo library? Will that help?
Or should I delete all data and settings from the iPhone 6 and start over again ?
Any clues?

OK I was able to fix the issue.
Just in case this helps anyone:
I used iExplorer and navigated to the "PhotoData" folder. I backed up and then deleted the following data files form this folder:
1) com.apple.photos.caches_metadata.plist
2) PhotosAux.sqlite
3) Photos.sqlite
Then I quit the Photos App, hard reset the iPhone and reopened the Photos App. It took a while to rebuild the photo library, but everything seems to be back to normal now.

Problem synching photos from PC to iPad air. Using iTunes it gives me option when I connect iphone to synch from ' my photos' however with the iPad it just gives me option one folder at a time. And once it has synch it if I try to synch another it just

Hi I'm not very computer literate so pls be gentle! I bought an iPad air two days ago and synch my photos using iTunes just fine.
Today for some reason I noticed all these white thumbnails on my laptop in the photos section. Stupidly I deleted all 600 of them and all my photis on the iPad immediately vanished. Later I restored the photos from the recycling bin to my photos
However now I try to re synch them there is no option to synch from ' my pictures' just each little folder ( whereas before I had a drop down box and could select which folders I wanted) however when I synch iphone it does offer the option
Anyway even if I synch each folder it will kep replacing the last one so I can only ever have one folder of photos on the iPad if u see?
How can I transfer my photos please?
And how can I get the option back of the drop down box and tick as many folders as I want?
