White zen mi

i was wondering if they made any changes in the production of the s. i just received mine back today from RMA and man o man are the lights bright lol. before on my original one it use to be just the lining around the player that shown out like all the others. this time around if its dark its like the whole face glows light blue lol. personally i think its cool and all its like i have 2 colours in one. even in the light you can still see a hint of blue shinning throught the whole face. just wondering if anyone else's is like that. if you want to see pix i'll be happy to post incase you dont get what i'm saying. soooo glad to have a micro again, its been too long

thanks for the heads up. i'm now undecided on which i liked better - it glows just sooo **bleep** bright lol

  • Just got my white Zen MicroPhoto (warning: large pi

    I finally got my white Zen MicroPhoto in from Singapore yesterday (I'm in the USA).
    Overall I am very impressed and so far, the only thing that I have found that I'm not really fond of is the size/shape of the screen. It is definitely more of a square than a rectangle, which leads to more of the song info being cut off as opposed to the regular Zen Micro.
    The sides and back (battery cover) are now made out of annodized metal instead of plastic. And the hold button, usb port, and headphone jack all seem a lot more sturdy, but at this point in time I'm not willing to do any further testing on that (especially the headphone jack) for obvious reasons.
    Also, there is a piece of paper in the box that says the PlaysForSure feature will be available soon via a firmware download.
    Feel free to ask me any questions and I will answer them to the best of my ability.
    Cheers, Alex

    Yup, I had a 5gb Zen Micro, one of the first ones that came out (and I didn't start having the headphone jack problem with mine until about 0 months after owning it). I cannot notice a difference between the sound quality but I will say the sound quality is greatly affected by which headphones you are using. When switching between the stock head phones and a pair of iPod Headphones, the iPod headphones sounded slightly better but the volume was much lower. I've honestly never listened to any other current MP3 players so I can't make a good comparison there, but I will say there is little if no difference in sound quality between the Zen Micro and the Zen MicroPhoto. I do not find the OLED screen to be dim at all, it's bright enough to be read in almost any condition I've used it in so far. The screen looks very nice, it's not anything spectacular but it shows photos quite nicely, minus the fact that the screen is a little square. I would probably rate it around an 8 but I'm going to take a look at my friends iPod Photo on Monday and see if i can compare.

  • Universal Travel Adapter for the Zen Mi

    I'm planning on ordering a 6GB white Zen Micro from the Creative store soon and hopefully getting it in time for my trip to Germany and France this July - so I've also been looking at the Uni'versal Travel Adapter in the Creative store also. But I have a few questions about it...
    Since the normal power adapter seems to be out of stock for the time being, I was planning on just using the USB charger with my computer to recharge *while I have the player in the US* - which is really no big deal - but does the uni'versal travel adapter offered *need* the "regular" power adapter too, or does it plug straight into the micro and then into the wall without it's
    Also, will the uni'versal power adapter work in France and Germany? (I'm pretty sure it will, I'm just asking because I don't want any nasty surprises!)
    Thanks for your help, I'm a terrible n00b to the whole mp3 player thing period - but I feel better asking.

    The travel adapter doesn't need the other charger also, it's stand-alone.
    It will work in France and Germany.
    Really all the travel adapter is, is the original adapter with different sockets. If the other adapter were available you can get this and buy a travel socket.

  • Zen V Plus - different device in explorer than the last t

    Hello to everyone
    when i install my zen v for the first time, it was visible in my computer as device in category "other devices" (or something similiar - im not sure) with "looks_like_zen" white icon and signed as my device name and i didnt had to use any additional software to upload music into it. when zen was plugged into pc the status on screen was "docked" or "docking" - again, i dont remember now, after clean system installation i've tried to install my zen and now its visible as "Creative Zen V Plus" in category "audio devices" with windows based player icon. well - i still can upload music using default windows explorer, but the player acts strange when its connected to pc - screen is blinking and switching between normal menu view and docking information. im sure it shouldnt be like that. how can i fix it's i've tried to reset zen, format his dri've and reinstall the firmware by using recovery mode.
    my system is windows xp media center 2005 sp2 and i have 4gig zen v plus

  • The Zen Micro wired remote: Many raves, two small ra

    Just got my eagerly-anticipated white Zen Micro remote!! Here's my two cents:
    Pros:
    . Nice look that matches the design of the unit itself very well.
    2. Definitely makes life easier in terms of controlling the unit while staying acti've.
    3. Minimalist with all of the important functions built into a small, elegant design.
    4. I like that there's a button to quickly switch between mp3 and radio modes.
    5. I like that the play button, when held down, functions as an on/off switch.
    Cons:
    . The clip is well-designed from the perspecti've that it's not likely to slip off after it's on. Unfortunately, it should have been a teeny bit wider because it doesn't work on anything but the thinnest cloth, which is especially tragic since this novel design would have let Creative make it as wide as they want without hurting its effecti'veness!
    2. Why did I have to figure out for MYSELF that the play button doubles as an on/off switch? The documentation (or lack thereof): the remote only includes a little diagram with a button legend. Said legend doesn't really say anything about the buttons except the obvious. Hmmm, I wonder what the "mode" button does, since on the actual device "play mode" lets me go from regular play to shuffle to repeat etc.... let's consult the manual. Ummm yep it seems that the "mode" button does... modes. Great.
    These two rants -- which in no way are recommendations not to buy the remote -- are indicators of the same feeling that possessed me when I wrote my previous rants about the Zen Micro itself -- deep, intense, frustration. Frustration at what appears to be a trend with Creative: <i>a non-user-oriented mindset</i>. The kind of mindset that thinks, "why bother with the kind of details that won't actually prevent anyone from buying the device?" Like, who would care about a crappy manual for a $20 remote? I mean, we'll all figure out how it works in no time, right? I mean, in the worst case, the hidden on/off function will be like a cool Easter egg waiting to be found.
    - sigh -
    I realize these small rants constitute the large majority of my post but guess what? It's a remote. It works. There isn't too much else to say about it. Or, at least, that's how it <i>should</i> be.

    I didn't know that about the play/pause button or the mode button. When I pushed play/pause it just paused and when I pushed mode it went to FM. I assumed that is all they did, lol! For me the clip is of little consequence because it is almost allways in my pocket or bag and I operate it by feel. Perhaps they figured that everyone li'ves in a warm climate and wears thin clothing? You are so right in saying the instruction manual is something less than stellar. I am not sure why they even bothered to waste the paper and ink! Come to think of it, the Micro's documentation led something to be desired too. Thanks for the tips!!!

  • ZEN MICRO FRO

    Hey Forum
    I've had my cute little white zen micro for almost a year now. We were the perfect couple, we went everywhere together. It went with all my clothes, it seemed to never run out of space, it fit snugly in all my jeans, we were so happy, but then, about a month ago, shock! horror! my little zen died on me I was walking down the street and as I changed a song it froze and then went blank. Since then I haven't been able to get it to work, all it does is display the 'creative' logo and then just illuminates a bit and thats it. I don't know whether its a common problem or not? If anyone else has experienced this kind of thing, please reply, the player is going to run out of its warranty in less than a month! PLEASE HELP !Thanksanna

  • Zen MicroPhoto firmware differen

    I have a white Zen MicroPhoto from Singapore with a firmware version of .00.07. My friend has an American grey Zen MicroPhoto that he got from Best Buy the other day and it has a firmware version of .0.0. Does anyone (hopefully a mod) know what the differences between the firmwares are? I noticed the firmwares aren't on the downloads section of the American or Singaporean Creative websites. I also noticed the American version comes with a Play-for-Sure CD so I'm thinking the difference is that the American version supports Play-for-Sure but I would just like to confirm this. Thanks, Alex

    As a rule, there are no national differences in Creative firmware other than government-mandated ones (mainly volume limits in EU countries). The only caveat is that if you download another firmware with the exact same version number (mainly Europeans defeating said volume limits with non-EU firmware), you must go into recovery mode and choose "Reload OS" (or "Reload Firmware") to wipe out the old one before installing the new one. Since it's been reported US MicroPhotos have a different firmware version than Singaporean ones, that shouldn't be an issue.
    That said, I'd check Creative Singapore first, since they may post the revised firmware only there, and wait for other changes to update the US MicroPhoto firmware. (US Sleeks got a firmware update about the same time as European ones; but the downloaded firmware both places added Audible support, which wasn't in the original US firmware, as well as MTP/Janus.)

  • Brothers a new Zen Micro owner. He has a few battery questions..

    Hey all,
    I convinced my older bro to get a white Zen Micro, and he has a few questions. I answered most of them, but afterwards, he went online, and found info that told him otherwise (from what I told him, which is what I read here at the forums). Here are his questions....
    . Is it safe to leave the Zen Micro charging overnight?
    I told him yes, that it was. Someone from Creative here at the forums said that it would "turn off" automatically. He went into the Creative "Knowledge Base", and found this: http://dmzweb4.europe.creative.com/SRVS/CGI-BIN/WEBCGI.EXE/,/?St=732,E=00000000000490764,K=5277,Sxi=0,Kb=ww_eng lish,VARSET=ws:http://us.creative.com/,Case=obj(669),Kb=ww_english
    2. When charging the Micro, does the adapter/charger go by a set timer, or charge accordingly to how full the battery already is?
    Thanx in advance .

    i've left mine plugged in a few times and have NEVER noticed any type of heat build up. it usually shuts off after full charging and then cools down after that. maybe i'm killing my battery, maybe not who knows. i have some players that don't automatically shut off and i've noticed those DO get heat build up and i never leave those plugged in but with my zen xtra and micro it *appears* that the shut off feature prevents the heat buildup....that being said, the micro's owners manual says DON'T leave it plugged in or it will get heat buildup....who knows.

  • Zen Micro Photo Recovery Mode Problem !! Help needed plea

    I just purchased a white zen micro photo last week. As I was putting music onto my ZMP, my computer ( Dell Windows XP ) froze. I disconnected my player and when I went to turn on my ZMP, I found out that it went into Recovery Mode. I tried all the possible ways that it listed to do.
    Clean Up (when I pressed that one, nothing happened .. the screen didn't even change)</LI>
    Format All (When I pressed that one, the screen seemed to .. freeze .. but it had a smear of lines .. ?)</LI>
    Reload Firmware (I never had firmware on my ZMP to begin with)</LI>
    Reboot (It turned off and It turned back on like it's supposed to but when it turned back on, it was in recovery mode again)</LI>
    My ZMP does not even turn off. This is wasting the battery so please help me. I have emailed Creative but they have not replyed yet.

    You must have had firmware on there if it worked, but "reload firmware" actually erases the firmware. It's a badly named function.
    Unfortunately though you've tried all you can as a user. The player sounds faulty and you ought to contact Creative support for a replacement.

  • Zen Micro PROBL

    <SPAN>
    <SPAN>I bought my Zen Micro after seeing it at Digital Media show. I have had nothing but problems with this player and rudeness of Creative support staff is out of this world. I followed all the suggestions about charging the battery. Charging it for more than 3 hours for the first time; draining the battery and charging it again. Overall the battery looses power with in 5 to 6 hours with NO backlight, 30% contrast with no activity such as forward and reverse or looking up songs. <SPAN>Battery<SPAN> life is nothing compared to 2 hours advertised by Creative.
    <SPAN>
    <SPAN>Every time I called support, there is some college kid who sounds high and says to download the latest firmware. Creative can do a little better job in training their support staff.
    <SPAN>
    <SPAN>I am planning to send mine back to Creative to get it checked out.
    <SPAN>
    <SPAN>If you got this player for XMAS do not open it, return it and look at alternati'ves, or wait for the 2nd generation of this player when creative can deli'ver a clean product.<SPAN>
    <SPAN>
    <SPAN>Creative should make it clear that 2 hour battery life is combined battery life of 2 batteries that they supplying. LOL

    I just sent my Micro back for replacement. I decided to give them another chance even though I had a faulty product right out of the box. If you think about it they may have sold somthing like 00,000 Micros and lets say only 00 ( Estimated from the number of people on the forum posting) have been defecti've. A .% defect rate is something that borders on insignificant. If this number is in the thousands then a real problem emerges for Creative, and more importantly for it's customers. I will give them the benefit of the doubt while keeping a watchful eye out for any devoloping trends. I bought a white zen micro on the 8th from Creative's website. The only complaint I had abou the tech support was the fact that you cannot access it through a -800 number. Its a 402 area code which is in friggin' Nebraska! Otherwise they were nothing steller and didn't put me through too much trouble to get it sent back.

  • Zen Nano Plus 256MB lost co

    Hi. I lost...or should I say I dropped the battery casing for my White Zen Nano Plus into the drain..*ouch* Does anyone know how I can get a replacement cover. I am living in Singapore..thanks.

    Why have you bumped this - the answer given above is a good one?
    Contact Support via email, tell them the clip at the end broke and they will send you out a new one. It is a known problem that these clips are weak so they don't seem to quibble about replacing them.

    That shouldn't happen, and does indeed sound like a hardware fault. Contact Customer Support for assistance on this.

  • Creative's customer service will definitely not get a GEMs card from

    I sent my creative zen micro for repair on the 3rd of feburary 2006. The woman at the counter said that she will replace for me a brand new model but there is currently no stock available, but she will call me once the stock arri'ves and it should be at the end of the month. Being anxious, I called on the 5th of feb, and the man on the line said that my mp3 will be ready at the end of the next week. On the 23rd of Feb, i called again as they did not inform me if new stock had arri'ved or not. The man on the phone said that it will defnitely be ready on the 2nd of March and I can collect it then. Today is the st of feb, so i called to ensure tomorrow will not be a wasted trip. The man on the line said that unfortunately it is not ready but he will call customer care immediately to check its progress but he has yet to return my call. What should i do?I've been waiting for almost fi've weeks, and i don't know what else to do.

    This morning at am, i called the creative care cutomer support. His name was Kendrick and he told me that black and white would not be available for the next few months and if i like i could take another colour. I went to the Creative Customer care at jurong today at .5pm. I insisted on seeing the customer care manager or supervisor. The woman at the information booth said that he was out at lunch and will return at about 2.5pm. At 2.5 pm, the Creative customer care advisor came to see me and he asked what the problem was. He said that the manager had not returned from lunch. And he wanted to relay the problem to the manager first, and i told him what happened. At 2.45 pm, the Creative Customer care Manager returned from lunch and i told him what had happened. He said that Adeline ( the woman who was behind the counter on 3rd feb ) made a mistake. She should have told me that the policy is that if the device is not ready within the next two weeks, i could take another colour. But i spoke to many people on the phone, how come not one person told me that?The creative customer care manager said that black is?available and i could have it if i want. I asked about the warranty and he told me that he would add on the time where my zen micro was under servicing. I insisted that i have a copy of the warranty, but i forgot to take it when i left. I would like to request for them to send it to me as soon as possible. So, i waited fi've weeks for my white zen micro , and today i return with a black zen micro. There?must be?something wrong with the Creative Customer Care Serivce. Suggestions:- Ensure that each customer care centre consultant is sure about the policies.- Managers and supervisors should not take lunch breaks from to 3pm, because thats the time when customers are there and they are most needed.

  • Plays For Sure Firmware h

    Hi i am currently an owner of a 6gig white Zen Micro and i love it to pieces. In order for me to use Napster with it i have to download "plays for sure" firmware. But the problem lies here, i was an owner of a silver 5gig micro a few months back until the famous problem with headphone socket and that one had the firmware downloaded then and I hated it! It put all my music into subfolders on the device and left huge blank spaces on the lists instead of the <unkown> part. I dont want that hapening again.
    Will that happen again or is there a way of keeping the old functions of my new player the same and still use napster?
    Thanks in advance!:smileyvery-happy:

    This is the same problem I am having only now it is worse. It completly froze with error meesage of firmware error and wouldnt be recognized by the pc he I plugged it in. So I searched the boards and found info about safe mode. when I went into safe mode and went thru the steps for clean up it stayed in firmware error. I did each of hte steps till it left me with no other choice but to reformat and redownload the firmware. It looked as tho everything was loading ok but it has been connected for over 2 hours and still sitting and says upgradig fimware but not moving anywhere. I am not sure what to do next? Any help will be greatly appreciated.

  • Creative Zen 32GB White Screen

    I've started having a problem in the last 2 days with my Creative Zen 32GB. I've had the player since July 2010. The only problems I've really had with the player have been some minor freeze-ups, but other than that, everything else has been smooth sailing.
    The other day, my player froze up to a black screen while the power-on button was still on. I let the battery run out as I didn't have anything near by to help reset the player. I charged the unit some and tried turning on the player, but I had to still reset the player. I then began getting a white screen. After another hard reset and plugging in my USB to charge it, it came back on, but I've been having problems keeping a charge on the player. I charged the player to 100% and turned it off, but the next morning when I tried to turn it on, it was dead again.
    Is this a problem with the battery? My player isn't under warranty anymore, but I like it and want to keep it. I just want to make sure this is the problem before I start asking for repairs or anything. Anybody else had problems with this?

    Tried charging it with 2 cables. I think the battery just can't hold its charge anymore. It'll hold for about 12-16 hours, but when I wake up the next morning and try to turn it on, it's dead.
    What's the best way about getting this replaced? Is it possible to still pay for Creative to service it (since it's out of warranty), and if not, is there anywhere else I can send this to get it serviced?
