Whiteness of background in iOS 8

is anyone else experiencing problems with the whiteness of the background in iOS 8?

Spotlight suggestions can't be activated after ios8 update on iphone 5s
I just updated to ios8 on my iphone 5s. I just wanted to try the new spot light features.
I went to settings->general->Spotlight search    and enabled Spotlight suggestions. This is shown as a tick mark.
**** But when I go back and then return again to the same menu, I see that this option: spotlight suggestions is disabled again. It is not possible to apply this setting.
Without this setting enabled, the new spotlight feature in ios8 will not work.
Further I see another problem:
Under      settings->gerneral->Spotlight search,  when I try to enable  Bing web results ,    the whole settings applications crashes.
I informed Apple customer care regarding, they provides some troubleshoot but this has not helped.
Has someone else seeing the same issue? This looks like serious problem to me.

  • Play an audio on background in IOS on standby

Seems to be not possible for an Air app to play and audio file in background when iOS device is on STANDBY, I am trying a lot solutions without any luck.
    Adobe air SDK version 15.0.0.356
Maybe some one know about a workaround or about the new SDK update because the app is not useful on IOS anymore.

    Hey,
I using SDK 16.0.0.222 for a little player app for a client that successfully plays in the background and sleep.
You need the following in your AS3 code :
    NativeApplication.nativeApplication.executeInBackground = true;
    The this in your XML:
    <key>UIBackgroundModes</key>
      <array>
      <string>audio</string>
      </array>
The only problem is there is slight "glitch" effect when going to the home screen or sleep. I am hoping someone has a work around for that.

  • Told not to Shut off background apps ios 8

During a recent visit to the Apple Store for a warranty, I was told by the employee that I should not be shutting down manually any background apps running. The proper way was to restart my phone periodically and the operating system would take care of the rest. Is there any truth to this I can't see that it's working that way at all.

Apps stay on the list forever (until you clear them), but that does not mean they remain in RAM, and they are not "running in the background." iOS DOES autoclear memory, but not the list. If iOS runs out of the 1 GB of RAM it will delete the least recently used apps to make room for newer ones. If apps do not save data to their database when suspended the data will be lost. Safari does not save open pages, for example, so if it is flushed from memory the cached pages will go away. This is true of many other apps also. So the fact that an app appears on the screen does not mean that it is occupying memory. In addition, apps can expand and contract in size while they are running; when they expand iOS gives them more memory that may not be adjacent to the existing code. Eventually apps get spread over many small segments and leave many "free" segments scattered around. If a new app is loaded and there isn't enough memory for its initial load iOS will move the existing apps around to create a larger single segment to hold the new app (this process is called "garbage collection" and has been a part of all Unix-based operating systems [which includes Windows] for almost 40 years). This results in a launch delay for the app, and can also slow down the keyboard.
The Quick Launch (AKA multitasking) screen has nothing to do with background apps. There can be apps running in background that are not in Quick Launch, and most apps in Quick Launch do not have background processes.
iOS moves apps to the front for your convenience; their position has nothing to do with their priority or where they are in memory. When you double-press HOME while running an app the first app displayed will always be the one you had used just prior to the one you are currently using, then the one before that, down the line.

  • ViewNavigatorApplication.pushView delayed when in the background on iOS

I have a Flex Mobile app that uses an iOS native extension to allow it to run in the background using the "voip" background mode. When I recieve a certain message via a native socket, I push a view onto the stack using ViewNavigatorApplication.pushView. All is well when the app is in the foreground. However, when it is in the background the call to ViewNavigatorApplication.pushView does not result in the new view being created immediately, i.e. its creationComplete event is not fired. When I bring the app to the foreground by clicking on its icon, the creationComplete event is immediately fired. It acts as though the creation of the view is put on a queue until the app comes to the foreground. What is up with that? Is the Adobe AIR gui event processor in a sleep state when the app is in the background? Other events are fired and processed as per normal, so I know that AIR is "alive". I've only seen this behavior with ViewNavigatorApplication.pushView. Note also that I don't see this behavior on Android. On Android the view is created regardless of wether the app is in the foreground or background.
I think I can work around this behavior on iOS, but I would like to fully understand it.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Can you please tell me what extension you are using? I'd really like to use native sockets aswell. Can't find anything about it.
    Thanks in advance.

  • Playing Videos in the background in IOS 6.1

Since I updated to IOS 6.1, I cannot play the sound of a minimized video in the background. Does someone else also has that problem and how can I fix it?

No, not Apple?  This is a public user forum and surely this was pointed out to you when you signed up to post in the forum?
The highest software update for an iPhone 4s is 6.1.3 and that's it.  An iPhone 5 can be updated to 6.1.4, so the chances are that you friend in the US probably has either an iPhone 5 with 6.1.4 or is mistaken and has a 4s that has 6.1.3 on it.
The highest for a 4s is 6.1.3 which you already have.

  • How do you close apps running in the background in iOS 7?

Do you know how to close apps in iOS 7?  In iOS 6 you held your finger on them and when the minus sign came up you closed them that way.  This saved the battery.  Now there is no way to close the apps once you close them and it runs the battery down rapidly.

To close out apps, simply double click the home button and instead of holding down the app icons and clicking on the X mark in older versions, you have to swipe the app window up and away.
Also you can save on battery by turning of background app refresh from settings, as explained in this article .... http://nyacomputing.com/how-to-close-apps-in-ios-7-and-save-on-battery/

  • Can iCloud documents stay in sync in the background on iOS devices?

    Hi everyone.
I've been using iCloud document syncing for a few years and now I feel a little bit puzzled.
My DayOne app on iPhone & iPad only start downloading entries after I launch the app. Is it true that I have to open the app for iCloud documents to start syncing? Or is it supposed to sync in the background (periodically or pushed) and that I just do not get it work?
The same goes for my Readdle Documents app. Everything starts syncing when the app is open and active. Is that the way iCloud document should work?
(I am running iOS 7.1 on iPhone 5 & iPad 3, OS X 10.9.2 on MBA 2013; iCloud documents set to ACTIVE on all devices; background apps are all turned ON for both iPhone & iPad.)
    Thanks.
    -Teng

    Many thanks to @randers4
Just can't believe Apple do not sync docs in the background (still do not after 3 years)

  • I can't have a background since IOS 4.2 update

    Hi there,
I have just updated my iPod Touch (2nd Gen) to the most recent update IOS 4.2.
It isn't under warranty as it is 2 years old.
I went to set my home background, but it doesn't give me the option to save that only as the lock background.
Also, the power/lock button has become very stiff and hard to press.
    What has happened?
    Will Apple fix it?
    Thanks in advance.
    Lauren

The 2G does not support Home screen wallpaper.
iPod touch: Which iOS 4 software features does my iPod touch support?
For the button, see ith this Home button discussion helps.
FIX for iPod Touch Home Button: Apple Support Communities
You can also make an appointment at the Genius Bar of an Apple store. Maybe the Genius can easily file it using a method like discussed above.  However, If it is really bad, Apple will only exchange it for a refurbished one for:
Apple - Support - iPod - Repair pricing
It might not be worth it for a 2G.

  • Change background colour IOS 7 messenger

Is there a way to change background colour in messenger to a less glaring white?

You're welcome. Wish I had better news. You can adjust some of the contrast, text size, and bold text under settings general, accessibility. But that wouldn't address the background color itself.
