Who can you believe in BT?

I am a very satisfied customer of O2 Broadband but achieve only 3.5M due to line length. BT are estimating my speed on Infinity will be 33.1M. I'm keen to achieve that speed and have got my MAC. But I'm concerned by the number of posts on this forum indicating the estimated speeds are often not achieved, sometimes by a large margin.
BT call me several times a week asking me to order. But first they tell me that if I don't achieve the estimated speed then I can cancel within 3 months with no penalty (but I can't find that in T&Cs). Then... another BT guy tells me the first guy has misled me and I cannot cancel on the basis of not achieving a given speed. The first guy then says his calls to me are recorded and if he promises a speed then I can always quote the phone call regardless of what it says in the T&Cs. I say I don't feel I can rely on that if problems occur later! He passes me to his manager who says the threshold for being able to cancel without penalty is 15M but cannot find it in the T&Cs.
I then ask him if I go for Option 1, with a 40Gb limit, and find I need more then can I upgrade to Option 2 part way through without extending the term of the initial contract. He replies it depends which department I contact within BT, his office will require a new 18 m contract but other departments can upgrade the service retaining the existing contract term.
Am I talking to the same company? 

I know you shouldn't purchase something based on rumours but there is one going around about a speed increase in the not to distant future.

I went for Infinity option 1 and had a very helpful discussion with sales. 
I had unlimited UK landline calls included with my old BT broadband but didn't think I needed the full Infinity opt 2 package that also had unlimited calls.
So I was able to take Infinity option 1 and add an uplift of £4.75 to give me unlimited calls.
I then asked if transferring from BT adsl broadband to Infinity mean I have to start an 18 month contract again and was told that I would.
I then asked if after a while I found I needed to upgrade to to option 2 as the 40Gb download cap was too restrictive, I was told I could and that as option 2 has unlimited UK landline calls included all I had to do was give BT 30 days notice to cancel my existing calls uplift. 
There was no mention of having to start another 18 months contract. 
I had been discussing contract periods ref would I still have to keep paying until the end of my existing contract for £4.75 anytime calls uplift when/if I upgraded as it is included in option 2.
So having initially being told quite up front I would have to start a new 18 month contract for my BT Infinity option 1 and then being told about the 30 day cancellation notice for the calls uplift I would expect the BT sales representative to have made it clear that to move from Infinity option 1 to option 2 would mean a re-start to the contract again.
So if I do upgrade I would not expect to re start another 18 month contract. 
I suppose this may just be my situation and I do keep a note of the names, date and time the conversation took place so if needed it could be confirmed.
My dealings with BT have always been very fair and am sure something can be negotiated.

Does change nowadays between 30 to 37Mb.
But will you take the leap of faith into Infinity.....

    I open gmail. I want to save an email to one of my folders.
    I position my cursor over the appropriate Folder icon or by choice, to the Trash.
    The friendly finger pointing cursor icon changes to an arrow icon.
    The hand icon allows me flawless access to opening and/or moving emails.
    The arrow, however does not open the link.
    On the Google menu bar the cursor hand with finger opens the links to Everett (my name), Search, Images, Maps and Play.
    When I attempt to open the remaining links in the menu bar (YouTube, News, Gmail, Drive, Calendar and More) the arrow icon replaces the hand. The arrow icon does not work. It will not activate these links.  Nor does it open email messages in the Inbox.
    Usually I reset, even reboot Safire and sometimes the problem goes away, then reappears.
    Can you imagine if this condition should it happen to a tech savvy Google Support person? Perhaps one can share and make my problem go away.
    I am considering dropping Google as my mail source. Unfortunate!

    I have uninstalled my Access Connection, but this problem seems to persist. IBM technician have changed the wireless card of my T60, the first few days after it was changed was very fine, no problem at all. About a week later, the problem occured again, and it happened quite frequently after that occurence. Now i really have no idea what is the cause and how to solve it. Will be greatful if there is anyone that can help me.

    If there is a camera displayed next to your friend in the contact list you can invite your friend by clicking on that camera icon. You need to use iChat for video chats with more than one friend the same time. (friends using iChat can invite you to a multi person video chat and add others if the iChat user initiates the video chat)
    Windows users need AIM 6, the iChat application only runs on Mac OSX.

    How can you tell if your weblogic install is running in J2EE 1.3 mode. The person
    who installed weblogic did not remember which weblogic6.1 version they had installed.
    I notice a flag named J2EE12OnlyModeEnabled as a parameter. If I set this to false,

I spoke more than once with your customer service and each time they tell me: "Your issue is with a higher department and would be solved within 24 hours" Dear Sir, This is very frustrating and my request is that if BT is not able to provide me with the agreed service then you should immediately let me know so I can seek another provider. Please if this is the case, I request you to terminate the Broadband service, leave the phone service and email me my MAC code. I shall then wait for your instruction on how to send you back your Broad Band equipments.  Sir, I have already reported this issue and now I can see that you have put a note on my BT page that the issue have been solved. This is not true. The issue is still there and I am facing a very slow connection on both Broadband and the phone line. I followed your technical trouble shooting instructions carefully but without success. I also hired an engineer who after examining the issue told me that it is a BT issue and that many people are facing a similar problem. Sir, I believe that BT has not been helpful in sorting my issue. Also on different occasions I was told contradicting and confusing answers, like: “within 24hours the issue shall be sorted out” or "our technical department tried to contact you" I am rather confused, puzzled and extremely upset and I hence request BT to sort this problem within the coming 24 hours otherwise to terminate the Broadband service and provide me with the MAC code.     You are posting on a public help forum this forum is for bt customers to help each other your requests need you to contact bt direct by phone no one here can issue mac codes or cancel services

Called them back and was told the other four were on back order. called again and now they tell me the payment wasn't received and I will have to pay for the phones since promotion is up. If payment did fail for the devices when payment was charged all promotional offerings are then voided if the promotion has expired.     If you want your servlet site to print out the text passed in (ie. "carmine"), then you can override the toString() method in the servlet to do just that. By default an object's toString() method simply prints out the reference to the address in memory, as was stated in the previous post.

    a question could not be simplier: how you put a * on the Calculator app on international keyboards WITHOUT numeric keypad?
    normally, it is altshift, but some apps -and Calculator is one of them- will not accept it.
    i want to have a general sight how this keyboard mapping thing designed in OS-X, because many times it seems crazy.

    I do note that the calculator keys do highlight when the appropriate keyboard keys are used, so maybe you can determine which combo works for that. If there isn't one, then it is lame.
    If you want to report this issue to Apple's engineering, send a bug report or an enhancement request via its Bug Reporter system. To do this, join the Mac Developer Program—it's free and available for all Mac users and gets you a look at some development software. Since you already have an Apple username/ID, use that. Once a member, go to Apple BugReporter and file your bug report or enhancement request. The nice thing with this procedure is that you get a response and a follow-up number; thus, starting a dialog with engineering.
    Additonally, one could send bug reports and enhancement requests to Apple via its Bug Reporter system. Join the Mac Developer Program—it's free and available for all Mac users and gets you a look at some development software. If you already have an Apple username/ID, use that. Once a member, go to Apple BugReporter and file your bug report/enhancement request. You'll get a get a Bug/ER ID number; thus, starting a dialog directly with engineering.
    Alternatively, send Feedback, but that usually goes through support and marketing, although when it'll get to engineering is anyone's guess.

  • Can you believe it?

    After months of trying to get a new, top of the range, top spec 27" iMac working properly; online support; visits to store for "genius" to help; faulty install disk; faulty replacement install disk; wireless connections not working; Time Machine not working; AppStore downloads not working; system preferences not responding; hours spent on the phone with technical support and senior technical support, I finally decide enough is enough and ask for a refund.
    The answer is no - they want to take the computer in for repair - I can't have a refund because it's not Apple policy to refund money for faulty goods.
    I've been using Macs for twenty years.
    I could have spent a few hundred on a PC - and just thrown it away when it didn't work.

    The first problem was the wireless connection dropping - a lot of users have this problem and Apple did agree to a refund but wanted to try to fix the problem first and this dragged on for quite a while as I don't have a lot of spare time to work it and the first and second line support were unable to help.  Then no-one could get Time Machine to work - again not in itself a big problem.  Then the App Store wouldn't work, different people dealing with it and time passing by.  The system preferences stopped working.  Then a long delay in getting me a replacement install disk as mine was faulty - different people at Apple and time passing on.
    Small computer problems don't figure too highly in my life so I went along with Apple to try to solve them.  I prefer to solve problems with computers than just send a 'good' computer back.
    They are now stumped - none of their Geniuses or Technical support staff know what to do or can get my computer to work but I can't have my refund.
    What really disappointed me was the attitude of the online store people, they were polite but insisted it was not Apple policy to give refunds.
    I'll get my refund but I know it's going to be a long fight and may involve the courts.

    While you're looking for someone who can, you may want to try searching the forums for the many other threads that give tips on extending your battery life (things like turning off Background Refresh). You may also want to look at battery cases such as those made by Mophie.

    The only way to track your phone is if you had find my iphone installed and activated, then you go to icloud.com log in and track your phone.
    If you didn't set it up then there no way to track it.
    Not sure what facetime has to do with your stolen phone.

    Let's see if we can get to the bottom of this mystery! I hope it's not foul play.
    You say the problem is with just one of your PDF files? What version of Acrobat/Reader are you using? If you're in Reader, you're limited to commenting/annotating the PDF (you can't edit text with Reader, so you wouldn't be able to select text that's in the PDF already).
    Please let me know what program/tools you're using and we can take it from there.
