Whitelist Help

Our messages to verizon.com recently starting being blocked by Verizon's online anti-spam system.  I submitted a whitelist request via http://www.verizon.net/whitelist and we were rejected due to "Your IP has been blocked because of spam issues or because your ISP indicates that it is dynamically assigned"  Our IP addres is not dynamically assigned and we do not send out unsolicited email.  Our reverse DNS entries are correct, we use a 1024 bit DMIK, our SPF records are correct and http://mxtoolbox.com/ reports that we not not listed on any of the 87 blacklists that they check.
How do we get removed from Verizon's anti-spam system?

  • Upgrading Broadband to 40GB

I haven't had any broadband service for a good 3 weeks as it has been very inconsistant (unusable infact.)  I usually have my laptop and games console connected to it.  After investigating the problem, I was able to connect the laptop to my HomeHub via the cable so, clearly, there was a wireless issue.  I managed to get a 2nd HomeHub so have tried connecting to that, and it has worked.  Happy days!!!  So, to my problem...  after using NO internet (expect for the carrying out of fault investigation,) on the day that I get my BT Broadband working as it should, I get an email informing me that " We thought you'd like to know that, so far in December, you've used more than 7GB of your 10GB monthly usage allowance for your BT Total Broadband Option 1 service."  In no way can this be true.  Also, I have an email saying I have used 32GB for Nov, even with the lack of internet for a week of so.
With this in mind, I ask, If I upgrade to a 40GB package. would I have to start my contract again?

@Geoff93 - I know FON caps the bandwidth available to those using your connection. However, it is perfectly possible to piggy-back onto someone else's WIFI completely independent of FON and use up as much available bandwidth as they can without the WIFI owners knowledge or permission.
Tools for finding and accessing "protected" WIFI networks have been around almost as long WIFI networks themselves. WEP is particularly vulnerable, WPA fairs a little better (but not much), using MAC address whitelists helps but doesn't stop everyone, not broadcasting your SSID makes your network invisible to casual snoopers but not people that know what they're doing, etc. etc.
None of this is James Bond stuff either, its all pretty easy for moderately technical people that use a search engine.
NetStumbler and AirCrack are good examples of easy to use tools that can be (ab)used for this purpose...
    Cheers,

  • There is something wrong with my infinity but i do...

Been debating posting something on here for a while now, i have some sort of problem with my service but i dont know how to explain it or how to prove it.
The issue is related to gaming, fps games mainly, cod, battlefield etc and it usually works well for a few days and then awful for a few days.
I know straight away that people will say it is lag comp but i definitely dont think it is.
I have perfect connection stability, 60down 20up for the past 6 months, 80down for the 6 before that, zero packet loss, and 23 ping to the bbc.
The problem i have is that i lag like crazy when playing games, it will work perfectly for a week then awful for a week. If i have a good connection one day, it will be **bleep** the next despite no connection drops in my router.
Rcently it was awful for a month then great for to weeks, then last week it turned **bleep** from Wednesday to saturday, i switched the bt home hub 3b to a different router, and it was perfect all day saturday and sunday, then at 6pm Monday night it was awful, and is awful again. Despite all testing sites etc reporting no problems.
What could be causing this? I dont think its hardware or software (as it happens on multiple games) is it something to do with the dynamic ip addresses? Im in belfast but i think all my traffic goes through somewhere near Aberdeen :s
Could it be that my upload traffic and download traffic are handled differently and are transferring at different speeds?
I created a thread here a while ago but as soon as I did the connection was great for a while then turned bad again

  • Email being blocked and whitelist denied - HELP?

Email to verizon.com (.net too) are being blocked by the anti-spam system. I submitted whitelist requests, but just get automated messages in return saying the IP is dynamically assigned. It's not, I've had the same IP on that server for well over 1 year. No spam is going out from the system, and SPF, PTR records are correct.
Who can I contact to get mail flowing for customers? One of the sites I host is owned by a local Verizon customer, and he can't even get his own web site emails when someone makes a purchase from him. Very frustrating!
    Any help appreciated.

  • Help with Spam Whitelist

I manage a mailing list for a non-profit organization and recently, Verizon started rejecting e-mails being sent to verizon.net addresses, returning an error message indicating they were spam messages.  I submitted the online whitelist request form 2 weeks ago and have have verizon.net members submit the form as well, to no avail!  There has been no change nor has there even been a message received indicating if the matter is being investigated.  The domain isn't on any domain block lists and I have a SPF record in DNS!  Please Help!!

Since we haven't heard back from you or have received a form submission as requested in your private support case, it appears assistance is no longer required. If you need any future help with your Verizon service, please make a post here on the forums so we can assist.

  • Need help with whitelisting escalation to agent.

The "ISP"  form keeps rejecting this server "arbis.com" which is a NEW server so it doesn't make sense that it's been noted as a spam source unless it's a previous owner of the IP address. But the reply form says it's a dynamic address which is just crazy as the server is in a server farm in St Louis and has a static IP.
Furthermore it's not in any RBL lists that I could find. It's set up with DKIM and SPF and isn't an open relay. It's as clean as can be. I've seen other posts in this forum on this topic and hope a moderator can help me here with an escalation.
    Thanks in advance.

  • How difficult would it be to implement an iMessage whitelist..?

iMessage spam is a really big problem to me and my family members.  And getting worse by the week.
Blocking individual senders is ludicrously ineffective and Apple seems to be reluctant to allow us to block entire domains (which would really help).
So how difficult would it be to implement a whitelist?  (For example... I don't want any iMessages from anybody not in my Contacts list!)
I'm really close to disabling iMessage altogether.  It is barely worth the effort now.

The difficulty and time to do it depends on the learning
capability of the new programmer. Patience and a drive to learn is
what all is needed. Accomplishing one step at a time is probably
the best approach, whether you're new or well-versed.

  • Ironport Whitelist and related questions

    Hi all,
I have recently started at a new position for a company that is utilising ironport as the email spam filtering/virus checking appliance.
Almost immediately after starting in my position issues were being discussed, where the senderbase reputation scoring was marking a sister companies mail as spam - obviously due to a bad reputation.
It was important that these mails were delivered and the obvious answer seemed to be to whitelist the domains, which was implemented by another support person. After the whitelist setting was applied though the mails were still be rejected due to being suspected spam - there is no quarantine setup.
Today I logged into the boxes to see if I could syslog the mail logs to a seperate linux server and suddenly got wrapped up in this problem. I had a look and could see the domains in the whitelist section within the HAT, after doing some reading I can confirm the whitelist section was ordered as being number 1 in the list and by looking further it looks like the whitelist domains were via the 'add to sender group' button within the monitoring overview screens (this is assumed as both .sistercompany.com and sistercompany.com were appended to the whitelist).
After a few hours of reading up I couldn't understand why the whitelist wasn't working, I even did a lookup of the domain in the monitoring overview search section for mail recieved by sistercompany.com and could see that it belonged in the whitelist group. I got further confused when reading the help and support guide - it had screenshots that looked very similar to our setup [within the HAT overview and Mail Policies], however it had an sbrs for the whitelist set between 6 and 10, where as that was blank on our system, nowhere in the document would it describe why this sbrs value was set. Bearing in mind I have only had a few hours of experience with this product, so these maybe silly questions but:
Why would you add an sbrs value to the whitelist - I would have thought whitelists would ignore any score presented.
If number 1 has nothing to do with why these domains were still being flagged as spam, has anyone got any suggestions as to what the issue maybe?
For a small bit of information we have the C660 appliances installed.
Any help would be much appreciated

I'm taking a wild guess here since there are a lot of missing details. Forgive me if I'm covering ground you've already trod.
Remember that the HAT controls how incoming SMTP connections are handled, so entries in the HAT must correspond to the remote SMTP servers that are connecting to you. You don't put the "domain" part of "user@domain" in the HAT ("sistercompany.com" in your case), you put in the the domain names of the actual remote SMTP servers or a wildcard that matches them all. In your case, this might be ".sistercompay.com" (note the leading "." indicating that this will match any domain name ending with ".sistercompany.com"), but only if their SMTP servers have host names in that domain.
Whitlisting by domain name requires that the IP addresses of those remote SMTP servers have correct rDNS. If they don't, you'll have to list them in the HAT by IP address. FYI, we never put anything in the HAT by IP address unless it is unavoidable. Using domain names and requiring correct rDNS forces good DNS hygiene, and also provides a layer of abstraction. The server's address can change, but so long as the DNS is kept up to date we don't have to change our HAT entries.
You can see from the mail logs what sender group is being applied on each SMTP connection. Find one of the rejected messages in the log and see what sender group its connection landed in. If it didn't land in the whitelist (which will almost certainly be the case, given that the message was not in fact whitelisted), then you know the HAT entry is wrong. You can also use the log to determine the actual domain name of the remote server, assuming the rDNS for its IP address is correct.
The example screenshot in the manual showing SBRS between 6 and 10 being whitelisted is demonstrating that you can whitelist by SBRS as well as by explicit listing in the sender group. Your whitelist simply isn't doing this, which is fine. In this age of rampant spamming from stolen accounts on reputable servers, whitelisting by SBRS can let spam in. We raised the lower limit from 6 to 8 several years ago after getting hit in this exact way.

  • Can't validate an Apple ID I didn't even know we had.  Help!

Hi guys.  I'm hoping someone can help with this really strange issue:
My wife has an AppleID which is her me.com address.  This works fine, but we are trying to add her work email address to her account for iMessage, Facetime etc.  We tried adding her address but never received the validation email.  I've been trying to do this one and off for a long time (years) now and it has never worked.
Today I started thinking about it and realized that it's entirely possible that she created an Apple ID using that address at some point in the past.  This would explain her not receiving the validation emails.  So I tried to login to an AppleID using that address.  I tried a few standard passwords with no luck so I started to go through the "I forgot my password" process thinking this would be easy considering that we have access to the email in question and obviously know the answers to any security questions we might be asked.
NO LUCK!  When trying email validation we still don't get the email.  And when asked to provide answers to other information the system says those answers are incorrect.
Yes, I've checked junk folders and all that jazz.  In fact I've even checked the email logs in our server (internal) to see if it has bounced the message or rejected it for any reason.  No message is being sent and if it is, it's not making it to our mail server.
It's also not an issue with whitelisting Apple or anything.  I have successfully validated my corporate email address (on the same server) without any problems at all.
Maybe never did try to setup an Apple ID using her corporate address and this isn't the problem causing validation issues when trying to add her address.  There's just no way to tell.  But when I call Apple there is pretty much nothing that can be done because there is no phone support.
Any ideas on the best way to resolve all this?
Just wanna get it working.  :-)

This has nothing to do with the iPhone.
Set up the Apple ID and get that working, then simply sign in on the device.

Ok. Found some more stuff. It appears that, as of 10.6.2, you can't have this in your whitelist: :
    <key>protocols</key>
    <key>styles</key>
What's missing? Even if you have nothing to add to an area you must have the array tags e.g.
    <key>protocols</key>
    <array/>
    <key>styles</key>
    <array/>
The problem is that the Wiki just fails if there is any problem with your whitelist, with no warning. To see the fault you have to look in the console log. There you will see something like this, which indicates a faulty whitelist file:

  • How do I add a whitelist on AirPort Utility to connect a Kindle Fire?

All of a sudden my daughter's Kindle Fire says it has no wireless connection even though I have the name and password entered correctly. Is this some type of update on the Kindle side? The Kindle tells me (when I tap on the connected wifi name for my computer) signal strength is excellent, status is connected, shows my security with a WPA and additional codes. I have been reading that there is a whitelist I can add devices too but am so illiterate on my MAC that I cannot find it or where to go...my apologies. What do I/ should I do? I am confused as to why I see the Kindle and my computer are connected to wifi but then I receive an error message. Any help or advice would be greatly appreciated!

There isn't a whitelist, per se, on the AirPort routers. Instead there is a means to prevent a wireless device from accessing the AirPort by its hardware MAC address. Unless you have enabled this feature, via the AirPort Utility, all wireless devices should be able to connect.
One area to look at as a possible cause, is the Network Name (aka SSID) that you are using for your AirPort's Wi-Fi network. If it contains special characters or spaces, you may want to consider changing it to something that has neither to see if this helps.

  • 571 Server IP is blocked HELP!

    Good Afternoon,
We recently have updated our IP address which was provided to us through SoftLayer and it appears as though in 2013 the IP had been listed as a spam account; which was two years before we were using the IP.
We have gone through the appropriate channels and have verified on http://mxtoolbox.com/ and http://www.sorbs.net that the IP address is not listed in any of the 95 directlories listed; however about every other day we need to fill out another delisting request through the http://my.verizon.com/micro/whitelist/RequestForm.aspx?id=isp.
So, every other day our e-mails go out to our drivers on tour and then they stop going through because of the following message:
    Subject: Mail delivery failed: returning
    message to sender
This message was created automatically by

Prior Statement from Host / IP Provider:
Soft layer just sent us this information on the IP address as well. They noted that it is definitely not dynamically assigned as per the WHOIS information included below.

The address is definitely not dynamically assigned and you can give them the WHOIS information which shows SoftLayer as well as your company being shown as owning or leasing the IP:

    Good Evening,
Unfortunately, the form mentioned was not supplied as a document or as a link. If you could resend the e-mail I’ll happily fill in the credentials required.
The server that we are currently using from SoftLayer had a supplied IP address (50.23.21x.xx) that we just began using as of June 26th. At that time it became known to us that the prior user of the IP had been flagged for spam in 2013 and we began the process of requesting a delisting.
At this time we have the IP used as a dedicated IP address for the wwfs.org domain owned by the Wounded Warriors Family Support. I’ve checked the server’s outgoing mail exim and found no issues with the forms or system sending e-mails out and verified that the 8 e-mail accounts sending habits were to known constituents or individuals that are requesting services from the Charity.
The charity is also not currently and has not used this account (or any other) in the last four years for e-mail marketing. We are examining the use of Constant Contact for this, but there hasn’t been a mass mailing since 2011.
The server’s cpHulk firewall is in place and we have the Apache configuration set-up to examine and and verify all incoming and outgoing messages. Each individual e-mail account is also limited to 250 messages per hour in the event that any hacking attempt should prove successful to limit any exposure.
We have also verified that the SPF, DKIM and PTR records are valid and the HELO reflects the server information only.
I hope this helps and we look forward to resubmitting our credentials for review.
    Best Regards,

    Hi 92west,
Your issue has been escalated to a Verizon agent. Before the agent can begin assisting you, they will need to collect further information from you. Please go to your profile page for the forum and look at the top of the middle column where you will find an area titled "My Support Cases". You can reach your profile page by clicking on your name beside your post, or at the top left of this page underneath the title of the board.
Under "My Support Cases" you will find a link to the private board where you and the agent may exchange information. The title of your post is the link. This should be checked on a frequent basis, as the agent may be waiting for information from you before they can proceed with any actions. To ensure you know when they have responded to you, at the top of your support case there is a drop down menu for support case options. Open that and choose "subscribe". Please keep all correspondence regarding your issue in the private support portal.

  • ISE 1.2 - External database to use as MAC whitelist ?

    Hi,
I am just wondering, how can a company can live with ISE 1.2 configured with MAB, and whitelist.
Senarios is a company hires a IT provider to run and manage the ISE setup.
so the company itselfs, will not be able to access the ISE for administration. What they can do is manage the AD that ISE integrates to.
So how is it possible, for the company, to maintain a MAC white-list within the AD, externally to the ISE, so that the company can add new MAC's themselfs without intervention from the IT Provider ?
I see in the guides that LDAP does "MAC Address Lookup" but cant an AD do the same ?
Or what is the difference between the two.
Also any ideas from the real world on how to differentiate access and support "Segregation of Duties" when it comes to roles as grouping etc with ISE
    regards
    Martin

well you can have a OU specified in the AD for admin PC and all computers in the Admin OU will have full access.so you have mange the access to ISE this way also.
