Who are Apple Certified Engineers? +1-877-340-9184 (Toll Free)?

I've had my MacBook Pro screen lock up and this weird window shows up:

suspicious activity been detected.  To get it fix please call Apple Certified Engineers on +1-877-340-9184 (Toll Free)

I have had to Force Quit Safari and Restart mynotebook to get rid of the window pop-up.  Please help! How can I clean up my computer of all these strange pop-ups?

This is a scam. Do not call the number or you will find yourself connected to a Ukrainian identify thief. The following is useful:
Helpful Links Regarding Malware Problems
If you are having an immediate problem with ads popping up see The Safe Mac » Adware Removal Guide and AdwareMedic.
Open Safari, select Preferences from the Safari menu. Click on Extensions icon in the toolbar. Disable all Extensions. If this stops your problem, then re-enable them one by one until the problem returns. Now remove that extension as it is causing the problem.
The following comes from user stevejobsfan0123. I have made minor changes to adapt to this presentation.
Fix Some Browser Pop-ups That Take Over Safari.
Common pop-ups include a message saying the government has seized your computer and you must pay to have it released (often called "Moneypak"), or a phony message saying that your computer has been infected, and you need to call a tech support number (sometimes claiming to be Apple) to get it resolved. First, understand that these pop-ups are not caused by a virus and your computer has not been affected. This "hijack" is limited to your web browser. Also understand that these messages are scams, so do not pay any money, call the listed number, or provide any personal information. This article will outline the solution to dismiss the pop-up.
Quit Safari
Usually, these pop-ups will not go away by either clicking "OK" or "Cancel." Furthermore, several menus in the menu bar may become disabled and show in gray, including the option to quit Safari. You will likely have to force quit Safari. To do this, press Command + option + esc, select Safari, and press Force Quit.
Relaunch Safari
If you relaunch Safari, the page will reopen. To prevent this from happening, hold down the 'Shift' key while opening Safari. This will prevent windows from the last time Safari was running from reopening.
This will not work in all cases. The shift key must be held at the right time, and in some cases, even if done correctly, the window reappears. In these circumstances, after force quitting Safari, turn off Wi-Fi or disconnect Ethernet, depending on how you connect to the Internet. Then relaunch Safari normally. It will try to reload the malicious webpage, but without a connection, it won't be able to. Navigate away from that page by entering a different URL, i.e. www.apple.com, and trying to load it. Now you can reconnect to the Internet, and the page you entered will appear rather than the malicious one.

If you require anti-virus protection Thomas Reed recommends using ClamXAV. (Thank you to Thomas Reed for this recommendation.)
From user Joe Bailey comes this equally useful advice:
The facts are:
1. There is no anti-malware software that can detect 100% of the malware out there.
2. There is no anti-malware that can detect everything targeting the Mac.
3. The very best way to prevent the most attacks is for you as the user to be aware that
the most successful malware attacks rely on very sophisticated social engineering
techniques preying on human avarice, ****, and fear.
4. Internet popups saying the FBI, NSA, Microsoft, your ISP has detected malware on
your computer is intended to entice you to install their malware thinking it is a
    protection against malware.
5. Some of the anti-malware products on the market are worse than the malware
from which they purport to protect you.
6. Be cautious where you go on the internet.
7. Only download anything from sites you know are safe.
8. Avoid links you receive in email, always be suspicious even if you get something
you think is from a friend, but you were not expecting.
9. If there is any question in your mind, then assume it is malware.

  • Who are Apple's "identified developers?"

In System Preferences, General Security, there is an option to "Allow applications downloaded from: Mac App Store and identified developers."
I wanted to download an app from the Adobe website...Adobe is pretty legit, and it wouldn't let me because of my preference. It's Adobe! I know I can just change my preference in order to do it, but unfortunately I can't remember my password, lol.
So who are these mysterious "identified developers?"

Funny - I just downloaded and installed Adobe Acrobat Pro XI and saw a small 'lock' in the upper right hand corner. Curious, I clicked on the lock and was shown the 'identified developer' certificate. First time I've seen an installer with that - I assume it will become the norm.
I just hold down the Control key and click the app and choose Open if I know that the app is from a legitimate source. And the Adobe download sites are usually secure so I'm assuming that you can safely install anything from there.

  • Apple Watch ready for handicapt people who are sitting in a wheelchair?

    Hi,
will the Apple Watch be ready for handicapt people, who are sitting in a wheelchair? I hope so.
I´m pritty sure that nobody knows anything about it yet. I hope, that Apple engineers will read this, so that I can also benefit from those fitness features within my situation.
Is there a direct way to inform Apple about my idea?
    Thanks in advance.

  • Question for those who are getting their broken TCs replaced by Apple:

Are those of you who are getting a replacement TC through Apple all within your warranty period, or is Apple replacing all of the 'power issue' failures, regardless of warranty?
Do you have Apple care, or are you just calling the Apple Care number?
    What model of TC failed?
    I'm nervous about mine....
    Thank you.

  • Apple Certified Refurbished Mini - refurb process

Does anybody know what the Apple Certified Refurbished process consists of? The reason I ask is that I just received an Apple Cert. Refurb. Mac Mini today. It was DOA. I've talked to Apple Care and a replacement will be sent as soon as FedEx scans the return label for the DOA machine. I have to wait for that to arrive in my email but that is a good thing. And I was only on hold for about 15 minutes.
I had my doubts about getting an Apple refurb. but after thinking about it, I thought it would mean almost zero chance of getting a bad Mini. I assumed that an Apple Cert. Refurb. would be thoroughly gone over before being sold. I guess I was wrong. Do they even try to boot these machines that are supposed to be thoroughly gone over? Could something have happened during shipment? I know it will be hard to say exactly what happened but I now have my doubts about trying any Apple refurbs. in the future. And that's too bad because you can save plenty of money on some of them. But all the savings in the world doesn't matter if the computer doesn't work.
Anyone have a similar experience or know what is involved in the refurb. process? I was excited to get my Mini today. Now I have to wait until a replacement arrives. I hate waiting for things like this.
    Eric S.

This is a bit like asking if anyone has ever had a problem with a new Ford - there are bound to be those who have had bad experiences just as there are certain to be those who haven't. Given this is a forum where people typically come to report that they have a problem and to ask for help, the predominance of posters are going to reflect on problematic issues rather than that their systems have run perfectly.
My own experiences of Apple refurb products has been generally good, after buying a number of items that way over the last couple of years or so. My only issue has been with a G4 iBook that suffered a display fault, which by it's rather obvious nature when the system was first run, rather suggested it had not been tested before being sold. But as with their new products that arrive faulty, Apple responded promptly and resolved the issue. I must say that I would not hesitate to buy a refurb if there was a product I was interested in at a satisfactory price - my problem is that I don't see much in the way of satisfactory prices in the refurb store - particularly not on minis!

    Try:
    - Reset the iOS device. Nothing will be lost
Reset iOS device: Hold down the On/Off button and the Home button at the same time for at
least ten seconds, until the Apple logo appears.
    - Unsync all music and resync
    - Reset all settings
Go to Settings > General > Reset and tap Reset All Settings.
All your preferences and settings are reset. Information (such as contacts and calendars) and media (such as songs and videos) aren’t affected.
    - Restore from backup. See:

  • What are Apple doing to compensate for the damage caused by the iPhone 4 bumper?

I have noticed damage caused by the bumper.
It is NOT foreign object but caused by the hard plastic on the inside of the bumper
(plese do not come out with rubbish like steel is harder than plastic) I am not stupid and I know that the damage matches the pattern of the bumper skeleton.
What I want to know is when are Apple going to deal with this and replace my phone?
I dare not go to the so called Genius bar in Milton Keynes as they have adopted a Dixons style "fob off" attitude and I will become rather angry with them.

Re: What are Apple doing to compensate for the damage caused by the iPhone 4 bumper?
15-Jun-2011 15:15 (in response to sfrommilton keynes)
o Steel is harder than plastic, so the bumper has not caused the damage.
      - You call it rubbish
      - The world calls it physics
You are totally wrong.  Please go back to School.
    o You can deny physics
      - but that will not change reality.
You can go to School but that wont change reality.
o Your description of your Genius bar is incomprehensible
      - I recommend you go to the Genius bar leaving the chip on your shoulder at home and tactfully explain what you think is your issue.
I recomend you find a day job ans stop TROLLING peoples threads.
      - I've never had them fail me or be the least bit confrontational.
      - But if you act like a jerk then I couldn't predict what would happen
Yeah because you were there.  Are you having some kind of relationship with the company?  I think you sleep with an Apple under your pillow.
Finally I am a consumer who has paid for a product that is not living up to expectations.  The plastic skelton is hard and abrasive (I know what that means as I went to School) Abrasion's are marking the product.
This is not the only time this has been reported and as such I have no issue with particles entering the bumber.  This has happened from the start (when I used Apples stupid bumber case)
Please don't patronise or TROLL others threads.

  • Where can I find an Apple certified internal hard drive?

I have a December 2006 MacBook Pro that I upgraded RAM and hard drives (twice) from OWC. After having Apple replace the display and the motherboard (again twice) I've been having boot problems. My local Genius Bar told me to replace the RAM with my original RAM and see if it solves the problem.
Well, it seems to solve it, but my internal HD shows up as "Failing" in disk utility. I cleaned off my original 120GB HD and installed the OS (Snow Leopard) and whenever it's plugged into firewire, the system will boot automatically to it rather than the internal drive.
There's an Apple logo on the original drive, so there's something about it that the Mac likes. There seems to be something to the "official" Apple hardware deal.
My problem is that the Apple Store doesn't seem to sell either internal drives for notebooks or memory for MacBook Pros as old as mine.
I can take it back to the Genius Bar to find out if they can sell me the right stuff without having to install it themselves, but I'd much rather do it myself, so I don't have to let go of my computer, which I use every day.
Any thoughts? Apparently I can't trust the hardware that OWC sells. Does this make any sense?

Where can I find an Apple certified internal hard drive?
    At Apple
But if you want to spend less ..... OWC have a great selection and are very Mac Friendly

  • Are Apple Display HD??

    Hi,
Just a quick question to those who know much more about this than I do.
    Are Apple's Displays high definition??
If I was to watch a HD film on them, would it be in high definition or not? What is the resolution of them, if they are HD? Would they be 1080i, 1080p, 720???
    Thanks for your help.

Depends on the res of the screen.
    720 is 1280 x 720
    and 1080 is 1920 x 1080
So, the 20" display is 720 capable and the 23" and 30" are 1080 capable, as per: http://www.apple.com/displays/specs.html
Of course, you'll need a fast graphics adapter to drive 1080!!!

  • Apple certified cords for iphone 5 now giving me error, one is brand new from apple store, what is fix

I have three apple certified cords and all are giving me errors not certified. What is fix?

If you got them from a real Apple Store they are covered by warranty. Take it back and get a free replacement.
Of course, it could be that the cables are OK but you have a defective charger (if you are getting errors while charging)

  • Background rendering? Oh REALLY? Who's Apple kidding?

One of the things I was looking most forward to, was - to quote the infamous Supermeet presentation: "Never ever have to wait for rending no more!"
It's just that, to my best knowledge, there really is absolutely NO background rendering going on NOR is it any different from the auto rendering we had in FCP 7. Just at bit more automatic, perhaps.
To me, the definition of af background task is something that continues while you continue your work. I'm positive that most people hear this in FCP X as in "so it will do the rendering in background, so you don't have to wait for it".
    But wait........
    - If it's a background process, while does it stop when we continue working ? That's no background task to me! Is it?
    - If it's something so new, that it has to be accompaniet with "never have to wait no more", why is it almost 100% the same as we already had in FCP 7?
Two me, there seems to be only two very small differences:
    - in FCP X you can set the time limit where in FCP 7 you had to stick to the, what, 15 minutes delay in this process starting automatically
    - in FCP X you can pause the rendering temporarily just by doing anything in FCP X, where as in FCP 7 you had to click cancel to halt it
So the conclusion to is, that you most definately still have to wait for rendering, as you cannot finish you project before you completed the wait........
Background rending? Oh REALLY? Who's Apple kidding, anyway?

why is it almost 100% the same as we already had in FCP 7?
This is just incorrect. First, the technology in FCP is vastly superior to 7. The speed is substantially faster. It is not analogous in any meaningful sense to auto render. In addition, once render initiates, it does not actively have to be stopped by the user to continue working, nor does it have to be re-initiated. The process is seamless.
Indeed calling it background rendering is marketing hype and it is not in background in any true sense. However, it's relationship to what happens in 7 is zero. The two differences are minor. The real differences are in the processes ability to access new techology, using more RAM, more processor power, more graphics processing, and more modern OS technolgies. That's the real difference.
