My dongle is not working with compaq 610
Hi,
I have Compaq 610 laptop which is around 2 year old and it is working fine. Last week i brought "Micromax MMX352 3G USB dongle" but is is not working on my laptop.
Problem is that when i put dongle inside USB port, first it appears that laptop has detected the USB and try to install all dongle related software (automatically from Dongle stick) but suddenly (during installation), after around 1 min, USB sign disappears from laptop desktop and from device manager and after few second USB sign appears again in both laptop desktop and device manager. This process continue indefinatly.
Because of this Dongle is not able to connect as it shows message that "No device".
I have tryed the same USB dongle in different desktop (assembled and other company) and laptops (other company like HCL) and it is working fine.
Normal Usb stick (Pen drive) working fine on my laptop.
I have tried everything like:
1) Check device manager and uninstall "USB mass storage devide" (comes after putting USB dongle in USB port) and then USB dongle start installing automatically same process happens as described above.
2) Check the bios for USB port status and it is On.
3) Also disable windows firewall
4) Disable Virus protection software.
any help pls....
my E-mail: {Personal Information Removed}Hello ashishgarg
What model laptop do you have? When I search for the Compaq 610 I see several laptops and want to make sure I provide correct steps for your model.
How Do I Locate the Model Number on the Service Tag
Since the USB dongle works on other computers the problem seems unlikely to be a problem with the dongle. Have you tried a different USB port on the laptop? Also are you using any type of HUB or docking station to attach the dongle? Based on your description it sounds like midway during installation the device is “disconnected” and “reconnected” to the computer.
I have experienced a similar problem on my own personal laptop where sometimes dongles that are large, aren’t held well enough in the USB port. This can be for multiple reasons. One case I had was the USB dongle was a bit heavy. As a result the contacts would disconnect as its weight pulled it down. In my case the solution was to put something on under the dongle to “hold it up”. This prevented the disconnecting.
Don't forgot to say thanks by giving "Kudos" to those that help solve your problems.
When a solution is found please mark the post that solves your issue. -
Compaq 610 wireless problem (Broadcom 14e4:4315)
I can't get the wireless working, well I can get it up, but it doesn't see any networks. I tried the b43, which should work according to the link on the wiki page and it does work with b43 on the Manjaro livecd. Nice distro btw for the point and clickers, slick and fast. can be a big one when matured. Beats the hell out of *buntu distros in speed. But I am more a keyboard guy. And I want to make the software selection myself. For me just plain Arch. Back to the topic now.
I also tried the fallback, broadcom-wl, which works great on the Archbang live cd. I can't get it working in Arch.
I installed Arch several years ago on a Samsung netbook, when it died I moved the hd into an old Sony Vaio and that laptop died to, so I moved the drive into this Compaq 610. So maybe I inherited some messed up settings from that. I don't know. But I want to fix this installation. It has worked for a while. A couple of days. But I can't remember what I did exactly when it stopped working. After an update or after installing/removing packages. Anyway... now it's not working anymore. And tethering via my phone is not comfortable.
The result from wifi-menu: no networks found.
Where can I look for a problem? I didn't see anything weird in the output from lsmod and systemctl. There is also no mentioning that the card isn't detected or not working properly in the command I try. It just doesn't see other networks. Is there any logfile somewhere where I could find a hint of what is wrong?
Is this a known problem that is just the result of a bug in the bleeding edge version of some package? Like the kernelbug that prevents the laptop from shutting down on hp laptops (Compaq is just hp). That one is solved already and will be in the next kernel version. But I haven't found anything about my wireless card the BCM4312.
Can anybody give me a hint where to look to find the cause of this problem? I get no error messages, so I don't know where to look.Gusar wrote:rmmod-ing rfkill isn't how you unkill a device. You unkill it by... unkilling it. Using the rfkill utility.
Sorry, that was nonsense. I tried a lot and didn't look into my terminal history... anyway rfkill doesn't seem to be the problem.

Most of the times when I do 'sudo ip link set wlan0 up' or 'sudo ifconfig wlan0 up' no nothing is returned to the terminal but with dmesg the following error can be found
IPv6: ADDRCONF(NETDEV_UP): wlan0: link is not ready
But not always. Sometimes it goes just up as intended. For a while... until I think that I can use it to make a connection. Nothing to standard output but dmesg reveals:
wlan0: deauthenticating from 01:23:45:67:89:ab by local choice (reason=3)
Well... I didn't make the choice, but it seems something did. An kernel module or service?

But what is the source of the problem? And how do I find it. Is there a way to to find out which service/module/program/whatever is preventing my wifi from working and shuts it down as soon as it's seem to work for a few2 seconds?

plzz help me out..
This question was solved.
View Solution.I would need to examine it to see if there is an issue with the charging port but a really dead battery can make it seem as if the charger is not working right. If you can describe the problem perhaps we can troubleshoot the AC adapter a little more. If you are willing to accept a non-genuine "compatible" battery they are very cheap.
Used Genuine
New Genuine but shipped from China
New Genuine from U.S.
New "compatible" from US
A wide range of choices.

Compaq 610 fd Battery replacement
I've got my compaq 610 fd Battery( 6-cell , Model no - HSTNN-LB51) replaced by HP 6800s/6700s 8-cell NB battery. Is it okay to replace 6-cell battery by 8-cell. Is there any type of risk such damage of parts
This question was solved.
View Solution.Hi,
Each battery has a label with information on it. Please check to see:
(a) Physically fit, make sure it won't cause damage to all connectors,
(b) Voltage: must be the same or no more than 5% both sides,
For wattage, normally a 8-cell battery is higher than a 6-cell battery and that is ok.
Regards.

hp compaq 610 plugged in , not charging, btt problem or card problem
Hi voke,
I understand that your built-in speaker is not working on your HP 610 Compaq but your Notebook is a commercial product. I am sorry, but to get your issue more exposure I would suggest posting it in the commercial forums. You can do this at HP Enterprise Business Community.
I hope this helps.
Good Luck,

"invalid serial number" error on Compaq 610 Laptop. How d I correct this?
I changed the LCD screen for Compaq 610 laptop but it now displays "invalid serial number" & cant see HDD & CDROm. When I go into bios, only the tag and not serial input is showing. I put back the old screen but its behaving the same. What should I do?
Hi AbbyR,
Welcome to Adobe Forum
I can see that you have upgrade version of Acrobat pro 11, it is asking for previous qualifying serial number, a case has been assigned regarding this 0212208202.
I am going to mail you the serial number required & which is registered under your email ID. Please enter that serial number & let me know if it worked.

My compaq 610 laptop wont boot up.
I have a compaq 610 laptop model # CPQ610UT1500Q5X250MBNNCN22Xa
p/n: FNO13UT#ABA
s/n: [Personal Information Removed]
Windows 7
It will not boot up.
The compaq logo comes up briefly with F9 F10 & F12 options then it goes to a black screen and i get two codes PXE-E61: media test failure, check cable and PXE-MOF: exiting PXE rom.
Then the screen changes and says "Non-System disk or disk error replace and strike any key".
At this point all keys are non-responsive and all i can do is turn off with power button.
Is this something i need to replace is there a fix i can do?
Thank You for any help.HIi , Thank you for visiting the HP Support Forums and Welcome. I have read about your HP Notebook and getting a blank or black screen on startup. Try performing a hard reset. When performing a hard reset please note remove any and all USB devices. Disconnect all non-essential devices.
Here is a link to computer won't start for Windows 7. I would be happy to assist if needed. How Do I Find My Model Number or Product Number?
Please let me know.

Hello, I wonder if i can upgrade my laptop with a GPU, my laptop model is Compaq 610.
If it is possible please prefer me a few GPUs which is compatible with Compaq 610.
Thanks,Constantine.Sorry the graphics is part of the whole motherboard; soldered on. There is no way to improve the graphics performance by adding some sort of additional card or chip. Perhaps there is a higher-end motherboard available depending on which version of the 610 you have but once people figure out how expensive it is to replace a whole motherboard on a laptop we rarely get anyone who actually does it. We would need the full part number of the laptop to figure what graphics chip you have now and if there is a motherboard with a stronger one.
